We open to the VoW newsroom where we see both Joey Nitro and Zelda Lawson sitting behind the news desk, they both look into the camera with smiles on their faces as graphics displaying their names appear below them.
Zelda Lawson
Hello everyone, and welcome to the 6th edition of the Nitro/Lawson Report with me, Zelda Lawson and the man beside me, Joey Nitro. Tonight we'll be going over all the news from Breakthrough 34, and then we will be treating our audience tonight with an interview with one of the veterans of this business, VoW star Seth Iser.
The camera cuts over to just Lawson as the graphic shows an image of Ryder Blade's bodyguards attacking Owen Gonsalves.
Zelda Lawson
Now onto our first news story, we saw a very peculiar sequence of events happen during what was the Main Event of the evening between Xcel Champion Ryder Blade and the always charismatic Owen Gonsalves. Following a very mysterious message delivered to the Belfast crowd by two unknown females, Owen was met with an unnecessary assault by Ryder Blade's bodyguards. Following this the "Xcellent" henchmen feared the referee into ringing the bell, and Ryder Blade picked up the pure embarrassing win over Owen Gonsalves. I imagine the Blade Brigade will be met with some punishment for their actions before the Xcel Champ meets my husband Tyler Storm at Breakthrough 35, but at this point it seems we have just came to expect this kind of behavior from Mr. Blade. How about those mysterious females though, Joey?
The camera cuts to Nitro as the graphic changes to a still of the chaotic scene backstage revolving around Stacy Jones.
Joey Nitro
Indeed, it was certainly a very strange set of events Zelda. Moving onto our next story however, and it was a scene that left the entire VoW in a state of shock. Earlier in the night, Stacy Jones came out to address her fans where she apologized for letting everyone down after not being able to take the Xcel title from Ryder Blade at Armed & Dangerous. She then tried to explain to the VoW faithful about what she has been going through over the past couple of months and just broke down live on air. Later that evening, she was set to go one on one with her ex-husband, Matthew Robinson, however she was found unconscious in her locker room and was rushed to the hospital. At the moment, her condition is unknown, but we will all keep you updated and as I said at Breakthrough, out of respect for her, her family and her friends, we at VoW would appreciate it if the media stay well away from this very personal and upsetting event...
The camera cuts back to a somewhat distraught looking Lawson who is breathing very heavily to calm herself.
Zelda Lawson
All we can really ask is you keep her in your prayers...please.
Joey Nitro
Excuse us folks...
Nitro removes his earpiece and places his hand on Lawson's shoulder.
Joey Nitro
It's going to be okay Zelda, try and think positively...think of all those crazy fun times you've had with Stacy since you've become friends...
Zelda Lawson
I'm sorry...I just am so worried Joey.
Lawson gives Nitro a hug, then pulls away and looks back at him.
Zelda Lawson
I think I can work through it...let me just get into the tag team story so I can stop myself before a breakdown.
Joey Nitro
No problem...
He smiles at her, rubbing her back to comfort her a little before he replaces his earpiece before the camera cuts to Lawson, the graphic changing to Cera and Dathyn on the ramp with their arms raised, holding their tag titles aloft.
Zelda Lawson
Sorry about that ladies and gentlemen, just needed a moment to breathe there. Now onto our next story, what a tag team contest we were treated with at Breakthrough when your Twin City Champions Cera and Dathyn took on the team of fan favorites Patrick Jones and the recently returning Matt Slater. In what was probably one of the more back and forth contests of the night, the action was intense in this match up but in the end, The Cutthroat Corps proved why they are top of the division as Dathyn got the pin fall over Jones for the victory. I'd say it was a good choice for match of the night, Joey.
Cutting back to Nitro, he nods in approval as the graphic changes depicting a very pale looking Matthew Robinson standing over two life like dolls in the ring.
Joey Nitro
Indeed it was Zelda, it certainly has my vote. Now moving onto probably one of the creepiest, strangest and at one point, terrifying moments of the night. After his victory over Seifer Black at Armed & Dangerous, Matthew Robinson would grace us with his presence and talk about how he apparently single-handedly removed the...quote, unquote...Addams Family from existence in VoW, of course referring to siblings, Stacy Jones and Seifer Black. But then we witnessed what can only be described as the birth of the AntiChrist Visionary, the new persona that Seifer Black now possesses, a side of him that I have seen before in NWA and it is truly a scary sight to behold. The self-proclaimed AntiChrist Visionary would proceed to play mind games with his foe, going as far as to making him believe that he had killed his own niece and nephew, Robinson's two children from his relationship with Seifer's sister. Robinson has well and truly awoken Seifer's dark passenger, and he may very well have unleashed Hell on Earth here in VoW as we know it...
The graphic now shows Artemis Kaiser and Constance Chapin standing face to face in the ring as the camera moves back to Lawson.
Zelda Lawson
You could tell that the man we talked to on our first ever show together, Joey, was not the same man we saw addressing Robinson at Breakthrough. VoW may be in for a dark age if this is the Seifer we must face now. But now let's move on to what many people were clamoring about going into this Breakthrough, and that was the GPW greats Artemis Kaiser and Constance Chapin facing off in an unbelievable contest. These two showed why they were considered some of the best back in GPW, and we were treated with an amazing contest that came down to the wire with Artemis Kaiser pulling off the win over the former GPW World Champion. I have to say, these ladies are monsters in that ring, I think they certainly put this roster on notice at Breakthrough.
The camera cuts back to Nitro and the graphic changes to one showing the King of the Cage logo and stills of Tyler Storm, Stacy Jones and Ryder Blade standing in front of it.
Joey Nitro
They certainly did Zelda, it truly was a spectacle to behold and it honestly wouldn't surprise me if we saw either of those two women challenging for a championship in the near future. And now onto our next story, we were treated to an appearance in the ring from our former I4NI Champion, my lovely co-anchor's very own husband, Tyler Storm who would address his Witnesses about his involvement in the King of the Cage tournament coming up soon. Other Visionaries who will be waving the VoW flag proudly in this tournament are Stacy Jones and of course, our very own Xcel Champion, Ryder Blade. We at VoW wish all three of our Visionaries the best of luck in this tournament, and I know already that they will certainly, make us all proud...
Cutting back to Lawson, the graphic now show Heath Williams and Katie Moicelle locked in a grapple.
Zelda Lawson
I'm certainly a very proud wife to see my husband's involvement in such a huge multi-fed event such as King of the Cage. He, along with Ryder and hopefully a healthy Stacy, will be putting VoW on the map in a huge way with their involvement. Now to our next matchup, we saw Katie Moicelle and Heath Williams face off in an impressive contest. These two Visionaries, who have faced a bit of adversity in recent match ups in VoW, showed off why they are still big parts of this roster, with Mr. Williams just pulling off the victory over Katie. Some good step forwards for both Katie and Heath as they look to continue their paths here in VoW.
The camera cuts back to Nitro as the graphic changes to two separate images in one, showing Tyron Bickerton with his arm raised, holding up his Zero Gravity Championship and Kincaid with his arm raised also.
Joey Nitro
Great showing from both competitors in that match Zelda. Moving onto our next story and earlier in the evening, Zero Gravity Champion, Tyron Bickerton sent a very clear message to both Kincaid and Alec Rose by making quick work of his opponent, Ethan Sinn and picking up a dominant victory. Then later in the night, Kincaid and Rose would battle each other to see who will be crowned the new number one contender for Bickerton's title. After an amazing back ans forth contest that could have gone either way, Kincaid was the one who managed to pick up the victory thus booking himself a date with the champion. I think we're in for a treat when Kincaid does battle with Bickerton for his Zero Gravity Championship, Zelda...
The graphic now shows Scarlet Flint holding the I4NI Championship as the camera goes back to Lawson.
Zelda Lawson
It will be a fantastic match when it does happen, Joey, these 2 have been making their names very well known among this amazing VoW roster. Next, Scarlet Flint took some time to address the crowd via the titantron, due to her being banned from the event for the night by Ms. Sangue. She made a pretty big statement to not only my husband but the entire VoW roster that she is one of the most legit competitors here, and it's hard to really deny that with how the new I4NI Champion has been competing. Rest assured though, I know a certain man who is definitely not done with handling Ms. Flint, but we will get to that when the story actually comes up, Joey.
Cutting back to Nitro, the graphic changes to one showing VoW General Manager, Sky Sangue in her office with her head in her hands, looking as if she's about to scream in anger.
Joey Nitro
Oh I'm sure that certain man will have plenty to say to Ms Flint in the future. Onto our next story and with recent issues happening here in VoW, the people injured at the hands of Matthew Robinson, the assault on my co-anchor at the hands of Scarlet Flint among many other similar problems. It seems as if our General Manager, Ms Sky Sangue has been getting a headache from it all as it seems as if the higher ups aren't too pleased about the direction VoW is currently going. It begs the question, just what does Ms Sangue have to do to keep these few Visionaries in check, and what will happen if the higher ups are forced to sort these things out themselves?
Cutting back to Lawson, the graphic now shows Winter Pine standing over Slick Williams with Casanova English standing near holding the World Visionary Championship.
Zelda Lawson
One can only hope we start to get some more order around here, not only for the protection of others, but now also for the possible protection of Ms. Sangue's job. Now we reach the events that took place to open Breakthrough 34. Following his triumph of Valquist at Armed and Dangerous, the new World Visionary Champion Casanova English came out to address the crowd about his victory, but to also address the recent situation with The Orphanage that we actually discussed last week during our interview with Mr. Robinson. Following both injuries of Brett Carson and Stufish, many in the VoW community began to assume that The Orphanage's days were numbered, being only left with English and Robinson representing the sinister group. Well, to the surprise of everyone in this company and the many fans in Belfast, Mr. English revealed that The Orphanage has recruited the services of Winter Pine, a person I am familiar with for bad reasons and that the fans became familiar with following her debut assault of Mr. Gonsalves at Armed and Dangerous. Following her induction into The Orphanage, Pine went on to dominate Slick Williams in her debut match here in VoW. It's safe to say, the news of The Orphanage finally crumbling away was very much proven to be false after that statement victory by Winter Pine.
The camera cuts back to Nitro who nods in agreement as the graphic changes to the Breakthrough logo with the words 'Proving Grounds' written underneath it.
Joey Nitro
Most definitely so Zelda, whether you love her or hate her, The Orphanage's newest acquisition is certainly someone not to take lightly. And finally, before we are joined by our guest this evening Seth Iser, VoW's United Kingdom Tour continues and the next stop is the Cardiff Arena in Cardiff, Wales. What has been described as a super-show dedicated to the up and comers or troubled Visionaries facing off against the main stays here in VoW, aptly named Proving Grounds, should be one Hell of an interesting show, Zelda. Matches include, one half of the Twin City Champions, Dathyn versus newcomer, Joana Thade...Damian Knight versus Zahara Matisse...Alec Rose versus Patrick Jones...Kincaid versus Ace Watson...the other half of the Twin City Champions, Cera versus Constance Chapin...former World Visionary Champion, Valquist versus Winter Pine...Artemis Kaiser versus Owen Gonsalves...the returning Blue Suede Bruce versus I4NI Champion, Scarlet Flint in a non-title bout...Xcel Champion, Ryder Blade versus former I4NI Champion, Tyler Storm and of course, our Main Event of the evening see's World Visionary Champion, Casanova English teaming up with his Orphanage brethren, Matthew Robinson to take on the team of Zero Gravity Champion, Tyron Bickerton and Heath Williams, collectively known as The Requiem. It certainly is an action-packed show and I cannot wait for it...
The graphic then disappears as the camera cuts back to both Nitro and Lawson.
Zelda Lawson
It sure looks like one Hell of a show to look forward to Joey...and that's all of the news from this past Breakthrough folks. And now, as we mentioned at the top of the show, we are happy to welcome into the studio, a true wrestling veteran, not just of VoW, but of professional wrestling in general...so ladies and gentlemen, please welcome...Seth Iser...
The camera pans out a little further, revealing Seth Iser sitting adjacent to Nitro and Lawson.
Zelda Lawson
Thank you for joining us this evening Seth, and I want to start things off with what took place in your match against Patrick Jones at Armed & Dangerous. When the referee was inadvertently taken out, you looked as if you were going to capitalize on the situation when you grabbed a pair of brass knuckles. Yet, much to the surprise of the VoW faithful and many others, you opted not to use them and instead, picked up a clean victory over PJ. So my first question to you is simply this, are we witnessing a new side to Seth Iser? Or was that moment just simply due to respect for Patrick?
Iser takes a second to ponder over the question, just adjusting the black tie on his black and white pinstriped suit just taking a second to maul it over.
Seth Iser
Let me answer the question with a question of my own. When you think of the word legacy...associated with my name. Quick word association....what would you put on it?
Zelda Lawson
I would probably say multiple championship reigns, unmissable legendary matches and years of success...
Seth Iser
The common answer is one of the most hated men the sport is ever known. Think on that for a second. I've had people call me the devil or the spawn of the devil. Had my tires slashed numerous times. But legacies tend to pass from generation to generation. I know you're about ready to have a kid, Zelda and congratulations on that. And speaking truthfully...I'm glad your kid won't have any stigma issues in regards to the legacy of the parents.
Iser just pauses for a second...contemplating his word choice.
Seth Iser
But...but. I have more matches behind me than in front of me. I turn thirty-five in a locker room that's...really young and a gladiatorial sport that often gets younger. I don't have that kind of time...so I've had to think on what the legacy of my career...my last name is. I haven't always done what's right. But I have to now...not so much for my sake...but for Allison's sake. My daughter.
Joey Nitro
You mentioned how the locker room is very young Seth, and in the past, you have been at times rather vocal about how many of the newer generation of wrestler do not know the meaning of the word, respect, especially when it comes to them being a champion, former two-time Xcel Champion, Stacy Jones being the key example in your opinion. Since then, do you think that these younger champions have gotten better at all, in terms of them realizing what being a champion means...are there any current champions in VoW at this moment who you truly believe holds their respective title with respect and honor?
Seth Iser
No. For the most part, no. Partially because some of them haven't been around long enough to truly understand what the belt means. They'll eventually learn it...usually. Some of them however...they're entitled brats.
Iser's face almost turns bitter.
Seth Iser
Pardon my French but the hashtag craze or trying to bankrupt the bleep damned company to try to be World Heavyweight champion shows no respect to anyone that's ever come before you. Or you can get a mealy mouthed girlfriend, proclaim yourself to be the new power couple and not reign in an outsider to our industry when she disrespects everyone. It never used to be like that when I watched our sport.
Iser then lets out a sigh after letting that out.
Seth Iser
I wouldn't get so damned angry about that if I didn't act like a damn fool in the earlier half of my career.
Zelda Lawson
Well Seth, we all make mistakes when we're young but what matters is that you learn from your mistakes and make sure not to repeat them...
Lawson takes a sip of water from the glass in front of her before focusing her attention back to Iser.
Zelda Lawson
You mentioned earlier about turning thirty-five shortly, and it's no secret that you have suffered many injuries that have most definitely shortened your career. You've also been on a rather light schedule so my next question is, could we be seeing the great Seth Iser hanging up his boots soon? And if that were something that could happen in the near future, would you consider continuing in the wrestling industry as a trainer or something to that effect?
Seth Iser
I already am a trainer. Part time, anyway. I bought the Morgantown Dojo, the place where I broke in, and we run similarly to a Japanese styled training camp. But I take it on a year to year basis. I don't know when I'll hang the boots up...but I'll be training people when I do retire...but above that, I'll be a full time Dad.
Joey Nitro
So what can we expect to see in the future from Seth Iser? Are you thinking about trying for a run as the VoW World Visionary Champion? Or perhaps you have your eyes on another championship...what is next for you?
Seth Iser
Try to avoid going grey?
Iser has a half of a smirk etched on his face after saying that.
Seth Iser
I think the best thing I can do at my age...is make sure the next generation of wrestling is going in the right direction. But...considering the only championship chance I had...I was robbed by both Isis...AND The Orphanage...well...it really does make me want to have one more...opportunity at the World Visionary Championship. And represent the championship, the company...the sport of wrestling...my last name...and my daughter in the way it should be. I'm as hungry now as I was when I was wrestling in West Virginia in front of ten people getting a hot dog and a coke as pay...but instead of making a name...I'm hungry to close my legacy out the way it SHOULD be under my terms.
Zelda Lawson
If I may Seth, looking back at your entire wrestling career, and it's surely been an impressive one, do you have any regrets at all?
Seth Iser
Plenty.
Iser answers that swiftly though his facial expression still has that poker face he's often had since he started in the sport.
Zelda Lawson
And would you care to elaborate on that at all?
Seth Iser
Two warnings since you asked for it. It's going to be a long answer...and I can't promise total control over profanity. If you're accepting with both, I'll lay it all out.
Zelda Lawson
Lay it on me, we'll block out the profanities, and we have plenty of time so go ahead...
Seth Iser
It goes back before I even got into the industry. Long story short on the parents...fundamentalist Christians who loved the bible far more than they loved me. Neglect and abuse is what I ended up taking on that front. Then I blew my left knee out in high school my senior year. I had some scholarship offers to go to school but...didn't work out when my knee went. They got retracted.
Iser lets out a cold sigh.
Seth Iser
I had already drank. The usual high school bull(bleep), but because of all the physical and psychological pain plus being in a state that isn't...good with psychological issues...well I medicated myself with booze and drugs.
Iser seems scarily emotionally detached as he continues to elaborate on this.
Seth Iser
That problem carried over to wrestling. Especially when you're living three lifestyles at once when you get into the sport. You're a truck driver, you're an athlete, and either a rock star or ambassador. Younger me...well you wouldn't send me out to do those interviews because I'd sleep little. Party all night after the shows...somehow drive to the next town completely f*bleep*ed up. In wrestling there is something called a dead pool...as in the next people to die due to drugs and I was near the top of all those lists. Lived too hard. Probably why I look older than I am, too.
Iser just lets out another sigh...though his poker face is probably hiding his true...emotion to the subject.
Seth Iser
Problem carried into the first few years in my career. Quite frankly...I SHOULD be dead.
Iser's face just seems solemn...cold...but you can tell even through the poker face now...he IS hurting. Almost angry at himself.
Seth Iser
I had to hit rock bottom before I could pull myself out. That meant getting fired once...and laying in a pile of cocaine, vomit, and booze. I know that's a graphic image to keep in mind but my life wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows and all that other s*bleep*
Iser just leans back on his chair a little...finally giving his first real tell. He's not...completely comfortable talking about the issue...as he lets out a sigh and he just glances back at Zelda quickly.
Seth Iser
Detox probably should've killed me too. That's how much and how hard I was going. But...it didn't. Just after I got clean...I still had the mental baggage of my upbringing to address. That took a few more years yet. And you can't completely get over any...trauma. It's humanly impossible. But after some time...even if it cost me quite a bit early on in my career...I straightened up my personal life...while using that will that I had to find to survive to do what I could for my own career. It brought me success...at the cost of...a negative...legacy. So while I've accomplished a ton...I've also pissed away quite a bit too.
Joey Nitro
Okay Seth, final question for you this evening. As a veteran of the road and the industry of professional wrestling, if the personal aspect of it overwhelms your professional aspect, as it seems to have with Stacy Jones, what do you think would be the best course of action?
Seth Iser
You don't realize this until you do hit rock bottom...but often times trying to deflect your personal hell by taking it out on the ring just takes years off your career and your own life. Sometimes for some people you pick a new career AFTER you get things straightened out. But to bottom line it...take care of your own self first. The personal has to be addressed before you can truly achieve on the professional end in the long run...and stay in the industry for a long time.
Zelda Lawson
Well I think with that we can call this interview closed. Thank you so much for joining us today Mr. Iser, it's good to finally have a coherent guest on this show for once.
Iser nods as he stands up, shakes hands with both Lawson and Nitro, and walking away as the camera cuts back to a view of only Lawson and Nitro
Zelda Lawson
And I believe with that, that wraps up tonight's Nitro/Lawson Report. Please make sure to tune in to our next show following Breakthrough 35 as we discuss what should be one of the bigger Breakthrough's to ever grace VoW, and we will be joined by another member of the Visionary roster for a sit down interview.
Joey Nitro
It will be a good one next week, without a doubt. But until then, I'm Joey Nitro...
Zelda Lawson
And I'm Zelda Lawson, thank you all for watching the Nitro/Lawson Report, and until we see each other again, have a great night.
The camera pans away as Lawson and Nitro chat away, the scene fading to black.
