Podcast by Dan DiStoner:
Camera Pans in on Dan DiStoner sitting outside the Grafton Inn in Carelton Michigan. Dan is dressed in stonewashed jeans and a Cincinnati Bengals jersey. His short dark hair lightened with a touch of grey since the last time the former 4x NWA Champion was last seen when he walked away from the ring exactally one year to the day. Distoner lights a Newport Red 100 and looks Directly at the camera. He inhales deeply on the cigarette and begins to speak.
DiStoner: Welcome to Carelton Michigan Ladies and Gentleman. Its your old pal Dan DiStoner, checking in with the V.O.W fans for the first time in a year. Since the day I retired one year ago today a lot has happened in my life. But ladies and Gentleman I am here to let you know The fire still burns inside. Though my career was cut short I've been training hoping for the day my doctors may clear me for a return to the ring. It may happen, and it may not. But life is short and I have spent too long away from my fans. Not to mention the superstars backstage.
So I bet you all are wondering. Whats Dan been up to the last 365 days. Simple, I've been living. Sold my home in Columbus and moved back to Michigan and been in solitude. Nursing nagging injuries and having surgery to remove the bullet from my lung. I've been reflecting on my time in NWA and V.O.W. and even if I never return to the ring I can consider my career a success. I made plenty of money. And several friends. Now I am not looking for a job. But I wanted to direct this podcast to a few old friends.
Firstly my old running Ryan Omega.........Ryan for the longest time our friendship has been strained. Part of it because of events that happened while we were part of the NWA roster. Partly because of my tell all biography. Ryan my friend in my reflection over the last year. I understand where you were coming from. I just hope one day you can forgive me brother. We started off in The Insane Asylum as enemies. Then I recruited you to jump ship to NWA and that's when the fun began. The Revolution X days, damn were those good times. Brother if you knew how much shit I've taken over turning on you. You would laugh. But my friend I just wanted to say I'm sorry for whatever drove a wedge between our friendship. But I will always consider you a brother.
Second my old friend Seifer Black......Seifer you were one of my favorite in ring opponents. And tho I gave you the rights to Rev X only to fight with you over those same rights. You are the only other person who truly represented what the original values of Revolution X stood for. And I am proud of everything you have accomplished in this business. And tho I never beat you in the ring. Other than Matt Robinson and Chino. You always brought out my very best in the ring.
Third to the fans.......You guys and girls are the life blood of this business that I love so much. Whether you were cheering me or booing me. I fed off your enthusiasm for this business. And it was a pleasure to perform in front of you for the short amount I was able. Much love to you all.
In closing ladies and gentleman, this business will eat you up if you let it. If I could offer some advice to the superstars of 2016 it would be keep your friends close and enemies closer. Because you never know when the knife may come from. It could be a friend or foe. Hell it could even come from your boss or some retired jerk like myself. Guys and dolls like I said before The Fire Still Burns. And God willing, one day I may be able to step back into the ring. So a fair warning If you smell smoke and hear a certain Kid Rock song.....watch your ass because even you know It isn't bragging if you can back it up. And that's something I did every night of my short career.
Peace out People.
DiStoner lights up another smoke and shuts the camera off
