HOST MIKE RICHARDS INTERVIEWS VISIONARY STACY JONES
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon and welcome back to TSN Radio...it’s just gone 1PM here...I’m your host for the next three hours, Mike Richards and to kick things off, I have a very special guest with me here...and for those of you who are wrestling fans, but more importantly, are fans of Visionaries of Wrestling...you are going to love my guest as it is none other than...Stacy Jones! Stacy...welcome to the show...”
“Thank you for having me, Mike...it’s so awesome to be here...it’s been ages since I’ve done any kind of radio interview...”
“Well we are so glad to have you on the show, as are many of our listeners out there and even some of the people who work here, they’re huge fans of VoW...”
“Oh wow, really?”
“Yeah, they’re so excited to have you on the show today...you are the first Visionary to be interviewed here on TSN Radio...”
“Wow...doing another first ever...that seems to be a recurring thing with me with my wrestling career.”
“Oh really? You’ve been the first of...many things then?”
“Yeah, it started with the first company I was a part of before I made the move over to VoW, I was working for a company called the National Wrestling Association where I became the first ever female United States Champion...”
“Wow...”
“Yeah, and that was like, really late on in my career there too...because when I first joined...the company had two separate divisions...one for the men and one for the women so I was already a two-time NWA Starlet’s Champion by then. Then they merged the men and women together into one division, scrapped the Starlet’s Championship and then I became their first female US Champ...”
“That must have been an amazing moment for you...”
“It was, totally...like...when it comes to wrestling...I prefer being involved with companies that allow men and women to fight each other...”
“What attracts you too that aspect? Because I know that there a few companies out there who have the same format that your previous company used to have to begin with, having the women and men in separate divisions, so what attracts you to being able to fight men as well as women?”
“Well, it’s mainly down to the fact that I like to show people that being a woman in a predominantly male orientated sport...that we are able to not only hang with the guys, but we can also beat them too...and I’ve proved that on numerous occasions, as have all the other women in the companies I’ve been in.”
“Right...so what other firsts have you achieved in your career thus far?”
“Well, after I left NWA and came over to VoW...I became the first ever female Xcel Champion which is like the companies second most prestigious Championship. And then later down the line, I’d win it for a second time and in doing so I became the first ever two-time Champion of any kind in VoW...”
“That’s pretty impressive...”
“Thanks...yeah it was awesome...it’s a great feeling to win a title in the first place, but to actually make history by becoming the first of whatever. It makes it that much more special...”
“Yeah...”
“And hopefully, fingers crossed...I’ll be able to make history again some time in the future by becoming the first ever female World Visionary Champion.”
“Of course...speaking of the World Visionary Champion, the current holder of that title is Casanova English...”
“Who’s a Canadian...”
“Yes, who is a Canadian...so I’m sure everyone in Oshawa will be looking forward to seeing him at your upcoming show, Breakthrough 42...”
“Indeed, Breakthrough 42...live from the General Motors Centre tonight! It’s going to be a Hell of a show...so watch it people!”
“You heard her folks, watch Breakthrough tonight...but you mentioned earlier about your hopes of one day becoming the World Visionary Champion. And the Main Event of Breakthrough tonight is a non-title match up between Casanova English and another Canadian, Kincaid...”
“Yeah...big match...very big match...”
“Knowing that Kincaid is getting this opportunity against English, and knowing that if he were to pull off a victory and possibly get a shot at the title in the future, does that make you feel bitter at all? Considering how bad you want to be the World Visionary Champion?”
“No...of course not...I mean, obviously everyone in VoW wants to be at the top of the mountain...they want to hold the top title. Some of the Visionaries have held a top title elsewhere and then there are people like myself who has never held the big one and has that desire to hold it one day. But no, at the end of the day...we’re all a big family and we’re happy for each other when we get opportunities that we deserve...and Kincaid is one Hell of a wrestler, he totally deserves this opportunity...this Main Event match is Pay-Per-View quality for sure...”
“Well, also at Breakthrough 42...you make your in-ring return against newcomer, Tristan Ambrose...have you been out of action for long? And how have you been preparing for your return match?”
“I got injured at the last Pay-Per-View, which may not sound that long ago...but we’re a bi-weekly company so our main televised show is every two weeks rather than every week like a lot of companies out there...”
“Right...”
“So yeah, I got injured at the last Pay-Per-View, Double Jeopardy...my rival Winter Pine broke my nose and gave me a concussion after hitting me with her finisher into the ring steps...”
“Ouch...”
“Yeah, it wasn’t pleasant...but I did it to prevent her from getting her hands on my pregnant best friend so, ya know...my nose is less important than an unborn baby.”
“She’s had the baby now, yes? Zelda Lawson we’re talking about?”
“Yes, she’s had the baby now...little Elena Marie...she’s nice and healthy and I love her to bits. I have literally spent more time with her than I have in the gym preparing for my return match, so...yeah...that may not have been such a good idea. <laughing>”
“<laughing> Perhaps not...so yeah, you’re facing Tristan Ambrose in your return match, who as I mentioned earlier is a newcomer into VoW, so how do you feel about facing him?”
“I’m looking forward to it...this is like, his third ever match in VoW I believe so yeah...it’s going to be interesting. That’s one of the great things about VoW, we’re a fast growing company that’s gaining a lot of interest on a daily basis so we’re constantly getting new talent coming in and I love facing new challenges. And Tristan’s already proven himself elsewhere as a top dog, he’s a former World Champion so he’s going to be a tough challenge, but I like tough challenges...keeps things interesting.”
“Let’s move onto the next Pay-Per-View event, Nothing Else Matters, airing live on March 31st from the WFCU Arena in Windsor, Ontario. You previously mentioned what your rival, Winter Pine did to you at Double Jeopardy. She broke your nose and gave you a concussion after she defeated you in a one on one match...”
“Yeah, because she assaulted me backstage before...so I wasn’t one hundred percent for it...”
“Man, she really doesn’t like you...”
“No she sure doesn’t...and the feelings mutual...”
“Well so anyway, you’re going to be facing Winter at Nothing Else Matters in a First Blood match. Do you like the aspect of having women be involved in these hardcore style matches?”
“Yeah of course...it all goes back to what we were talking about earlier, y’know...about men and women being in just the one division. Women can be involved in matches like First Blood matches, they can swing steel chairs at each other and make it effective and fun to watch. It’s just adding an extra layer to the stories we tell...wrestling is the main focus and then we have our stories and we tell those stories through our matches and when hardcore elements are brought in, it adds that extra layer and it’s something different...”
“Totally...well Stacy...we’re running short on time here so I’ve just got time to ask you one last question and that is...who are your top five favourite wrestlers in VoW, right now?”
“Top five favourite wrestlers in VoW right now? Well at the top of the list, I’ve gotta go with my fiancee and current reigning Zero Gravity Champion, Katie Moicelle. Love you honey!”
“Yeah totally, shout out to Katie Moicelle.”
“But yeah, she’s a great wrestler, and I’m not just saying that because she’s my fiancee. She’s improved so much over the past few months and the fact she won the Zero Gravity Championship is proof of that...”
“Okay, so she’s your number one...what about number two?”
“Number two is my brother from another mother and current reigning I4NI Champion, Tyler Storm...”
“Shout out to Tyler Storm...”
“Tyler’s one of those guys who is constantly working to improve...he’s always the first to show and the last to leave. He has a huge passion for this business and he’s his biggest critic...he’s constantly watching his matches over, constantly changing up his training regimen because he always believes there is room for improvement and he always wants to put on his absolute best performance every night for these fans...”
“And number three?”
“Definitely Zahara Matisse...who I know is listening to this because when I tweeted out that I was going to be on, she said she’d give it a listen...”
“Shout out to Zahara Matisse...thanks for tuning in.”
“Yeah, hi Zahara! Love you babe! But yeah, Zahara’s awesome...she’s amazingly talented and she has such a loveable personality too. And she’s also a magician...”
“A magician? Has she ever used magic to win her matches?”
“Well she’s currently undefeated so perhaps she has...<laughing>”
“Yeah <laughing> okay then...number four?”
“Constance Chapin, without a doubt, the current reigning Xcel Champion...”
“Shout out to Constance Chapin...”
“She’s a cool girl...she takes no crap and is all about business. She ended the streak of all streaks when she became Xcel Champion and she is one Hell of a talented wrestler...”
“Awesome, okay and final one...”
“Ummm...think I have to go with the new chick, Elskerinne...”
“The mannequin lover?”
“You’ve done your research I see...”
“Of course, I’m a professional...”
“Oh of course...and yeah, she’s the mannequin lover, I don’t like that bit about her though...mannequins freak me out.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah, it’s one of those weird fears I have...I’m not scared of many things, I’m a huge fan of horror movies...and stuff like that...love my zombie and vampire movies.”
“What about Twilight?”
“Oh God no...I refuse to count those as vampires...I’m more of a Blade fan. But yeah, There are three things that terrify the life out of me and those are mannequins, those ventriloquist dummies in the suits with the big bug eyes...and also I hate the weeping angels off of Doctor Who...”
“Interesting...”
“Yeah <laughing> but yeah, besides the whole mannequin loving thing...I like Elskerinne because she’s very unique and I always like that about wrestlers...and she’s crazy good in the ring too.”
“Well Stacy, that’s all we have time for today...thanks for taking time out to be here with us...”
“Thanks for having me, it’s been a pleasure.”
“So everyone, make sure to tune into Breakthrough 42 tonight to witness Stacy’s first match back from her injury...good luck with your match, Stacy and also, good luck with the rest of your wrestling career...”
“Thanks Mike...”
