Blink: You're pathetic.
The abrupt opening comes in on Summer's face as she stares directly ahead of her. Her tone on the emotionless side as she continues her verbal assault.
Blink: You're worthless and hated by all. Any smile you see is a false message of happiness. In their minds you're writhing in agony, your blood is pouring out and your limbs are broken. It's what makes them smile.
Rather different form of trash talk toward opponents Winter and Mathew. But whatever works to pep the girl up.
Blink: Nobody wants you around, nobody wants to deal with you. You're not Miss. Talon and you aren't Miss. Katie. So who are you to think you can team with Mistress?
A pan around shows we've been watching a reflection in the mirror as the maid's words have been directed toward herself.
Blink: You're going to fail and you're going to make Mistress mad at you. You're going to make Mistress' friends mad at you. Nothing you do will ever matter to anyone after this.
Her breathing starts to pick up some as it rather quickly grows into her fuming. Soon, she slaps herself across the cheek. Not just once but again.
Blink: Cry.
She slaps herself once more.
Blink: Cry, you bitch! You're pathetic and worthless and even the gravel in a ditch would be disgusted to have you lying over it.
Blink's eyes do begin to water up some as she steps back and uses a little bit of tissue to begin whipping the tears away. With her eyes now dry, she looks back at her reflection and straightens out her hair and smiles ready to begin her day.
Mid morning, about one of the only times Katalina will allow anyone inside of her room at the Dungeon. Per usual, it's Holly and her wife Ariel cleaning up after the night's festivities. Things were rather calm the night before so it wasn't too heavily messed up. Just a few bits of clothes for the hamper, some of Candi's stuffed animals that are gently placed back inside her cage beneath the bed, and the sheets over the bed itself. Both Ariel and Holly stand on either end of the king sized monstrosity tugging out the deep red duvet cover when the conversation turns to more coming attractions than current events.
Ariel: So, teaming with Mistress. That's gotta be fun.
Blink: Mm-hm...
Ariel: What's wrong? I would've thought it'd be an honour teaming with her.
Blink: It is and that's the problem, What if her teammates hate don't like me being with Mistress?
Ariel ducks down and begins tucking her end of the cover between the two mattresses when she notices Candi's empty cage and shrugs.
Ariel: They've accepted Candi.
She comes back up with a smile but lets it fade when she notices Summer isn't feeling the same way about things. Ariel sighs and begins to flatten out the bedspread drawing her hands along it nice and wide.
Ariel: Summer, you really shouldn't be worried about this. First, you're going to do fine. It's not the tag title reigns you've have that tell me that, it's not that one of those reigns you held it with three different partners, it's that you care about Mistress. You care about all of your friends who have been hurt by Miss. Winter.
Despite not wanting to and feeling she deserves none...Ariel is still a maid and feels she needs to be respectful to even the most heart stomping of jerks. For now, Ariel rounds the bed so she can be close with her wife resting a couple fingers beneath her chin.
Ariel: You'll do fine. In fact, I know you'll do better than fine. Because you're Summer Holly Madison and nobody messes with your friends.
The maid smiles leaning in to plant a quick kiss over Summer's lips then heads to pick up the laundry basket. Giving one more glance back, Ariel smiles and heads down to the stairwell leaving Summer alone. Not feeling better, but at least not feeling worse. She just feels the pressure now to succeed. Summer tries to calm herself down with a little more straightening up when the stair doors open and Katie wanders in.
Katie: There you are. Hey,
The youthful primary says as Summer turns from her spot by the night stand looking back. When she sees Katie approach, the maid fully turns and bows greeting her superior.
Katie: Mistress needs you to go pick up her girlfriend later at the airport today.
And that's it. Not...a suggestion, but an order. However, Summer has grown to expect this as she bows her head.
Blink: I will do as asked.
Katie: ...right. Okay, talk with ya--
Blink: Oh! Um...M-Miss. Katie, may I ask something?
Having set out to leave, Katie now instead turns shrugging her shoulders as she faces Holly.
Katie: Shoot.
Blink: Well, you've teamed with Mistress for a few years, how...how is she?
No pointers? No, Blink knows she doesn't fight the same style as Katie so most anything she says there might not help. So now Katie has to think about this. She thinks for a couple moments then shrugs her shoulders.
Katie: She's very open. That help?
Blink slowly nods, something she should've expected from Katie. Kat allows her style to exist so of course she would be able to open up to even the most bizarre of them. She even adapted with Talon's style for their own wins. Two chameleons, Blink hopes they can co exist like that then as Katie takes her leave reminding her once more about Zahara at the airport. Blink again nods and resumes her work in quiet solitude.
Saying that it's been a long trip would definitely be an understatement. It was a loooooooong trip from Atlantic City all the way down to Malibu. So suffice to say, Zahara was rather beat by the time she practically crawled into Blink's '94 red camry, simply dubbed “Munchkin”. It would still be another hour along the road before Zoey could crawl her way into her lovers arms and feel the warmth that Kat's been storing up since they parted ways in St. Paul. The trip was a requirement though, the visit from Catherine...maybe not so much, but definitely the quality time she got to spend with her family. The quiet time was the most important part as it gave the young Magician a chance to really think about things she hadn't had time for before. The thinking, however, soon draws out to a blur as thoughts become a jumbled mess and still a half hour from home...she drifts off to sleep.
Blink: Have you ever considered that, Miss. Zahara?
Unbeknownst to her passenger having fallen asleep, Blink gives a quick glance when it's safe followed up by another. It's the second one that's a little longer and the one that confirms to her that Zoey is sound asleep. Nodding, the maid looks back ahead to the road.
Blink: That's okay, I understand how tired you must be, Miss. Zahara.
As Zoey snuggles herself in a little closer against the door, she's quickly woken by a surprising bump in the road. Minor pothole, but it's enough for the Magician to open her eyes. However, as she's still curled up under her coat her updated status doesn't become known to the driver who lets out a deep sigh.
Blink: I'm a little tired myself.
Ordinarily, Zoey would only play such a ruse when it comes to Kat. Tucking herself further into the covers to really make her lover work for that fresh morning start with her girlfriend. Blink...she would never taunt in this way. But this was a different circumstance. Since moving in with Katalina, Zoey can count on one finger the amount of times Holly's opened up to her about anything, and that's with the finger down. Therefore, the Magician keeps silent and leaves herself in her sleeping position letting the maid continue, assuming she were only speaking to herself.
Blink: It's not to say that there's a lot of wrong going on, just...a lot of un-com-for-ta-ble.
There's Blink's impediment again, though it's not that that further draws Zahara into the conversation, it's the word that was used. Right now she wants nothing more than to sit up and tell her right now that there's nothing to worry about, she's just over thinking things again. But she lets the maid continue.
Blink: It's great that Ariel got promoted to being a full dom-i-na-trix like Mistress, but I'm afraid of what it might do with our schedule. Mistress looks to us so much to watch over Miss. Makayla, it wouldn't be fair to just...stop because Ariel has other ob-li-ga-ti-ons. Then there's Miss. Claire. She's very nice to everyone and I'm sure she won't make enemies, but there might be some enemies of Miss. Katie who don't care and she hasn't been properly trained how to take a bump. I want to talk with her about it, show her how things are, but...she at a place where she doesn't want anything to do with Mistress right now.
Summer lets out a sigh shaking her head.
Blink: Not that she dislikes Mistress or any of us, she's just worried because her sister has re-sur-faced and it's under Mistress' ownership. It's a touchy si-tu-a-ti-on right there because Miss. Claire's sister, Miss. Eve, doesn't even know about Miss. Claire and she's been asked by Miss. Vicky not to get into Miss. Eve's life because it would just com-pli-cate things and Miss. Vicky's not a bad person she's just trying to do what she believes is best for Miss. Eve it's just...
Now Zoey starts to make a move. She's heard enough and watching Holly's eyes begin to water up... But two words keep her back down partially covered up by her blanket.
Blink: And Mistress,
Kat, obviously, but is something wrong with her? If so, Zoey wouldn't hear it for a few days from the woman herself so, against her better judgment, she allows Summer to continue.
Blink: She has to team with me this week. I don't know what she's thinking, I just know that my first day in this company she made it clear she didn't want me as-so-ci-a-ted with her. She was afraid people would ri...di...cu-le our re...la...ti...on...ship with one another.
Zoey has to bite her lower lip, the urge to tell Summer to just stick to smaller words is starting to become far too great.
Blink: Miss. Winter already started, I can tell Mistress got upset with her. I don't...I don't want her upset. Although I can't dishonour her by not com-pe-ting. Maybe I should request a leave from Mistress so she won't have to worry about it.
Blink lets out a sigh as that's the last thing she'd ever want to do. Soon, she pulls into the driveway and switches the gear to park. She stares at the wheel for a moment then turns leaving the car to get Zoey's bags out from the back. Except she only just gets the door open before the magician reaches over and grabs hold of her wrist. It’s a gentle grip, but insistent. Surprised, Blink turns Zoey’s way, but she still closes the door as she looks to the woman.
Zahara: You really do worry too much, sweetie.
Blink: You… you were…?
Zahara: The pothole woke me up.
Smiling gently, Zahara reaches out and gently touches two of her fingers to Blink’s lips.
Zahara: Please don’t apologize. And please don’t leave us, either. I know you have a lot of worries and concerns, but you’re part of this family as far as I’m concerned. Not having you around… it wouldn’t feel like home.
Keeping it simple while trying to emphasize her point, Zahara leaves it at that… save to lean in and kiss Blink’s forehead before turning and getting out of the car herself.
We open back up on the maid known as Blink standing somewhere in the backstage area looking none too pleased. Though...at the same time troubled by not being very pleased. Basically she's trying to look upset but can't. The effort is clearly there though.
Blink: You made Miss. Stacy upset. I know we haven't met that much, or really at all...but that doesn't mean it doesn't upset me. I don't know why she upset you, I don't know why you needed to go so far, but you did. Miss. Winter, I'm going to be your spring.
Certainly something Winter should have heard of by now, although just as soon as she says it, Blink lets out a quick gasp covering up a hand across her mouth.
Blink: I-I'm sorry! A quip about my name being Summer might have been a better choice there. Not to mention in most areas winter tends to go into spring's time and most of spring is still fairly cold. I really should have thought this through.
Holly lets out a low sigh over not being able to insult Winter properly enough. It's troublesome, yes, but she really needs to move on.
Blink: It's just my mind has been a complete whirlwind of ac-ti-vi-ty lately. I also haven't had a match in a while, I was starting to think VOW didn't want me. I would have inquired, but...I know they wouldn't have wanted to listen to some new signee like me. Unless they did. I'm sorry.
Lowering her head, Holly soon realizes something as she swiftly brings her head back up.
Blink: And now here I am talking more about myself! I did that all last time and doing it now, people are going to think I have a massive ego about myself. I-I really don't. Honest!
I doubt people have come to that conclusion. Although if they have then Blink will most likely accept said thoughts of her person.
Blink: Anyway, I...really should get back to the match. The two of you should know I have my own stake in this match. Not just redeeming the close friend of my Mistress, but my own honour!
Despite making this about herself, again, Blink speaks her words rather proudly as she throws her arm up into the air.
Blink: My career...started on my own, but then my second go brought about the tag team side of myself! A true fighter in the field of giving my all to another.
She brings her arm down slowly bowing her head in at the same time in this overly dramatic display of emotion.
Blink: There were dark times, but we managed to overcome it with teamwork!
Blink snaps herself up and all energy returns to her expression...or really a little more than she generally gives. Being worried to offend and all.
Blink: Multiple times we rose to the top when others found it im-pos-si-ble for us to even conceive just what the tip of the mountain would look like! Multiple times did I tread along the fields with nothing overhead save for the clouds. A-and tree branches. There were still some rocks taller than me too.
She admits as she nods her head bringing her hands back together over her waist still standing all while attempting to make herself small again.
Blink: I'm sorry, I got too excited. When that happens...
You start talking jibberish?
Blink: To be honest, I was thinking of coming in like a hero ready to take on the dark world of the Orphanage, first battling Miss. Winter and Matt, but...
Blink's respectful titles only apply to women. Not that she despises men or anything, mostly because that's Kat's shtick, it's just a long and complicated reasoning.
Blink: But I really don't think anyone wants that. I know Miss. Stacy doesn't need to be reminded of her loss by having someone like me say I'm going to avenge her, nor does anyone want to be reminded over how bad the Orphanage is by having someone talk about bringing them down and it being the just thing to do. Es-pe-ci-al-ly when I'm teaming with Mistress who isn't a bad person,
She quickly attempts at getting in.
Blink: It's just some people have perceived her to be that way. Really, we're all just neutral and that's how I should be stepping into this match. I'm not any sort of avenger, I'm...I'm just Blink. I'm sorry.
Bowing her head, Blink turns and slowly walks off the set as the scene steadily fades to black.
The abrupt opening comes in on Summer's face as she stares directly ahead of her. Her tone on the emotionless side as she continues her verbal assault.
