Anyone who knows me knows that me taking time out of watching the Euros is a rarity – major international tournaments only come round once every two years. Of course, I'm not counting competitions from other continents; I couldn't care less about South American football.
Football – don't even think about calling it soccer – is the greatest sport in the world, I'll ignore any argument made against it. I'm obsessed with it, as are millions of other people. I've watched every minute of the tournament so far, and that unfortunately includes that terrible Portugal-Croatia game. Essentially, I'm trying to express that football is very important to me. I've been camped in front of the TV watching football, and if not watching football, reading news about football.
But right now? Well, I'm focussing on my only other passion: professional wrestling. Our profession is unmatched and unrivalled when it comes to sheer entertainment. The stuff some people can do in that ring is nothing short of extraordinary, and I'd certainly like to think that some of my work falls into that category. However, somebody in VoW can be defined by one simple word: 'incredible'. I'm a huge fan of Gwendolyn Massey, and I don't say that about just anybody. I'm genuinely an admirer of her work.
I first noticed her when I arrived at Pride Pro Wrestling – that didn't last long at all. Then, a few months down the line, I caught glimpses of her work at Inferno Wrestling. I've not seen a lot, but I've seen plenty enough to be able to appreciate her skill.
So when I saw that we are scheduled to face off this coming Breakthrough, I'm not ashamed to admit that I got excited. After spending over a year out of this business, I could have hung up my boots and been proud of everything I have achieved. But I didn't want to do that. I came back to the business not to win matches, but to put on the best show I possibly can. I don't mind losing, I really don't. Considering I've been out of action for so long, it's to be expected. This week, I'm not focussed on the prize at stake for the victor. I'm completely and entirely focussed on producing a match of the year candidate. I hope you bring your all, miss Massey. Because I'm more than ready.
OOC: I apologise. I wanted to write a lot more than this – I had a few ideas planned – but I've been far too tired this week in general. Once again, I am sorry. I just need a bit of a rest, is all – and one seems to be on the horizon!
