We ask that you select one of the three options from the poll. It's hard for us to know who wants to be booked each week and who doesn't, and truth be told... The results are starting to become far more of a task for such a small staff team to handle. Our volunteers have stepped up in recent weeks and have been a major help to our progress, but we believe it's time to try out a different method. This will limit the number of competitors that get booked, but will also give us an idea of who is interested in having a match on that given week. Also keep in mind... that if this plan does come to fruition and you DON'T post on the sign up sheet stating that you want to be booked, your character(s) will be put on reserve and there is no guarantee you'll get a match that week. Obviously for PPV's things will be a bit different as we have ongoing feuds that need to be culminated among other matches that are hyped/built up. This just pertains to our weekly show, Breakthrough. Thanks for taking the time to answer this poll and have a good day!

I voted for the first option. I think it's good as is. As has been mentioned elsewhere though, I think a better option for cutting down the length of shows is just not booking everyone every week. Maybe a possible option is that if you have a "Sigh Up for a Match" thread then those who really want one can guaranteed to be booked while those who don't respond might still be booked (assuming they have not requested time off), but they will not be priority to be put onto the card. That make sense?

Actually that is the idea PJ

I'm fine with the way shows have been booked thus far, but I voted for the sign-up anyway. In my current state, it would be nice to pick and choose weeks when I actually have some time to write.

Oh...I was under the impression that if you didn't sign up for the match then you would be guaranteed not to have a match.

Voted for Option 1.
I'm personally not a fan of a booking thread that requires me to reply to confirm I want a match. I think if you're in a fed full time you should expect to be booked unless otherwise told. One of the feds I was in not too long ago had a booking thread and I'd always forget about it or not get to it in time and I ended up never having a match because of it.
And this talk of other threads of 'maybe I want a match' or 'reserved lists' seem to just muck everything up and it will, in turn, make more work for the staff.
Its simple. If somebody wants time off, they'll ask for it. However, you as a booker should also realize that its nice to have a week off every now and then. So why not try to give some folks the week off every now and then and make it even for all. This seems like a logical way of going about it.
If you limit the matches for the show then you will not only save time for yourselves as staff/writers, but it will hold off on everyone wrestling everyone immediately. Just cause you have 20 members doesn't mean 20 members have to be booked every week. I've noticed a lot of 3 ways or 4 ways, probably to squeeze everyone in, and that's really not necessary in my opinion. It'd be different if the shows were weeks apart, but with this schedule, its easy to wait 5 or 6 extra days to write, or have 5 or 6 extra days to relax.

To clarify... If we go through with it. If you sign up. We will prioritize you to the card. Those who do not sign up are eligible but not guaranteed to be booked for that event, unless they notified management about time off in which you are guaranteed time off.

Sounds like people who sign up will get special treatment / better booking, and those who don't sign up will get the scraps that mean nothing? Also, if someone doesn't sign up cause they didn't want to be booked, but you book them anyway, doesn't that defeat the purpose?

As much as I like your suggestion PKA. There have been many instances of feds I have been in where members were unhappy with random off weeks. As we want everyone's input we made this a member vote and not a mandatory management decision. If this is implemented, we will observe and weigh the pros and cons. If the cons outweigh the pros. We would not hesitate to try something new or go back to something old. This is still a learning process and we want to find a happy medium for all our members. We appreciate your feedback, ideas, input, and patience. We strive to take your suggestions and attempt to make VoW a highly satisfying fed for its members. We can't do that without you guys.

The time off thread is for guaranteed time off. It's not meant to be special privilege. just the most logical way we can come up with at the moment to solve cluttered cards. The purpose of this booking structure is card control and making our shows more fluid and manageable. But if it does not work. We will not stick with it. Nobody as fun with ideas that aren't working.

Right on.
"The time off thread is for guaranteed time off. It's not meant to be special privilege. just the most logical way we can come up with at the moment to solve cluttered cards"
I don't think its the MOST logical. Its only taking the pressure off of you guys and putting it on us. Just think about it this way - you're making more work for us with Option 2. Not much more, but still.

And if that is something our members would like to consider before voting. It is most definitely their right.

The sign up sheet sounds to me as an effort to make sure that nobody falls through the cracks.
What with the big influx of people into the fed it can be hard to keep track of who's here/who's not/who needs a week off/who needs extended time off. This just seems to be a better way of keeping track of it so that nobody gets forgotten and those that need the time off get it. While I'm fine with the current booking as is I see something like this as potentially helpful to the staff which is why I chose to vote for it. Helping them helps us all in the end by getting cards/results up quicker.
...or something. I could just be talking out of my ass and that made no sense to anyone other than myself.

It's not hard to send a quick message saying "hey boss, I can't make it this week". Some people want to role-play every week and some will be busy and want time off so you just keep it as it is and if they need time off they will tell the staff. I think you should keep it as it is and simply do this. Those that didn't show up the week before or those you're weary about not showing up, and the newcomers/debuts etc, you put them in matches but you put them before the show airs. So you have your 5/6 main matches that your match writers write in full with an additional 2/3/4 matches that are pre-show and get a short write up. Each event you have the opening sequence with commentators and then the first segment is called "earlier tonight" and you simply wrote 1 paragraph for each match saying what happened, who won, how they won and any interferences or who impressed. This would cause less three and four ways and more emphasis on the main matches and results will be easier and quicker for staff. The guys in the show won't want to let there work slip to pre-air matches and those not getting fully written matches will work harder to get there name in the show. Just an idea...

I like the idea of a dark match or two with brief summarized results for newcomers/debuts/returnees. I know in another fed they've got a couple of, for lack of a better term, jobberish characters (they still RP) that they put against newcomers/returnees to either hit the ground running and/or get back on their feet.
