Dawn of a New Era
The exceptionally loud sounds of “Stand Your Ground” by CAVO are playing throughout the PA system, with the fans in attendance challenged to match the same level of noise. They are certainly a very close second, as the liveliness of their cheers are evident. The noise levels for Visionaries of Wrestling seem to rise with each event. The appreciation for the work put into making it the most entertaining Wrestling company around is obvious.
A ceiling camera in the center of the arena, with a downwards tilt, zooms in on one section of the crowd. Numerous signs are being held up as the fans cheer:
“Oddmin Has Cool Jokes” - A guy excitedly opens his very wide mouth and points to his sign for the failed comedian, Ron Oddmin.
“Pick My Mask!” – Underneath this sign, a young, innocent boy is seen wearing a Lion mask, but this animal is not scary as it’s wearing make up and dark red lipstick. The Mother is laughing hysterically next to him, unaware of the potential bullying her kid would receive back at school the following day. The Mother was clearly trying to get the mask scene by Beck Ramsey and Ace Watson who will take part in the "Inversa Máscara contra Máscara" Match later tonight.
“Casanova” – A young lady holds up a picture of a house with the word Casanova inside it, signifying that English has returned to his hometown.
“#ZiuFly” – An Asian teenage with the popular hashtag that’s been doing the rounds on Twitter.
“Taste The Chase” – This one is a T-Shirt attached to a sign. The female holding it is throwing it around violently to get the cameras attention. The homemade printed T-Shirt has Chase Michael standing over a former victim from his previous company, NWA. The T-Shirt shows obvious wear so she’s clearly an avid Wolf fan.
The camera gradually begins to rotate, revealing other members of the sold out Ted Reeve Arena. Further signs are on show:
“Valquist. Official. Winner” – Two men and one female clearly showing their love for Val, taking the 3 letters of this exciting company and relating it to the man himself.
“Ace is Ace” – Simple yet effective. A true fan of Ace Watson.
“Am I Xcellent Champion Approved?” – A blonde milf, with huge knockers, smiles seductively.
“Project Who?” – An older man asking about the disappearance of Project Snakehead.
The camera has already done a 360 degrees spin and goes round once again, this time picking up speed. Eventually, it goes so fast that we can no longer see anything apart from a blur of colors as we wiz round the arena at stupid miles per hour. This suddenly becomes the background as the word BREAKTHROUGH stamps onto the viewers screen.
Returning back to the arena, we’re now located at the commentator’s table with our familiar duo.
Axel Reid: Hello, and welcome to the 28th edition of Breakthrough. As always, we have so many interesting match ups for you tonight, right here in the Ted Reeve Arena in Toronto, Canada.
Ruby Parvati: Home sweet home for The Orphanage’s leader.
Axel Reid: Indeed, and if it wasn’t for what happened at Breakthrough 27, we would have been saying home sweet home to our World Champion, but he is not the Champ anymore!
Ruby Parvati: What a joke that is. He should still be Champion.
Axel Reid: It’s no laughing matter, Ruby. Ziu Zhong got the job done, as did Ryder Blade.
Ruby Parvati: Now there’s a Champion to be proud of. Hot too.
Axel Reid: Yeah with the help of Steve Herring. But what’s done is done. We have two new Champions heading into our next big PPV; Heatstroke.
Ruby Parvati: We’re going to smash it like we do every PPV.
Axel Reid: I agree Ruby!
Ruby Parvati: You have to agree with me, I’m a lady.
Axel Reid: With your tongue, you could be a lot of things.
Ruby Parvati: Please excuse my colleague who does not know how to treat a lady. Talking of how to treat a lady, tonight we also have a 6 person Tag Team match involving 3 females and 3 men. That is one main event you don't want to miss.
Axel Reid: There is a lot of heat going into that match, and there’s going to be a lot of heat being behind a mask for a month, as will be the case for either Beck Ramsey or Ace Watson after their match tonight. The loser must wear a mask until Heatstroke!
Ruby Parvati: Can’t we throw you in that match up, Axel? You could do with a new face.
Axel Reid: My face is perfectly fine!
Ruby Parvati: Oh well. It was worth asking.
Axel Reid: Thank you for that. Moving swiftly on, we also have further Quest for the Case qualifier matches tonight, and Patrick Jones will put his Zero Gravity belt on the line for the first time against Lexi Pearl. We have the Deity of Destrcution taking on the Baddest Wrestler on the roster in Cera. There’s also a couple of early matches involving fairly new roster members. Also, the ever impressing Cameron Behringer defends his unbeaten VOW record against Valquist.
Ruby Parvati: Don’t forget the most important match of the night; the Battle of Toronto!
Axel Reid: The fans right here tonight will certainly not forget that match. Casanova English takes on Seifer Black. What a great set of matches we have to look forward to.
The “Selfie Song” by Mippey5 begins to play throughout the arena and majority of the fans in attendance are showing their appreciation for their new World Visionary Champion. He strolls out with plenty of swagger and applauds as a “well jelly” Ryder Blade watches on backstage at all the attention Ziu Zhong is receiving.
Axel Reid: As you can see ladies and gentleman, our new World Champion is coming out to address the audience, although you won’t see him in action tonight.
Ruby Parvati: Poor Ziu. Was Cass too much for you?
Axel Reid: I believe it was a decision made by VOW Management, Ruby. As you can see, he’s as fit as he's ever been.
With the World title belt strapped over his right shoulder, a smartly dressed Ziu Zhong heads for the ring. He is wearing a navy suit with a clean, bright white shirt and stripped navy tie. This is not his usual attire, but special circumstances mean bringing out special clothes.
Ruby Parvati: Just look at this guy. What does he actually bring to this company?
Axel Reid: I think you and Ziu are more alike than you think. I don’t see why you hate the guy so much.
Ruby Parvati: His ridiculous quotes, his obsession with the fans, his magnetic pull of the fans, his Selfies, just everything about him I dislike. This guy has cheated his way to the top.
Axel Reid: Cheated? You must be talking about Casanova English there. Ziu Zhong has been on the longest, most eventful, and most successful journey of everybody here in VOW. How you can say this guy has cheated to get to the top I will never understand.
Ruby Parvati: We’ll agree to disagree. There’s so much luck on his side.
Axel Reid: First cheating, now luck?
Ruby Parvati: I just don't like him, Axel!
Ziu Zhong steps through the middle ropes with his shiny, polished, black shoes and grins enthusiastically with the World title belt still sleeping on his right shoulder. The fans are still cheering and Ziu takes the mic from a waiting hand through the ropes and holds it to his mouth but doesn't get a chance to speak.
Fans: Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero!
Ziu Zhong takes the mic down from his mouth and listens to the sea of Mr. Selfie followers.
Axel Reid: This guy. I love him!
Ruby Parvati: Oh give me a break!
Axel Reid: The fans are genius. Ziu went from Zero to a Hero and then Hero to Zero when he became the Zero Gravity Champion. Now that he is World Champion they have just reverted back to the original Zero to Hero part. Genius!
Ruby Parvati: Genius or pure stupidity?!
Ziu Zhong: Thank you, thank you. I appreciate all the love out there. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be standing here right now with the World title belt around my waist.
A mixture of Casanova English’s local home support and Ziu’s followers begin to create an unfamiliar mixed reception for the Human Centipede.
Fans: Booooo! Zero to Hero! Booooo! Zero to Hero! Booooo! Zero to Hero!
Axel Reid: Zero to Hero!
Ruby Parvati: Booooo!
Ziu Zhong: Last week-
The crowd begin to die down and decide to listen to what the man at the top of the VOW mountain has to say for himself.
Ziu Zhong: Last week I completed the dream that many Wrestlers backstage have. I became the World Visionary Champion. I agree with you, it’s came as a slight shock. Not shock in my ability, but the quickness of how it has came about. A few weeks back at Fate of the Gods, I stepped into the ring for the Main event at VOW’s special 1 year anniversary event. It was the last match of the night and I came face to face with my friend, Patrick Jones. As that bell rung throughout the arena, I was the defending Zero Gravity Champion. Just two weeks later, I ended up becoming the new VOW World Champion. I always knew I was capable of doing it, but holding the Zero Gravity belt for 6 months created a familiar pattern for me, and I must admit, it’s strange not to standing in this ring with the Zero Gravity belt around my waist. But that belt is in better hands now, and so is this World title. I told you all last week before my match that I didn’t need to spill my mouth with repetitive threats like English does. I remained quiet, and I took my moment. Funny thing is, if he didn’t interrupt my match with Patrick at Fate of the Gods, I may not be standing in this ring with this belt right now. Then again, English has been teasing me for far too long.
Cass Fans: Booooo! Booooo! Booooo!
Ziu’s Fans: Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero! Zero to Hero!
The unusual scenes of Ziu Zhong wearing a suit is surprisingly pleasant. He leans over the ropes on one of the sides and looks out at the array of fans.
Ziu Zhong: You know I’m right. You know that Casanova has always seen me as a threat, ever since I defeated him when we first stepped in the ring together, way back in December 2014. He knew that as soon as he cheated his way to the World title he would avoid me at all costs. He created problems elsewhere so that he wouldn’t have to face me again. He went searching for trouble so that I wouldn't get my chance. Why did he attack me at Fate of the Gods then, you may ask? Well that’s easy; he wanted to show his power. He had built this protection up around him known as The Orphanage and he felt invincible. He didn’t expect VOW to award me with a well deserved title shot, but he still felt that with his slaves in the background, he would easily overcome me. Well that backfired didn’t it. And that leads me to my next point. I would like to thank those who have common sense backstage, and a heart, and decided to come out and stop The Orphanage from getting involved. It was left to me and English to fight it out, and I got the job done, for a second time against him. Not only that but I was joined in celebration by the same people that came out to watch a fair match. It’s nice to see that common sense prevails, occasionally.
Ruby Parvati: Is this guy for real? Is he STILL talking?
Axel Reid: Sorry, Ruby, did you say something? This guy is the real deal. Has me hooked every time that he speaks.
Mr. Selfie walks over to the over side of the ring and leans over the ropes, giving his attention to other members in the audiences.
Ziu Zhong: And that leads me to why I’m out here tonight. I am reaching out to everybody backstage that has common sense. Everybody who disagrees with The Orphanage and what they’re about. Everybody backstage that wants to join me in pushing this company to the top rankings. I’m here, hand on heart, promising to lead us into a new era of Wrestling. Visionaries of Wrestling will be known worldwide. Year one was fantastic, but year two can be so much better. Let’s blow the other Wrestling companies out of the water. Let’s blow other Sports Entertainment companies out of the water. Let’s wave goodbye to those who refuse to contribute to making this company the best that it can be, and more. Let’s join our hunger together and make one hungry beast and swallow up all of the competition.
Ruby Parvati: This is some heavy...Axel, are you ok?
Axel Reid is near on brainwashed.
Axel Reid: I...err...I...me...I like Ziu. He good.
Ruby Parvati: Axel?
Axel shakes his head quickly.
Axel Reid: This guy is giving me goosebumps. VOW has a bright future!
Ziu Zhong: Let's takedown The Orphanage and end their games!
Fans: Wooooo! Wooooo! Wooooo!
Axel Reid: I think some of the fans that were booing him earlier on are actually cheering for him now.
VOW’s World Champion steps back and stares upwards towards the ceiling. Returning his sight back down to normal level, he rotates his body all the way round once so that everybody has been in his eye line.
Ziu Zhong: Now is the time for a new era for VOW. Now is the time for a true World Visionary Champion to take us forward. I invite competition. I look forward to sharing this ring with other talent out there in the back. So anybody that wants a piece of me or this belt, come and get it. Let's push VOW into a better, more successful era. On that note, I’m out.
Ziu Zhong ends his speech abruptly but is met with a chorus that he knows all too well.
Fans: SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE!
Axel Reid: Whether it’s New York or Canada, Ziu’s fanbase is huge.
Fans: SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE! SELFIE!
Ziu Zhong smiles as he approaches the ropes, pausing before exiting the ring. He decides to give in to the crowd’s demands.
Axel Reid: He’s going up top! I think we’re getting our first World Visionary Fan Selfie!
Ruby Parvati: You really need to get out more, Axel.
Axel Reid: Maybe you need to stay in more, Ruby. Ever thought about that?
Ruby sighs.
Mr. Zhong is now up top, in one of the corners of the ring with the World title belt lying over his shoulder. Pulling out his iPhone 6, he snaps another classic Selfie with the screaming fans in the background, all throwing their hands and signs up the air. One guy has even used a black permanent marker pen to cross out the words “Oddmin Has Cool Jokes” on his sign and replaced it with “Ziu Rules!!!!”
The Champ then does the same Selfie on each corner of the ring, respecting the crowds urge to be apart of one of his famous Selfies. Nothing will beat the “World’s Biggest Selfie” he performed a few months back with all the fans in attendance, taken from the stage with a Selfie stick. An absolute classic.
Ruby Parvati: Is our first match EVER going to start?
Axel Reid: He’s our World Champion. He deserves his moment.
Ruby Parvati: I believe Chris Mosh and Saul Maverick are eager to get out here. I’m sure they won’t be supporting Ziu on his “new era” if he stays out here any longer.
Axel Reid: More fool them! Ziu Zhong is the past, present, and future of this company! They should respect him. A new era has begun!
Ruby Parvati: I really worry about you, sometimes.
Ziu Zhong finally decides to call time on addressing the crowd, exiting the ring to the sounds of “Selfie Song” by Mippey5 whilst the gleaming World title belt shines back into the cameras lens.
Dreams really can come true.
Six Visions of Pain
Ryan Omega steps out onto the stage with a microphone.
Ryan Omega: Ziu. First off, congratulations on fulfilling your goal in becoming the pinnacle of what VoW has to offer. It was not an easy ride but week in and week out you earned your spot. Don't ever let anybody ever make you think otherwise.
Half the fans pop and the other half chant for English, begging for him to appear. Ziu simply smiles and holds the World Visionary Championship up high.
Ryan Omega: With that said, you were a fighting champion with the Zero Gravity Champion and you were a damn near unstoppable force. With that said, we want to push you to your limits. Your first World Visionary title defense will be at Heatstroke in the main event with Casanova English who has a rematch clause.
Ruby Parvati: So there is justice in the world.
The Director of Wrestling Operations waves his hand and speaks into the mic once more.
Ryan Omega: Myself and Stefan Frei have discussed this and we are using something inspired by former promoter, Joey Nitro. The National Wrestling Association used to use this large, massive domed cage with chambers. But this will be a smaller, simpler cage. We call this contest a Six Visions of Pain match.
Ziu stands there and adjusts his championship in his shoulder as he takes in the DWO's words.
Ryan Omega: This match starts with two visionaries and every five minutes a new visionary becomes active into the match, and then when all six superstars are in the ring. Each time a wrestler scores a pinfall or submission they become the interim or unofficial champion, and such reigns are not recorded as official reigns. Five minutes after the final wrestler enters, the visionary that scores the last pinfall or submission is declared the winner and becomes the official World Visionary Champion.
Zhong stares up the aisle to Omega in disbelief.
Ryan Omega: Along with Casanova English. Your other challengers will be former Xcel Champions Stacy Jones and Brett Carson, As well as veterans of the sport such as Valquist, and Seth Iser. We want the best of VoW to provide a challenge for Ziu Zhong. One that proves more difficult than the norm. Take this opportunity and soar to new heights.
"Selfie Song" blasts out around the Ted Reeve as Omega claps for the World Visionary Champion. Ziu in near shock. At the challenge ahead of him, but he regains his composure hand holds his championship title high above his head.
