Constance Chapin Vs. Joanna Thade

The arena darkens while fog wafts up from beneath the stage, lights going off with a strobe effect meant to resemble lightning as the sound of thunder rumbles through the speakers. The sounds go silent after a few moments before the lights come up with a blue tint, a spotlight shining down on two kneeling figures who rises from within the fog at the top of the ramp moments before "The Watcher" by Xandria starts.

"Hate! Greed! The world turns to ashes!
War! Creed! No sign from Heaven!
Burn! Bleed! All just for nothing!"

One of the two, throwing back her hood and thus revealing the skull mask beneath, is Emma Carlisle. She lifts her cane into the air as the opening chorus gives way to a more slightly more subdued, foreboding tune. At her side is Joanna Thade, wielding her runed warhammer, Hephty. She surveys the crowd like a feral hellcat choosing its prey. Coming up behind them are the latex-clad Doll who stands on Emma's side and Opeare Sheilds, who stands with Joanna. The foursome walks purposefully down to the ring, Emma and Joanna in front, Doll and Opeare in their wake. None pay any heed to the reaching hands and the reactions negative or otherwise hurled in their direction, stopping and staring into the ring as they arrive at the apron.

Jerry Heisenberg: The following contest is this evening's MAIN EVENT, and it is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the other side of sanity, weighing 145 pounds, and accompanied by Emma Carlisle, Opeare Shields and Doll, the Horsewoman of War, JOANNA! THADE!

Ruby Parvati: That was a mouthful...

Axel Reid: Joanna coming out here alongside her tag team partner and their managers, but of course, we are set for singles action here tonight, as Joanna faces Constance Chapin!

Ruby Parvati: Thank you, VoW, for making a match where I can't root for anyone!

"See the clouds in the sky still burning
Watch me counting the days in the rain

White eiderdown falls to the ground
Cover all that has been with death."

Emma pulls herself up onto the apron and enters the ring, casting aside her cloak as she walks to the center as Joanna runs and slides in under the bottom rope. Peeling off the mask, the Nihilist glares into the camera before tilting her head back and shrieking loudly. More of the thunder and strobe lighting erupts at this, briefly, before she lowers her head again. Joanna moves to take a knee before her, the maul portion of Hephty pressed to the mat while Emma places a black-nailed hand on her partner's shoulder, the Warchild affecting a delightedly malicious smile and shrieking laughter to match her partner's deafening wail. "The Watcher" fades out slowly and the Chaossworn back into one corner, unwillingly handing their armament to their respective seconds who remain outside the ring in their charges' corner. Joanna paces hungrily as Emma exits the ring as they await the bell to single Joanna's next "play time”. Shields and Doll are similarly told to retreat backstage, but choose instead to head for the commentary table – a move which, surprisingly, Emma condones.

Ruby Parvati: Um...excuse you?

Doll: We are here to offer some perspective to this match. Lady Death's orders.

Shields: Personally, I feel I might offer some insight into the whys and hows of what each competitor does..

Before the announcers can give their opinion one way or another, the foursome are interrupted by a familiar theme song, which brings a scattered cheer from the Henninger Athletic Center stands.

"Ain't you getting bored with these fake ass broads
I shows and proves, no doubt, how predictably so
Please excuse, if I come across rude
That's just me"

As the beat plays and the rhymes flow, the crowd starts to cheer as from behind the curtain comes the apathetic hipster herself, Constance Chapin. Constance walks toward the ring, making no rush to get there and making no acknowledgements towards the crowd. Her steps are quicker than before, moving in time to the beat; she'd be toe tapping if it wasn't such a tacky thing to do. Still she walks close to the sides, letting eager fans pat her on the shoulder or arm as she walks past them. By her side, Emily is her usual subdued self, having eyes only for her lover.

Jerry Heisenberg: And her opponent, from Manchester, England, weighing 148 pounds, and accompanied by Emily Darcy...she is the VoW Xcel Champion...CONSTANCE! CHAAAAPIIIINNN!!

Arriving at the ring, Constance takes the steps and then steps into the ring by going through the top and middle ropes. Inside the ring as the announcer is introducing her, Constance removes a pair of black finger-less gloves that are tucked into the waist of her bottoms and slips them on, preparing herself.

Axel Reid: The last time Constance Chapin was inside a VoW ring, she achieved the impossible, when...

Ruby Parvati: DON'T say it.

Axel Reid: But she...

Ruby Parvati: DON'T. Say. It.

Axel Reid: But she DID!!!

Ruby Parvati: Yes, but we don't need to keep reminding people. Let them go watch Double Jeopardy!

Doll: What she did or did not do is irrelevant. Tonight, she will suffer. I happen to know War's mindset going into this one, and I can assure you... it is not going to be pretty.

Shields: I am forced to concur. Ms. Chapin is not quite aware of what might be in store for her this evening, should Joanna get her way...

As the Horsewomen's aides give their view on the potential course of the evening's events, in the ring, Joanna has stepped up to Constance and is saying something to her opponent. She repeatedly points to her mouth, a manic smirk on her features, as Constance reacts as she would to pretty much anything: by balking and rolling her eyes. Still, Joanna is relentless, again and again pointing to the corner of her mouth, much to her opponent's discomfort.

Axel Reid: What's that all about?

Shields: Quite simple. Joanna is asking Ms. Chapin to punch her in the mouth.

Axel Reid: WHAT?! WHY?!?!?

Shields: Because she wants to bleed.

Axel Reid: She WHAT!?

Ruby Parvati: ...you people are SO weird...

For once, Constance seems to share Ruby's view, and continues to refuse to punch Joanna, in spite of her pleas. Instead, she goes for a half-hearted headlock, attempting to get the match under way. The Horsewoman of War, however, pushes her off with an elbow to the stomach, as she once again begins to plead with the Mancunian.

Ruby Parvati: Persistent, isn't she?

Shields: You have NO idea...

Eventually, faced with repeated denial, she opts to show Constance how easy her request is to fulfil; under the astonished gaze of commentators and fans, the blue-haired wrestler turns her own fist towards her face and punches herself in the mouth!

Axel Reid: GOOD GRIEF!

Shields: ...there we are.

As a small trickle of blood begins to drip from her now-busted upper lip, a grin appears on Joanna's face. After taking a moment to lick her own blood, the Warchild resumes her intimations towards her opponent, asking her to build on her work and punch her again. Constance, however, continues to staunchly refuse – even after Joanna tries to goad her on by pushing her in the chest. A second push has almost as little effect – other than to get Emily yelling at Joanna – and the Horsewoman finally gives up. Turning towards her partner at ringside, she offers a little shrug of resignation...

...right before viciously attacking Constance!

Doll: And there WE are!

Caught unaware, Constance is unable to react quickly enough as Joanna drives her to the turnbuckle with a series of punches. Once she has the Xcel Champion backed up against the corner, War digs a knee into her stomach, trapping her in place, then drives her nails into Constance's cheeks, leaving two red welts. The referee comes to attempt to separate the two women, but Joanna shakes him off irritably, continuing to claw at Constance. A second attempt yields the same result, and it is only at an indication from Emma that Joanna agrees to relent, rather than be disqualified.

Still, War continues her assault on Constance by getting her out of the corner and onto the center of the mat with a surprisingly effective German suplex – perhaps mocking the Mancunian's speciality. Constance is quick to roll through to her feet, but not quick enough – Joanna launches onto her with a Thesz press, and begins to deliver nail-assisted punches from her mounted position!

Ruby Parvati: I don't think Joanna wants to win this match – I think she's more interested in hurting that other woman!

Shields: That is a distinct possibility, Miss Parvati. I did make reference to Joanna's mindset earlier, and how it might catch Miss Chapin off-guard...

Once again, the referee gets summarily brushed off when he tries to intervene, but this time, his distraction is enough to allow Constance to fight back. The Xcel Champion throws the Warchild off her bodily and – as Joanna flies in the opposite direction – calmly rolls through to her feet. The Horsewoman of War, however, is right back on offence the minute she regains a vertical base. As such, Constance barely has time to get to her feet before being rammed through by a spear! Joanna barely gives the Mancunian time to hit the mat before bending over and grabbing her by the hair for a DDT!

Shields: Joanna is on the war path this evening. She has been all week. Miss Chapin is both the unlucky recipient, as well as the cause for my patient's distress. As such, it is hardly surprising that we are witnessing this sort of behavior from her tonight.

Axel Reid: Constance Chapin not being given an inch so far, and perhaps that is sound strategy from Joanna – it is never a good idea to give the Xcel Champion space to operate...

Ruby Parvati: Stop-calling-her-that!!!

Axel Reid: ...that's what she IS!

Blood from her busted lip dots the vicinity of Joanna's lips, a drop or two spilling onto Constance's hair as Joanna once again brings her to her feet. This time, however, the Mancunian reacts, landing a series of punches to the Warchild's stomach and making her reel backwards. In this manner, one punch at a time, Constance manages to rattle Joanna just enough that she gives her a bit of space – which the Xcel Champion promptly takes advantage of.

Axel Reid: Front suplex!

Doll: A mere glimmer of false hope...that woman might as well give up now.

Despite Doll's assessment, however, the successful move seems to have restored Constance's hold on things, and she remains in control as she drops down to apply an armbar on Joanna in the center of the ring. The Warchild manages to avoid the attempt, but does not have the chance to fully get to her feet before Constance pulls her down into a rollup! The referee drops down!

TW—Kickout by Joanna!


Doll: It will take far more than that! Foolish woman...

As she rolls through to her feet, Joanna lets out a primal shriek of rage, promptly beginning to stomp away at Constance. The referee once again tries to intervene, only for Joanna to round on him, finally tired of his constant attempts at doing his job!

Shields: You really ought not to push Joanna's patience...someone ought to have told that official as much...

Doll: ...I am pleased they didn't, personally...this should be fun.

The referee, to his credit, tries to stand his ground; still, things do not look so good for him, as Joanna continues to stalk him, a manic glint in her eye.

Good thing, then, that Constance manages to get to her feet before any harm can come to the official, and once again attract Joanna's attention by pulling her into a bridging German suplex! Though still rattled, the referee does his job and counts!

TH-Joanna kicks out!

Doll: Oh, dear. She has not learned her lesson at all, I see...

Indeed, Joanna only seems more furious at each attempt from her opponent to bring her down. This time, she is positively spitting as she returns to her feet. Not wasting another second, and before Constance can fully recover, she backs up a few steps and measures her opponent. Then, she takes off running, catching Constance with...

Ruby Parvati: PSY-KICK!

Shields: PSY-KICK!

Doll: PSY-KICK!

Joanna glowers at the referee as she drops down for the cover!

TH—Kickout by Constance Chapin!


Another scream of frustration escapes Joanna as she picks her opponent up and throws her across the ring. The semi-conscious Constance slumps against the turnbuckle and slips half-way to the floor, in perfect position for Joanna to sprint in and hit her corner front dropkick to her opponent's chest!

Axel Reid: What impact on that dropkick, and Joanna Thade is a woman possessed here tonight in Syracuse!

Shields: I did warn you...

Satisfied with her handiwork, Joanna throws a look and a smile towards Emma – who responds in kind – before backing up a few steps. She waits for Constance to get halfway to her feet, then flies in with her spinning back kick...

...to find nobody home! Constance spins out of the way, and Joanna connects with only the turnbuckle!

Axel Reid: The agility of Constance Chapin! And now...straightjacket suplex! A mocking choice, perhaps?

Doll: If it was, I fail to see the humor...

Still, intentional or not, Constance's move did buy her some time, which she uses to regroup on the outside, under the concerned eye of her ringside advisor. Emily also keeps an eye on Emma across the way, but The Nihilist makes no effort to approach, instead simply gracing the pair with a chilling smirk.

Joanna, however, is far from down, and her next move does leave an impact. Seeing Constance is otherwise engaged, she does not hesitate – she vaults onto the top rope and, from there, hurtles onto Emily and Constance with a swanton bomb!

Axel Reid: GOOD GRAVY!

Ruby Parvati: That's Zahara's line, Ax...

Axel Reid: ...DID YOU SEE WHAT SHE JUST DID?!

Axel was not the only one the move had an impact on – the crowd inside the Syracuse arena have started a chant of 'HOLY SHIT!' directed at Joanna. Obviously, it is being censored in the broadcast, but deafening nonetheless. Sadly, its main recipient can't hear it, sprawled as she is over her rival and the latter's manager. Inside the ring, the referee starts his count!

Constance begins to stir, reaching up to push the Warchild off to the side so she can crawl from underneath her.


FIVE!


Constance successfully wiggles from underneath Joanna and begins to cover the short distance to the ring.


SIX!


Before the Englishwoman can make it there, however, the still-conscious Warchild grabs her leg, to halt her progress!


SEVEN!


Without thinking twice, Constance lands a curb stomp to War's head, causing her to release the hold on her trousers!


EIGHT!


Constance hops forward and rolls under the bottom rope, breaking the count for herself!


NINE!


Somehow, Joanna manages to scramble to her feet, even after the curbstomp, and lunges toward the apron! She hoists herself up...

...and rolls under the ring just as the referee's hands go up one last time!

Axel Reid: In the NICK of time!

Shields: Naturally. I can assure you, Joanna was humiliated by the result of her match two weeks ago. She would not let the same thing happen again. Even if that other woman had hit her with a tank, Joanna would have made it back to that ring on time!

Ruby Parvati: You have to admire her resilience, if nothing else...

Despite Joanna's last-second survival, however, it is Constance who now has the upper hand in the contest, having had the time and opportunity to regroup and recover. As such, when War slides back into the ring, she is greeted with an armbar attempt from the Mancunian! She promptly reaches for the nearby ropes, but Constance keeps it locked in the allotted four and a half seconds regardless!

Axel Reid: Constance is beyond courtesy now. This is becoming personal between these two women!

Doll: To War, it was always personal, you dolt!

Despite having to release her armbar, Constance retains the upper hand, and brings Joanna to her feet for her patented belly-to-belly! It is crisply and beautifully executed, and Constance promptly covers!

Axel Reid: Kickout from Joanna Thade!

Doll: Your tone of surprise tells me you don't know War very well at all...

Retaining her poker face, Constance brings her opponent to her feet once again, landing an atomic drop, quickly followed by a belly-to-back suplex! She covers again!

...Kickout!


Axel Reid: Another kickout from Thade!

Doll: Still with the tone of surprise...

Still unfazed, Constance attempts to lock in an abdominal stretch. An elbow to the nose from Joanna Thade puts an end to that design, but – thinking on her feet – the Mancunian then goes for her patented Figure 4 leg lock. Joanna, however, reacts quickly, and by the time Constance locks it in, she is within grabbing distance of the ropes. As such, after the usual five seconds, the referee forces the Mancunian to break the hold, indicating her opponent is grabbing the ropes. Constance rolls her eyes, but complies, changing her strategy once again.

Axel Reid: The reverse Figure-4 is Constance's go-to move to end matches...but it was unsuccessful here...

Shields: ...naturally...

Doll: ...naturally...

This time, Constance's facade does crack a bit, but she manages to retain enough composure to grab Joanna, apply a cobra clutch, then sweep her legs, completing the move known as Constance Clutch!

Axel Reid: Constance Clutch connecting, and a cover!

...NO!!!


Axel Reid: At the LAST POSSIBLE SECOND!!

Doll: ...and still you sound surprised...

THIS time, Constance is visibly surprised – at least judging by the expression on her face. Still, she keeps her focus on her opponent as she once again picks her up, slinging her over her shoulders.

Axel Reid: THIS could be it! Fireman's carry gutbusteeeerrr...

..NO! Joanna slips off of Constance's shoulders!!! Then, a malevolent grin on her features, she takes advantage of the referee's position and flings her opponent right AT the official, who goes down from the impact!!!

Axel Reid: WHAT?! That was on purpose!!!!

Ruby Parvati: It was never on purpose!!!

Shields: Actually, it might well have been... He DID challenge her more than once. Joanna is not a patient woman.

Intentional or not, the incident gave Joanna the opening she needed, and she promptly gestures to her lover at ringside. Understanding the gesturing, Emma grabs a chair from ringside and shoves it into the ring. The two Horsewomen lock eyes for a second, both smirking, before Joanna turns around and walks over to the downed Constance. She pulls her towards the center of the ring, away from the referee's inert body...

Axel Reid: Oh, for Heaven's sake!


WHACK!


The blow lands on Constance's back, with a metallic twang! Another follows!


WHACK!


And another!


WHACK!


And...

..NO! Joanna's hand is stayed! By EMILY DARCY!

Doll: Foolish, foolish, foolish...

The self-styled ringside advisor has recovered enough to come to her lover's aid, but – just as Doll had said – it is foolish. Considerably stronger than the artist, Joanna has no trouble prying the chair free from her grasp and hitting Emily herself with it!


WHACK!


The moody manager tumbles over the top rope and to the outside! As for Joanna, she turns her attention back to her quarry, and resumes her prior activity.

WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACKWHACKWHACKWHACK...!!!


The blows rain down on Constance with increasing rapidity, as Joanna hisses and shrieks at her fallen opponent. The word 'lackey' is repeated several times, with either a mocking or questioning intonation, as shot upon shot peppers the Mancunian's back and head. Then, in one triumphant yet still angry gesture, Joanna tosses the chair aside and motions to Emma once again! The Nihilist once again understands her lover's gist perfectly, walking over to the unconscious referee. She and Joanna take a moment to relieve the official of his shirt before Emma puts it on – Constance, naturally, displaying no reaction in the meantime. As a result of her assault, Joanna has all the time in the world to saunter over to her fallen opponent and place a foot over her prone body, adding insult to injury.

Axel Reid: This is a travesty!

Emma, now in her referee stripes, smirks up at her as she drops down and counts. At the announce table, Doll counts along, with equal glee.

THREE!!!


The Syracuse crowd's stunned silence turns to deafening boos as Emma holds up her lover's hand, and the two exchange a kiss right in the center of the ring!

Ruby Parvati: She won? She won??? SHE WON??

Axel Reid: ...of course she won. I could have won that match the way she did. There's no merit. No merit whatsoever.

Doll: I would watch how I talked about the Horsewomen, were I you... This was a message. That woman was the pawn. The Horsewomen WILL be taken seriously at VoW.

So tainted is the win that Jerry Heisenberg does not even announce it – not that he would have been audible over the boos of the crowd. Said boos only intensify when Emma herself gets a kick in at the fallen Constance – a sort of payback for old history between the two.

Axel Reid: Oh, enough already!

Doll: ...that woman has had that coming for over six months. If you ask me, Lady Death was merciful to leave it at one blow. Now, if you will excuse me...

With this, both Doll and Shields make their departure, joining the two Horsewomen.

Axel Reid: Well, ladies and gentlemen, Joanna Thade has beaten the Xcel Champion here tonight, but in highly controversial fashion!

Ruby Parvati: I guess it's like Little Lady Latex said...those two were sending a message. They seem really good at THAT, if nothing else...

Suddenly, as Joanna stands bleeding in the ring laughing to herself, In This Moment’s “Sick Like Me” blares through the speakers. Nodding to herself, Joanna begins a slow clap for Sky Sangue as the General Manager appears and walks down to the ring, dressed for business with a look that spoke to Joanna’s comments earlier tonight.

Axel Reid: And here comes the consequence of her actions!

Ruby Parvat: They were sending a message, but I fear Sky is going to MAKE one now!

Emma, Doll and Shields look on as Sky enters the ring, knowing full well anyone attacking her would result in an immediate termination. Joanna smiles as she licks her bloodied lip, showing a satisfied outlook as the crowd wonder what's about to happen. Sky raises her microphone, standing close to Joanna with a cold glare.

Sky Sangue: Are you done? Because this is where the line is drawn. I hoped I wouldn't have to do this so soon... but it seems I have no other choice.

Joanna shrugs at the comment before waving Emma over. Sky continues to express her stance towards the two and their group as a whole. Emma hands Joanna Hephty, raising the tension in the arena as the crowd gets on the edge of their seats.

Sky Sangue: Firstly, you physically assault an official of VoW... one who I have already talked with regarding his recent incompetence. He assured me he made a genuine mistake, but he was still given a warning. Then, you blatantly disregard my rules further by recklessly assaulting Constance Chapin. I cannot allow you to walk out of this ring unpunished. You have egregiously--

Joanna: Will you get to the point Sky? I don’t care about your personal issues of our actions, you hired us knowing our reputation. You signed us after we told you things wouldn’t stay the same. So what’s the point, why come out here and say all this for a pay deduction?

Sky Sangue: Do you think you'll be getting a pay deduction? Because I have some interesting news for you.

The crowd cheers, doing so as Sky faintly smirks.

Sky Sangue: You won't have any pay cut, Ms Thade. As a matter of fact, you are not going to be paid for an entire month. Reason being... you are hereby SUSPENDED.

The crowd roars as Miss Sangue drops the news. As the news hits Joanna she doubles over in laughter as Emma stands beside her partner, staring a hole through the General Manager. Taking only a single step forward Emma changes the entire mood as Joanna stops and holds her lover off with an arm blocking her path. Emma menacing gaze turns to Joanna before being quizzical as the Horsewomen War bows to Sky.

Joanna Thade: So this is where you want to draw the line? Well then I’ll take my leave, give you some time to move things along. But don’t misunderstand Sky. This changes NOTHING! I’ll go quietly, no need for an escort, but I’m just one woman, and there are three others just as bad as me. And there is no one, no one, in that locker room like us. Even VoW’s prince, English can merely hope to have as much influence as we do now.

Joanna lets her comments sink into the crowd as it goes silent.

Sky Sangue: I do respect your tenacity and your abilities, Ms Thade... along with Ms Carlisle's. In fact there is a sense of... enjoyment... I get from moments like this. But you have to understand... certain guidelines must be established here. There will be no special treatment for anyone, especially you two and the other two Horsewomen I granted a contract. You overstepped your boundaries, Ms Thade, and these are the consequences. And as for those who have influence here? The only one who has any influence and control in this company... is me.

The crowd cheers again, doing so as Emma's maintains her annoyed glare. Joanna tilts her head before she nods.

Joanna Thade: Okay... I get the pickle you’re in. But before I go, mind if I clarify a point?

Sky Sangue: Not particularly... since we are short on time.

Joanna Thade: Well I'll do it anyway. Everyone in the back. understand that this won’t stop our ride, won’t halt our momentum, this will only make the storm worse. We will bleed for our cause, we will fight until we lay limp in the ring, we will endure. If you think I went too far tonight, fine. I’ll just reign it in for your little TV program. But come your PPV, come your big shows, you won’t be able to hide behind THE BUSINESS OF CHAOS.

Finally, Joanna drops the microphone, leaving the ring as a host of security personnel surround the group. Emma and Joanna walk away arm in arm, doing so as Sky Sangue coldly watches them leave.

Axel Reid: Joanna Thade has been suspended!

Ruby Parvati: You do NOT mess with our General Manager Sky Sangue! SHE has the power, and her rules WILL be obeyed!

After Ruby makes this declaration, the scene fades to black to mark the end of the broadcast.
