Injury Update
Darius Yates is shown standing backstage with a microphone in his hand.
Darius Yates: Ladies and gentlemen, Kelsey Spencer.
The audience pops as Kelsey walks into frame, bringing a smile to her face.
Darius Yates: Kelsey, we’re just moments away from the match where you’ll be teaming with Heath Williams to face Tyron Bickerton and Rebecca Saint. Do you have any final thoughts you’d like to share?
Kelsey Spencer: I’m not sure what’s gonna happen in this one, Darius. Tyron and Becky have done all they can to try and break Heath and I down, but look at us; we’re still standing, ready to fight. Becky Saint has done all she can to try and break me, because she knows I’m a rival she’ll never be able to overcome in a fair environment.
Darius Yates: We saw at Breakthrough 45 that you risked your freedom to win Mimi Mai’s… Why did you agree to that stipulation?
Kelsey falls silent for a moment. Pushing back the tears, she clears her throat.
Kelsey Spencer: Mimi Mai is just like the old Kelsey Spencer; she will do anything for approval, because she believes in her own mind that she's not good enough. She may not realise it, but what Mimi needs right now is a friend -- a real friend. I wanna show her that there’s more to life than just receiving praise, that being true to yourself is the real key to happiness. And, if I’ve gotta risk my own personal misery to show her that, then I will.
Darius Yates: One quick question before you go… We’ve seen you state on social media that your shoulder has been giving you trouble as of late. How’s that going for you tonight?
With a roll of her shoulder and a deep sigh, Kelsey responds.
Kelsey Spencer: It’s fine… I don’t wanna let on just how bad it could be feeling, in case Becky Saint’s watching right now... It's common knowledge by now that a shoulder injury almost ended my career many years ago -- long before I came to VoW. But, I will say that regardless of my shoulder situation, I plan on taking the fight to both those cowards tonight!
Darius Yates: Thanks for your time, Kelsey.
Kelsey Spencer: Thanks, Darius.

Heath Williams / Kelsey Spencer Vs. Tyron Bickerton / Rebecca Saint
The camera returns to a shot of the arena for not even a second before Drowning Pool’s “Reminded” blares throughout it. Tyron Bickerton slowly strides out onto the stage as the audience boos. Almost as soon as the song began playing, it fades out and is replaced by “Hello Bitches” by CL -- prompting fans to boo even louder. Rebecca strolls out from behind the curtain, her snow white robe elegantly sweeping along behind her. She comes to a stop, standing by her man’s side as Mimi Mai Saint trails along.
Jerry Heisenberg: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is a tag team match set for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Earl Coleman and Mimi Mai Saint… From Saint City, at a combined weight of 421 pounds… The Saint City Affinity, Tyron Bickerton and Rebecca Saint!
Ruby Parvati: Here they come, Axel! VoW’s newest and hottest power couple!
Axel Reid: What both of these individuals have done to people they once called friends is appalling! They deserve each other, if you ask me…
Ruby Parvati: No-one did. They’re forces to be reckoned with individually... Imagine what kinda havoc they can wreak together!
The pair make their way down the entrance ramp, as Tyron holds the ropes open for Rebecca and Mimi to climb in the ring. Rather than join them, Earl Coleman slithers over to the announce table like the snake he is, helping himself to a headset.
“Because I’m Awesome” by The Dollyrots begins to play, and the audience pops when they see Kelsey Spencer -- complete with a heavily taped up shoulder -- make her way onto the entrance ramp a little less enthusiastic than usual; it’s clear that the constant clashes with Rebecca Saint, and the sneak attacks she’s had to endure as a result, have severely strained her already-injured body.
Jerry Heisenberg: And now, introducing their opponents! First, from The Gold Coast, weighing in at 124 pounds… Kelsey Spencer!!
When she’s midway down the ramp, she stands idle as her theme fades to silence. Enduring Mimi’s taunting from within the ropes, she turns to the entranceway as “Little Pills” by Devilskin plays to a thunderous ovation.
Axel Reid: This crowd has come unglued! It’s deafening in here!
From behind the curtain, The Hardcore Hero trudges -- the I4NI Title belt strapped firmly around his waist -- as he has Warhammer resting across his shoulders, causing the fans to pop even more. Tyron grabs a hold of the referee’s shirt and demands that he remove the deadly weapon from the hands of Williams, but he seems unwilling to do so.
Ruby Parvati: Look at this clown, still coming back for more…
Axel Reid: He’s in tremendous pain, but as we witnessed in his match against the World Visionary Champion on the last Breakthrough, Heath Williams is a man that will still give it everything he’s got!
Earl Coleman: Let me get this straight -- your company actually condones the fact that this lunatic carries around a weapon that could potentially kill someone?
Ruby Parvati: It’s disgusting, isn’t it? I’ve been lobbying for it to be outlawed!
Williams and Spencer meet on the middle of the ramp, nodding to each other and continuing on their way. Both competitors are focused on the task at hand; dealing with the two individuals who have made their lives hell as of late. They climb into the ring, and Bickerton and Saint promptly exit on the other side.
As the music dies down, Williams and Spencer retreat to their corner as Bickerton and Saint climb onto the apron -- Spencer elects to start the match for her team as Saint orders Bickerton to begin, possibly to avoid facing Spencer straight from the get-go.
DING DING DING!
Spencer motions for Bickerton to bring his best - however, he simply stands idly by his corner. He extends his arm, pointing over Spencer’s shoulder at Williams; the crowd pops at the supposed suggestion of Bickerton and Williams finally mixing it up in the match. Spencer motions to Williams and Bickerton nods with affirmation - Spencer slaps Williams on the shoulder for a tag, and the crowd cheers immensely as he climbs through the ropes.
Axel Reid: It’s gonna happen! Bickerton and Williams!
All of a sudden, Bickerton pivots in his place, slaps Saint’s raised hand and rolls under the bottom rope to a chorus of boos.
Ruby Parvati: Hahaha! False alarm, Axel!
Earl Coleman: Tyron’s a smart man; he knows the longer he waits to tangle with that psychopath, the more it’s going to throw him off his game.
Saint climbs into the ring as the legal competitor to meet up with Williams. The two tie-up, with the much-stronger Williams forcing Saint back into the corner; the referee calls for a break, giving Saint the opportune moment to deliver a jaw-rattling slap to the Hardcore Hero. Williams retaliates by latching onto Saint with a side headlock, but she manages to hook the top rope before he can deliver the desired running bulldog move, causing him to crash hard onto the canvas. Saint follows up with a hard leg drop, which lands right across the face of her opponent.
Instinctively, Williams grabs for his neck, which was previously injured back at Nothing Else Matters by Bickerton.
Axel Reid: Woah, wait a minute…
Ruby Parvati: Did Miss Saint just re-aggravate that old injury of Heath’s?
Axel Reid: Certainly looks that way…
Spencer comes rushing into the ring with no regard for the rules to check on Williams, who is still lying supine in the ring with both hands clasping his neck. The referee orders Saint back to her corner, while also demanding that Spencer leave the ring or suffer a disqualification loss.
Earl Coleman: He was a fool to even think of competing tonight. That’s what he gets.
Axel Reid: You’re just as heartless as the people you work for! Neck injuries are serious!
Earl Coleman: I agree, they are. That’s exactly why he should’ve stayed out of the ring.
Under the official’s discretion, Kelsey is permitted to take Heath’s place as the legal competitor. Standing opposite her ultimate rival, Spencer explodes out of the corner, taking Saint down with a hard drop kick out of nowhere - Saint stands back up, only to get taking down hard once again; this time, with a hip toss. She quickly scurries toward the ropes, desperate for a reprieve from the onslaught she certainly wasn’t expecting.
She makes the tag to her boyfriend, causing Kelsey to hesitate momentarily; it’s clear that a direct approach similar to the one she just performed may have worked on Rebecca Saint, but will prove ineffective against a man of Bickerton’s stature. She circles around her much larger opponent before going in for a waist lock - she successfully complete the go-behind, and locks her arms around his waist to perform a German Suplex - but he’s far too heavy for her to lift, especially with a damaged shoulder. Bickerton easily frees himself from her grip, and as expected, targets the injured arm.
Earl Coleman: Honestly, what was she thinking? Bickerton’s built like an ox, there’s no way she can lift him.
Bickerton wrenches Spencer’s arm into a hammerlock and tags Saint in, who delivers a stiff kick to the trapped arm; the sudden jolt causing more damage to the shoulder. Spencer staggers across the ring the instant Bickerton releases her, shaking her arm to try and get feeling back into it. Saint is relentless -- she viciously shoves Spencer in the corner, extends her arm and delivers a flurry of elbow shots to the shoulder region -- Spencer screams in pain as the referee pulls Saint from the assault. As if he was awoken by her cries, Heath Williams climbs to his feet on the apron, grabbing a hold of the tag rope with one hand whilst holding his neck with the other; he’s in a bad way, but he’s unwilling to allow his partner to fight through the match alone.
Spencer reaches out toward her partner’s corner for a tag, but Saint catches her ankle, and drags her into the opposite corner to switch active competitors; Spencer’s almost flattened by a splash that most certainly drives the air out of her lungs - Bickerton’s over twice her size, after all.
He drags Spencer’s limp body into the middle of the ring, and goes for a pin.

Spencer manages to roll her good shoulder off the mat to break the count before three. Williams desperately extends his arm to her -- just as she’s about to make the tag, however, Williams is blasted by a forearm shot from Bickerton. Seeing red, Williams tries to enter the ring illegally, only to be restrained by the official -- with the authority’s back turned, Bickerton and Saint viciously stomp away at the injured Spencer.
Axel Reid: What’s this now? Is this absolutely necessary?!
Ruby Parvati: You do whatever it takes to get ahead, Axel! Stop being such a goody-two-shoes!
Axel Reid: I believe in the spirit of fair competition! These two snakes have never fought a fair fight in their lives!
Earl Coleman: Bite your tongue, Reid! I will not sit here and listen to you slander my client. Bickerton knows what it takes to get rid of these pathetic posers who call themselves “professional wrestlers”. He, alongside Becky Saint, is doing VoW an excellent service.
Fans voice their distaste as Saint slips out of the ring, avoiding the referee’s vision by mere seconds. Bickerton attempts another cover.
ONE!
TWO!
Spencer shoots her shoulder up again. Dragging her like a rag doll -- by her injured right arm, no less -- Bickerton props Spencer into a seated position in his team’s corner before tagging Saint in. What follows is a devastating double team move from the Affinity, where Bickerton whips his own partner into the corner, who crashes into Spencer with a cross body. Bickerton climbs out as Saint goes for the pinfall.
ONE!
TWO!
THR--
Spencer uses her left arm to grab a hold of the bottom rope, breaking the official’s count.
Ruby Parvati: Woah, she’s lucky.
Earl Coleman: If that were Bickerton who performed the crossbody, I can guarantee you Kelly Spencer wouldn’t live to tell the tale.
Axel Reid: It’s Kelsey, not Kelly.
Earl Coleman: Oh, like it matters! Don’t correct me.
Saint latches onto Spencer’s arm once more, presumably to inflict further damage -- however, miraculously, Spencer is able to escape the attack by using her other hand to grab a handful of Saint hair and drop down into a stunner position. Saint’s head whips back as she falls to the mat, giving Spencer the opportune moment to make the tag to her partner at long last.
But, she opts not to. Instead, she takes a glimpse at Williams hunched over in pain, and decides to try and put Saint in a surfboard submission.
Axel Reid: Hmm… Spencer didn’t make the tag.
Ruby Parvati: She’s fueled by hatred, clearly. She wants to be the one to defeat Miss Saint!
Earl Coleman: Foolish mistake. If she stays in there much longer, that arm of hers will be snapped clean off.
Williams pleads for the tag, but Spencer remains defiant, pushing through the pain to wrench the hold on her former mentor.
Axel Reid: Wait a minute… I think Kelsey Spencer is actually protecting Heath Williams!
Ruby Parvati: What are you prattling on about?
Axel Reid: Kelsey knows that Heath Williams is wrestling with an injury much more serious than her own… I think she’s refusing to make the tag so that he can be closer to 100% for Fate of the Gods!
Earl Coleman: That’s ludicrous. Absolutely ludicrous. Williams would never do the same for her; no-one in their right mind would.
Whilst wrenching the hold, Spencer’s arm spasms and she instinctively lets go to tend to it -- allowing Saint more than enough time to blast Spencer with a vicious forearm strike that has her seeing stars.
ONE!
TWO!
THR--
Spencer kicks out of the subsequent pin attempt, but she’s running on empty by this stage -- she’s largely unresponsive, just going through the motions, relying on her instincts to get her out of trouble.
With his frustration building in the corner, Williams is at boiling point -- all it takes is a one-finger salute from Bickerton on the other side of the ring to set him off; he drops off the apron, grabs his Warhammer and marches around the outside toward his former best friend. Bickerton drops to the arena floor and takes off up the ramp, Williams in pursuit, fans cheering at what they’re seeing.
Ruby Parvati: Williams is an animal! Someone stop him!
Axel Reid: You gonna do something, Earl?
Without speaking another word, Coleman drops his headset and hastily heads up the ramp, where Bickerton and Williams disappeared through the curtain moments earlier.
Meanwhile, back in the ring, it’s essentially become a one-on-one match between Kelsey Spencer and Rebecca Saint. Firmly in control, Saint latches onto Spencer’s arm and captures her in an excruciating armbar. Her screams of pain ring out through the arena as she flails around, desperately looking for a way to escape.
With nowhere to go, and no partner present to help her escape, Spencer has no choice but to tap out.
Jerry Heisenberg: Here are your winners, by submission… The Saint City Affinity, Tyron Bickerton and Rebecca Saint!
“Hello Bitches” plays to signify the end of the match, but Saint isn’t interested in releasing the hold -- if anything, she wrenches the hold harder. The pitch of the scream being produced from Spencer’s body is akin to someone being brutally tortured.
Axel Reid: Come on! Enough of this! Step in there, referee!
Ruby Parvati: She needs to learn her lesson, Axel!
Saint finally releases the hold, only to order Mimi to apply the exact same hold as she grabs a microphone. Her theme fades out as Mimi locks the armbar on Spencer, with Saint standing on her other arm to prevent any escape.
Rebecca Saint: What’s the matter, Kelsey? Don’t have what it takes anymore?
The fans boo, and Kelsey desperately tries to escape the hold -- surprisingly, Mimi is able to apply a binding armbar that proves fairly effective.
Rebecca Saint: I bet your entire career is flashing before your eyes right about now, isn’t it? I warned you about this… I told you this was going to happen if you opposed me, but you did it anyway. And now, you’re just one stomp away from my tearing every tendon and muscle in your shoulder clean off the bone!
She bends down closer to Kelsey, her knee placed firmly in Spencer’s left arm pit to continue to immobilize her.
Rebecca Saint: You can end all of this right now, my child. We don’t need to take this to Fate of the Gods. If you pledge your allegiance to Saint City, I’ll let you leave this ring with your career. Refuse, and I’ll end it right now!
Axel Reid: Can we get security or someone out here?! This needs to end!
Rebecca Saint: What’s it going to be, Kelsey?
She holds the microphone in front of Kelsey’s mouth for her verbal response. Gritting her teeth, she gives her answer.
Kelsey Spencer: I...will never...join you again..!
The fans cheer as Rebecca stands, visibly displeased with her response.
Rebecca Saint: Wrong answer.
She delivers a swift and forceful stomp to Spencer’s trapped arm, catching her right on the surgically repaired shoulder. Spencer howls in pain as Mimi releases the hold -- she flails around on the mat in a fit of pain, kicking her legs and clutching her arm.
Axel Reid: No! Kelsey Spencer almost had her career ended four years ago with a severed shoulder tendon! And now, Rebecca Saint may have just ended it with this atrocious assault!
Ruby Parvati: Hey! Miss Saint clearly stipulated what would happen if Kelsey refused to join up with her. She’s only got herself to blame.
“Hello Bitches” plays for a third time tonight as Rebecca and Mimi leave, proud of their handiwork. Medical personnel arrive to tend to Kelsey Spencer, who’s still floored in the ring, tears streaming down her face.
Axel Reid: We may have just seen the last of Kelsey Spencer…
The scene fades to the next one...
