We open to the VoW newsroom where News Reporter, Joey Nitro can be seen sitting behind his desk. He looks up into the camera with a smile across his face as a graphic displaying his name appears at the bottom of the screen.
Joey Nitro
Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the third edition of Nitro News, with me Joey Nitro. Tonight’s episode will cover news from Breakthrough edition twenty-nine, the final stop before VoW’s Heatstroke Pay-Per-View...and after that I shall be joined for an interview with Visionary, Valquist to close the show...
The camera pans to the side a little and a still of Seth Iser is shown.
Joey Nitro
Kicking things off tonight, the original Main Event of Breakthrough twenty-nine was set to be a one on one contest between Seth Iser and Valquist. However the match had to be cancelled after it was discovered that Iser suffered a couple of cracked ribs due to the warhammer shot from Cera during their match at Breakthrough twenty-eight. Whether or not the Deity of Destruction will be able to compete at Heatstroke is unknown at this time, and there has been no word from neither Iser himself or his advocate, Vincent Moretti. Stay tuned to VoW for any updates on Iser’s condition as and when we receive them...
The still changes to one depicting a very cocky looking Ryder Blade with his Xcel title draped over his shoulder.
Joey Nitro
In the match that ended up being the Main Event, pitting Xcel Champion, Ryder Blade against World Visionary Champion, Ziu Zhong...once again, the Dude with the Tude came out victorious when no-one thought he would. The Blademeister has been on one Hell of a roll since defeating Valquist many moons ago, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon. Unfortunately for Zhong, things went from bad to worse when he would be assaulted by Brett Carson after Casanova English vowed that whether it be him or Carson, a member of The Orphanage will walk out of Heatstroke as World Champion...
Once again the image changes and this one depicts the Twin City Tag Team Champions, Mattaki Fukushuu and Neptune.
Joey Nitro
If the uncertainty of having all six competitors who are meant to be competing in the World Visionary Championship match at Heatstroke was bad enough, after what Brett Carson did to Neptune in a tag team bout pitting the Twin City Tag champs against him and Cera of The Orphanage, when the titles are set to be defended at Heatstroke against Shay McClure and Jermaine Brown of the Gang Stars, Fukushuu is going to have to do it alone as Neptune will be unable to make it...
The image changes yet again and this time it depicts stills of Sofia Halter and Ace Watson celebrating their respective victories.
Joey Nitro
In lighter news, we witnessed the final two spots in the Quest For The Case Ladder match taken by Sofia Halter who defeated Zakk Morris in a one on one contest and Ace Watson who defeated Keisha Britely and Chris Mosh in a Triple Threat match. They will be joining Scarlet Flint, Steve Herring, Andrew Charles Evans and Tyler Storm in what will surely be one Hell of a match...
Nitro clears his throat as the image changes to one depicting Stacy Jones.
Joey Nitro
And our final top story this evening, after some uncertainty due to immediate eye surgery needed for former Xcel Champion, Stacy Jones...she herself would confirm to the entire VoW that she will indeed be at Heatstroke where we shall first see her as the special guest referee in a one on one match between Tayla Williams and Katie Moicelle, and then we shall see her wrestle for the World Visionary Championship in the Six Visions Of Pain match in the Main Event...
Nitro shuffles through the papers on his desk as the image changes to one depicting Stuart Fishbauch.
Joey Nitro
In other news, VoW’s resident crazed hacker, Stuart Fishbauch has been recruited by Casanova English as the newest member of The Orphanage. Many people are wondering that now The Orphanage have the self-proclaimed Glitch in the System, what does it mean for VoW?
The image once again changes and this time it shows Seifer Black and Theodore Thompson standing over a fallen Matthew Robinson.
Joey Nitro
Where it may have been a good day for some of The Orphanage, that wasn’t necessarily the case for “The Punisher”. As Robinson was giving Thompson his own version of a eulogy, he would be greeted by The Archangel and whilst Robinson’s attention was diverted to the spectacle that was Black descending from the rafters, Thompson would sneak up behind Robinson, would give him a low blow and then Black finished it off with a Burning Hammer. It surely is going to be one Hell of a fight when these two battle one another at Heatstroke, and I for one cannot wait to see it...
Nitro cups his hands together on the desk and the image changes to one depicting Rayne Draven-Omega and the Scarecrow that has been haunting her over the last few weeks.
Joey Nitro
On the face of it, many people would probably think that we here at VoW were showing you a poster for an upcoming DC movie featuring a battle between Harley Quinn and The Scarecrow of Batman fame...but you’d be wrong. The identity of this Scarecrow is still a mystery to Mrs Omega as well as the rest of VoW, however our minds could be put to rest soon enough as The Duchess will try and overcome her fear of scarecrows and do battle with this Scarecrow at Heatstroke...perhaps then, we’ll find out just who the Scarecrow really is...
The image this time changes to one showing Dathyn and Cera.
Joey Nitro
So The Orphanage has grown by one, making them now a five piece...but will that last long? And could Dathyn be the reason? In a bizarre confrontation between The Baddest Bitch and Kakhard, the mysterious man seemed to extend an invitation to Cera to join him. Many questions have started as a result of this, one being, what is it that Dathyn wants Cera to join and two, what would this mean for her role in The Orphanage?
The image then changes to one split into four separate images, two of which depict Dathyn and Scarlet Flint with their arms raised in victory where the third depicts a not so pleased Big Boss Hogg glaring at Beck Ramsey from inside the ring and the fourth depicts Tyler Storm being assaulted by Team Xcellent.
Joey Nitro
Speaking of Dathyn, he successfully defeated Cameron Behringer in one on one action and Scarlet Flint was also victorious over Andrew Charles Evans. Big Boss Hogg managed to knock off Patrick Jones after an unwanted assist from the man he will face at Heatstroke in a First Blood match, Beck Ramsey...and Tyler Storm defeated Steve Herring however his celebration was cut short after he was assaulted by Herring and Ryder Blade, collectively known as Team Xcellent.
The graphic then disappears and the camera moves back so Nitro is centred.
Joey Nitro
And finally before we get stuck into the interview with Valquist, VoW would like to welcome new signings, Alec Rose, Ethan Sinn, Satoko and Tyron Bickerton to it’s roster.
Nitro then places the papers to one side and again clears his throat.
Joey Nitro
Well ladies and gentlemen, that’s all the VoW news for this week and as I mentioned at the top of this evening’s show, I am now being joined by one of the six Visionaries that will be competing in the Six Visions Of Pain match for the VoW World Visionary Championship at Heatstroke, Valquist...
The camera pans out a little to reveal Valquist sitting behind the desk beside Nitro, dressed in a pair of black polished leather shoes, a pair of black smart trousers and a long sleeved white smart shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top two buttons undone.
Joey Nitro
Val, thank you very much for joining me this evening and agreeing to be my first guest here on Nitro News...
Valquist
It's customary to say it's a pleasure to be here, so I'll keep to that tradition.
Joey Nitro
Well as I mentioned when introducing you, you’re one of the six Visionaries that will be involved in this Six Visions Of Pain match for the World Visionary Championship at Heatstroke, so I would like to begin this interview off with your thoughts on being involved in such a huge match for the companies richest prize...
Valquist
In all honesty, I'm not the only one that believes this opportunity is before my time. My history with the Visionaries when I first joined become quickly damaged, but since my actual time here, the management have placed faith in me. They see that facing Valquist is always a sure-fire-winner, because I've always stretched my ambition to be a part of an elite bracket. It's early days for me, on a personal note, but I've an opportunity to right a wrong with my current record. Life just has a way, if you're dedicated, and if you stick to a path you believe in. I guess it's my time to finally show my version, my story, of enlightenment.
Nitro nods as he takes in Valquist’s response before moving onto the next question.
Joey Nitro
It’s no secret that in the world of wrestling, whenever you’re involved in such a huge match, any chance you have to gain momentum going into it by say, winning a match leading up to it, gaining that momentum can help you mentally in a lot of positive ways. This past Breakthrough, you were set to face Seth Iser one on one, however due to an unfortunate injury, Iser was unable to make it, meaning you were left off the card. How has this affected you? Not being able to try and get some momentum going leading up to this match?
Valquist
To provide a measure of clarity, I did everything in my power to be at Breakthrough. I offered the world a challenge, but management shut down my cause. It's not like they're executioners turning up at a puppy pound, they just didn't want to lose control of what they've built. I provided a remedy to a bleak situation, but my attempt to keep the candle of hope burning was rightly extinguished.
Nitro folds his arms, listening intently.
Valquist
Seth would have been a great opponent to face. We're both considered elders amongst the young, and that's how the match was built. When a curveball like that is thrown your way, after so many years circling the waters of professional wrestling, you learn to live with it. My time will arise on another occasion.
Valquist pauses to take a sip of water before continuing.
Valquist
I'm a constant believer that if you live by a code of Full Measures, then it doesn't matter if you've suffered three straight losses, and your next opponent bails on a main-event opportunity. Momentum or not, I believe that should I bring the same level of consistency to my performances at Heatstroke, there will only be one outcome. Ziu Zhong will finally be yielded, by the most unlikely of opponents.
Joey Nitro
Interesting. Okay before I move onto your other opponents for this match, staying on the topic of Seth Iser. You were probably listening to the show earlier and there is a small chance that due to the injury Iser picked up before Breakthrough edition twenty nine, he may not be able to make it for the match. So with the possibility of you facing off against four opponents rather than five at Heatstroke, does this mean you will be training and preparing differently or are you just going to do exactly what you were planning to do from the very moment the match was announced?
Valquist
How do you plan for a Six Visions of Pain match? It's a casual question to ask, but as a competitor you're told the only way to win a World Championship is to be locked in a jungle gym. The last guy or girl that pins an opponent in a particular time-frame will be said Champion. The only way to prepare for any such encounter, against a pack of Vultures like Casanova and Carson, against an undefeated Zhong, and against two highly efficient wrestlers in Stacy or Seth, is to be at the pinnacle of your trade. You'll be found out if you're not up to a level worthy of a World Championship's time. Survival, in this instance, will be left to those who are best equipped in the ring. It doesn't matter the environment, or the number of competitors.
Nitro takes a sip of his own water as Valquist continues.
Valquist
You've just got to treat every wrestler as a blank face. Blurred. You're not fighting against a particular regime, or facing the impossible. I'm the guy that will root out weakness, expose any flaw, and destroy without mercy. But that doesn't make me the bad guy. No, by looking at everyone the same, the final obstacle before enlightenment is achieved, you're cultured.
Nitro nods.
Valquist
The endgame is the Championship. I'm worthy of its affection, of its time and reality. At this time, I think there is no man or woman that can best me in the ring. That's the confidence you need to seize the reality. A reality, not beyond my reach.
Joey Nitro
Out of all of your opponents involved in this match, is there one specific opponent you’re looking most forward to wrestling at all? Or could there even be a specific opponent in this match you’re least looking forward to wrestling? Are you worried by any of your opponents?
Valquist
Worried, no. If you're unaware, my road-wife Chris McCarthy and I have talked about this in length. By we, I mean him. Wrestling fanatics from the outside look at our world in dream matches and ideal opponents. Much to Chris' disappointment, I possess no such lenses. Out of the five, I've only ever competed against Brett. It was my first main event match, and I lost. Well, he used an opportunistic moment to sway the referee. He was tapping his hand hard against the mat, but my call for victory was ignored. History means that the only one of the five that'll be even slightly braced for my arrival is Brett. He'll be the most stubborn element on a personal note. But there is no special way I look at the match.
Valquist takes another sip of his water.
Valquist
This is why I feel that this particular match has come before my time. I've yet to explore most of the oceans and sands that is the Visionaries roster. So I'm vulnerable. I'm the wild card factor if there ever was such a thing. My vulnerability is shared with each and every one of them. Casanova English will finally get to meet Valquist the Valiant in the flesh, and after much mockery and criticism on his part, he'll feel any such vulnerability the most.
Nitro scratches his beard slightly as he continues listening to Valquist.
Valquist
He's the weakest out of the five, guided by a dull mean streak, followed by people he calls a cult. People I call without shape or form. So yes, I've created my own sense of irony. All are blurred, but my affection for a particular few shines. English, he thinks this story is about him and Ziu, but the reckless are often selfish. Selfishness never rules the roost forever. The bad side of justice always meets its maker in men driven by honest motive, and impeccable talent.
Joey Nitro
You claim that you’re the wild card in this match and not many people would dispute that based on the circumstances, just like how many people have claimed that Stacy Jones is the underdog going into this contest. I’d imagine that a certain participant in this contest, the same man you mentioned who is the only opponent involved in this match you have faced previously, he would say that the reason why Miss Jones would be considered the underdog would be due to her gender. Most other people however, would probably say she is the underdog because of the fact she never seems to be able to keep her personal life separate from her wrestling life, if she’s going through some tough times in her personal life, it tends to affect her in the ring. First of all, what is your opinion on Miss Jones being labelled as the underdog in this match and also, do you think she won’t pose much of a threat in this match due to her issues surrounding her relationship with her fiance, Tayla Williams and her relationship with her student, Katie Moicelle?
Valquist
I'm glad you brought Stacy up, because you're right. On a casual or professional level, I've never met her, but she is deserving of her place. If she's deserving, she's capable. No one is immune in regards to tasting defeat. To me, gender means nothing. I rate ability, and for her to be here, alongside Ziu, Casanova, and Brett, speaks volumes. But her consumption between the ring and her personal reality, if anything, has fuelled her ambition.
Valquist flashes a small smirk.
Valquist
We're all on our separate paths, and she is here because her story has been the catalyst for her uprising. Different people feed off different motivation. Stacy pivots towards a personification of personalisation. It's all her, her, her, but why shouldn't it be? It's her story. She's the scribe, and she's done nothing the other guys have done. Be provocative. You're asking this question because she's put herself out there, literally.
Clearing his throat, he continues.
Valquist
Please, don't draw me into the drama because she's a television show I haven't been watching. Of course, I'm acquainted with her ability, her potential, and her story, but you wouldn't necessarily ask a pro football player about satellite design.
Nitro nods, listening to his guests every word.
Valquist
My reiteration about her as a combative unit is the same. She'll receive the same treatment as the World Champion. But will she do it? I'm not ruling out the reality, and if it were to happen, I'd be the first to congratulate her. Realistically, she's going to get torn apart, like me she's exposed to a brutal match in a highly erratic and pressure filled arena. I've the mettle to deal with the heat, but given her openness, I'll be very cautious when I say that I'll do anything to make sure it's not her day.
Joey Nitro
Well Val, unfortunately we’ve run out of time this evening so thank you again for your time and I wish you the best of luck for this huge match at Heatstroke.
Valquist
It's also customary to say thank you. It's time to finally show the world enlightenment. Valquist, Valiant.
The two men shake hands as the camera focuses solely on Nitro.
Joey Nitro
Well that’s all for tonight folks, make sure not to miss Heatstroke coming to you live on Pay-Per-View on July 20th from the Centre d’Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada. And also, make sure to tune into the next edition of Nitro News where I will be going over everything that took place at the event as well as talking to yet another Visionary. I’ve been Joey Nitro...goodnight...
The camera then slowly pans away from Nitro before fading to the VoW logo.
