HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF ★彡
[scene one]
On this night Breakthrough Thirty Three had come and it had gone. This night several things had happened. Several steps were made to finalize the pay per view, Armed and Dangerous which happened to be the next step for everyone in the company. Mostly everyone was looking forward to the big event. Everyone but the Martyr himself. Calvin found himself seated in his locker room after a long night and he just glared at the floor. The night hadn’t gone the way he had wanted. At least not a hundred percent anyway. He was the man with a plan and it seemed like that plan blew up in his face.
His goal was to annihilate Katie Moicelle in the ring. Beat her with an inch of her life. Beat her so bad that it would force those running the company to finally show him the attention he deserved and made them grant him with a shot at the World Visionary Championship. Of course that’s where things went bad. Calvin did destroy Katie and left her in a position where she could barely stand on her own two feet. He did get the attention of people running the place. More specifically the attention of Sky Sangue who ended up granting Calvin what he wanted.
He wanted a match worth something. A match with an opponent that was a worth a damn. Of course she didn’t grant him a shot at the World Visionary Championship - the only thing he wanted. Instead she gave him a worthy opponent and a match worth something only by VoW standards. As they decided at Armed and Dangerous, Calvin would be going one on one with the returning Matt Slater. Apparently one of the so called “Biggest Names” that have ever existed in VoW. A name that meant a lot to business - at least that’s the way people would tell it. However it was a name that didn’t mean anything to the Martyr.
As the man continued to glare at the floor. He could hear a voice plain as day speak to him. It wasn’t just a voice though it was his own voice. A voice within his own head.
“It’s happening again, Calvin.”
Calvin’s gaze finally broke from the floor as he kind of just looked up for a moment or two. Only for him to realize that the voice was truly coming from within his own head.
“You are letting it happen again. After spending three long years in World Elite Wrestling - where you let a company walk all over you. Where you let a company show you no respect. Where you were loyal to a place that wasn’t a loyal to you. Where you went all that time without having a single solid accomplishment that was worth a fuck. Then you come to VoW for a fresh start and you’re letting it happen all over again. You are letting VoW treat you like trash. You are letting the company treat you as if you are dirt beneath their feet. You are letting this company hold you back. You are letting this company deprive you of the things you deserve. You are well on your way of letting VoW repeat history for you and it disgusts me!”
The voice was quite harsh on himself. If people thought that the Calvin they witnessed every week was harsh. If they thought that he crossed a line. If they felt he was being disrespect. They had no idea how serious things could get within this man’s head. It was damn near abuse on himself.
“Sure, you accomplished your goal of destroying Katie... But in reality Calvin where did that get you? You beat a no name so bad she couldn’t stand. You defeated someone in the middle of the ring that isn’t known. You beat someone that’s been beaten by a lot of people in this third rate company. Defeating Katie didn’t do anything for you at all and it damn sure didn’t get you what you wanted with that blonde cunt came walking out on stage.”
Calvin seemed to start getting annoyed with what he was hearing. He pushed himself to a vertical basis and started to pace the floor a little bit. Holding his hands on his head and yanking at his head slightly.
“Sky didn’t give a damn about you the moment she walked out on stage. Sky didn’t take you seriously. She didn’t believe in anything you had done and she damn sure hadn’t believed in anything that you said. That’s exactly why she denied you of a shot at the World Visionary Championship. It’s exactly why she denied you of any championship match. It’s why she put everyone else on this roster above you. It’s also the exact reason why she decided to put you in a match with Matt Slater. Simply put that bitch didn’t give a damn about you and had zero respect for you.”
Shaking his head from side to side. The rage was starting to slowly build within the young man.
“There was nothing stopping you from darting up that ring, dragging that bitch back to the ring, and curb stomping her into the mat. There was zero stopping you and that would have sent one hell of a message. The one you’ve been aiming to send since you put your name to a contract. Hell, there was nothing stopping you from picking that mic back up and telling VoW to kiss your ass. Nothing stopping you from saying that you quit. There was nothing stopping you from walking out that door for good, but you didn’t do that either. It’s like you are choosing not to send a message. It’s like you are choosing to be a failure. It’s like you are choosing to let this company walk all over you just like WEW did.”
Calvin was even going as far as hitting himself in the side of the head. Almost like it was going to make a difference and drive this voice right out of his head. That wasn’t the case though, he simply could not escape something that was a part of him.
“I’m going to wash my hands of you, Calvin. You are going to force me to drop you and simply let you fall into the black abyss of irrelevancy if you don’t get it together. You are on your last leg. Your last strike. Don’t make me regret it.”
The pacing back and forth across the room had increased. He was moving fairly quickly, as he continued to bop himself on the side of the head. A little harder this time really trying to drive this voice out of his head. The voice wasn’t going to go anywhere no matter how much or how hard Calvin tried. Something that he was refusing to take into consideration.
“I don’t care what you have to do at Armed and Dangerous, Calvin. I don’t care if you beat Matt’s neck. I don’t care if you drag his wife out of the crowd and kick her right in the face before Matt. I don’t care if you have to track down his six year old son and kidnap him. It honestly does not matter to me what you do, but you only have one mission. You are to do whatever it takes to mentally, emotionally, and physically break Matt Slater. That is the only mission. That is your only goal. And so help me god, if you fail me on this. That’s it. Do you understand me?! Huh?! Do I make myself crystal clear, Calvin?! That will be the end if you fail me!”
Suddenly, Calvin stopped pacing as he looked forward in the room. Yanking on his jet black hair as he screamed out loud - quite possibly as loud as he could.

“I GOT IT! I GOT IT! JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!”
And just like that the silence had fallen over the room. More importantly though the silence was inside his head. The voice had simply stopped talking and gone away for that time being. People had no idea what Calvin had to deal with when it came to his shortcomings and his misfortunes. Not that he wanted people to know or even wanted their sympathy, but it wasn’t easy having a voice that you couldn’t get rid of live inside your head. Not only live inside your head, but to constantly tell you what to do. How to live your life and how to go about things in your career. It was far too much. However at this point the Martyr knew what it was going to take to satisfied the voice. He knew that come Armed and Dangerous, he had to rid the world of Matt Slater for good.
MY OWN LITTLE WORLD ★彡
[scene two]
Over the last couple of days the stars of Visionaries of Wrestling have been gearing themselves up for their big event taking place this coming Sunday night. That event being: Armed and Dangerous. It was going to be a night that people remembered with VoW for a very long time to come. Especially with the matches that were set to take place. Let’s just say there was a very good chance that history would be made.
That being said our scene found itself opening up inside what appeared to be an empty room of some kind. The walls were completely white. Making the room blinding. There were no windows to see inside or out. Only two things stuck out like a sore thumb. The first thing being a Digital Globe right there in the middle of the room. The type of globes that you would see in a classroom when you were younger. That was odd in itself, but the other thing that stood out was the person standing there.
It happened to be VoW’s own Darius Yates. He was dressed sharply like he would be for any other show or event that had VoW’s name on it. He happened to be holding a voice recorder in one hand. Darius had this expression on his face that told a story he was a wee bit annoyed. Holding his arm up to view the time on the watch that was strapped to his wrist.

“Is this guy serious? He acts like I got all the time in the world.”
He slightly started to shake his head a little bit. Until he could hear a voice coming up from behind him. As Darius turned himself around he was met face to face with the man known as the Martyr. Calvin’s slight smirk featured while he spoke.

“And that’s all you’re going to be doing. I assure you, I didn’t ask you to meet me here for any other reason than that. You can go ahead and stop with your wishful thinking.”
A rather sarcastic chuckle escaped the Martyr’s lips at that moment. Darius on the other hand didn’t look the least bit impressed by the sad attempt at a joke. Instead Darius could be seen just rolling his eyes a bit.

“Very observant I see there Mr. Yates. I’m glad that you took notice. Because that’s going to be the subject of today’s entire little interview.”
Nodding his head a little bit. Calvin had made a couple of steps over to the Digital Globe that hung out in the center of the ring. Grabbing a hold of the side, the Martyr proceeded to give it one big spin. As the blue from the “sea” and all the colors from the continents began to blur together due to the spin.

“See this right here is the Globe of the entire world. You spin this thing around and you can see every body of water that exists. You can see every country that exists. Every continent and every state that exists. Every day the earth rotates on its axis. People wake up on one side of the world as everyone is going to bed on the other side. The vice versa as the earth continues to rotate. It’s truly amazing how the world works, don’t you think Darius?”

You along with the rest of the scum in VoW would have caught into the fact there’s always a method to my madness. Guess I made a mistake and gave you too much credit there.”
Shrugging his shoulders a little bit. It was fairly obvious that Calvin didn’t have a care in the world if he had insulted Darius or anyone else that was associated with VoW.

C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S
“In life they say that the world doesn’t revolve around anymore. They say that one person isn’t the center of the universe. I’ve heard a lot of things like that over the years. Those people might be right. Maybe someone isn’t the center of the universe. Maybe just maybe the world doesn’t revolve around one single person. However I don’t think any of that applies to me. I’m someone that lives in my own little world. I’m someone that created my own universe. I’m the only person that means anything in my world. No one else holds a candle to me... and from what I hear that’s a problem for people in VoW.”
Placing his hand on top of the globe. The force of his hand caused the globe to slowly start to slow down a little bit at a time as he looked over in Darius’s direction. Just as Darius had decided to speak up.

I made it more than obvious that I didn’t come to swerve a back seat to anyone here. I made it clear I wouldn’t be some bitch to all the so called originals of this company. Of course Calvin’s words were meant to be taken in a very mocking manner. He was mocking the hell right out of Darius and in his mind it was for good reason. Darius didn’t want to believe Calvin’s logic. Cue why he popped off at the mouth, so Calvin defended himself and fired right back.

“I am the only outsider to come to VoW with a reputation. I am the only outsider to come to VoW that has been heard out outside their own little walls. I’m the only outsider to come to VoW and call the entire company out on their bullshit. I was also the only person with enough balls to tell VoW how things were going to go. Something that just pissed them off even more. That’s exactly why they tossed me in matches with Ethan Sinn, Katie Micoelle, and the clusterfuck that was the Fatal Four Way for my debut match. They wanted to assert their authority over me. They wanted to attempt to break me. They wanted to attempt to send a message to me. However it didn’t get them where they wanted. Because in my world VoW doesn’t mean a fucking thing!”
Standing there with that arrogant like grin spread across his lips. Calvin slightly shook his head some. Not too much caring what kind of backlash was going to come to him from that comment.

“Like I said I live in my own world. I march to a beat of my own drum. That’s why when the Fatal Four Way Match didn’t benefit me and it didn’t grant me what I was entitled to. I walked out on the match without a care in the world. That’s why I drilled Ethan with a low blow to put an end to a match that wasn’t going to do anything for me win or lose. And that’s also why I brutally beat the hell out of Katie last week. Just so I could send a message to the powers that be. Let them know it was time to smarten up. “Trust me I know I’m going to catch heat for that. I am sure I just fucked the entire VoW Universe up by saying who. I am sure that Slater along with all of VoW are offended because I don’t know who he is. Nor do I care to know who he is. Truth be told if that upsets people. Oh fucking well. Are you not getting it yet? I surely sound like a broken record at this point. I live in my own world and the only person that matters in my world is me. I don’t go spending my time watching others. I don’t go paying attention to others. I am not some crazy stalker that pays attention to every single thing my opponents have ever done in their lives or their careers.”
Darius was looking at Calvin and simply shaking his head as he stood there silent for the time being.

C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S
“What gets me and what makes me laugh is. All these people are going to be offended that I don’t know who Matt Slater is or what Matt Slater has done. People are going to be offended that I didn’t go back to the year 2008 and start watching Matt Slater grow as a professional wrestler. They’re going to be pissed off at me for not going to Slater’s days at New Edge Wrestling and watching every single match that he had. They’ll be pissed off at me for not giving Slater props for the thirteen championships that he’s won over his career. All the awards he’s won or the Hall of Fames they’re in. They’re going to be pissed off because of all of that, but the moment that Slater says he doesn’t know who I am. The moment that Slater dismisses me. The moment Slater says I don’t have any credibility. Not a single person will blink an eye. Not a single person will have anything to say. Not a single person will come spazzing out. What’s good for the goose isn’t good for the gander when it comes to how the people of VoW look at things!”
That tone of voice made it appear that the Martyr was rather irritated when it comes to where he was going with things. There always appeared to be double standards in life. In this particular situation those double standards didn’t settle so well with Calvin. In that being said Darius finally saw the opportunity to speak.

“Is there a reason for everyone to spazz out like they did when Slater’s return was announced? Is there really a reason for everyone to treat the man like he’s some kind of icon to VoW? Is there truly a reason for Matt Slater to get the praise that he’s getting? Because I can’t find that reason.”

“Exactly, there isn’t a goddamn reason for Slater to get the reaction or the treatment that he does. The only goddamn thing that Slater ever did in VoW was proven that he was an injury prone little piss ant!”
Calvin had snapped rather quickly which caught Darius by surprise. As much as people hated Harris, he had a point. Slater didn’t really achieve anything or accomplish anything in the short amount of time he was with VoW. Therefore he didn’t deserve the reaction he got at Breakthrough 33 and he damn sure didn’t deserve the way people were talking about him or hyping him up like he was the greatest thing to ever come to VoW.

C A L V I N ★彡 H A R R I S
“And you see that’s what I don’t get right there Darius. Slater went on record saying that his doctor’s informed him that if he didn’t retire. There was a chance that he could risk being paralyzed or suffering from permanent nerve damage. That’s why he left VoW. That’s why he walked away. That’s why he tucked his tail between his legs and retired. So, why now? Why is it a good time for him to make a return? Did he suddenly become healed in the few months he’s been away from the business? Did he experience such a miracle in this healing process that he can unretire and be his old self again? Is this some act of God, is that what you people are trying to tell me?!”

“Maybe there’s hope for you Mr. Yates. Maybe, you aren’t as stupid as the rest of the goons that run VoW. Because that’s exactly what my logic is. Something is telling me that Slater isn’t healed and that he is putting himself as well as his risk at health. Just for the sake of having one more fun. Just for the sake of him saying that he did it. Just for the sake of attempting to have one goal. One achievement. One accomplishment added to his name here in VoW. And because of that logic, I do feel a least bit bad for Mr. Slater. I feel a small amount of remorse because VoW fucked him when they decided to put him against me.”

“I am a man on a mission. I am out to make VoW regret everything they have said and everything they have done since they signed me to a contract. I’m going to take Matt Slater and I’m going to put him out of his misery as VoW watches helpless. As VoW finds themselves feeling guilty for the man’s downfall and as VoW finds themselves wishing that they had never even brought Slater back.”
He continued to nod his head a little. Each word that came out of his mouth at this point started to become a little more sadistic and a little more violent. Something that had been starting to come out in him a whole lot more over the last couple of weeks.

You might be thinking that I’m nothing. You may even have the same mindset I do when it comes to you. You don’t know who I am just like I don’t know who the hell you are. There are two things that I can promise you though. The first thing is this. You don’t know who I am right this minute, but by the end of Armed and Dangerous. You will know who I am. My name will stick out in the back of your head like a sore thumb for years and years and years to come!”

“And the second reason you’re going to find out who I am. Goes hand in hand with the first reason. You’re going to remember my name for many years to come. Because I’m going to be the one that puts you in that wheelchair for life!”
Those words were as cold hearted as they could be. They fell right off his tongue with zero remorse. They fell from his lips with intentions of hurting Slater and anyone that may be close to him. Like he had said he was a man on a mission and nothing, as well as no one would be stopping him.

The Martyr found himself pushing Darius back a little bit. Not enough to hurt him, but enough to get him out of his way. Calvin found himself just walking right out of the blinding white room. Darius stood there looking in the direction Calvin had walked off in shaking his head from side to side. In that being said the cameras found themselves cutting over to that Digitalglobe. Getting a close up on the thing giving the VoW viewers a nice reminder of the world that Calvin supposedly lived in. For those that were a fan of Slater. They better start hoping and praying this is a time that the Martyr ends up being a wrong. Cameras found themselves cutting out at that moment.
CROSSING A LINE ★彡
[scene three]
When the scene found itself opening up it seemed whomever was holding the camera was a bit of an amatuer. There was a lot of shaking of the camera. At least for a couple of seconds before it could be finally focusing and not only was it focusing but it was sitting directly on a building of some kind. In fact on front of the building read in big bold letters was Mapleview Heights Elementary School. As the cameras remained focused on this school for whatever reason. A familiar voice - at least familiar to the VoW viewers could be heard speaking.
“Any minute now and school is going to be letting out for the day.”
In that being said the camera turned itself around to reveal the voice of the person was sure enough none other than the Martyr himself, Calvin Harris. Not just to reveal that he was the man talking but that he was also the man holding the camera. Needless to say this wasn’t something that was going to go over very well with the viewers. Not that it was any of Calvin’s concern.

So, little Gabriel isn’t going to get to tell daddy about his day. Nor is Daddy going to be here to pick him up. I could only imagine how badly his heart is going to be broken.”
That sinister little grin of his could be seen plastered all across his lips. Almost like he was enjoying the situation a little too much.

“And if that wasn’t bad enough as it was. Little Gabriel isn’t going to be having his usual person picking him up either. Nope, just so happens that Mommy isn’t going to be able to be here either. I think it’s time that Gabriel meets the man that is going to be directly responsible for his father being left in a wheelchair paralyzed from the neck down. Seems like the right thing to do. I’ll pick the tyke up, get him some ice cream, and explain just how horribly crippled I intend on leaving his dear ol’ dad.”
That being said Calvin could be heard chuckling. Those type of comments were completely and utterly uncalled for. The thing about the Martyr was there wasn’t a line that he wouldn’t cross and that much was being proven.

I could only imagine how you’d feel if you had to bury your only son well before his time. After all they say no parent should have to bury their child.”

I’m not that person that just spent the last couple of months telling my child that daddy was going to be there when he got home from school. I didn’t spend the last couple of months telling my child that I would be there for him to tell me all his little stories and be involved in all his little activities. That was you, Matt. You made all these promises with your son and now you’re going to turn around to break them. You’re going to break promises with your little boy. And for what reason? All because you decided out of nowhere that retirement wasn’t for you? All because you decided that you got that itch again? “Don’t get me wrong Matt. I understand being married to the business. I grew up in this business. I was destined to be part of it since day one. I was taught that there was nothing more important than this business when it’s helping you pay your bills and making you a star. But at some point when a child becomes involved. When you have a kid. When you become a father. You’d imagine that you’d do the right thing and have some type of moral code. You’d figure you would do the right thing and put your kid first. But obviously that’s not the case is it Matt? Therefore making you a shitty human being in my opinion. Hell, I’d even call you a deadbeat father. That’s exactly how it comes off.”
The low blows and underhanded comments continued to come from the Martyr. It was more than clear that Calvin was intentionally crossing a line and intentionally trying to paint himself in a corner. It was simply the case of having no remorse for anything he said or did.

“The real question at hand isn’t are you a bad father. Instead the question at hand is, will it be worth it?”
Looking at the cameras for a brief moment with an arched eyebrow in pure curiosity.

“Is your return going to be worth walking out on your son? Missing key points of his life? And just overall putting your son on the back burner? Is it really all going to be worth it? Because the way I see it and the way that you are looking at things are in two different manners. Matt, you think that just because you’ve got some roots to VoW. That you are just going to be able to walk right back in the company and be the shining star you was once before. You think that you can just walk back in the company. That everyone is going to fall at your feet. Kiss your ass, suck your dick, and make you feel important again. You think you can walk back in here, step in the ring, experience no set backs, and just dominate whomever you are facing. It’s that kind of logic that ends up getting people hurt real-real bad.”
That smirk could be seen starting to curve over his lips once again. That sinister nature was going to come out in Calvin soon, and that was just from a verbal standpoint. One could only imagine where it was going to go when things got physical.

“Had it been any other person Matt. Had it been any other jackass or jobber on this roster. You very well might have been able to just walk in and get your spot back. You might have been able to walk in and dominate with ease. You might have just been able to walk in and walk out with a easy victory. That isn’t the case this time around though.”
Some more shaking of the Martyr’s head could be seen.

“Ask anyone in the piece of shit company that is VoW. Each and every single one of them are going to tell you that I don’t mean anything. Each and every single one of them are going to tell you that I’m full of myself. They’ll say I’m arrogant. I’m cocky. I’m egotistical. They’ll even tell that I’m not even worth them signing in the first place. VoW will do anything they possibly can to discredit me. They’ve made that clear since the day I stepped in those doors, and honestly you would be foolish to believe them, Matt. Of course, I know you’re going to do whatever you want to do. I’m not clueless or stupid. I know you’re going to listen to VoW for they’ve never steered you wrong in the past, right? And because this is like your home away from home. That’s fine, Matt. Believe them all you want. But you might want to listen to the man that knows me best...”
Pointing to himself to make sure that everyone - more specifically Matt understood the person that knew him best was indeed himself.

“I won’t be someone that you just walk right over. Instead, I’m going to be the man that gives you the biggest fight you’ve ever had in your career. I’m going to be the man that makes you famous in one night. I’ll be the person that actually gets you a legit fifteen minutes of fame. Then I’ll be the guy that turns around and cripples you. What you and everyone else in VoW don’t understand is. I didn’t come to be second best. I didn’t come to take the backseat. I didn’t come to be disrespected and spat on. Nor did I come to be held back - which is exactly what VoW is attempting to do. That’s exactly what you’re attempting to do, Matt. You’re trying to make me take a backseat to you. You’re trying to hold me down. That’s the problem for me. And like anything else in my life. When I have a problem, I find a solution. The solution of course is to leave you a crippled human being.”
A lot of people that knew Harris and had followed his career would have known. As well as understood that when he was a man on a mission. There was no stopping him. He would do whatever it took to see to it that he came out on top. He would do whatever it took to make sure that he was a man of his word. Something that wasn’t good for Mr. Slater. Not even in the least bit.

“The saddest part about all of this, Matt. The saddest part of me having to face you and leave you a crippled man is the fact that you’re going to force your son to watch it take place. Let’s be honest shall we? You know that your son is going to be in attendance that night. He’s going to be looking up to you - after all you are his hero. In a roundabout way, Gabriel looks at you like you are a superhero. Like you’re Batman. You are supposed to be the man that does the right thing at all times. You are supposed to defend the honor of yourself as well as others around you. You are meant to defeat every single bad guy that you encounter. Because based on the logic of super heroes. The Superhero always comes out on top.”
There was a nod coming from Calvin at that moment. Everything he was saying was true. That’s how superheroes were meant to be. That’s how a child always viewed their father.

“So, it should be pretty obvious Matt. On Sunday Night, little Gabriel is going to be looking to you to defend VoW’s honor. He’s going to be looking to you to be the good guy. He’s going to be looking to you to defeat the big bad villain that is myself. But you’re going to fail in the worst possible way. Therefore not only will you let yourself down. Not only will you prove that you leaving your family behind wasn’t worth it. But you will forever be a failure in your son’s eyes.”
In those words being said the loud sound of a bell being run could be heard. Right away Calvin turned the cameras away from his face and focused back on the school building. It had become obvious that the bell came from the school as little children began to pile out of the school. Children began running down the sidewalk, others started to run towards cars and other vehicles that were waiting on them. Standing in the middle of the sidewalk was this one lone child that happened to be looking around frantically. Like he was looking for someone that was supposed to be there but wasn’t. One could only imagine that child was Gabriel Slater. That’s when Calvin could be heard calling out.
“GABRIEL! OVER HERE BUDDY!”
Sure enough the small child could be seen looking in the direction of where his voice had been called out. He looked a little more confused as he wouldn’t have the slightest clue who Calvin was. Nevertheless though, it would appear his father didn’t teach him well when it came to strangers. The small child started to make a mad dash towards the direction of Calvin. At that exact moment the cameras cut out thanks to Calvin cutting the recording. The panic and the overall mindset that was going to consume Matt Slater soon enough would be crippling. Emotionally and mentally crippling. It appeared the Martyr knew exactly what he was doing.
THE UNKNOWN ★彡
[scene four]
The night had finally arrived for VoW. The night of Armed and Dangerous was finally here. As a matter of fact the show was just a few seconds from going live to the sold out venue. However when our cameras opened up they weren’t inside said arena. However they were on top of the venue for some strange reason. The sun had started to settle for the night and there was a light breeze in the air. With the camera’s focusing on top of the building. There was a reason for it and that reason happened happened to be the person standing on the edge of the building looking to the sky.
That person being known other than the Martyr himself, Calvin Harris. He just remained looking out of the horizon. Seemingly taking in the sight. That was until he began speaking and that’s when it became obvious that things were all about him. This whole setup was for him.

“The only guarantee in life when you are born is at some point and time. Somewhere along the line you’re going to die.”
A bit of a negative mindset to have right off the bat. Though, Calvin was no fool. He knew how to pull people in. He knew how to keep them interested.

“Death is the only certainty in life. Kind of puts a damper on things. Because everything else from the time that you are born until the day that you die is unknown. You don’t know if you’re going to have parents that love you and take care of you. You don’t know if you’re going to be that child that struggles in school. You don’t know if you’re going to be the popular kid in high school or the socially awkward kid no one wants to be around in high school. You never know if you’re going to go to college or just stuck at a dead in job.”
He had continued to shake his head from side to side a little bit.

“I could go on and on about the type of things that are unknown in life, but I’d like to think that most of you aren’t completely retarded. You understand the general point. And this even goes for your beloved hero, Matt Slater. Let’s be honest Matthew. You didn’t know where life was going to take you. You had no idea that you were going to be a pro wrestler until it caught your interest. Not to mention much like me, you had no idea what was going to happen with your career. You watched so many before you have success. But you also watched so many around you fail. In this business everything is unknown just like life, and in this business there are zero guarantees.”
In that being said Calvin had finally turned his attention away from the horizon and over towards the cameras. Stepping down off the ledge to the flat grounding on top of the building.

“Yet somehow someway you managed to make a career in this business. You’ve done things. You’ve been places. You’ve had tons of main events. You’ve won your fair share of championships. Won awards, been inducted to Hall of Fames, and so much more. But now that you’re coming back to VoW. You find yourself in a pretty rough situation. You find yourself in a disadvantage. You find yourself in a situation where facing the unknown is a bad thing for you. Not knowing what could happen or what to expect is going to lead to your downfall.”
His words seemed so calm and so collected. It’s almost like he knew without a shadow of a doubt what was coming out of his mouth was in fact the truth. A lot of people would debate his comments and his views, but that was their choice. The Martyr wasn’t too concerned with that.

“See the thing is I’m the unknown that you’re facing. Yeah, you may know what my name is. You may know my Family and the legacy that comes along with it. You may know that I’m unhappy with my position in VoW. You may have dug into my past and got a feel for where I am coming from. What I’ve accomplished. But truth is deep down Matthew, you’ve got no idea of what you are dealing with. You’ve got no idea what I am capable of. You’ve got no idea how good I am. And you’ve got no real idea of what I plan on doing to you.”
He was looking right at the cameras with those rather serious looking eyes, while shaking his head from side to side.

“And even though you don’t know what you are up against. It doesn’t change the fact that you’re telling people stuff like you think you know. I hear you’re off telling interviewers and all types of media that you know why I am the way that I am. You are off telling these people why I did what I did to Katie. Telling people why I am acting the way I am towards VoW. All of which you are more or less implying that I’m a joke. That I’m someone that should be laughed at. I’m someone that cannot succeed. Referring to me as someone who is desperate and someone who lets my ego stand in the way. You truly are one of the stupidest son of bitches that I have ever encountered in my life.”
The shaking of his head continued. Although it was pretty obvious that in shaking his head this time around. It was out of pure and utter disappointment.

“Not only are you a stupid son of a bitch. You couldn’t be anymore wrong than what you are when it comes to your logic on why I am the way that I am. Or why I feel the way that I feel. Or why I do the things that I do. All you did was grasp for straws - which shows how desperate you are. That feeling of not knowing what you are up against or what I am capable of is starting to sink in and therefore you are starting to panic. Which is a good thing. I want you to panic. I want you to worry. I want you to feel the pressure. I want you to be afraid of the unknown. Be afraid of what you are about to be against. Be afraid of me, Matthew.”
Finally, that wicked little grin that the viewers of VoW had come to know as a trademark of the Martyr was staking over the curves of his lips. Though, it didn’t seem he was done just yet.

“For all the fans that came out here tonight to show you support. For all the family and friends, you’re going to have sitting out there in the seats to root you on. For all the people in the back - specifically those running the company that are firmly behind you. I hope for their sake that they don’t put too much faith in you. For there is a reason why you had to retire once. There’s a reason why your body can’t handle certain things. Just like there’s a reason why I am one of the most dangerous men inside that ring which doesn’t spell good news for you, Matthew. I’d hate for all those people to put all their fate into you, just for you to end up letting them down. It’s bad enough that you’re going to be letting yourself down. Can you honestly live with letting everyone else down? Can you live with being a failure in the eyes of everyone else? Something tells me that’s not the case at all, Matthew.”
Each word came off mocking. Each word came off as if he was threatening Matthew. Each word even came off as if he was expecting Matthew to fail. In the mind of the Martyr this entire match had already been decided. That was the thing that people hated the most about him. His ego was on a whole different level and it at times was an undeserved ego, but there was no getting through to him on the matter.

“The thing that you are going to understand the most Matthew is this. I don’t call myself the Martyr because it’s a cool nickname ot because I thought it sounded nicely. I call myself the Martyr because I find myself in a situation where I’m either going to be killed for my beliefs and the way I live my life, or I’m going to have to kill someone for their beliefs and the way they live their life because it clashes with mine. This business and life in general is a very kill or be killed world. As unknown as this world may be, Matthew. I know for a fact you don’t have the ability to kill a man in cold blooded murder for the sake of your own beliefs, but I do. Keep that in mind. It would be nothing to me to end your life, as long as I succeeded.”
A brief pause had fallen over the scenery. Calvin was letting those words stick out and letting those words be replayed through the minds of all the viewers. More specifically letting those words sink into the very thick skull of Matthew Slater.

“Tonight, failure will not be option for me. I’m stuffing you in a body bag, Matthew and putting you six feet under where you belong!”
Those were some chilling “final” words from the Martyr. He didn’t bother to look at the cameras and certainly had nothing else to say at that particular moment. Instead the Martyr began to walk along and disappear from the camera frame. The night had finally arrived and therefore there was no going back on anything that had been said or done by anyone. Those people were going to have to either man up and fight in the ring. Show what they were made of or those people were going to get what was coming to them. In this case it was going to be the Martyr versus a Saint. Only one of them could come out on top, but which one would it be? Well that was what made tonight all that much more special.
