"This city is ugly."
Matt Rydell is standing in front of a huge window, surveying the city in front of him. Infinity City sprawls out for miles in front of the Evermore Stadium, purpose built to hold Rydell's baby, Infinity City Football Club. Over to the left is the business quarter, the BZN Television skyscraper standing tall in the distance. Directly in front of the stadium is the Evermore River. Rydell watches the boats float slowly down the river, lost in his own thoughts, until a voice snaps him out of it.
"It's a shame you bought a huge stadium here then, isn't it."
Rydell smirks, turning around to see his assistant, Claire Knox, smiling back at him. Leggy, with blonde hair and blue eyes, Claire was extremely attractive. Could have been a model. Dressed in her business clothes, with her hair in a bun, she struck an intimidating figure.
"Enough moping at the window, we have things to do. You have a meeting with the board at four, and you really need to get working on the proposal for ICFCs entry into the MLS. I can help you with that if you..."
Matt cuts her off before she can finish her sentence.
"Claire we need to talk. I'm going to be hiring a new CEO for the club. They'll be working on the MLS proposal."
Rydell lets out a sigh, before continuing on.
"I'm leaving this city. With the closure of Infinity Wrestling, I've decided to pursue my wrestling career elsewhere. I'm headed back to Los Angeles tomorrow, and then I fly out to Minesotta on Sunday night. I've signed a contract with VoW."
Claire sits down in front of my desk, trying to understand what's happening.
"You'll be coming with me back to LA, and you'll be conducting the new CEO hunt from there."
"CEO? Who gives a damn about the CEO? When did you sign this VoW contract? More importantly, why? Are you wrestling next week?"
"Yeah, I have a match again..."
"Are you an idiot? You haven't wrestled a match in 2014! You've spent your days locked in this damn office, twiddling your thumbs. And now you're going to hop on a plane, fly to some hick town in Minnesota and wrestle?"
"Well when you say it like that, it sounds crazy."
Claire sinks back in her chair, a look of despair on her face. She rubs her temple, staring daggers at Rydell.
"Remember what happened last time you were wrestling?"
"I do."
"You do? You remember becoming the poster boy of the company, yeah? You remember how it drove you mad, how you couldn't hack being the hero of the people? How you wore a mask to deprive the people of the City your face? Because I remember. I remember all of it. You see, there was no repercussions for you, when you lost your mind. You ran around, starting fires wherever you went, and it was ME who had to run behind you, putting them out. I made sure you kept your job when you attacked your chairman in his office. It was ME who kept you out of prison when you assaulted the network executive at a press conference. I payed your bail when you got caught setting fire to billboards with your face on them. I can't do it again. I don't have the energy."
"It wont be like that this time. Stevens and Infinity Wrestling manipulated me, and the people, into thinking I was the poster boy of this city. I won't allow it again. I put my trust in that company to do what was best for me, and they shit all over it. They didn't give a damn whether I lived or died, as long as I was selling shirts. I know who I am now, and I know what I stand for. I'm not the good guy the people need. I'll make sure I'm in control this time."
Claire stood up, straightening her shirt, staring at Rydell.
"No you won't. I'll make sure of it."
