Valquist - Character Biography
The son of Oria Valquist, joint executive and founder of the Derrida and Valquist law firm, Valquist, the Infinity City native, is on a path of enlightenment, continuing the path he created for both himself and best friend Isis Derrida. A brother no longer by his side. Val is considered mysterious by some despite his open transparency. Val is a good manipulator, a fierce fighter, an architect in the ring, a loyal friend, and somebody you want in a battle with you, whether alone in as part of a team. Perhaps most apparent of all, Val is an eloquent talker, words are his weapons.
After joining Isis on his new life journey to become a fully-fledged wrestler, Val finds himself alone in VOW, without his friend. Long removed from a spell in Global Wrestling Revolution (GWR), Val walked the path of VoW on his own, eventually becoming Visionaries World Champion, before being forcefully retired by the hands of Casanova English at VoW Darkest Hour in a Buried Alive match in November 2015. 9 months later in July 2016, Valquist reappeared, reborn.
In the ring Val is a patient man and former martial artist, adopting a vicious, ruthless and effective hybrid wrestling style involving an array of submission and brawling moves. Without Isis by his side, Val is drawn into becoming uncontrollable, much like his friend.
Entrance Description
Val is a reserved and inward looking personality that keeps himself to himself at most times. Walks to the ring with a concentrated look, as if drawing his plan of action before the bell rings. Strides with purpose as he climbs the steel ring-steps and when in the ring he places a hand on his heart. Throughout his entrance and his matches he is a methodical planner and executor in and out of the ring, a no nonsense type of guy that doesn't let his personal stories derail his in-ring momentum.

Roleplay Story
Nearly away removed from wrestling, Valquist, on March 23rd 2015 has gone to Mr. Donald Osman in search of his blessing for a return to professional. Val reveals that he has been considering returning to VOW on a trial basis. Osman, much like his father, Oria, are against the move. Believing Val's calling was at home, in Infinity City, the wrestler ultimately decides against the better judgement of his mentors, returning for an interview with VOW's Darius Yates. Prior to his return match against Ryder Bade at Nothing Else Matters, Val's hallucinations over his best friend, and inspiration, Isis Derrida, have stopped. Val makes peace that he is alone on his path of enlightenment, without Isis.
With VOW going to the New York area, and Val deciding on a second match, he travels to New York to meet an upstart wrestling news reporter called Chris McCarthy. A Brooklyn born boy with nothing. Val gives an enlightened interview to Chris about being lost on his path, and in search of he means to a future. Chris's website posts a story on his Intro to Wrestling website, and it begins to gain traction with the public audience. Val orchestrates Chris's arrival from the beginning, give his voice and his words a home, at the same time as making a young wrestling fans dreams turn into reality. After Val defeated Blue Suede Bruce on his Breakthrough return, Chris was overwhelmed that Val had paid for his site to be professionally remodeled allowing for a bigger, global, fan base, and providing him with professional recording equipment. Chris would later utilise his new gear to promote Val's next match against Yeshua, whilst equally being disparaging towards Yeshua and his character. Meanwhile, Val was seeking religious enlightenment in the fringes of Infinity City at the Collective of Prevalent Faith, where he sought cryptic answers that would eventually lead him to victory against Yeshua. It is before Val's encounter with Yeshua where he addresses VOW and declares a state of permanence, signing on full time with the federation.
After the silver anniversary of Breakthrough, Val would leave New York, and take Chris with him. Val spent every day training in preparation for his first main event match, that being against Brett Carson, leaving Chris to explore the City and meet the people closest to Val. First, Chris met with Donald Osman, the CEO of Battle Zone Network, the largest sports promoter and television network in the city. The two spoke in length about Osman's hatred of wrestling, and of Val's accomplishments. Seconds, Chris briefly met with Val's father, Oria Valquist, at the Derrida & Valquist HQ. Oria sent Chris on his way after a brief encounter, in which Oria claimed that Val is the perpetrator of a broken family, and that his pursuit of wrestling is nothing more than a veil that he hides with a fake smile. Chris went into these meetings with questions marks looming, and left believing that the myth of the Infinity wrestlers has only grown because Oria is their legal protector. Eventually Val speaks to Chris before his match with Brett, and discloses that he has often been regretful of his past, and in his extreme stints of loneliness it is his three mentors - Isis, Oria, and Osman - that are his greatest inspiration. Val's critical oversight of the wrestling landscape ends with an expected revelation that he's going to use this opportunity given to him by Brett to force the issue into becoming seen as a genuine contender for the Visionaries World Championship.
Following defeat against Brett Carson, the night of VOW's pay-per-view, whilst being attacked by two henchmen sent by Ryder Blade, Val's opponent, the Valiant wrestler subverts his reality into Dreamphase's. Instead of living with the real pain of being victimised and beat on, Val confides with Isis's stored memory, with the latter presenting a case for using the psychological power of Isis Derrida. The duo's story together continues when Val remembers the moment Infinity Wrestling became extinct, further causing headway between the tag partners. In the next Dreamphase, Val is tortured by Chris McCarthy, in a realised form of how wrestling news reporters treat wrestlers. Chris questions Val predominately about his humility and humbleness, and whether he has any. Val ends up breaking to Chris's mental form, stating that he misses his friends influence, but is scared of what he may become should he confided further with Isis. Val eventually awakes in reality, having been beaten to a pulp, just before his match against Ryder, and it is there where he finally opens his eyes, and learns humbleness. Val tells Chris a story hat he wrote when he was Ryder's age, about young adults that would give physical control of their bodies to a living God. Amongst the telling of the story, Val reveals secretly to Chris that he is aware that Ryder Blade is merely a secret identity for a wrestler called Jordan Jacobs who has gone into business with what he believes to be a bad crowd. Val's story links with Ryder in the sense that the young adult is lost in the world and requires guidance, but he shouldn't expect anything against Valquist. Chris learns that Val is a broken man who is nearing the end of his life span in wrestling. Chris ends up having to help Val to the stage for the match. To end the Dreamphase, Val is taken back to one last encounter with Isis, where Isis states that Val has stolen technology from an old Infinity member, the Copycat Kid, but the nature of the technology is not revealed. Val ends up admitting that he will embrace Isis, but he will do it for the good of the path of enlightenment.
Defeat against Ryder Blade, and a vicious backstage attack before the match, prompted Val to take a step out of the limelight. The Valiant wrestler did not appear at VOW's next show, Breakthrough #28, his only appearance coming from a web exclusive segment. Before leaving for Infinity, however, Val uses Chris as a mechanism for his mind to not be consumed with potentially evil thoughts following two defeats. You learn a lot about Chris's past; an International Relations and Politics graduate, a television and movie aficionado, an intelligent young kid rejected by the world that turned to wrestling, an entertainment source that he once revolted. Val learns that Chris carries a heavy burden on his shoulders, by that Val understands that Chris is crippled in the New York area because they don't let the young spread their wings and take flight, they cut the wings altogether.
In Infinity Val is reunited with Derrida's Diary, his brother's words before his retirement from the ring. Val takes up the majority of his time training with old friends in Infinity Arena whilst Chris has an encounter with a mysterious and unidentified individual in the Infinity Arena at night. The clerical being told Chris that Valquist is nothing more than a mantle and that Chris should question his loyalty to the Infinity native before he ends up like all the old Infinity wrestlers. It is once in Canada, away from Infinity, and the terrifying encounter with the unknown, that Chris hosts his Intro to Wrestling show, designated to Chris and Val talking about the Valiant's upcoming match against Cameron Behringer. It's also there that Val finally puts his own ink in Derrida's Diary. Val wants Isis to know that that nature of the world outside of Infinity has made Val question his own worth. He feels alien to everyone else, standing on a podium, alone. Val mentions that Cameron is the first to be on a podium, and that he has a respect for his opponent. Val, however, believes that Cameron was made to fail because he's not built with honesty in mind, he's built from a vine of corruption that will eventually make his podium falter. Val uses the diary the same way as Isis, to dissect his opponents, but says that any message to Cameron Behringer or VOW probably wouldn't be understood, and that only the enlightened would understand. Val eventually speaks about his match with Cameron, and states that defeats in his past won't defeat his path, and that Cameron is one of many barriers. Val believes Cameron breaks his own barriers because of his composition being unnatural and ends on a note of positivity, believing that the other Visionaries will also be alongside him on his path. Val ends the segment by reading over a heartfelt message by Isis on page 45 of Derrida's Diary that preludes that Isis knew his journey with Val was never meant to last, that letting go is the only means to move forward.
Heading into a main event match against Seth Iser at Breakthrough 29, Valquist spent all of his time in Canada. Val continued to write in Isis's diary, this time scribing that he believed that the Visionaries of Wrestling were failing Valquist the Valiant. Upon learning that Seth was unable to compete at Breakthrough, he attempted to change the main event, but management shut down Val's attempt at salvation. Val would later write one final passage in the diary, saying that management were right to shut him down, hence Val asking for the match to be cancelled altogether. Val reiterates that he'll show the world his path of enlightenment at Heatstroke.
Prior to the World Championship match at Heatstroke, Chris confesses in a private audio message that he's worried about Val heading into the World Championship match at Heatstroke. Chris reveals that he has not seen his friend for over three weeks, and that during their last encounter in the Canadian mountains, Val was trying to teach Chris a lesson about overcoming obstacles that are out of reach, for the wrong reasons. Chris travels to Infinity determined to figure out the puzzle between Isis and Val, leading Chris to Val's father, Oria. After a heated exchange, Oria reveals that Isis is not dead, and not even his closest family know of his whereabouts. Chris's search for enlightenment is partially fulfilled when he learns that he and Isis don't understand why wrestlers go through so much trauma and pain, all for a championship. Chris learns to sympathize with Isis's disappearance, but believes Val will get sucked into the void of Derrida's personality. Oria mentions that Val's only opponent, ever, has been Isis, and that his only goal is to destroy him. Following his trip to Infinity, Chris is waiting for Val at Heatstroke but his private locker-room is deserted, all except for Derrida's Diary. Chris reads the latest entry, from Val, that is an apology to Chris. An apology that he has corrupted his essence. Val admits that he needs Isis to win the World Championship and is a champion elect. Chris, nearly in tears after reading the passage realises that the final entry wasn't entitled 'Val' at the top, and when he looks up to see the shadow in the doorway, he does not see Valquist, but the monster of his own creation. Derrida.
Val returned home to Infinity City after Breakthrough 30 with the Visionaries World Championship, and was paraded in Infinity Arena as a hero. His accomplishment was later entered into the Historical Hub, Infinity's cultural heritage site. Prior to Val's in-ring return at Breakthrough 32, he went full circle with his return to the organisation by sitting down for a face to face interview with Darius Yates. Val was eager to talk about how past mistakes turn mortal men into champions, believing that Isis's arrival has brought an end to defeat and the mistakes that plague VOW. Val admits that he wouldn't have returned to the federation without Chris's help and motivation. That he truly believed that he was going to be sticking around for one match, and one match alone. Val sits in appreciation of how far he has come from that first moment back when he sat opposite Darius, and says that he doesn't fear opponents because his consistency and professionalism as a fighter means that it's up to his opponents to reach and elapse the benchmark he has set. Meanwhile, back home in Brooklyn, Chris watches Val's interview and falls asleep on his couch, surrounding by his family. He awakes, alone in the dark of the night. Waking to find that Isis Derrida was in his living room, Isis asked Chris how far he has confided with the Orphanage. Looking at a face of fear, Chris remains strong to his cause, and objects to Isis's existence. Derrida then brutalizes Chris in his own home, smashing his back and head against the wall before hitting him with the running knee of Enlightenment in his own living room. Chris's Muma, newly removed from knee surgery, hobbles down the stairs to check on Chris, who found himself alone, watching Isis leave his home.
Val is next seen on one of Infinity's districts, Paradise. Doing a promotional tour with the gold, he meets Jermaine Athonis, a radio host for PAN (Paradise at Night), to discuss his upcoming match with Casanova English. Val says that he is allowing each Infinity district one question. Looking up to the stars in the night, Jermaine asks Val about the legacy he'll leave behind as a professional wrestler. Val responds by saying that he's is trying not to become the sum of his own actions as World Champion. That he doesn't ant to talk a path already walked, and instead embrace what he knows to be true and right. Val says that he'll be his own champion, and believes that the war of tomorrow with English will the first of many title defenses. Val declares that he'll use the memory of Isis Derrida to upload the standards he's trying to weave into VOW, and that as champion, as a man, he owes his city nothing, but he will guarantees that he will continue to fight as champion. The final stop of Val's media tour is on Chris' Intro to Wrestling website, a message to the whole world, rather than just the Infinity districts. Val talks about his motivation for continuing his path, even with age against him in the business. Val talks in depth about the struggles of being a professional wrestler, and that his biggest motivation is being a person that's able to help elevate the industry, rather than hindering its longevity.
A day after Val's final war of tomorrow press call, Chris McCarthy is taken by Isis Derrida by unknown means. Isis unveils The Glass Cube to Chris, as a means for him to understand Val, and why it should help Chris back into's Val's life. Chris is forced to read an excerpt of Derrida's Diary to fully comprehend that Val uses the essence of the cube's meaning as the basis for the Full Measures's mantra. The night of Armed and Dangerous arrive, and after Val has some quiet time within Fort William Gardens, Chris eventually meets Val. Just like Isis, Val refuses to apologise to Chris, but Val's friend only wants him to be honest with himself. Val questions why Chris has returned to his side, and reveals that it was their talk with Isis and Chris that convinced him to seek reconciliation. Val is struck with concern, so probes Chris once the Brooklyn native unveils that he understands the meaning of the Glass Cube. Val asks for Derrida's Diary back, but Chris says that he gave it back to him already, as Isis. Val denies having the diary in his possession. The two sit with Chris holding the World Championship for the first time in silence as Val turns pale.
After Val failed to retain the World Championship against Casanova English, and a podcast from the Visionaries of Wrestling was released, Val went off the grid for the first three weeks of VoW's tour of Europe. After the emergence of the real Isis Derrida, the long-gone wrestler and Chris set out to hunt Val down with one simple mission. Bring him home. Believing that Val's time with the Visionaries was at an end, Isis was merciless and brutal in completing his mission. Stopping Val's public demonstration in the Cardiff Arena before his first match since losing the belt, against Winter Pine, the newest member of the Orphanage, Isis hit the running knee of Enlightenment to his brother, before dragging him back to the Pandemonium. Whilst returning to Infinity, Val regains his consciousness and opens up to Chris about his mistakes before Isis declares that he is going to be responsible for plotting any next steps on the path of enlightenment, but does not give any guarantees who will assume the role of Valquist, or where that role will be resumed.
To build up what could have been Val's final match, Chris McCarthy created a special video on his website, Intro to Wrestling, entitled The Age of Enlightenment. In this documentary, the best and worst moments of Val's career were aired, including his return to the federation, his victory for the World Championship, and the defeat to English. The setting for the documentary is set at the Madjeski Stadium in Reading, England, the location where Val and Isis made their wrestling debuts. Val is in the ring training for the big match, whilst Chris gets one final insight from Val's closest. Chris speaks to Oria Valquist, the father of Valquist, and he unveils that it was his involvement that saw Isis return in the flesh. Oria felt in necessary that he fight in Val's corner, believing that the Visionaries of Wrestling as an overall entity had failed his son. Oria believed that in Val's Darkest Hour he needed his brothers help. Chris then finally has a sit down with Isis Derrida, where it become's painfully obvious that the story of Full Measures was never really that complicated. First and foremost they are wrestlers, and Val's cryptic issue with the Visionaries was purely wrestling related. Isis is defiant to the last, claiming that Valquist has been wasting his time with a federation that will not blink twice to literally bury the Infinity star. Isis says the only justice is if Val buries himself and does not allow the final blow to be theirs. Isis did what Val wouldn't, and confronted the issues the federation has with elevating Casanova English to the top of the podium. Isis declared in a truthful tone that English was webbed to the company more, and that was his only advantage in the match. English in reality is no different to any other man, he is human, and just like any human, there are plenty of flaws. Isis said Val's issue with English was never personal because Valquist could never connect to English. Val never saw the 'it factor' in the now Champion, and to uphold his line of Full Measures, Isis agreed with Val.
Chris asks Isis the same question that led to Full Measures splitting up. Originally Val and Isis were asked if they would continue to the legacy of Infinity Wrestling. Isis declined, whilst Val accepted. Chris asked if Isis would ever let the legacy of Valquist live on, to become a greater symbol rather than one person, but Derrida declined once again. Faced with the same dilemma Val had - have your career ended, or continue something unique - Chris argued that the moniker of Valquist had been something worth holding onto, no matter the cost. Whilst the heated exchange continued, Chris noticed that the ring behind him was empty. Val had vanished, and Isis believed that he was never coming back, never to speak. Chris found one remnant of Val in the ring, Derrida's Diary. In it, on the back page, Val wrote the signature phrase commonly used by Full Measures before claiming that Chris could do something Val nor Isis could ever truly be. Champion.
VOW History
Val was for a brief moment in time a member of the Visionaries roster in 2014, but after one defeat, Val receded, not to reemerge until March of 2015. A returning Valquist agreed with VOW management that he would appear for the promotion on a week-by-week basis. Val defeated Ryder Blade at Nothing Else Matters, his first singles competition victory. Val returned to Breakthrough at edition number 24, beating Blue Suede Bruce, via knockout and followed it up by defeating Yeshua at Breakthrough's silver anniversary. Briefly before Val's third match back, he announced that he had signed with VOW on a permanent basis. After Valquist's match with Yeshua, he was sent an ominous message in the ring by way of a statue of live snakes that separated, forcing Val to retreat from his in-ring celebrations. Shortly after Breakthrough 25's culmination, it was revealed that Valquist would compete in his first main event match in VOW, going one on one against Brett Carson. At Breakthrough 26, leading up to the match with Carson, Val and Chris took part in a three segments called Intro to Main Eventing. The segment was cut into three parts, the bare basics of being in the main event from an entertainment standpoint. Firs,t Val cut a promo in front of the live audience for the very first time, citing Carson and the Orphanage as a gang of Vultures, picking at the federations flesh. Second, Chris promoted the main event via his podcast, but was subsequently attacked. Thirdly, after caring to Chris, Val cut a short backstage interview with Darius Yates, stating that he is unsure whether Carson was the perpetrator or not. Val ends by saying that a lifetime of service to the wrestling universe, and a host of inspirations, will help forge an excellence from from him in VOW. In the main event of Breakthrough, Valquist was ultimately left confused after losing to Brett Carson via pin-fall. Val had made Brett tap out via a Guillotine Choke Val believing he had triumphed, but his shoulders were flat against the mat, and consequently lost the match.
Two weeks removed from his match with Brett Carson, before his return PPV match against Ryder Blade, Valquist was attacked by two of Ryder's henchmen before his match, and entered the arena bloodied and bruised. Consequently, Val lost his second match on the spin after Ryder went down the well of using weapons more than once. Val was defeated via pin-fall. Valquist, didn't appear at Breakthrough 27, in fact his segment, Retreat from the Asylum, was cut from the broadcast. Instead the segment, which featured Val training with some old faces in Infinity Arena, watched by Chris McCarthy, was aired as a web-exclusive on the VOW website. Two weeks later, at Breakthrough 28, returning from a month off in Infinity City, Valquist lost his third consecutive match, this time against a fellow enlightened member of the roster, Cameron Behringer. Prior to the match at the start of the show during Ziu Zhong's championship celebration, Ryan Omega announced that Valquist would be one of a number of competitors competing for the World Visionaries Championship at Heatstroke in a Six Visions of Pain match. Val is joined by champion Zhong, Casanova English, Brett Carson, Stacy Jones, and Seth Iser in the upcoming championship match.
Val was set for a main event match with Seth Iser at Breakthrough 29, but Seth Iser was forced to withdraw from the contest, leading Val to remedy the situation by offereing an open challenge to all comers. Visionaries management denied Val the open challenge, which led the Valiant one to cancel his match with Seth Iser. Subsequently, Val didn't appear at Breakthrough 29, his only contribution to the show was a Derrida'a Diary entry for Seth Iser and his World Championship rivals that he posted on the VOW website. At Heatstroke in the main event for the World Championship 'Six Visions of Pain' match, Val was the 5th entry into the match. For the very first time, Val used Isis's finishing move, Enlightenment, to secure the final pin-fall of the match on Brett Carson. After some confusion in regards to the finish, Val was eventually as the winner and the new Visionaries World Championship. After the lights faded, not for the first time, Val was no longer present holding the World Championship. Derrida was. Isis then proceeds to dismantle the five competitors in the match before lifting high the golden belt.
Breakthrough 30 marked Val's first show since Heatstroke as champion. Per tradition, the third ever Visionaries World Champion, opened the broadcast. Live from Infinity City, Isis Derrida spoke for the first ever time, holding the golden belt, revealing that he is a mark of worthiness in the newly christened Age of Enlightenment. Isis spoke in depth about his revulsion at watching Val divulge to a level below his higher standard, but showed his joy at his brother winning the championship. Isis welcomes the new era of reality before we go live inside the arena at Breakthrough 31. Val's in-ring celebration turns into a fatal warning that the champion wants to be the trail-blazer for the company's top division, and will use Isis to root out the weak from the worthy. That from this point forward, it's Full Measures, or nothing. Later on the broadcast in a flashback, Chris is left distraught for his own future after Val's big win. After Derrida's debut, Chris is caught on camera with Darius Yates in total objection of Isis's arrival. Chris says that he and Val were no longer friends, and that he more than Isis is the man not to trust. To close Breakthrough 31, Valquist addressed the crowd, and said that any worthy contenders for the Visionaries World Championship would have to go through Isis Derrida. The latter appears in the ring and is confronted by Matt Robinson, but Isis refuses to fight The Punisher, instead exiting the ring via the stage lighting dimming.
Valquist was announced to be making his Breakthrough return at the 32nd edition, the first time he had formally competed at the televised show since the 28th edition. On the night of the main event match, Chris McCarthy appears in a backstage segment, condemning the arrival of Isis Derrida, and saying that this would be his last appearance. The Orphanage appear, and after a big effort to convince Chris to stay, the Brooklyn native ends up walking off to 'talk' with Casanova English and the rest of his flock. In the main event against the Punisher, Valquist was victorious via DQ after Casanova English spoiled the match by hitting Val across the head with the World Championship. The Orphanage put their stamp on the occasion celebrating over a fallen champion. Earlier on the show, English declares that he wanted a handicap match for the World Championship, and it was at Breakthrough 33 the duo would have a contract signing. Prior to the signing, English cuts a promo stating that a friend close to Val has illuminated him about the truth, and that the Orphanage have bigger dreams than just the World title. English in particular pinpoints Isis Derrida as the link in the chain that can ensure he gets a match for the world title. At the signing, English arrives first, calling out both of Full Measures. Valquist comes out, alone, and cuts a promo of his own. Ignoring English and his guard Corpse, Val asserts that English is not worthy of a match for the title, and that from the very beginning, Valquist has always been the dominant performer in the ring. Val then disappears as the lights fade, sending English into a fit in the ring. English takes his frustrations out on Darius Yates, the backstage interviewer, trying to draw Val back out into the public view, but English instead unearths Derrida. Isis wastes little time in going to war with English and Corpse, and after taking a beating (with little effect to Derrida), English is about to unveil the truth with Val and Isis, saying, "I chose you because I know that you and Val are...", but before finishing Isis lays out English with the running knee of Enlightenment. Having destroyed his surroundings, Isis picks up the microphone dropped by English, to finish what he started. Isis, with a smile reminiscent of Val, says "one and the same", signalling an end to the Breakthrough 33 broadcast.
At Armed and Dangerous, Val equaled Casanova English for the joint longest world title reign, but was unsuccessful in his bid to retain the belt. Once again, the decision to award English the match was a slightly questionable decision from the referee. Nevertheless, Val conceded the title without defending it, even if a Valiant effort was put forward. Following the defeat, Val would go dark for a number of weeks, not even appearing on Breakthrough 34, but would return at Breakthrough 35 to defeat Winter Pine. Prior to the match weeks before, Pine had aligned herself to the Orphanage as its newest recruit, but Val ultimately made easy work of Pine's attempts to finish what Casanova had started. To end the broadcast of Breakthrough 35, Valquist addressed the Visionaries in Cardiff and declared his anger of losing the Visionaries World Championship. Val made a vow to retire from the Visionaries of Wrestling if he is to lose his rematch at Darkest Hour, citing his nature to be 'Full Measures' or nothing.
Following the theme of closing shows, Valquist was not booked or earmarked for Breakthrough 36, but showed up at the last minute to confront Casanova English after a main event defeat to Matt Slater. News had broke that Valquist was ready to put his career on the line against English, and the Infinity native confirmed the rumours. Val stepped out amongst an orange fog of war where he was accompanied by a legion of holograms, all of Valquist. Standing next to a coffin, Valquist would declare his intent for the match - a Buried Alive spectacle, the first ever in VoW. Val runs the gauntlet on English, claiming the fog of war, and the holographic victims, were his only legacy, and he'd have a chance to redefine it. To be the man that destroyed the notion of an Infinity. To be the man that can never change, a man that won't lead the company upward, but will in turn destroy every foundation until there is nothing but the rubble he currently stood in. Val stated his intent to lead by example, and not behind a regime that is scared for dramatic change. Necessary change in the eyes of Valquist. By forcing the Buried Alive match, Val wishes to force permanent change on the Visionaries of Wrestling with two clear options. A right or a wrong. English was furious as Val was allowed an open floor, and any such fury doubled when Isis Derrida appeared from the shadows of the arena to force English out of the ring so he could confront his demons. Isis throws the World Championship in the coffin, and then as English charges at Val, the Valiant wrestler climbed inside the coffin and vanished. English ended up destroying the coffin, and its only remnant was the title title. Isis ends up with a microphone and declares the same as Valquist, that in Val's darkest hour it would be Full Measures or nothing.
At Darkest Hour, Val did not appear until the main event match against Casanova English. In a brutal Buried Alive match, Valquist became just another number of victims claimed by The Orphanage as he was buried by English, losing his career in the process.
Valquist 2.0 (Roleplay Story)
Since Darkest Hour, Chris McCarthy and The Copycat Kid (TCK) have been travelling the world, with Chris competing in numerous federations including those in the Infinity area. TCK is teaching Chris the art and value of character on the road. Getting momentum under his belt as the months progress, Chris finds his characters derailed and destroyed by Isis Derrida. Val's brother has taken it upon himself to not let Chris get comfortable with one gimmick, so just as one appears to taking off, Derrida will morph into the gimmick and exile Chris's characters by performing unscripted, heinous, and often dangerous moves that affect the safety of Chris's opponents. Eventually after months of shadowed characters, Chris unveils Time of Enlightenment, a novel detailing his time in the wrestling industry, with a particular focus on The Valquist character. Chris continues his path into wrestling adulthood, but finds his latest character, Pain, taken over in a federation called Paradise City Wrestling (PCW). Pain gets exiled and the pair come to the realisation that Derrida is after one thing only... For Chris to live up to Val's last words that Chris would become the next Valquist. After being sold on the idea by TCK, Chris and the Copycat began a platformed story to have Val return to the federation. Chris takes up writing in a red ledger to document his time in the ring adopting The Valquist character, just as the original did. After having his match with Kincaid at Heatstroke confirmed by Ryan Omega, Chris would be reunited with Chris at the PPV, with Chris in the disguise of The Valquist. Derrida would wish Chris luck, but makes it obviously clear that he doesn't want Chris to be part of VoW because he believes the federation to be poisonous. Chris tells Derrida that he doesn't want his identity as Chris unveiled, as this is not just his story to tell, and with Isis as part of this union, he can't have them on opposite sides if Full Measures is to work again. Derrida agrees, but claims that Chris will adopt the qualities of both Isis and Val, and not just the latter.
Valquist defeated Kincaid in easy fashion at Heatstroke with the Whirlwind finisher, which in his red ledger came as a surprise. Chris was ecstatic that the Valquist character looked strong on his in-ring return, which was a contrast of a life of struggle previously. Chris documents that he's ironing out the vaults of the original Valquist, and writes that wrestling is simple and that's how he wants The Valquist character to appear on VoW television. Chris only wants Valquist to do a job in the ring, and live up to his myth as the federations best athlete and competitor, eventually with the aim of reclaiming the World Visionaries Championship and making the golden strap the icon for good that never was in the past... With the milestone show Breakthrough 50 approaching, Chris arrives in Baltimore, claiming he was there to report on the event, and whilst in his hotel room he finds a parcel from TCK with the words 'all looks are deceiving' written on it. Inside is a dossier running down Valquist's opponent for the evening, Quest for the Case victor, Datura. As a master of imitation, Chris later writes in the ledger that doing your homework on an opponent and understanding the occasion are among the essentials for winning a wrestling match, something that a lot of characters no longer do... Later at the same Baltimore hotel, Chris's escort to Homewood Field is unfamiliar to the Brooklyn native, with the driver wearing a pin from Infinity City. Chris is eventually ushered into a limousine which contains TCK, Derrida, and Val's biological father, Oria Valquist. Fearing something tragic has happened, Oria reveals after Donald Osman gained control of it, the Infinity Wrestling Federation has also been reborn, popping up in cities worldwide and quickly vanishing before Oria's had a chance to understand what is happening. Derrida and TCK are suspicious that it is The Valquist's work, but Chris doesn't understand the negative, wishing his friend well in his new adventures. Isis is convinced that Infinity's revival will be Chris's downfall, as Val will turn Chris into the villain, just as he did with Isis. The three are in agreement that Valquist has the potential to destroy Chris's new found career as the new Valquist unless the matter is dealt with quickly. Oria tells Chris that is The Valquist, with Isis furthering that it was not his Mantle anymore. TCK ends by saying that Valquist may return as a nightmare to their cause and that soon the living and the dead would be reunited.
TCK and Chris get wind of a wrestling event in Mexico City on Friday 23rd September 2016, prompting the duo to arrive in a Zocalo, in the heart of a plaza surrounding the cities National Palace. An Infinity Wrestling event was promoted with Chris and TCK disguised amongst the crowd. Trying to figure out more about the promotion, and if Valquist is involved, they figure out that the company uses plants in the crowd as stage set up crew. The event eventually gets underway with a wrestler named Jingshen, the Purity Champion, addressing the crowd about his latest title defence. In Infinity, the Purity title was defended on every show, with the Chinese wrestler holding the belt during every pop-up event the company has promoted. Jingshen, draped in a yellow moulded mask of his own face, and red wrestling tights, talks about the revival of Infinity, and how he has been joined by another revived member of the wrestling community, and then declares that his next opponent for the Purity title would be The Valquist. Realising that their cover had been blown amongst the crowd, TCK goes quiet whilst Chris is forced to take the guide of The Valquist. Entering the ring and encountering Jingshen, the Infinity wrestler refers to Chris by his actual name, prompting Chris to question what Infinity knows, and if The Valquist is involved. After being told that the actual Valquist was 'buried', Chris takes out Jingshen before the match ever starts with the running knees of Enlightenment. Presented as a wrestling villain to the Mexican crowd, Valquist disappears amongst the crowd in order to escape Infinity's clutches for the evening.
Later, preparing for his match with Patrick Jones at Breakthrough 52, Isis Derrida confronts Chris backstage before the VoW event, and questions Chris's state of mind heading into the encounter. Chris was without TCK for the days leading up to Breakthrough 52, with the Copycat in hiding after nearly being exposed at the Infinity event in Mexico. Believing Chris to be off his game for the evening after reading a rather distracted and negative mindset viewpoint in Chris's red ledger diary towards the wrestling profession and Patrick Jones, Isis concludes that Chris is representing the Derrida brand of justice more than the good nature of Valquist. Isis decides to take Chris out with his own Enlightenment, taking the place as The Valquist for the evening at Breakthrough 52, and declaring that Chris only deserves the honour when he lives up to The Mantle of the Valquist. Isis does this to ground Chris when his opponents don't match up, so that Chris is always at the top of his game.
Following the incident in Mexico which nearly saw Chris's identity as Valquist become public knowledge, TCK eventually returns from the shadows as Chris is preparing his his upcoming pay-per-view match with Tristan Ambrose at Armed and Dangerous. TCK claims that in a moment of instability he became frightened of the prospect of a careers worth of copycatting would be unveiled, and ran for the shadows, but said that it was a good learning experience for Chris, as all wrestlers go through a period where their heart stops. In this solemn talk, TCK continually aligns Chris's intentions back to the ring, claiming success as a future World Champion will only be managed through in ring perfection. The pair train all night long, with the Copycat taking the guise of Tristan Ambrose... Having drawn out the challenger TCK and Chris then embarked on an educational lesson, using their dossiers and diary entries to squash the idea that Ambrose is a legitimate contender to beat Valquist, even at his best. Most telling was TCK's insight at how Valquist should be represented, claiming the vision of Valquist should always be forward. TCK states that the cameras at every event should follow Val from behind, so they see what he sees on his path of enlightenment. Chris agrees that come Armed and Dangerous, he'll be represented with new entrance music that better reflects his in-ring focus, the beauty of his in-ring work, that paints the story of a one of a kind champion... At the eventual Armed and Dangerous PPV, Isis Derrida once again meets with Chris before his match with Tristan to give him a silver mask that Val once wore during his time in VOW to deliver promos. Isis claimed the mask was a distraction from his face, providing a focus towards the vision of Full Measures. Isis enlightens Chris to his chemistry with Val, claiming that Val didn't want Isis at events as it signalled that Val had failed in his pursuits. Chris informs Isis that they are on the same team, but he's not needed tonight.
Valquist 2.0 (History)
During the broadcast of Breakthrough 47, wrestler Kincaid entered the ring a victorious man to address the Visionaries in the audience that over time were taking to his slow burning change of attitude. Enraged by an accidental house fire, living in a state state of self-paranoia, Kincaid threatened to lay his fingers on Darius Yates but before any fists were thrown, Valquist appeared, descending rapidly down from the rafters, making a return to the Visionaries of Wrestling after 9 months away. Clearing the ring of Kincaid, Val was quickly reprimanded and ushered away by a defensive security team, as the wrestler is still believed to be retired by the will and force of Casanova English. Before leaving Kincaid alone in the ring, Val claimed that he has walked the path of Kincaid, and he has lost. Leading up to Heatstroke 2016, Valquist appeared in the ring to address his return to VoW, but his presence was met with hostility from Visionaries management and was escorted from the arena before Kincaid could respond to his challenge of a match at Heatstroke. In the following weks Val left numerous vignette video packages for Kincaid to dwell on, claiming that his return was to help stop people in their plight. At Breakthrough 49, Val appeared outside of the arena and spoke with Darius Yates. Flanked by an army of supporters, Val claims he will leave the decision to VoW's management in regards to his return. Later that same night Ryan Omega officially announced that Valquist would make his return to the promotion. At Heatstroke, Valquist defeated Kincaid in a matter of minutes, declaring his formal in-ring return with a dominant victory.
Valquist was booked to make his episodic return at Breakthrough 50, a special event labelled "Visions Under The Stars", against the third Quest to the Case winner, Datura. On the night of Breakthrough 50, Valquist defeated Datura within minutes, using the running knee of Enlightenment to add a second victory to his resume since returning to VoW... At Breakthrough 51 Valquist did not compete, but was backstage for a talking segment with Darius Yates. Val states that he is still going through the motions with his return, and is just there to enjoy the show. Knowing harder days are on the horizon, Valquist puts a challenge out to the VoW roster for a match at Breakthrough 52, and if Valquist was victorious that he would pick the match type/stipulation for any match at the Armed and Dangerous pay-per-view. Valquist was later booked to open Breakthrough 52 against Patrick Jones. At Breakthrough 52 Valquist quickly disposed of Patrick Jones in a pin-fall victory before cutting a promo stating that his challenge for the Armed and Dangerous pay-per-view was still open, and that the Valiant One was looking for real challengers. Just as Val would leave, he was attacked by Tristan Ambrose on the ramp, taking Valquist out. Ambrose mocked Val's existence in the federation, claiming that it's unfair and wrong that he's not buried alive, as promised. Later, Valquist enacted his stipulation and opponent at the PPV, obviously picking Ambrose as the challenger in a singles match.
