The scene opens to a shot of the studio, with Zelda Lawson shown sitting in front of a dark backdrop.
Zelda Lawson: Hello everyone, and welcome to this very special exclusive interview. I’m your host, Zelda Lawson. Please welcome my guest tonight, the current I4NI Champion, Heath Williams.
The camera pans out to show Heath Williams seated on a stool next to Zelda, dressed in casual clothing, with the I4NI Title belt resting on his shoulder, warhammer on his lap. Zelda extends a professional hand toward the man as a sign of respect.
Zelda Lawson: Thanks for taking the time to do this, Heath.
Heath Williams: Not a problem. You are Ty’s missus, after all.
He takes her hand and the two shake before going back to business.
Zelda Lawson: We’ll get into your thoughts and feelings about Fate of the Gods in a moment, but first, I’d like to ask you about your injury. How are you feeling?
Heath Williams: Well you saw the tag match at the last Breakthrough, right? It’s no secret that Saint somehow managed to re-aggravate the injury but I’m doing okay, nonetheless. It was ten times worse back when Bickerton first attacked me but I’ve been pushing through, pain’s just weakness leaving the body after all.
Zelda Lawson: Can you recall the night you became the I4NI Champion? What kind of thoughts were going through your head when you won, and after what happened following your victory?
Heath Williams: Everything was great, I had just won my second championship here in VoW, I had one hell of a freakin’ showdown with your Husband and for the first time in a long time it felt like the stars had aligned and that it was all going my way. However, the saying “all good things must come to an end” is no joke and Bickerton made sure as hell that I wasn’t on top of the mountain for too long. In my eyes, his act was out of jealousy and I don’t think I could ever forgive him for trying to end my career, for trying to take me away from what I’m best at.
Zelda Lawson: Well, we actually have Tyron standing by, coming in to us via satellite.
The camera cuts to a shot of a flat screen TV, with Tyron’s scowling mug on it. Heath sneers.
Zelda Lawson: Tyron, welcome. It’s a pleasure to have you here.
Tyron Bickerton: After having to listen to him, yeah, I’m sure it is.
Zelda Lawson: Umm, anyway… The reason we’ve invited both of you here this evening is to tell your individual sides of this story, and let the fans at home know what they can expect from you two at Fate of the Gods on June 16th.
Tyron Bickerton: That’s fine with me. As you know, I have no problem telling the truth.
The camera cuts back to a shot of Zelda, as she looks over her notes.
Zelda Lawson: Right, so we already asked Heath what he was feeling at Nothing Else Matters, and you were listening in. Do you have anything in response to what he said?
Tyron is shown on the screen once again, shaking his head.
Tyron Bickerton: I do, as a matter of fact. What I did at Nothing Else Matters wasn’t out of jealousy, not by any means… I did what I did to protect Heath Williams! Nothing more, nothing less.
Heath Williams: Does anybody else smell that? Oh, wait, it’s just the shit pouring out of your mouth, ain’t it Bickerton?
Tyron Bickerton: Not a good idea to piss me off, Williams! You’ve seen what happens when--
Zelda Lawson: Boys, boys! Let’s try to keep this civil.
Tyron Bickerton: Heath Williams just doesn’t know how to say no, Zelda. He’s a junkie, he can’t help himself! As his friend, I knew that words wouldn’t get through to him - hell, the whole world saw what happened when I asked him not to do drugs again. The only way to protect my friend was to end his career, and I still firmly believe that.
The camera shows Zelda and Heath once again, as Zelda turns to him.
Zelda Lawson: Heath… Your thoughts?
Heath Williams: No, the only way to protect yourself was to end my career. Because you know that as long as I’m around, there are no World Championship matches ahead of you, there are no singles Tyron Bickerton main events. The only thing for you when I’m around, is obscurity.
Tyron is shown once again, seemingly irritated by Heath’s claims. Before another argument can break out, Zelda is quick to step in.
Zelda Lawson: At Breakthrough 46, we saw the two of you in the same match for the first time since Nothing Else Matters. Heath, can you tell us a little bit about your thought process going into that match? What were your objectives, if any?
Heath Williams: My objective was what my objective always is, to fight, to bash some skulls in, to give the fans a match they wouldn’t forget. However, if I had’ve had the chance to wrap my fingers around Bickerton’s throat then that would’ve been pretty damn satisfying too.
Tyron Bickerton: Yeah, I bet it would’ve been. Did you see what happened out there, Zelda? He tried to kill me with that damn hammer! My daughter was at ringside, I had to get out of there to protect her from his maniacal rampage!
Heath Williams: Daughter?! DAUGHTER?! She’s asian for pete’s sake!
Tyron Bickerton: She’s Middle Eastern, moron! Anyway, the point is, your reckless behaviour could’ve led to an innocent little girl being seriously injured! That’s the thing about you getting into the state you’re in - people around you tend to get hurt by your actions! Take your partner, for example.
Zelda Lawson: That’s actually what I wanted to cover next… Kelsey Spencer was seriously injured following that match, to the point where doctors are saying she may never wrestle again… Tyron, why do you think Rebecca would’ve done something so heinous?
Seemingly disgusted by Zelda’s question, Tyron suddenly becomes overly defensive of his beloved girlfriend’s actions.
Tyron Bickerton: Oh, don’t try and pin the blame for this on her! Spencer knew the risks heading into this match, and yet she still wanted to go ahead with it. Rebecca did what anyone in her situation would do - she simply put the wounded animal out of its misery. If Kelsey had just listened to my warning about Heath, she’d be training for the match of her life; but she didn’t, and instead, she’s nowhere to be seen. Who’s the one who abandoned her, huh?! Who else but Heath. Her career - her blood - is on the hands of Heath Williams, and nobody else.
Zelda remains awkwardly silent, clearly uncomfortable with discussing the hardship of one of her close friends.
Heath Williams: Say what you like but Kelsey’s a fighter, she’ll be back in no time at all and when she is, Saint’s in for a world full of pain my friend. I’m not worried about her because in some ways she’s just like me, this isn’t going to set her back. If anything, it’s just going to fuel her to push past her limits.
Obviously distraught and desperate to change the subject, Zelda fidgets with her notes.
Zelda Lawson: Let’s get back on track here, alright guys? Let’s talk about Fate of the Gods… You guys are opening the show with a Pick Your Poison 2-out-of-3 Falls Match… Heath, are you nervous heading into this?
Heath glares at her, expression as blank as blank can be.
Heath Williams: You’re kidding, right? When is The Hardcore Hero ever nervous? No, I’m looking forward to this bout because despite our differences, I know that whenever I step into the ring with Bickerton, I’m in for a fight. And fighting’s one of the things I love most.
Zelda throws up her hands as a sign of peace; she’s just doing her job, and doesn’t want to antagonise anyone. Of course, Tyron has something to say once again.
Tyron Bickerton: You know, Zelda… Even though you’re the one who invited me here, I get the feeling as though you don’t actually wanna talk to me. It’s because I blocked you on Twitter, right?
Zelda Lawson: No, that’s not--
Tyron Bickerton: It’s fine. What ever excuse you have, save it. The fact is, you two can have your little tea party and ignore me all you want, but come Fate of the Gods, no-one will be able to ignore the fact that I was right all along! I have no problem fighting you, Heath, if that’s what I gotta do to make you go to rehab. I’ll cripple you, if I have to! Wrestling is bad for you, Heath, and if you don’t get out now, there won’t be anything left but an empty shell - an empty shell of a man who was too f*cking stupid to walk away when he had the chance!
Heath Williams: I don’t think you get it. When I’m not wrestling, that’s when I’m an empty shell of a man, that’s when I’m at my most vulnerable but when I am apart of the biz, I can’t be happier. As long as I continue to do what I love then I’ll never be an empty shell, I’ll always be The Hardcore Hero.
Tyron Bickerton: Maybe you can pull the wool over everyone else’s eyes with that facade of yours, but not mine. Are you forgetting just how long we’ve known each other?
Heath Williams: It’s been long enough for you to be hidden in my shadow the entire time.
Tyron Bickerton: Alright, that’s it!
Tyron stands from his seat, and approaches the camera filming him.
Zelda Lawson: Tyron, sir, please sit bac--
Tyron Bickerton: Shut up, Zelda!
She hushes as Tyron begins to rant.
Tyron Bickerton: I’m done babysitting you, Williams! In fact, you never would’ve made it this far if I didn’t carry you here. And I didn’t even get a thanks in return. If there was ever a time for you to thank me, it should’ve been following Nothing Else Matters - you should be thanking me for not dismantling you before you won that pathetic, piece-of-trash title belt you’re holding onto there… Because I can guarantee, if I had, you wouldn’t be sitting there with that smug, sh*t-eating grin on your face.
He sits back down, the volume of his voice also lowering.
Tyron Bickerton: Regardless of what you probably think, this isn’t about fame, or money, or even that belt for me - that belt is worthless, I don’t even want that belt. This is about me proving that I was right about you all along, Heath.
Heath stands, warhammer in his right hand while keeping the title steady with his left.
Heath Williams: You can say whatever the hell you want about me, Bickerton but insulting this championship? No. That’s going too far. How dare you mock this title, it represents the entire hardcore nation. It represents me, it represents Tyler Storm, it represents Dathyn, it represents Cera and most importantly, it represents all of the fans that adore a little bitta carnage.
Tyron’s shown for a split second, shaking his head, unimpressed expression on his face.
Heath Williams: You know what? I’m tired of looking at that ugly mug. Hey Zel, might wanna stand back.
Zelda Lawson: Huh? But..why?
Heath Williams: Just do it, trust me.
Zelda anxiously gets out of her seat and takes several steps back. Heath rests the I4NI Championship down before getting the warhammer at the ready and lining it up against Tyron’s face.
Tyron Bickerton: You’re a savage, Williams! Don’t even think of--
Heath smacks the head of the hammer against Tyron’s face and an explosion that would jar the ears occurs, electronic smoke radiates out from the back of the Television set with a huge crack centre screen that resembles that of a spider-web. Zelda almost jumps out of her skin, a look of pure terror and shock plastering itself over her face.
Zelda Lawson: What have you--?!
Heath Williams: That was louder than I expected.
She steps back into frame, inspecting the damage of the now-defunct TV.
Zelda Lawson: Why would you do that, Heath?! This will probably be coming out of my paycheck…
With a shrug, Heath digs into his pockets and pulls out several subway coupons, spreading them out along the table.
Heath Williams: There, that should cover it.
He picks up his championship, gives Zelda a farewell nod and exits the scene. Zelda glances down at the coupons, back at the TV, and then inspects the coupons further.
Zelda Lawson: Wait a minute…
She turns over her shoulder, shouting to Heath.
Zelda Lawson: ...These are expired!
The statement falls on deaf ears. The scene ends with a shot of Zelda standing in front of the smashed plasma TV - no official sign-off will be heard on this day.
