In a quiet neighbourhood, nothing can be heard except the chirping of happy little birdies. Everything is sunshine and lollipops.
One house in particular is where Rebecca Saint is headed for. The house is a small brick home with a few garden gnomes on the front lawn. She walks up the small path leading to the door.
As always, Mimi is accompanying her.
Mimi Mai Saint: “Ugh, why are we here again? This place smells funny…”
Rebecca Saint: “We are here because we have some important news for Kelsey's mother. As your mother I would want to know when or if something happened to you.”
She begins knocking on the door. Moments later, an old woman opens the door.
Rebecca Saint: “Margaret Spencer?”
Margaret Spencer: “Yes..? Who are you?”
Rebecca Saint: “My name is Rebecca Saint, I'm a… Friend of your daughters.”
Margaret Spencer: “You know Kelsey?”
Her face lights up with hope.
Margaret Spencer: “I haven't heard from her in days! Where is she?”
Rebecca no-sells her question, instead forcing her way into the house… Of course, Mimi follows.
Rebecca Saint: “What a… Nice place you have Mrs Spencer.”
Dumbfounded, Kelsey’s mum turns to see Mimi reaching into a satchel and grabbing out a handful of dirt. She hurls it across the floor, just in time for Rebecca to step onto it.
Like any sane person, Margaret takes exception to this.
Margaret Spencer: “What is she doing?! Who are you people?!”
Rebecca Saint: “Like I said we know your dear daughter, Kelsey Spencer. The dirt is soil from Saint City, I do what I wish on Saints soil.”
Margaret Spencer: “I still don't understand… What is Saint’s City..?”
Mimi angrily storms over.
Mimi Mai Saint: “You stupid old bat! Saint City is where me and my mother come from!”
Rebecca Saint: “Mimi, she may be an old bat but that is no way to treat a mother.”
Mimi Mai Saint: “Yes, mother. Sorry, mother.”
Rebecca turns to Margaret.
Rebecca Saint: “She doesn't really like it here...nor does she like you. Neither do I, to tell you the truth.”
Margaret Spencer: “Tell me why you're here right now, before I phone the police!”
Rebecca Saint: “We are just here to tell you that your daughter is gone…”
She fakes a sad face for a moment, but then begins to laugh.
Rebecca Saint: “Sorry, I couldn't help it.”
Margaret, with her the receiver of her wall phone in her hand, looks back at Rebecca with concern.
Margaret Spencer: “Gone? What do you mean she's gone?”
Rebecca Saint: “How do I put this?”
Rebecca has a big smile on her face.
Rebecca Saint: “She is no longer here... Gone with the wind… MIA… No longer with us… There are many more ways I can state the fact that your daughter has disappeared.”
Margaret Spencer: “That's it, I'm calling the cops!”
As she begins to dial, Mimi places a single finger on the hang-up button.
Mimi Mai Saint: “Sorry, but they have no jurisdiction here.”
Margaret Spencer: “Pardon?”
Mimi Mai Saint: “You're on Saint City soil now! They have no authority in Saint City!”
Mimi pokes her tongue out as Margaret becomes increasingly frustrated by the intruders in her home.
Rebecca Saint: “By the way Mimi and I are the reason she is no longer here.”
Rebecca just keeps smiling and laughing.
Rebecca Saint: “You said earlier if we knew Kelsey… She never mentioned me?”
Margaret isn't interested in answering any of Rebecca’s questions by this point. She glares at her as Mimi pipes up from the other side of the room, holding up a photograph of a middle-aged man.
Mimi Mai Saint: “Who’s this? Kelsey’s dad or something?”
Margaret Spencer: “Yes, now you put that down!”
Mimi Mai Spencer: “Okay, okay… What about that guy?”
She points to another photo, this time it's an elderly man with a young girl on his knee. The quality of the photo makes it look like it’s from quite a few years ago.
Rebecca goes to the photo and grabs it.
Rebecca Saint: “That looks like our Kelsey as a young girl, but that isn't her father… Grandfather maybe?”
Rebecca looks at Margaret to get a reaction, who decides to try a new approach. If she co-operates with Rebecca, maybe she’ll leave sooner.
Margaret Spencer: “Yes, that's Kelsey with my father… He died a long time ago…”
Rebecca Saint: “I'm sorry to hear that…”
Rebecca puts the photo down.
Rebecca Saint: “Do you visit his grave often?”
Margaret Spencer: “I try to, as often as I can… But he's buried in Philadelphia… I moved here with my husband a few years ago, and when we separated, I planned to go back, but…”
Mimi Mai Saint: “Where’s your husband now?”
Margaret Spencer: “No idea. I only hear from him when he needs something…”
Rebecca Saint: “That must be hard for Kelsey… Your father must have played a big part in her life?”
Margaret Spencer: “She adored him. The day he passed away was devastating for her.”
Mimi remains uncharacteristically silent on the other side of the room, staring down at the scattered soil sinking into the fibres of the carpet.
Margaret Spencer: “Where is Kelsey? Is she alright?”
Rebecca Saint: “The last time we saw her she was in a lot of pain, holding her arm after losing a wrestling match against me.”
Something finally clicks in Margaret’s mind and she identifies Rebecca as the one Kelsey used to tell her about in their phone conversations.
Margaret Spencer: “You're the one who used to abuse my daughter, aren't you! That socialite woman!”
Rebecca Saint: “So she did talk about me, but it doesn't look like it was all good.”
Rebecca steps towards Margaret.
Rebecca Saint: “The socialites are no more, she left…”
Mimi returns to her mother’s side.
Mimi Mai Saint: “That's why we had to take her out. For good!”
Giving up a good foot in height, Margaret has no problem staring Rebecca down square in the eyes. Mimi takes the photo of Kelsey and her granddad from her hands and glances at it.
Mimi Mai Saint: “I guess this’ll come in handy…”
Rebecca Saint: “Why is that my dear Mimi?”
Mimi Mai Saint: “Because it's probably important to Kelsey. If she comes back, we’ve got something on her.”
Margaret Spencer: “No! You can't take that, it's not yours!”
Rebecca Saint: “Don't worry Margaret, we will keep it safe.”
Rebecca motions to the door.
Rebecca Saint: “I think we have over stayed our welcome, Mimi.”
Mimi Mai Saint: “Yes, Mother!”
Margaret grabs a hold of Mimi’s arm.
Margaret Spencer: “You leave that picture here, you little witch!”
Rebecca grabs the arm Margaret used to grab Mimi.
Rebecca Saint: “Don't touch her.”
She then takes that arm off Mimi, slaps Margaret in the face, who then falls to the floor hard.
Rebecca Saint: “‘Mimi, do it now.”
Mimi nods her head, then grabs hold of Margaret and locks her in an impressive crossface move, which immobilises the woman. She cries in pain, her speech muffled by Mimi’s hands over her mouth. Rebecca leans down in front of Margaret’s face.
Rebecca Saint: “You think you are better than me!?”
She slaps her hard again.
Rebecca Saint: “You have no control over me!”
Slap!
Rebecca Saint: “You are nothing!”
Slap!
Rebecca Saint: “Kelsey is NOTHING! She's GONE!”
Mimi finally releases the hold, and Kelsey’s battered mother remains motionless on the carpet.
Rebecca Saint: “Let's go Mimi.”
Rebecca and Mimi leave the house with the photograph in their possession.
