It was a lovely weekend trip into Vegas with Zoey, and while Kat quite enjoyed the shows she took in of her lovely magician it was now time to get back to work. Running the Kat Empire, as she called it, wasn't exactly an easy task but a fulfilling one at the least. Katie Klein had done a fair job keeping things running in her absence but there were still submissive reports to go through. As Kat's own little empire had come to expand, certain individuals were granted higher ranking positions in that they might take on some of the load. They were known as Submissives in Kat's world with her partner Katie being her second in command, or Primary.
However, at times Kat would need to reach out beyond her own measures when it came to running things smoothly. In the biggest and most recent instance, a construction company contracted to convert a part of the warehouse (or Dungeon) into a grand indoor pool rich with saunas and a few hot tubs along with an aquarium all along the walls. The crew was mostly men and Kat still had her discomforts with them, but she had grown to trust the foreman. He knew precisely what Kat wanted and the two had even worked together before. First with converting the warehouse into the Dungeon and then converting a hotel into a brothel. Still, the meetings had to be short between them and Kat didn't frequent the construction site until she knew it was safe both physically and mentally. All of it was for, however, a new kink Kat was slowly getting herself into, albeit the most dangerous one she could offer out to clients. So it was certainly an exciting yet stressful time for the young dominatrix.
It's why at this point it saddened her the most to be losing one of her most faithful and long lasting slaves from her roster. Not that she was kicking over tables and screaming for the blood of one Kathryne Moicelle. It was just something she had to deal with and working was a means of moving past it. It's why it was rather surprising when a gentle knocking came on her office door with Claire, Katie's new beau, poking her head around smiling a little. Kat rests down her tablet and smiles inviting her former slave to sit down.
Katalina: This is certainly a treat, I wasn't certain you would come down here again.
Claire: Well,
The recently freed woman begins as she takes the seat across from Katalina's desk. She rubs her thighs and looks around as if seeing this office for the first time. She's definitely been here before, though not like this. It almost felt like she was coming back to her old job site after months of absence, even though it had only been a few days.
Claire: We're still friends, so no problem coming down to hang out, right?
Katalina: Of course, love. So...how are things?
Claire: Great, great. Just got back from Crossville, a lot of Katie's stuff is still in boxes but we're steadily getting things moved into my place.
Katalina: Still beneath the shop?
Claire: Yeah, just gonna start saving up for our own place now. Not...not that this is what this is all about, Kat. We've decided we aren't going to accept hand outs. We're just gonna get things ourselves.
Katalina: Understandable and, if I may say, admirable. I wish you the best of luck in that.
Claire: Thanks.
Claire continues looking around the office as Kat watches her with a growing smile. Eventually, she slides her tablet to the side to make room for her hands clasping them together in front of her.
Katalina: Is there something more on your mind, love?
Claire: Actually,
Claire looks down one final time as she sighs moments before glancing back up at Kat with a sort of troubled expression on her face.
Claire: Do you think...this whole thing is right?
Kat pauses a moment knowing Claire would have a big explanation behind this.
Claire: I don't mean to question what I have with Katie, I love her. It's just...the way it went down. I know Stacy's not as bad a person as I was first led to think, I'm pretty sure this is all that Winter chick's fault with everything, but without any of that Katie and I wouldn't have gotten together.
The whole situation was definitely bigger than that involving a lot more players. This was just, as astronomic as it was for those directly involved, it was just a small part in a grander scale. Something, while not being directly involved, was something Kat was still being made aware of.
Claire: I don't know... I just know at some point I do need to apologize to Stacy. Then there's the whole differential things between Katie and myself.
Katalina: Such as?
Claire: Katie's a champion fighter! She's going on to become this global phenomenon and I'm just selling dildos to lonely housewives.
Kat can't help but laugh there on the end part before calming it into a smile.
Katalina: And? Do you think Katie doesn't realize all this? The fact remains she still loves you. She might catch some flak from the masses, individuals who can't think of anything better to say about her. But even then it shouldn't matter what they think. I'm set up against four people who will all most likely tell the same jokes about me. Just love Katie, okay? If Stacy is ever upset with it she'll come to you. Okay?
Everything seemed wrapped up so easily there. It's one of the reasons Claire stuck around with Kat for so long and still hopes their friendship can maintain even now. Although, if she were to bring that up Kat would just say their friendship wasn't based around the whole slave/Mistress dynamic they had going on until just a week ago. So Claire doesn't really say anything. She just smiles and nods.
Claire: Love Katie. I think I can handle that.
Having just finished getting back on track with her work, Kat decides to take a short break outside her home now not ten minutes from the Dungeon. She sits underneath an umbrella sticking out from the middle of a nearby table, which also hosts a moistened glass of lemonade. To her left stood Holly, aka Blink, decked out in her full maid attire resting a silver serving tray underneath her arm simply waiting to be called upon. On hands and knees before the dominatrix was Candi chasing and pawing at a light being controlled by the domina becoming quite amused by her pets antics. This might seem like a trip of power when it came to holding Candi's leash, but it was the Barbie look-alike who opted for this game declaring that “today was the day”. It would break Kat's heart to tell her it was a fruitless effort, but every session could end with Candi as close as possible to it with the domina focusing the light on the palm of her pet. For now though, as the game has only just started, Kat focuses on giving Candi a workout all along the patio floor. Eventually, her eyes divert down to the beach. She offers out the toy and leash to a surprised Holly then rises from her seat.
The night is absolutely beautiful, what with the city lights far enough away to allow many more stars into sight for those who watch. Calming is the crash and retreat of the waves, lapping at wet sand mere inches from the magician’s bare toes. She sits upon the sand and watches the foam contently while the breeze tosses her left-down hair… that is, when her eyes are not upon the skies above. A pure white dahlia rests in her hair, just over her left ear, while a seashell brooch rests around her slender neck, a recent gift from Katalina. The royal purple of her dress is well off-set by flowers of the same form as that which adorns her locks and the shells, from time to time, are caressed by her fingertips while her other hand braces her upon leaning back. Unworn sandals sit next to her as, for the first time in weeks, Zahara looks… peaceful.
Katalina: Figured it would suit you.
The domina smiles as she comes down along the sand herself speaking only when close enough that her voice could be heard over the waves. Her white dress wafting about in the breeze as she draws her hair back in a futile effort to leave it from obscuring her vision. Ultimately she comes beside her lady love.
Katalina: Mind if I join you?
Zahara: Please do.
Removing her sandals from that spot, Zahara places them on the other side of her body, reaching up to offer a hand to her lover so that she might have support as she lowers herself next to the magician.
Zahara: Your work is done for the evening, then?
Katalina: Yes.
She replies accepting the hand as she takes it easy on the way down into the sand. It was a rather long and tiring day so it’s nice that she can end it like this. Once seated, she scoots over a little closer so their hands can rest just between their laps.
Katalina: So I’m afraid that you’ll have to deal with me on your own now.
The domina smiles before leaning in planting a gentle, yet wet kiss along her lovers’ cheek while gently massaging her thumb into her hand.
Katalina: How was your day?
Zahara: I think… Catherine needs a break.
She might have smiled at that, and did after a fashion though it was a tad wan.
Zahara: Trying to make up for lost time caused me to get a bit rough with her, so she got rough back and… tempers need to cool, we agreed.
Turning her hand, she clasps that of Katalina, closing her eyes for a moment. Zahara felt the need to stop seeing and let the sensations take over. That simple effort caused a rush of peace to course through her body.
Katalina: I’m surprised she agreed to that.
Kat laughs a little. From what she’s been told of Catherine by Holly, and what she’s seen, Catherine wasn’t exactly known for her calming temperament. However, if Zoey could keep things calm between them then maybe they were getting closer and Catherine was opening up. News that would certainly make Holly happy.
Katalina: Again, sorry for the extended stay in Vegas, love. Aside from keeping you from pushing yourself too much, I needed the time for myself.
Zahara: You really could have said that from the start. Is it the pay-per-view that’s wearing on you or something else? You’ve seemed strung-out lately.
Katalina: Incredibly, love. And sorry.
Kat lets out a low sigh squeezing hold of Zoey’s hand a little.
Katalina: It isn’t the opponents or the match style itself, I’ve just never been too good on these sorts of events. Big event scenarios, you know? My career has essentially stated that as such.
Zahara: Why do you think that is? Is it the pressure of the event itself? Is the problem more internalized? Or is it that life just seems to get more hectic and daunting around these events, leaving you weathered before you even step out the curtain?
Despite only being in the business several months herself, Zahara was learning quickly… which was both good and bad. Good in that she was acclimating well enough to the highs and lows. Bad in that she was still feeling overwhelmed herself. Especially when it came to her friends and her own match at Fate of the Gods II.
Katalina: I’m not certain, love.
Kat has to admit with a shrug of her shoulders.
Katalina: It’s been going on since the start of my career so maybe...it’s a fear of changing my own status quo? I try to calm, I try to relax...sometimes it works others, many others, not so much. Maybe I should just put it into my contract that I don’t do Pay Per View events, right?
She laughs a little even though knowing that clause would just limit her working options. The magician smiles a bit, but shakes her head.
Zahara: It doesn’t have to stay that way, you know. Whatever mental block this is, you can work past it. And you know good and well I’ll help you.
Katalina: Thank you, love.
Kat responds before resting back some bracing herself up with use of her other arm in behind her watching the waves gently crashing along the shores getting closer to their feet with each stride.
Katalina: I just need the one win for confidence but getting to that,
She turns her head and smiles toward Zoey leaning in to plant another kiss along her cheek.
Katalina: I’m glad I have you.
Zahara: That goes for both of us.
Her cheeks go pink with the kiss and Zahara scoots a little closer to Kat, the two clasping hands which rest between them once more, continuing to watch the waves in peace.
Back inside of Katalina's office, the dominatrix finds herself distracted from her work watching down at her finger as it rolls an engagement ring an inch along her desk. With the diamond on the ring it could only go so far anyway but it doesn't seem to matter. It's...fun for Kat to watch, one would suppose, otherwise she wouldn't keep doing it.
Katalina: A chance to turn things around.
Down in one of the lounges, Claire sits up on a couch hugging a pillow up close to her while describing her new found love in Katie to a group of her former peers. It results in more than a few giggle breaks as the others lean in anxious to hear on the exploits of Claire's new life.
Katalina: A chance to become whole again.
To a much larger gathering in a more open area, Candi gives a performance from her taekwondo class. A pattern that had helped her achieve her blue belt ranking. There's loud applause as Candi performs each kick with a smile.
Katalina: A chance to become better.
Away from the ruckus, Katie Klein sits up in her room looking over her own tag title belt drawing her fingers over the “Naughty Girls” nameplate when a brunette comes to the side holding out some polish and a clothe. Both of which are eagerly accepted as Katie's pet soon kneels beside her Mistress.
Katalina: How many of these chances have I come across? To make better what I am and who I am. How many times have I just failed? Not just convincing others but myself. My chance in making things better is coming, I can't slip up again.
Kat grips up the ring in her hand before opening her fingers to look it over. She stares over the design for a few moments then finally opens up a side drawer pulling out a small, velvet covered box. Placing the ring back inside, she closes the box and places it in the drawer moments before closing it.
Katalina: I need to convince myself I can be better before I ask the same of others.
From there, the domina's attention turns toward her calendar hanging up along the wall. It's a kitten calender because...Candi. Yep, more than a name Candi's just become a reason now. This month is calico in the meadow. But more importantly is the circled date of the 16th. A date Kat just has labeled as being “Turn the tide”.
Backstage at the Xcel Energy Center, Katalina Star is preping herself in a dressing room. Not a dressing room for her, just a dressing room. Pre show appearances or even anything below mid card wouldn't warrant her a private space in which to change. In fact, if the main eventers got theirs then certainly Kat might be a little concerned. But it doesn't matter right now, fact is at this point Kat is alone in the dressing room next to Candi rummaging through her Mistress' bag looking for the next article of attire that might be needed.
Katalina: Scene in a locker room, how cliché is that. Right? But it's not, thank you.
Kat's little thank you comes when Candi has produced the domina's pair of thick boots. No heavy heels, she's not standing at ringside today.
Katalina: It's not the whole locker room scenario that I'm trying to give you. Instead, it's what I have to say on the match. Simply put, this match is more than just a qualifier to me. I'm sure those that have done their history or have just listened to me the last few days will know that...big events and myself don't exactly click together well.
Candi pulls out a glove to which Kat accepts. Before the domina can continue, Candi pulls out the next one. Kat accepts that as well and then points over to the corner.
Katalina: You know, love, there's something quite fascinating over there.
Candi's eyes light up and she rushes over to investigate leaving Kat to sigh shaking her head.
Katalina: Sorry, I just mean to get through this. So where was I?
Kat ponders in the time it takes for her to rest her gloves down and nods.
Katalina: Yes. Turning my career around. That's the ultimate dream for me at this event, to begin telling myself that I can tackle the big ones just as much as I can the smaller ones. Losing to the Neon Babes at Nothing Else Matters but defeating Nicole Evans just the other week...it's going to help my motivation in this one. No, Nicole isn't here, but it tells me that losing at a big event doesn't make me a loser completely. Does it? So it has to just be the pressure. This week I intend on conquering said pressure.
Kat nods and then...smiles over the thought of climbing this mountain that, quite honestly, she's only made with the hole she's been digging herself these past few years by losing all these matches. But, pre show or not, it's still going to be a step in the right direction.
Katalina: So, of course, it all brings me first to my opponents. Starting with Jamo. Basically because he was the start of my career here. Well, him and Tristan but he's a little busy on other matters it seems. Jamo. Risking injury. Even you have to know it's foolish to enter into the ring with a weakened leg and me as your opponent. Just think back to our first match, love. Now think back to your match with Ace. Now combine the two.
And you get a whole world of ouch right there.
Katalina: That enough should tell you that sitting this one out is in your best interest. However, you've denied listening to doctors so are you going to listen to your own opposition? I'm sure that a “hell no” would be applicable there. However, think about what you're doing. This is a qualifier match. Meaning there will be more if you succeed in the ring this week. No break, no rest period...if you win the entire thing you'll have two seconds to celebrate before you're taken to the old wrestler's retirement home. Is it worth it? To climb that tree? Grab that fruit before dropping it and watching the ants carry it off?
That's...certainly a way of putting it as Kat shrugs her shoulders.
Katalina: Also, I'm glad to see that heel turn of yours we talked about my first match here has worked out so well for you.
That's just uncalled for is all that is.
Katalina: Then there's Patrick. I haven't properly thanked you for helping to welcome Holly into this company. Even if she hasn't been anything more here since then, you certainly did your job in helping her feel the competition here. You didn't go easy, you treated her as true competition...but with one slight hiccup. An incorrect assumption that maybe you meant as a joke? Oh, it's not that, love, it's something else.
Kat calls out as Candi points to a spot on the wall and looks back. Now seeing she was wrong, Candi goes back to surveying the wall in front of her.
Katalina: I can understand your not knowing of Holly's former promotion, quite frankly I was there as support and still never knew what was going on there. But it's a more global promotion, I do know that. Not that it's an entirely necessary correction, just that I know Holly won't be making it herself.
Indeed. From that one promo, I think Blink's apologized enough throughout the rest of her entire career here.
Katalina: Dustin, even though we've never officially met inside the ring I feel you still owe me the worst punch of them all out of every one of my opponents this week. I promised you...well, you know what I promised you. Suffice to say I couldn't very well hold up my end of the bargain, could I? I'm sure it's something you would better leave unsaid...so I'll leave it between us.
Strife holds up a single finger.
Katalina: So one strike for you, love. This is a match, after all, an important one for me at that. Not the back alley behind a bar. One.
Is that really gonna make up for...it though? Kat can certainly hope.
Katalina: And now to Beatrice, a woman who, admittedly, I know very little of. Unlike the others there hasn't even been any outside connections between us. At least with Patrick we can speak through interactions involving my maid. Dustin comes with...almost said it there. But you, love, you're certainly the enigma of this match for me, aren't you? But,
Kat stretches herself out and shakes her head as Candi hopes in vain on a new spot in the wall. Seeing that once more it isn't, she focuses back ahead of her.
Katalina: In the case of someone like yourself, it might be a good thing as the less I know the better I'm prepared. At least it should seem that way. Your antics won't surprise me, your style won't throw me off. I know it's a lot of “how” presenting scenarios, but...
Candi: I keep looking, Kitty Mistress. I keep looking and looking and looking...is that it? Is it my looking I'm supposed to find?
Katalina: I have my training methods. Yes, love, that's exactly what you were looking for, your looking.
Candi: Yay!!!
Candi throws up her hands in applause as Kat smiles and gives one final look toward the camera.
Katalina: Get used to her celebrating, loves, she'll have reason to after the match.
As Kat reaches out to take hold of the leash, the scene draws out to a close.
However, at times Kat would need to reach out beyond her own measures when it came to running things smoothly.
