I have awoken my true form.
Despite narrowly losing my debut, it is but one step on the road to conquering VOW. Stevenson knows this, and as such he has placed me in a rather interesting situation. I am sitting here in my car in Texas. Texas….I have not been here since my brother’s funeral. I had to come out here though, he called me out. Summoned me if you will. You always head out if he summons.
So here I am.
Still looking at the house as I just stood there, the front door opened. The house was majestic in structure...but then again so was the man that walked outside.
Stevenson: “So glad you came out. Please come in. You know you are welcome here.”
He was slick, but I knew better than turn down the offer, and headed inside even if it was a small bit reluctant. I was growing to enjoy this new side of me, this darker side. I never really got to show this, always under the shadow of others in my family. He led me inside shutting the door as I looked around. Almost like the house of my mentor...almost. This one felt darker, more enjoyable in my opinion. He led us to the kitchen where a lot of food was prepared...and it looked to be his students preparing the meal. We went through the kitchen and into the dining area, the table big to fit twelve people. The end of the table was set, just for the two of us and as he sat down I just stood there. For a moment, he was actually treating me with respect after weeks of not doing that at all. He just looked up at me, reaching for the bottle of wine that was sitting in a chilled bucket of ice.
Stevenson: “You know, I am not as bad as you deem me to be. Please have a seat while the meal is prepared.”
I sat down, just keeping an eye on him. Wine...it did look good. He poured me a glass, and handed it to me. I stared for a moment then took it.
Stevenson: “You know Dazielle, you intrigue me. I never knew you to have such a dark side to yourself like what I saw recently in Carnage.”
Dazi: “You might want to do homework. Have you dove into my past? The beat lurking inside was caged. Now? I get to release her.”
I took a sip of wine, glancing at his evil smirk. I knew he was pleased but to be honest? I was as well.
Stevenson: “From your father and his abuse...in many sick forms to your brother hiding it. To them moving your three thousand miles away from your mother to your mother dying in your arms. To McCoy passing to your nephew passing very recently. In thirty years you darling have been through more than most get to in fifty years.”
Dazi: “They locked her away, the dark soul that hides within me. They expected me ot be that good girl, be the wrestler they wanted me to be. No more however. I ma going ot take my place as the queen. VOW is mine to conquer. It start with a returning Valerie Beasley.”
Stevenson: “They got back with you fast my child.”
A wicked as hell smirk came across my face, and the low chuckle I heard was his sign of approval. He was on my side, I had to start trusting in him somehow. This wine and waiting on food? This was the perfect time, the perfect way to get to know more about him.
After all, he allowed me to bring out the side of me no one knew.
Dazi: “They sure did. After my disappointing loss, they are willing to give me another chance. Chances are not what I need, destruction is what I need. Chaos in that ring is what I need. I barely had that last match. Nothing slips out of my grasp, no more of the meek, quiet Dazielle.”
Stevenson: “We need to hone in on exactly what side of your dark side we would like to unleash. Do we give Valerie the chance to see another match or do we take the brutality up a notch? This is up to you my child.”
Dazi: “VOW is hailing me as the shining newcomer. I was not dubbed the ultra violent queen in Carnage for no reason. I think it is time I show the world in VOW that I can shake up any title scene by brutal means. I take what I want, and you were right on something.”
I looked over quickly to see his curious expression. My words, they were and will be my most powerful weapon. He scratched his chin, curious by my statement. It was true however, and I wanted to prove that his words lately had meant something to me.
Stevenson: “Do share darling.”
Dazi: “Your words have spoken to me, and they have rung true. I need to let go of the old Dazi. The one that befriended everyone and could not stand up for herself. Yo uand Taya Davina have taught me so much over the last two weeks alone. I need to embrace the dark heart within me, need to let that old Dazi go. Embrace this newer, darker Dazi.”
He nodded his head, rubbing his hands, together. That meant he had something that was worth telling me now. He got up from his chair, walking into the room to the side. I took another sip of wine, staring out the window. Was this what McCoy was trying to hide from me? If he was trying, he didn’t do a very good job. He came back with a box. I looked at the box, and I was quite shocked at exactly what was on the box…
Dazi: “This is…”
Stevenson: “This is something that your brother left behind. He told me that when you found your true calling, your true dark heart to give this to you and only then. You have found this, so now this is yours.”
The box was set in front of me. He sat back down. I had heard about this, the necklace of my mother's, the one she called “Ai to Unmei” which meant love and fate. Fate...this was my fate and as the sapphire and peridot necklace sat there when I removed the lid...I was speechless that Ricky would hold on to it knowing how my mother died in my arms. This now meant more than ever that this new side of me could finally come full circle.
Stevenson: “Ashara was hidden when your mother died in your arms from that gunshot wound. Now you have a reason to fuel your hatred for others. A reason to keep winning and become champion. A reason for defeating Valerie as your starting point in VOW. You show the world that this was one death that was not in vain. Start with Valerie and put the roster on notice. We will not be ignored.”
Dazi: “We will take what is ours. Excuse me, I must speak to Valerie and VOW before the meal.”
Stevenson: “Down the hallway, to the right. You tell the world what you will do Dazielle.”
I got up, closing the lid to the wooden carved box. It was now my motivation. I walked away, not seeing the wicked grin that crept along the face of Stevenson as I had found the room. It was not in use, and it was the perfect time. I had a lot to get off my chest. So I turned the camera on...sitting down against the wall and running a hand through my hair.
Dazi: “When victory slips your grasp, you must dig down deep. When you have missed victory over and over and you attempt to keep striving for it? Then that defines your character. I may have missed my victory at Breakthrough Fifty, but fifty one is my first victory in VOW. Who might my opponent be? A returning Valerie Beasley.”
My mind was slowly growing darker, and I smirked wickedly.
Dazi: “Valerie, they have you returning against a monster, I hope you are very aware of this. I hope that studying my tapes will show that I am not afraid of anything. If you do not have tapes, I will have my agent get in touch with you. Simply put here Valerie, I have been through hell and back in life, both in and out of ring. Breakthrough Fifty, that was my start of dominance and it was a loss. No more. You...you will be the first Valerie. You will be the first casualty in my rise to the throne.”
I managed to snake myself up the wall...the loss was starting to push me to the edge. I was tired of losing, in both Carnage and now VOW, even though it was only one match. Losing...it wears on me. I stood upright, taking a deep breath and regaining my composure. It needed to be said, it needed to be done. My reign on the VOW throne needed to start.
Dazi: “Valerie, I hope you study on all of my past matches. The ones where my scars still exist. The external scars are just a small inkling of my internal ones, and those will be unleashed on you. Every punch, kick, scratch you receive from me? I want that as your reminder. You should have stayed away, and the glory of you coming back to VOW will soon be overshadowed by a dark force the likes of which you have not faced. You have never met ultra violence, nor a queen such as myself. One that will go to any means to make sure you are back where you belong...the unemployment line.”
My adrenaline was coursing in my blood, and my wicked smirk turned to a full blown evil grin. I picked up the camera from the table, aiming it at my dark eyes, which had narrowed. My voice was low, my words sharp like a knife.
Dazi: “So Valerie, I hope you are ready to face a beast. I have every intent on making my statement clear. I am the queen, I am violence and I will go to the top. Anyone in my path? They get cut down and put on the shelf, that starts with you Valerie. VOW will now be put on notice. I AM the one you will have to come to and when your final day comes, it will be off with your heads. See you soon Valerie.”
I shut the camera off and took the tape out of it. I was shaky, like I wanted to break down and I heard the door open, not paying attention to whom was next to me. I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I quickly jerked around to see Stevenson. He had probably thought I was longer than I should be, but in reality, my breakdown was imminent. He grabbed the camera before I dropped it, and then he took the tape, handing it off to a student behind him.
Stevenson: “Make sure this gets to VOW headquarters, make sure this gets to the proper people. They need to know.”
A nod and then Stevenson turned around. Tears were wanting to form, for the first time since Miguel’s passing I was breaking down. The one person who was there? The one I thought I could not trust. However one thing was clear.
I needed him in order to continue my path.
