Its the weekend before Breakthrough Edition #9 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. On this Saturday afternoon, the sun is shining and the temperature is mild outside. Inside, the air condition flows throughout the populated book store that our scene opens up in. A long line of dozens & dozens of pro wrestling fans stand single-file at a Barnes & Noble in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The St. Cloud Rainbow Village parking lot is quite busy and mostly for the visitors to Barnes & Noble to get an autograph from pro wrestler PKA. Fans of all ages, colors, shapes and sizes anticipate meeting the Ultraviolent Perfectionist in person. PKA is seated behind the gimmick table. He's got his black and red hair slicked back, and is wearing a blue dress shirt with a black vest over it. He takes a drink from his Starbucks coffee, which is provided within the Barnes & Noble Booksellers store, and he welcomes the next person up to the table. A little girl, accompanied by her mom, gleams with excitement as she hands over a PKA action figure box.
PKA: "Hey there. What's your name?"
The girl just smiles and buries her face in her mom's leg. The mom smiles and replies to PKA.
Mom: "Sorry, she's shy."
PKA: "Shy, that's an interesting name."
Jokingly, PKA goes to write 'To Shy' until the little girl freaks.
Girl: "No no!! Alison is my name!"
PKA laughs.
PKA: "Alison, even better."
He writes a note to her on the box and signs his name before handing it back over to her. She smiles as she reads the box.
Mom: "What do we say?"
Girl: "Thannnnnnnnnk youuuuuuuu.."
The girl buries her face in her mom's side once again, in embarrassment. PKA smiles and tells the girl she's welcome as the next person in line steps up. This time, the fan is a skinny, emo-looking, teenage boy. He proudly hands over his 8x10 of PKA and greets him.
Teen: "Hi, PKA. I'm also named Patrick."
PKA notices the Taking Back Sunday band t-shirt that the teenage boy has on.
PKA: "Great name, dude. Love the shirt, too."
The teen blushes and gets nervous.
Teen: "Heh, heh, yeah man, thank you."
PKA signs the 8x10.
Teen: "Great to see you back on TV. I watched the last pay per view and you were awesome."
PKA: "Hey man, thanks. You come to any Breakthrough shows?"
Teen: "Nah, my dad won't let me go to them. He doesn't like wrestling. He says its gay."
PKA rolls his eyes.
PKA: "He'd be Brett Carson's biggest fan, then."
The teen nervously laughs and flicks his black hair out of his eyes. Of course, it just falls right back in place after he does that.
PKA: "How old are you?"
Teen: "Seventeen. I turn eighteen in a month."
PKA: "Listen, don't let your dad's words stop you. Wrestling isn't "gay" and if you like it, then like it. You'll find a way to get to a show, I'm sure of it. You on Twitter?"
Teen: "Yeah, I am."
PKA: "Good.. tweet me when you turn 18."
Teen: "Sweet, I will. Thanks PKA!"
The teen shakes PKA's hand and heads off. PKA takes a drink from his coffee as a short, skinny, tanned brunette steps up to the table. In PKA's mind, he's thinking about all of the things he'd love to do with her - mostly things involving no clothes. She smiles and winks as she hands over an 8x10 and she softly speaks.
Lady: "Name's Kim."
PKA: "Very nice to meet you, Kim."
He checks out her exposed midrift from her cut-off t-shirt. Don't think he doesn't notice her hips, too. PKA signs the 8x10.
Kim: "I love watching you every single week. I can't wait to see you win the Xcel Title."
He raises an eyebrow as he hands the 8x10 back to her.
PKA: "Wow. Its not every day a pretty girl takes interest in wrestling."
Kim: "Hun, when YOU'RE wrestling, I watch. Win or lose, I'll love every..bit .. of it."
She pulls her pocketbook out of her purse and retrieves what looks to be a business card. Kim hands it over to PKA and she blows a kiss.
Kim: "Call me sometime. Maybe we can ...talk more... about what I love watching you do."
She leaves the table and PKA examines the business card, and indeed, there is a phone number on it. He puts it in his pocket as the next fan comes up to the table. Fade...

Later that day, around 5pm, PKA is seen in his hotel room, peering out the large window that gives him a view of the city. With his hands in his blue jean pockets, he thinks not only about his upcoming match with Reya Serra, but the fans he met earlier at the signing, as well as that one special fan - Kim - whom he plans to call in the near future. He turns to the camera and speaks.
PKA: "So the world wants to know what my thoughts are on my match against Reya Serra on the 30th? I'll tell ya. Reya, hi. We've met in the ring one time prior to this, and that was at Breakthrough 4 on June 10th. It was the first ever Triangle Match in V.O.W. and it involved that piece of scum known as Brett Carson. In that match, if you recall, there was - sadly - a little interference, but you're looking at a man who misses no opportunity to capitalize and gain a victory. Did I agree with that interference? Of course not. But did it win me the fall against you? No. The Blockbuster won me the pinfall victory over you. It was on that night that I, for the first time ever, beat anyone with that move. So let's see here. First time we faced. First time I won a match with The Blockbuster. First Triangle Match in V.O.W. Now, here we are, a month and a half later in our first ever one on one match. Last week on Breakthrough, I defeated Brett Carson in a first round Xcel Title Tournament match. This week, I'll do the same when we face off and I will move on to the Finals and ultimately become the first ever Xcel Champion in Visionaries of Wrestling."
PKA rubs his hands together and nods his head, dreaming of one day having gold around his waist.
PKA: "Its been since April that I've had championship gold around my waist, but I threw all of that away because I was irresponsible and ill-prepared to carry that title. A month later, I joined V.O.W., and after two months of pushing myself to the limits, I can tell you I'm ready to hold gold."
He clears his throat and has a seat on the edge of the bed.
PKA: "Reya, you're a great wrestler, don't get me wrong, but you and I know that what's happened here is a Grade A Travesty. You shouldn't even BE in this tournament. You lost last week on Breakthrough, and your little crazy sister won her match. So then she drops out and gives you her spot? How in the hell does that even work? Stefan Frei says "that truly is a shame" that Vanessa doesn't want to compete in the tournament. Tough shit. Guess that means I get a by-week, right? Apparently not. I applaud your efforts to refuse this spot, Reya. You're right. You have NO right being in this tournament after losing. Yet you are. And low and behold, you're facing me. Gee, this is very fishy, is it not? Who's pulling the strings around here? Maybe I'll call up the homie Hugo Strange and just give him my spot in this tournament. We're like bros! Hell, V-Owwww seems to want Mr. Rottentreats in the company bad enough. I bet they'd LOVE if I called him up if I were to lose and suddenly he'd have a spot. That's how it works, right? We can just hand 'em out, right? You get a title shot! You get a title shot! You get a title shot! Its like fucking Oprah, hot and sweaty, and damn confusing."
PKA makes a disgusted face, scowling at the thought of the tongue-in-cheek remark he just made. Speaking of tongue in cheeks, how'd you like to put your tongue in Oprah's cheeks? Moving along.
PKA: "August 6th can't come soon enough. On that night, you better bring a few extra bottles of water, because an Ultraviolent Heatstroke is going to take place when I become the first ever V.O.W. Xcel Champion. I will cement my name in the record books of Visionaries of Wrestling by becoming their first champion in history. And I will had done it without cheating, without lobbying for a replacement spot, and without taking short cuts. The only cuts taken are the ones from the barbed wire, the fluorescent light tubes, the glass, the forks, the blades, etcetera .......ET--cetera.. Reya.. Serra.. do you want to bleed? Do you want it bad enough to put your skin and beauty on the chopping block? Careful, you might lose a finger if you don't tread lightly. What do I have to do in order to get it through everyone's skull that I'm not here to mess around? I'm not here to play games with the powers that be. I'm not here to play hide and go seek with my little sister. I'm not here to look into the depths of Hell with Death, nor am I here to talk about how God hates Fa... well, you get the idea. I'm not here for any of that nonsense and anything else I left out. The one thing I am here for is pro wrestling. Pro wrestling is going to lead me to the spot that I know I truly deserve and the spot that I know that one day I will achieve. The Xcel Title is going to be mine, and I'll get it by being the best damn pro wrestler in V...O..W.. and you can bet your ass on that one."
PKA's phone vibrates on the glass end-table. He picks it up and checks out the screen and sees that it is his longtime friend and business partner, Joey Matthew, calling. He answers the phone.
PKA: "Broey, what up!"
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Just about to hit the gym actually."
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Nah, I'm already in Minnesota. Why, what's up?"
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Well how about this - I should be back in town on Thursday. But knowing Reya Serra, I'm in for quite the match, so let's do lunch on Friday?"
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Hell yeah she's tough. You brought her in to WARPED for that very reason. You saw what she did against Hugo. Talented muh-fucka!"
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Well yeah, Xcel Title is the name. I'm really hoping to pick up the win. You know how hard I've worked to make this comeback in wrestling. I searched long and hard for the right place, and I chose Visionaries out of all of the rest."
Joey: "..."
PKA: "You don't have to tell me about the risks I took by signing up for a new company."
Joey: "..."
PKA: "Good, for the most part. But you know what really pisses me off is - "
PKA takes the phone away from his ear and looks at the screen. It appears that he's getting another phone call.
PKA: "Hey, I'm getting another call. I'll call you back."
Joey: "..."
They end their call and PKA clicks over to answer the unknown number calling him, but there's nobody there. He wonders who that was and waits a few moments for a voicemail. PKA shrugs and puts the phone in his pocket. He grabs his gym bag and heads out the front door as the scene fades.
[=========================================================]
The lovely, calming sounds of a music box can be heard echoing throughout the room, where ever we may be, but its more eerie than normal due to the fact that the room is completely dark. The sound of a chair scraping the floor is heard, followed by the creak of the chair from someone sitting on it. Based on the scene from earlier, with a carpeted hotel room floor, we're no longer in PKA's hotel room for this scene. Suddenly, the shine of a flashlight presents the wall of the room which is covered in 8x10 pictures of VOW Superstars. From left to right, the flashlight slowly pans. We see photos of Rayne Draven-Omega, Cera, Mr. E, Starrkadian, Reya Sera, Brett Carson, Matt Rydell, Casanova English, Death, Hugo Strange, Stacy Jones, Vanessa, and PKA. The flashlight pans left again, showing off all of the superstars. The flashlight lowers and shows even more photos below the first list, including Patrick Jones, Ziu Zhong, Maxwell Soloke, Daniel Kennedy, etc. There are photos of every single VOW Superstar on the wall. The voice of PKA is then heard as he speaks in a low, raspy, monotonous voice.
PKA: "There are many wrestling talents in Visionaries of Wrestling. Some are up and comers, some been in the game for a couple years, and some are crafty veterans that know almost, if not for certain, every tactic and strategy of how to play 'the game'. Every once and a while, one of those up and comers surpasses all odds and pulls off an upset win, but then again at other times they get clobbered, and learn a big time lesson that they need to improve their game."
The camera stays fixated on the wall covered in VOW Superstars as PKA continues to speak, this time a bit louder, and with more meaning.
PKA: "The people who are in between are those who aren't sure where they are at at that point in their career, those who are either confused, or so sure of themselves that its pitiful. They don't always get what they want, but they don't exactly always fall short either. There are veterans who think they know it all but are too old-timey to realize that they're living in the past and haven't quite caught up to the present."
The flashlight pans to the far left to stop at PKA's 8x10 picture on the wall. The creeking sound of the chair being lifted and repositioned is heard, and the flashlight disappears for a moment. Then, the light comes back on, as we see PKA seated backwards in the chair, his arms rested on the top of the back of the chair. He holds the flashlight away from his face, so that all we see is his face and his 8x10 on the wall behind him.
PKA: "Where do I fall in all of this? Well, I've been in the business for almost thirteen years. I'm absolutely not an up and comer. I'm no rookie. But in Visionaries of Wrestling, we're all up and comers in a way. I'd consider myself a pro at this. I'm one of the veterans that is ever changing, ever evolving, and always trying to out-do my previous performance. I'm aware that this company is still in its infant stage, and big-timing people won't get me anywhere. That's why I'm humble enough to admit that I'm nowhere near the best, but dammit, I'll go out there and show you why my fans think I am. See, V.O.W. is home to a plethora of talent. Reya Serra just happens to be one of those talented performers in this company. She's not an up and comer. She's not an old time veteran. She's kind of in the middle with me. And that's why when we face off at Breakthrough in the Xcel Title Tournament Semi-Finals Match, we're going to put it all on the line. I say that, knowing of course, that I could be full of shit. Reya could botch the entire thing and decide that she doesn't want to be in this match that her sister handed over to her. I'm not quite sure why Vanessa would do such a thing, especially when she has a win over me in my first match here, but she did just that. So Reya, on July 30th, just like all of the weeks before, many of the top up and comers, in-betweens, and veteran superstars in pro wrestling will compete on Breakthrough. We all go in hoping to win. I could use a ray of hope, to be perfectly honest. I hope I am the winner and I hope I am the man that every talks about at the end of everything, but you know what? I'm going to set hope aside, and use what brought me to the game in the first place - heart. And as long as my heart is beating the same crimson blood that flows from my skin when I'm cut and beaten from you trying to kill me and end my career, you'll look across the ring at me standing tall, not giving up, not letting down, never saying die. Reya, you said it yourself recently, I'm just a little....warped."
PKA stands up and the chair is heard crashing to the floor. The flashlight shakes and shows the concrete floor as PKA walks away from his previous position. Suddenly the lights come on and PKA is shown at the entrance of the locker room he and his comrades will be sharing at Breakthrough. His hand leaves the light switch and digs out a razor from his pocket. He smiles and kisses the razor as he approaches the pictures on the wall. From left to right, he drags the razor across every single picture until the bottom half of the photos fall to the floor, leaving only the head-shots on the wall. He stops at his own picture, and then looks down at the many bodies on the floor. He looks back at the faces on the wall, and begins individually slicing them up with the blade until only pieces of them stay on the wall, only thanks to the scotch tape that was keeping them there in the first place. PKA pulls his photo off the wall and kicks the pieces of ripped up superstars together into a pile. He places his picture on top and smiles.
PKA: "I hope you bring your best, because when its all said and done, I'll be the one that EXCELS more than everybody else."
PKA heads to the door and turns off the lights. Complete returns as the scene ends.
