There Will Be Blood
Never did I think that it would come to this. Granted, the encounters between Cera and I in the squared circle are well documented but when she dragged me into the office of Sky Sangue I had no idea that this particular stipulation would be put in place for our mutually desired rematch.
Cera, for quite possibly the first time in her life, has to play by the rules or risk being disqualified. This works in my favor, but as I already know, she can be incredibly formidable without resorting to underhanded tactics.
I, on the other hand, have not only been given free reign to do as I please to my twin sister but it is encouraged that I make her bleed.
Not just encouraged, even. I must shed her blood at Armed and Dangerous, shed our blood…
“Hit me!” my friend Paxar barks at me as we stand in the middle of a ring inside a wrestling training center with me holding a steel chair over my head.
“I cannot do this,” I tell her in response, shaking my head in dismay as I lower the chair. “I cannot in good conscience hit you with this weapon. I could potentially injure you.”
“I want you to, Reya,” Paxar contends with a hint of frustration. “I want you to hit me with it as hard as you can, slamming the metal into my skull and busting me open…”
“You are my friend, Paxar. Regardless of your efforts to help me in my preparation for this match, I cannot,” I say to her as I take the chair and set it against the ropes. “I simply cannot.”
“I don’t see why you can’t,” Paxar snaps back angrily. “How is this any different from what you’re going to face at Armed and Dangerous? I want you to make me bleed, just like Cera wants you to make her bleed. You don’t think she didn’t have something to do with Sky coming up with this stip? She knows you and she knows exactly how you feel about situations like this.”
“So do you,” I remind her bluntly. “You know that I refuse to go out of my way to harm people with weaponry and to make them bleed yet here you are wanting me to harm you, just as Sky Sangue wants me to harm Cera, just as perhaps Cera even wants me to harm her...I cannot. I will not.”
“Then you’ve already lost,” Paxar declares, throwing her hands up in the air. “Don’t you get it? You have to make her bleed to win. A pin or a submission just isn’t going to cut it against her this time.”
“A victory won at the cost of not only principles that I hold dear, but also at the cost of harming my very own twin sister,” I state seriously. “That is no victory for me, but rather one for those that have sought for years to see me stoop to their level, to see me become tainted…”
Looking away from her for a moment, I let out a deep sigh and shake my head. “What other choice do you have?” Paxar questions. “Defying Sky? You’ll be suspended, fined, maybe even worse…”
“Then so be it,” I tell her adamantly.
Her face turning red Paxar moves towards me and gives me an angry shove while growling loudly. Taken aback slightly, I stare seriously at her as she shoves me again.
“So be it? SO BE IT!?” Paxar shouts at me furiously.
“Do not shove me,” I warn her as I take a step back, but Paxar does not heed my warning and shoves me a third time.
“Or what?” Paxar asks as she moves closer again. “You’re going to tell my mommy? You’re going to back down and hide behind your precious rules and commandments and principles? Huh? HUH!? ANSWER ME!?”
My cheeks start turning a dark shade of red as she continues pushing me closer and closer to the ropes. Finally, having had enough, I take a step back from her and hit her with a stiff kick to her face sending her to the canvas. There is a moment of silence between us as Paxar clutches her jaw and I stare down at her.
“OW!” she exclaims loudly and she glares up at me.
“I told you not to shove me,” I remind her. Beginning to feel remorse for my action, I step towards her and take a knee. “Are you alright?”
“You kick hard, but I’ll live,” Paxar answers with a slight nod before pointing out the slight amount of blood that has trickled down her lip. “Looks like despite your protests we achieved the goal of this exercise at least.”
“For which I apologize,” I say to her as I help her back to her feet. “I should have restrained myself.”
“No, you did exactly what I wanted you to do, Reya,” Paxar states. “Exactly what I want you to do in the ring with Cera. You won’t use weapons to make her bleed? Fine. All of that hurt and anger you’ve felt because of her these last several months? It’s time to let that out, to let your feet and fists do what you won’t do with a steel chair. It’s time to make her bleed.”
An eye for an eye.
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.
I am not a vengeful woman. I have no desire to exact vengeance upon my sister Cera. If I did I would be more than happy to use any and all weapons available to me to cause her harm after everything she has put me through both over the years as well as more recently.
I do not wish to harm her. I truly do not despite the stipulations of our match as handed down by Sky Sangue. When I step into the ring with her at Armed and Dangerous, I only seek to remind Cera that though I may be the meek and the unthreatening Janason sister to those that oppose me that I am a force to be reckoned with, an opponent every bit as formidable as Vanessa or herself.
I love Cera. Despite all that we have been through, I love her with all of my heart. Despite the outcome of this match, I will still continue to love her. That will never change no matter what she may do to me or those that I care about. Nevertheless, it saddens me that the reminder of how powerful I truly am must come with familial bloodshed in order for me to secure victory. But if that is how it must be, if that is the will of the Lord, then so be it.
So be it.
