And baby we’ll stack our cabins with Lincoln Logs. Lincoln Logs will make them sturdy. Lincoln Logs will ignite a fire....
Coming back through the curtain, I felt the bittersweet sensation of what just transpired back in the ring.
“Bruce... I understand you came out for a match tonight. However, if Fin Tolson couldn’t get his visas in order... I can’t hold myself liable for allowing him to compete on the show illegally.”
The stern but understanding Stefan Frei crossed his arms. The CEO was one with the power stance. A nervous giggle escapes my lips as the thought of Jack Black’s power stance crept across my mind.
“But Mistah Frei,” Jackie asked with the faintest hint of flair, “What do you mean you wanted to pair Brucie up with a loser tonight???”
Frei simply pinched the bridge of his nose between his rugged thumb and forefinger.
“As long as Visionaries go out and compete, put on a show... They are not losers... Let’s get this one straight, Jack. The thing is... I want what looks like a balanced team to challenge the Gang Stars.... So... Bruce... Now that it’s just back here between us...”
Stefan guides myself and and Jackie down a narrow corridor away from the hustle and bustle of ring crew and backstage directors.
“...Out of all the matches that were listed on the dry erase board by the curtain. Was there one that you saw.. Where you could see yourself teaming with either man... or woman?”
So many matches to choose from.. I’d love the opportunity to tag with Keisha Britely... but she’s in a tag match tonight... And I don’t want to insult Mr. Frei’s intelligence... I see one with two impressive veterans and decided that the match I’ll pick.
“Stewie and Michaels....”
“Josh Stewart and Chase Michaels? You got it, Bruce. Whichever man is not victorious tonight... That man will be your tag partner at Double Jeopardy.”
With those words and a shake of mine and my brother’s hands, The CEO of VoW departed our presence.
“Brucie, two veterans... Who you want to tag with you?”
“Hmmm... I’d reckon Josh Stewart would balance out my lack of years in the bizness.”
“So you think he’ll win?”
“Nah, Jackie... Chase Michaels’ll win... I hear he’s hungry like The Wolf.”
I start swaying my pelvis in every which way as Keisha Britely walks by.
“Jackie... How can I sit here and not make a move on that lovely lady.”
“She does have that backside like two Christmas hams if you know what I’m sayin’... Dig?”
If only a poor little country boy like myself could appeal to the suave city stylings of Ms. Britely. She’s beautiful... She’s sultry... She pinned my shoulders to the mat... And if only I could get her to pin them to a mattress...
“Brucie baby, you daydreaming again? Stop it... We got business to discuss... Like Chase Michaels and Josh Stewart.”
“Did somebody say my name?”
Jackie sucked his lips shut as the veteran with jet black hair and a blonde streak walked by... “American Dragon” Josh Stewart.
“Oh... we’re just interested in what you plan to do in your match tonight,” I pipe up. “We’d reckon it would be a great contest of two veterans.”
“Thanks for the words, man. I was just dropping some Lincoln Logs in the pooper. How’d your match with Tolson go. From what I’ve seen the dude is mad massive.”
I shrug. “Never had it. Something about him losing his passport or not getting his entertainment visas in order... I have no clue. But needless to say... He didn’t show up.”
Stewie puts his hand on my shoulder and smiles.
“It’s okay, Bruce man. Look, keep your head up. Your luck is bound to change sooner or later.”
“You think, Stewie?” The compliment perked my head up.
“Yeah, man for real... Now with that said... I should get ready for my match. Take it easy, Bruce...”
“Take care, buddy.”
Josh Stewart heads back towards the locker rooms as Jackie starts tapping his watch.
“PJ’s birthday bash... Did you forget? You need to rehearse for that shit, Brucie baby...”
“Nooo.... I left my geeetar back at the hotel... You got the keys to the Sedan De Ville?”
“Yeah...”
“Well let’s go get her!”
