Artemis Kaiser Vs. Constance Chapin
As the feed returns to ringside, fans at home are presented with a view of the announce table, where the usual team of Ruby Parvati and Axel Reid has been joined by a third member: a middle-aged blonde woman, clad in a garish canary-yellow skirt suit. She gives the camera a fleeting smirk as Ruby does the honours:
Ruby Parvati: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome at this time, my personal friend, and one-half of the Girl Power Wrestling commentary team...Kerry Buckingham. How are you, Kerry?
Kerry Buckingham: I am quite well, darling, thank you.
Kerry smiles brightly at Ruby, as the the latter once again turns to the camera:
Ruby Parvati: Kerry has kindly flown in from London to join us here tonight and commentate on the upcoming match, a showcase showdown between two of GPW's brightest shining stars...
Kerry Buckingham: ...yes, and the moment it is done, I shall be flying back to London! Really! And I thought GPW going to Manchester was a poor choice of location!
Axel Reid, who has so far been ignored by both women, tries to intervene at this point, only for his partner to turn on him:
Ruby Parvati: Oh, shut up, Axel! You know Kerry's right! Nobody deserves to have to come to Belfast!
Kerry Buckingham: ...quite right! Well said, Ruby darling!
Seeing that this is a fight he cannot win, Axel Reid gives up the ghost, simply lamenting:
Axel Reid: Unfortunately, Ms Buckingham's partner, Ms LaTour, was unable to join us this evening due to prior engagements in New York...
Ruby Parvati: That's just what she told you, Axel. The real reason she's not here is that nobody likes you!
Ruby and Kerry's mean giggle at Axel's expense is, however, interrupted when a theme song starts up on the arena's PA system...
Ain't you getting bored with these fake ass broads
I shows and proves, no doubt, how predictably so
Please excuse, if I come across rude
That's just me
As the beat plays and the rhymes flow, the crowd starts to cheer as from behind the curtain comes the apathetic hipster herself, Constance Chapin. By her side is fiancee and self-appointed 'manager', Emily Darcy, clad in a sparkly black blazer, sporting bright-red lipstick, and carrying what appears to be a cane of some type. Constance is clearly mortified to be seen in Emily's company as the two begin to make their way to ringside.
Axel Reid: And here comes the first of our two competitors, the former GPW World Champion, Constance Chapin! And who is that by her side, Ms Buckingham, do you know?
Kerry Buckingham: Oh, that's her wife, or her bride, or some such nonsense. The real question is, what on Earth is she wearing!? Good gracious! She looks like she belongs in a circus!
Constance walks toward the ring, making no rush to get there and making no acknowledgements towards the crowd (and especially not towards Emily). Her steps are quicker than before, moving in time to the beat; she'd be toe tapping if it wasn't such a tacky thing to do. Still she walks close to the sides, letting eager fans pat her on the shoulder or arm as she walks past them. Emily, on the other hand, seemingly relishes the attention of the crowd, as she opens her arms wide and asks them to cheer for herself and her partner. This does, finally, warrant her an elbow to the ribs from Constance. Emily shoots her fiancee a baleful look, but tones down her antics as the two approach the squared circle.
Jerry Heisenberg: Ladies and gentlemen, the following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is a Girl Power Wrestling showcase match! Approaching the ring, from Manchester, England, weighing 148 pounds, and accompanied by Emily Darcy...she is the final GPW World Champion...CONSTANCE! CHAPIN!!!
Arriving at the ring, Constance takes the steps and then steps into the ring by going through the top and middle ropes. Inside the ring as the announcer is introducing her, Constance removes a pair of black finger-less gloves that are tucked into the waist of her bottoms and slips them on, preparing herself. Meanwhile, Emily takes her place at ringside, where she continues to ask the crowd for support for her fiancee.
Axel Reid: What do you make of Constance Chapin, ladies? She comes highly touted...
Kerry Buckingham: 'Highly touted'...ha! She is a fluke! Had Ronnie not allowed her to win, she would have never had her precious belt!
Ruby Parvati: ...'Ronnie?'
Kerry Buckingham: A friend of mine, dear.
Despite being outnumbered, Axel puts up a valiant fight:
Axel Reid: Actually, that is not entirely true. According to my research, Constance and Veronica Valiant were only two of the participants in the GPW World Championship Submission Sma--
Both Women: BE QUIET, AXEL!!
Understanding, yet again, that he is fighting a losing battle, Reid does indeed go quiet – and not a moment too soon, as anything he might have said would have been drowned out by the bombastic voice just coming through the Odyssey Arena's speakers:
The abrupt and rough riff of "Sonne" by Rammstein echoes throughout the arena. The lights in the arena begin to die down, casting darkness over the crowd. The sounds of thunder and lightning pick up and the lighting reflects that. The loud riff comes to an end and silence falls over. The crowd resonate their respect for the woman who is coming out as the countdown begins.
"ᴇɪɴs, ᴢᴡᴇɪ, ᴅʀᴇɪ, ᴠɪᴇʀ, ғᴜɴғ, sᴇᴄʜs, sɪᴇʙᴇɴ, ᴀᴄʜᴛ, ɴᴏɪɴ, ᴀᴜs."
As "Aus" is said, Artemis Kaiser makes her way from the back. Her face is hidden by a shadow cast by her Greg Jackson hoodie. She is followed by three men, holding up flags. The man on the farthest left holds up a Canadian flag. The man on the farthest right holds up a forest green flag that bears in white "PARAGON BJJ". Finally, the man in the center holds up proudly a black flag with "KAISER" etched in bold, robust lettering. Artemis stretches a bit, before removing the hood. Artemis' face bears eye black as she glares down the crowd. She soaks in their hatred, faintly grinning as the crowd chants obscenities.
The three men begin to march their way down the ramp, followed by Artemis. Artemis does not respond to the fans as she gets close to them, somewhat mocking their contempt. As she reaches the center of the ramp, Aldrige makes the call. Knowing that he is about to, Artemis stops, lowering her head. It is as if she locked herself away in her thoughts for a moment, removing herself from reality. The three men still hold their flags up in silent pride.
"Eɪɴs!"
"Hɪᴇʀ ᴋᴏᴍᴍᴛ ᴅɪᴇ Sᴏɴɴᴇ."
The fans yell out the lyrics to the song as Artemis makes her way down the ramp. The march is proud, signified by Artemis’ stunning silence and trance-like state. She stops on the ramp, lowering her head to the ground. Heisenberg steps forward to make the call. Artemis locks herself in her own thoughts, awaiting the call. The three men stop, surrounding Artemis slightly, eyeing only the ring.
Jerry Heisenberg: Making her way down to the ring, weighing in at 123 pounds, fighting out of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada, she is the GOD OF ANGER, ARTEMIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSS KAAAAAAAAAAAAISEEEEEEEEER!
Artemis raises her head, roaring out a cry of fury and war. She continues to pump herself up as she makes her way to the end of the ramp. In a choreographed fashion, the three men separate, allowing Artemis through. She unzips her jacket and acts as if she was about to throw it into the crowd, but instead hands it off to the man holding the Canadian flag. In exchange for the hoodie, she takes the flag. She then gives a vain look to the audience again, before leaping onto the ring apron.
She spreads out the flag, showing her pride in her country and his disdain towards America. She wraps the flag around her shoulders momentarily before entering the ring. She methodically walks around the ring with the flag spread out, establishing her presence. As she concludes her preparations, she leans in her corner, holding the Canadian flag close to her form. She then awaits for the match to begin.
Axel Reid: And there we see Artemis Kaiser. No introductions necessary! She made herself known well enough to VoW fans with her surprise appearance at Armed and Dangerous, in which she called out every single Champion in our company!
Ruby Parvati: ...yes, who does she think she is, challenging Cass and Ryder?! What nerve!
Kerry Buckingham: Oh, that's par for the course, dear. What's more, she's a traitor! Just wait until I tell you about...
Axel Reid, interrupting: ...and Artemis Kaiser is of course also known to our viewers for having been one of two GPW contestants to appear in the Main Event of VoW Fate of The Gods. On the night, Artemis, along with World Visionary Champion Casanova English, obtained a win over then-GPW World Champion Gaia Galanos and Xcel Championship contender Stacy Jones...
Ruby Parvati: ...one of many defeats in Stacy's #NoFearNoNegativityNoWins World Tour!
Kerry Buckingham, delighted: Darling! You didn't tell me you spoke in hashtags too!
As the two friends banter, in the ring, Artemis Kaiser motions to offer Constance Chapin a handshake. Though initially wary – perhaps out of familiarity with her opponent – the Brit eventually acquiesces, and the two competitors shake hands, drawing a cheer from the Belfast crowd. A moment later, the bell rings, and the two begin to circle one another.
Axel Reid: We would like to remind our viewers that, despite having the two top GPW singles Champions in the ring right now, this contest will not be for any GPW-sanctioned title, but rather an exhibition match between these two women.
Kerry Buckingham: ...is he always this obvious?!
Ruby Parvati: You have no idea...
Kerry Buckingham: Oh, I do, dear. Cheryl was the same way...
As the two announcers have some more fun at Reid's expense, in the ring, Artemis and Constance trade reversals. The former World Champion was the first to go on offence, but Artemis managed to escape and slip behind, setting up a suplex. Before she can capitalise, however, it is Constance's turn to slip her grasp, reversing into a suplex position of her own. Artemis connects with an elbow to the Brit's jaw, but is unable to avoid getting caught in a wristlock by Constance. The Mancunian then swiftly transitions this into an arm wringer, which makes Artemis wince in pain. Meanwhile, up in the stands, the Northern Irish fans voice their approval for the sequence they just witnessed!
Axel Reid: Constance Chapin seeking to wear down Artemis' arms early on – a smart strategy, considering how much of her offence depends on the use of her arms...
Working on Artemis's arm does indeed seem to be Constance's intention, as she quickly brings the 'Champ For Life' down and applies an armbar on the arm she had been twisting. Artemis, who was already on one knee from the arm wringer, falls all the way down to the mat, but is able to avoid further damage to her limb by reaching for the ropes, which are only just close enough for her to touch. The referee promptly comes over and begins the standard five-count, with Constance releasing Artemis' arm at 'THREE!' The Brit then takes a step back as her opponent recovers.
Ruby Parvati: I will never understand why some wrestlers give up control like that. Sure, you only have five seconds, but you can use all five of them!
Kerry Buckingham: Most wrestlers are not all that intelligent, if I'm honest, dear. They can't all be like you and me...most of them are more like your friend here...
Axel, for once, does not accuse the touch, merely proceeding with commentary as the two women start over.
Despite having relinquished her hold on her opponent, Constance is still quickest to the mark, bringing Artemis away from the ropes and hitting an atomic drop. As 'The Champ For Life' stumbles about, she then quickly connects with a crisp German suplex, throwing Artemis overhead. The fans cheer as the former GPW West Coast Champion rolls through to her feet, only to get floored by a clothesline from Constance!
Axel Reid: Constance Chapin is showing her credentials here, early on, as Artemis gets caught in the back foot.
Seeing her opponent is down yet again, Constance coolly drops down and once again traps her opponent's arm in a Fujiwara armbar. Artemis grimaces in pain, but refuses to tap, continuing to struggle against the pressure being applied to her limb. Constance, however, is making good on her submission credentials, and has Artemis in all kinds of trouble.
Axel Reid: Artemis Kaiser is in trouble here, as Constance Chapin seems to have brought a very clear-cut gameplan into this matchup!
That is, indeed, the case, but despite her predicament, 'The Champ For Life' refuses to quit, and continues to try and find a way to subvert the armbar. Attempting to shift her position is not really an option, but Artemis finds her salvation comes from elsewhere – namely, the set of ropes directly behind her, which proves to be just close enough for her to drape a foot over. The referee spots this, and comes running up, telling Constance Chapin to break the hold. The Brit initially reacts with confusion, not understanding why she must release it, but when the referee indicates Kaiser's foot on the ropes, she lets go and returns to a vertical position, rolling her eyes. She then has a somewhat mocking, 'after you' type gesture, directed at Artemis, which brings about the first Artemis Death Glare of the former Champion's VoW career.
Ruby Parvati: Why do I feel like Charity just made a mistake there?
Axel Reid: Constance.
Ruby Parvati: Whatever her name is. She done goofed!
Ruby proves to have a point, as the moment Artemis is back on her feet, she makes a beeline for Constance, her eyes cold with silent fury. The Mancunian makes an attempt at defending herself, but gets caught with a flying side kick for her troubles!
Axel Reid: What a kick from Artemis Kaiser, throwing Constance out of the ring! She calls that the Enter the Dragon kick, in a tribute to Bruce Lee!
Ruby Parvati: Nobody cares, Axel. Just call the match! Kerry, your nails are fabulous...
Kerry Buckingham: Thank you, dear...I had them done in Chelsea...
As Axel lets out an audible sigh, Artemis has slipped through the ropes and gone after Constance on the outside. The Brit is recovering from the kick, with the help of her fiancee, but a second Artemis Death Glare causes Emily to back off, leaving ample space for the Champ for Life to snap suplex her opponent on the floor. Constance lands on her back and rolls around, writhing, but Artemis does not give her a chance to recover, instead bringing her to her feet and suplexing her onto the apron. As Constance bounces off, she gets caught in a picture-perfect backbreaker! The fans cheer as Artemis rolls back into the ring, breaking the count for herself, though not for Constance.
FOUR!
FIVE!
At 'five', Constance – again with the help of Emily – begins to stir, eventually regaining a vertical position. Seeing this, Artemis is quick to react, vaulting over the ropes with a corkscrew plancha onto the two women on the outside!
Axel Reid: WHAT A MOVE from Artemis!
Ruby Parvati: ...why, though?! She could have just won by count-out!
Axel Reid: That's not how Artemis operates, Ruby!
Kerry Buckingham: He's right, for once, dear. The girl is not exceedingly intelligent. Her choice of friends is a perfect example of that.
Ruby Parvati: And now, she may have just handicapped herself with that move!
Kerry Buckingham: ...only goes to show you, dear.
Indeed, all three women are now writhing on the floor, as the referee continues his count.
SIX!
SEVEN!
At 'eight', Artemis finally stirs, bringing herself to her feet with the help of the barricade. She then grabs the still-downed Constance by the hair and rolls her into the ring, following suit just in the nick of time to avoid the double count-out. The fans applaud 'The Champ For Life''s decision, though Ruby is baffled:
Ruby Parvati: ...but...she could have won by count-out! What was she thinking?!
Kerry Buckingham: Like I said, dear. Not the most intelligent competitor.
Axel Reid: Or maybe she just didn't want to end a showcase match against the former World Champion the cheap way. Maybe she wants to try and beat Constance properly!
Ruby Parvati: ...which, again, is dumb.
Dumb or not, the fact remains – both Artemis and Constance are now back inside the ring, and it is now 'The Champ For Life''s turn to try and submit her opponent. The submission of choice, in this case, is an ankle lock, which Artemis grapevines for added effect.
Axel Reid: Artemis is apparently not without a game plan herself here...Constance's signature arsenal makes heavy use of the leg, and that is therefore being targeted by The Champ For Life at the moment, to great effect!
Indeed, Artemis has Constance right where she wants her at the moment, and though the former World Champion tries to use her height and weight advantage to escape the hold, the smaller woman's grapevine makes it difficult. The ropes therefore prove, yet again, to be one of the competitor's best hope, as Constance begins to stretch towards the nearest set.
Axel Reid: Constance Chapin seeking to reach for the ropes and break Artemis Kaiser's hold...will she be able to escape here?
The fans certainly seem to hope so, as they have definitely gotten behind both competitors. On the outside, a recovered Emily asks for support for her fiancee, and gets it, joining in herself as she encourages Constance not to give up.
Kerry Buckingham: Why, how touching! Such a shame that it will be for naught!
Axel Reid: Gotten behind Artemis, have you, Ms Buckingham?
Kerry Buckingham: Don't be ridiculous! I don't like either of them! It's just that the quicker this...erm...match ends, the quicker I can return to London and leave this wretched city behind!
Axel Reid: Well...sorry to disappoint...
In fact, as the announcers bantered, Constance has managed to do just enough to reach the ropes, bringing the referee over. Unlike her opponent, however, Artemis leaves the hold locked in until the last second, only releasing it when she absolutely has to.
Ruby Parvati: See? Artemis knows how it's done. She does have some brains after all!
As the referee tells Artemis to create separation, a groggy Constance takes the opportunity to regain a vertical position, encouraged all the while by Emily. No sooner has she fully returned to her feet, however, that she finds herself being swept off them yet again, as Artemis lunges forward and catches her in a cloverleaf! The Champ For Life then begins attempting to drag Constance to the centre of the ring, but the Mancunian reacts quicker, lunging for the ropes before her opponent has a chance to turn her over. Once again, Artemis keeps the hold locked in until the last minute, milking all that she can out of her failed attempt.
Axel Reid: Artemis's attempt not quite working out in this instance...but it is clear that she has managed to even the odds after that strong start from Constance!
Indeed, as the World Champion returns to her feet after yet another leg submission attempt, she is feeling the effects. She gives her leg a tentative little shake before letting go of the ropes...
...only for Artemis to bring her down yet again, as she attempts a heel hook!
Kerry Buckingham: Ruby, darling, wake me up when they have stopped rolling on the floor, won't you?
This time, however, Constance is sufficiently prepared, and manages to slip out of the hook attempt. She then begins trying to reverse it into her own reverse-figure-four submission, the Constance Sorrow, but Artemis's strategy pays off, as Constance's damaged leg prevents her from cinching it in properly. It is, therefore, The Champ For Life's turn to try and reverse the hold, this time into another ankle-lock. A mule-kick with her good leg, however, buys Constance just enough time to lunge for the ropes and put an end to Artemis's intentions.
Axel Reid: Constance buys herself some time...but look at the smirk on the face of Artemis Kaiser...
Indeed, The Champ For Life seems satisfied that she has re-ignited the spark in Constance Chapin as she, too, rolls through to her feet. She then switches tactics once again, lunging forward with her superman punch, the Falcon Punch, just as Constance is returning to her feet. A shout from Emily Darcy, however, allows the Mancunian to dodge, just in the nick of time, and instead it is Artemis who finds herself at the receiving end of a move – in this case, a German suplex! The diminutive Canadian rolls through to her feet as fast as she can, however, and is soon lunging at Constance again – only to be caught in her trademark fireman's carry gutbuster! The first cover of the matchup then ensues!
ONE!
TWO!
...NO!!
Axel Reid: Kickout by Artemis Kaiser, but Constance seems to have evened the odds yet again.
Kerry Buckingham: Oh, joy...
Indeed, as the two women start over, Constance is still in control, and picks Artemis up straight into a cobra-clutch leg sweep!
Axel Reid: Constance calls that move the Constance Clutch...and here is another cover!
ONE!
TWO!
...NO! Yet another kickout from Artemis!
Axel Reid: Yet another kickout from Artemis Kaiser, as both women seem to have changed tack here, going from a submission approach to more strike-oriented strategies...
Kerry Buckingham: Yes, things do seem to have picked up a bit all of a sudden, don't they?
Axel Reid: 'Picked up a bit'?! This is a fantastic match so far, and these fans seem to agree!
Indeed, the Belfast crowd is getting firmly behind both competitors as they start over, egged on as ever by Emily Darcy, whose fiancee continues to dominate in the ring. She brings Artemis up to her feet yet again, but this time, The Champ For Life fights back. A series of quick punches to Constance's gut cause the Brit to stumble back, upon which Artemis seeks to capitalise with her rolling elbow, The First Crusade!
Axel Reid: First Crusade attempt...but Constance reverses!!!
Indeed, the Brit has managed to move out of the way and slip up behind Artemis, quickly reversing the momentum with a belly-to-back suplex! She then advances for a cover!
ONE!
TWO!
THR—NO! ...Artemis kicks out at the last minute!
Axel Reid: Constance almost caught Artemis unaware with that reversal, but The Champ For Life survives!
Someone, however, does not seem to agree – namely, Emily Darcy, who has jumped up on the apron to yell at the referee that the move was a three-count for her fiancee! The official stands his ground, guaranteeing it was only a long two, but this does not seem to satisfy Emily, who continues to yell. Intervention from Constance is therefore required, as she begins to direct some stern words at Emily herself, telling her not to get involved and that the referee is right.
Kerry Buckingham: Really! If you want to have a pet, you should keep it on a leash!
Ruby Parvati: Even Constance doesn't want her girlfriend around! Some loving couple they are!
Kerry Buckingham: Oh, I could tell you stories, dear. If only you had Twitter...
Having her own fiancee yell at her does seem to pacify Emily somewhat, and, after a moment, she hops back down off the apron. Also seemingly satisfied, Constance prepares to turn around and once again focus on the match...
...only to get caught by a First Crusade from a recovered Artemis!
Axel Reid: FIRST CRUSADE CONNECTING, and the distraction from her fiancee has cost Constance Chapin!
After the rolling elbow connects, sending Constance hurtling to the floor, Artemis prepares to drag her opponent's inert body to the centre of the canvas. Before she can do so, however, she is engaged by a livid Emily, who once again gets up on the apron and starts to yell.
Kerry Buckingham: Oh heavens, not again!
The referee once again goes to intervene, but this time Artemis is quicker. With a swift lunge forward, she knocks Emily off the apron with a Falcon Punch, sending her spiralling to the floor, unconscious. Then – under the flabbergasted stare of the referee and nascent boos from the fans – she once again turns her attention back to Constance, whom she drops down to cover. Initially paralysed with surprise over what just happened, the referee eventually returns to his sense, in time to slide in for the count!
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
Artemis Kaiser has picked up her second victory in as many matches in VoW!
Jerry Heisenberg: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match...The Champ For Life...ARTEMIS! KAISER!!!
The referee and Artemis both return to their feet as the announcer makes the call, the former raising the latter's hand in victory. As she is officially declared the winner, Artemis glares around at the stands, her trademark evil smirk on her lips, as if telling the fans this is just the beginning.
Axel Reid: Former GPW West Coast Champion Artemis Kaiser triumphs over her World Champion counterpart here, in what could be the beginnings of an undefeated streak!
Ruby Parvati: A two-match undefeated streak?! Please, Axel! That is an insult to people like Ryder!
Reid seems poised to reply, but before he can do so, it is the guest announcer's turn to excuse herself:
Kerry Buckingham: Pardon me, darlings, but I have a flight to catch. Ruby, darling, always a pleasure...kiss-kiss...good luck with...him.
The feed cuts to a shot of the Brit leaving, under Ruby's smiling gaze and Axel's indignant glare, before returning to the ring, where EMTs are shown attending to the unconscious Constance and Emily. From there, Rammstein's 'Sonne' plays viewers out as the broadcast cuts to elsewhere in the arena.
