Risk Taking

We head backstage, and our cameras cut into the office of the General Manager of VoW, Sky Sangue. She appears to be on a phone call with someone.

Sky Sangue: Yes, yes...I cancelled the match... Both wrestlers were notified earlier in the week, yes... ...They seem to have taken it well to my knowledge...Right... ...I'm glad you-

The hint of a smirk that sat on her face almost flips as she looks off-screen, zooming out causes an uproar of cheers from the live Cardiff audience as a figure joins Sky on the screen.

Sky Sangue: ...No, nothing is wrong...My apologies, something just came up...I'm going to have to call you back...I know...Right... ...

Sangue hangs up the phone and brushes some hair away from her face, in agitation before calmly addressing the interruption.

Sky Sangue: Mr. Gonsalves, with the expression on your face and the fact that you are in your wrestling gear I would assume you're here to...ah...confront me on the decision I made earlier in the week. Regarding your originally planned 'match' with one...Artemis Kaiser?

The name itself causes a pop with the crowd as Owen doesn't look pleased at all.

Owen Gonsalves: You would assume right, Ms. Sangue. Important call?

Sky Sangue: To a certain extent, yes...Actually it was about that decision.

Gonsalves nods slowly, maintaining his cool thus far. He slightly shrugs his shoulders for a moment.

Owen Gonsalves: The call wouldn't have happened to be about you reversing your decision on cancelling Artemis Kaiser vs Owen Gonsalves, would it by any chance?

The Cardiff crowd aren't pleased at the decision either as a boo now roars.

Sky Sangue: Er no...Mr. Gonsalves, allow me to explain...Whether you like it or not, you do not exactly have the safest reputation inside this ring. In fact the mere signing of you caused worry in our sponsors initially, but that was put to rest when I took a chance on booking Scarlet Flint against you. However, that was a time when we didn't have over 5 or 6 of our Visionaries injured due to human error inside the ring or, to put it frankly, slaughtering by another Visionary.

Sangue is indeed trying to be careful with her choice of words. The crowd aren't pleased with any of the words that Sangue is choosing

Sky Sangue: I have sponsors and plenty of suits breathing down my neck with every match I book...I attempted the risk of placing you in the ring with Artemis Kaiser, but it is a different situation and her reputation of in-ring violence is just as bad as Scarlet Flint's and yours, maybe even worse depending on which way you look at it. Therefore, I cannot take another risk...

There's once again a resounding boo as Owen runs a hand through his hair.

Owen Gonsalves: You're right, my history with violence and injuries in the ring isn't the smoothest but that's something I'm working on. I've altered my style and the way I approach opponent's like Scarlet Flint or Seth Iser or Artemis Kaiser...This match may have been looked at as Arty's proving ground but if anything it's mine...It was an opportunity for me to prove that I'm working on changing.

There's a mixed reaction from the crowd here.

Owen Gonsalves: ...But most importantly, the fans in Cardiff deserve to see The God of Anger step into the ring with The High Flyah Messiah! These people WANT to see this match happen, you've taken that away from them, from me and you've taken a lot of cash from VoW. Artemis is hot off one of the best runs of her career in GPW and she's hot off a win over GPW's World Champion...She's money and you know it. Give the people what they want...

Sangue is hesitant, it's easy to tell. She mumbles to herself for a moment.

Sky Sangue: You want Artemis? Fine, you've got her...

Owen smirks and nods before spinning around and going to walk out.

Sky Sangue: ...Next week, Mr. Gonsalves.

Owen turns back around, slightly disappointing but nods either way before going to turn back around.

Sky Sangue: HOWEVER...if I see things get out of hand, there WILL be consequences.

The Australian stops in his tracks again, pausing for a moment before continuing to walk out. Sky sighs and shakes her head slowly, not sure if she herself made the right decision in re-booking the match for the next show. We fade back to ringside...

Ryder Blade Vs. Tyler Storm

Ruby Parvati: The next match is what we have all been waiting for. A chance to see Ryder Blade extend his winning streak. The man has been pretty much flawless since debuting.

Axel Reid: Yeah, but this week he faces Tyler Storm. Tyler Storm is nothing short of amazing. Ryder must be hoping that Wall of Woe match at Armed and Dangerous is still slowing Blade down.

Jerry Heisenberg:The following contest is a non title match. Introducing first. . .

Some people have to learn
Some people wait their turn
Some people but not me
I was born a champion!

Jerry Heisenberg:He is the VoW Xcellent Champion.

Chipmunk and Chris Brown's 'Champion' brings the crowd inside the Fort William Gardens to a simmer of anticipation, which immediately turns into boos as a familiar figure appears on the ramp - that of the Xcellent Champion, Ryder Blade. The Champ is clad in a sleeveless red hoodie and matching trunks, both prominently branded with the bright yellow Sprintex logo on the back. The hood of the jacket is over his head as he walks down the ramp in the company of his two masked bodyguards, throwing his taped fists in front of his face in a series of air-boxing moves as he goes. He also takes a moment to display his footwork, hopping nimbly about prior to entering the ring.

Jerry Heisenberg:MIXED MARTIAL RYDER!!!!

Ruby Parvati: Ryder looks good tonight, he looks focused. He has this match. You know when the wins start mouting there is a lot of pressure on a young prodigy to deliver to the multitude of fans. He has multimillion dollar endorsement with Sprintex this kid is on top of the world and loving it Axel.

Axel Reid: It only takes a 1...2....3 to crash this little arrogant jerk back down to reality. Tyler is going to give it to him here tonight. Storm being on a two match losing streak is not happy. Back to back loses are not Storm's standard.

Upon entering the squared circle, Ryder stands in the center, belt held aloft, among a chorus of boos. Only after posing for a moment does the Xcellent Champion pull down the hood and hand the belt over to the match referee. He then gets rid of his jacket altogether and steps into the center of the mat, ready to start the match!

Axel Reid: Here comes the man that I firmly believe will end the streak here tonight. Tyler Storm is a radient light in all of VoW's darkness. Tonight he will put Ryder down and continue on to regain his I4NI Championship.

Ruby Parvati: Yeah, lets not get too far of ahead of ourselves Axel.

The crowd suddenly erupts into cheers as the arena turns pitch black and "Country Song" by Seether begins to play. However, the music suddenly stops, the crowd showing a bit of confusion as silence overtakes the arena for a moment. Then, the titantron slowly begins fading in three words that eventually read out "Time To Shine."

Jerry Heisenberg: Now introducing the challenger.

As the words become fully visible, "Time To Shine" by Saliva begins to play and the crowd begins cheering loudly once more as Tyler Storm comes running out, jumping to the middle of the stage as bursts of smoke blast from either side of the stage. As he composes himself, he smiles as he walks to each corner of the stage and begins signaling to the fans, then slowly begins jogging down the ramp to the ring giving fans high-fives.

Jerry Heisenberg: “THE HYBRID” TYLER STORM!

As Tyler reaches the end of the ramp, he pauses for a second to again look around at the crowd. He smiles, does a quick 360 degree turn, then runs at the ring and slides in. In the ring he gets down on one knee in the middle, quickly looks around again, then punches the ground and while jumping up lets out a yell. Tyler then walks over to the corner, signaling out to the fans, as he awaits for the match to begin.

Axel Reid: This guy just loves his job Ruby. There needs to be more guy like him in the industry. Look at him glowing, he is getting paid to do what he loves. A lot of people lose sight of that quick, but not Storm.

Axel Reid: Doesn't this just have a big match feel.

Ruby Parvati: Please Axel conceal your wrestling boner.

DING!DING!DING!

Ryder smirks as he shoots hand out to Tyler knowing he has an easy target. Tyler, the gentleman that he is takes the bait, but Ryder pulls his hand back at the last second as the crowd erupts with boos.

Ryder Blade: SIK. . .!

Tyler smacks the brash child across the mouth and the crowd pops. Tyler now grabs the head of Blade putting him in a head lock. Ryder with shots to the ribs of Storm though and lifts him up planting him on the knee with an atomic drop.

Ruby Parvati: Smart move by Blade there, a counter he continues to use in that type of situation.

Blade bashes his forehead into the back of Storms and then wraps his hands around tight locking in a sleeper hold. Storm seems to be fading already after being struck with a headbutt. Tyler drops all his weight pulling Ryder over his head, now Ryder is in a seated position. Tyler floats over top with a front flip grabbing the head of Ryder and over extending his spine. Ryder snaps backward from the forward whiplash just as Tyler scoots out to the apron.

Axel Reid: What a counter by Tyler Storm.

Storm taunts to the cheering crowd in the Cardiff arena as he springs off the top rope with a beautiful 450 splash landing perfectly across the stomach of the VoW Xcel Champion.

Ruby Parvati: YES!

Axel Reid: Dammit, Tyler almost had him. That was an amazing secession of moves by the former I4NI Champion. He is showing why he is called “The Hybrid”.

Blade throws the shoulder in the air. Just as he was trying to keep the pace of the match slow, he let Tyler get the rhythm and. . . BANG! Storm comes crashing down with a jumping elbow on Ryder Blade and pulls him up by the neck to his feet. The crowd cheers as Storm grabs Blade and nails an exploder suplex. Ryder holds his lower back and rolls around dramatically as Storm taunts to he roaring onslaught of fans here to see Blade get his due.

Axel Reid: Tyler Storm is working him now. You have to think Storm would like to pick this win up for Owen. They had a tag team together, and with the way Ryder robbed him last week . . .

Storm is in hot purist of the Xcel Champion who is just getting to his feet. Storm goes for a kick but Blade catches his foot.

Ryder Blade: Yeah right BRUH!

Storm swings the other leg up cracking the side of Blade's head.

Ruby Parvati: Dammit Tyler is just so quick. You just have to give Blade a few minutes, he will find a way to slow him down.

Blade is staggered just enough for Storm to snap a quick suplex that sends Blade head over heels. Storm is on top now raining punches down onto the face of Ryder Blade who tries desperately to dodge with no avail. Storm nails and elbow to the forehead of Blade before hoping up and hitting a standing shooting star press for the cover.

KICKOUT!

Ruby Parvati: Not even close for Tyler Storm. This guy has no idea who he is dealing with. This guy is almost undefeated.

Axel Reid: In this sport Ruby, almost means not good enough.

Blade kicks out quick, not allowing the pin to get even close to a 3. Storm laughs a bit pulling the champion to his feet. Tyler hits a belly to belly facebuster. Blade holds his nose crawling toward the rope.

Axel Reid: Ryder Blade is in serious trouble in this match. Storm is stalking him now.

Storm grabs the Xcel Champion pulling him to his feet. Ryder staggers in a boxing stance as the crowd laugh, but reaching one hand out he rakes the eyes of Storm who spins around for Blade to hoist him up and lay him out with a backdrop.

Ruby Parvati: Brilliant move by the current Xcellent Champion! His technique improves week after week.

Ryder jabs a knee into the side of Storm on his way to his feet. Ryder grabs Tyler and. . .

Ruby Parvati: X-PLEX! THE X-PLEX AXEL! He nearly broke Storm IN HALLLFFF!

Axel Reid: Calm down Ruby, it's just a regular suplex.

Ruby Parvati: You clearly do not understand the X Axel. I can't even believe that Tyler is moving on the ground after that one.

Axel Reid: This is just getting ridiculous. . .

Blade makes his way to the top. He's taunting to the jeering fans, in a quick bursts Tyler Storm nips up and runs toward Blade who in a pinch jumps off the top rope with an ax handle stopping the locomotive of momentum Storm was wishing to mount. Ryder laughs as he once again scales the ropes.

Ruby Parvati: He is just one step ahead of Tyler tonight. It's destiny for that streak to continue.

Ryder taunts launching himself off the top rope and . . . .

BOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

The crowd hates Ryder as he lands on his feet, kisses his bicep and hops into the air dropping a leg across the throat of Tyler Storm.

Ruby Parvati: What a move by Ryder!

Axel Reid: He is clearly mocking Tyler's aerial tactics. It's going to come back to bite him.

Blade makes the cover

Blade drives his forearm into the forehead of Tyler forcing another cover.

Axel Reid: Looks like that X-plex didn't do the damage he hoped. Storm has lots of life left at this point.

Storm is on his knees and Ryder smashes a fist into his head, Storm is still there nailing a shot to the stomach, again quicker than Blade he catches him in the stomach. Storm swings his leg around hard sweeping the legs of Ryder. Tyler grabs the head of Blade now in a tight headlock while he is on the ground.

Axel Reid: Smart move by Tyler, he is trying to regain his composure using a headlock to tie up the Xcel Champion.

Ryder steps up though and breaks the hold throwing Storm to the ropes. Storm comes back and Ryder tosses him over his back, Storm however lands on his feet and continues the the other side of the ring bouncing off the ropes and hitting a spear on an unsuspecting Ryder Blade.

Axel Reid: HE GOT HIM! He nearly through himself through Blade with that spear. Tyler came to win Ruby.

Blade holds his guts kicking his legs like he just got all his ribs broken. Tyler doesn't give him a second hauling him to a vertical base.

Axel Reid: TIGER BITE! The Xcel Champion is out cold.

Ruby Parvati: No, this can't be it. Ryder has worked too hard to fall to Tyler storm.

The Cardiff arena is going nuts as Tyler Storm goes to the top rope. One of Ryder's body guards hops up to the apron and argues with the ref.

Axel Reid: Storm is setting up for Paranoia it looks like Ruby!

Tyler tosses his hands into the air as the arena chants.

STORM! STORM! STORM!

BOOOOOOOO!

Axel Reid: NOOOO!

Tyler Storm falls as the other body guard pulls his leg off balance causing him to fall over the turnbuckle groin first. Storm hangs there trying to get his feet into a position to get the presure off his baby maker. Ryder pulls himself up and walks toward Tyler as quick as possible he grabs Storm and. . .

Ruby Parvati: SUPER X-PLEX!

A superplex from the top rope causes the ref to whip around hearing the impact. Both men lay in the ring, unresponsive as the crowd can do nothing but cheer at the action taking place.

Axel Reid: It looks like Blade nailed the back of his head off the mat just as hard as Storm did.

Ruby Parvati: That is the kind of wrestler he is Axel. He is a risk taker, he will do whatever it takes.

Both men are to their knees at the same time and look at each other across the ring.

Axel Reid: What a battle here in Cardiff Wales, this is a VoW classic.

Both men are to their feet and walk towards one another.

Ruby Parvati: Here we go again. Give him all you got Ryder. You have to keep that streak in tact.

Both men exchanging in the ring back and forth, spit and sweat flying into the first row as Ryder slaps Storm across the face. Tyler's eyes widen and he comes back with a high stiff head kick that sends the Xcel Champion to the ground. Ryder crawls toward the outside of the ring, but erupts as Storm grabs the fleeing champion by the ankle and hauls him closer to the center of the ring.

Ruby Parvati: NO! Don't let him lock in a submission Blade.

Axel Reid: Come on Tyler lock in the Tiger's Cage and call this a night.

Ryder rolls over and Storm steps a leg between his looking to set up for a sharpshooter, but Blade kicks a foot up in the face of Tyler Storm. Tyler staggers back coming off the ropes and meets an unorthodox monkey flip by Ryder Blade. Tyler lays back first on the mat now as Blade slowly rises to his feet tapping his temple. The crowd jeers at his ring awareness.

Axel Reid: I must admit that was a smart move by Ryder.

Ruby Parvati: Like I said, week after week he gets better. He tasted a loss his first time here in VoW and ever since he has altered his game to adapt to his opponent.

Tyler is pulling himself up with the ropes and just reaches the middle rope. Ryder comes flying across the ring to plant a boot into the side of the head of Storm. The former I4NI Champion is put down yet again at Ryder Blade attempts to regain his breath.

Ruby Parvati: A beautiful

Storm has dragged himself to the turnbuckle and is using it to get to his feet again. Ryder sees him and comes running across the ring looking to hit. . .

Ruby Parvati: Sprint-X!

Storm counters at the last second launching Ryder over his shoulder. Blade comes back down face first on the turnbuckle turning around just in time to receive. . .

Axel Reid: THE HARDCASTLE TREATMENT!

Blade crumbles to the mat from the springboard roundhouse. Tyler Storm is on his knees listening the crowd go wild in Wales as he falls over Ryder Blade for the cover.

Axel Reid: The streak is ove. . .

KICKOUT!!!!!!!!!

Ruby Parvati: NO! Blade keeps the shoulder up. The Streak is alive Axel!

Storm runs his hands through his hair. The thought he has it. He thought that he ended the streak. He shakes his head laughing as he pulls Ryder Blade up by the hair. Blade is on his knees and Tyler swoops with a kick the the skull, but Blade ducks. When Storm's back it to Blade. . . .

Axel Reid: LOW BLOW! Just when you think Ryder is half talented he reminds me us of just how he got 15 wins.

Ruby Parvati: Like I said Axel he is willing to do whatever it takes.

Tyler Storm falls over, the wind taken out of his sails as Ryder Blade hugs the bottom rope. Blade slowly gets to her feet as Tyler stops heaving. The ref just finishes checking on Tyler as Ryder's boots meet his ribs.

Ryder Blade: That's RIGHT! I am THE CHAMPION! I am THE BEST BABY!

Axel Reid: The arrogance of Ryder Blade.

Ruby Parvati: He does have a reason to be confident. Look at his track record.

Ryder winks at a hot blonde in the front row as he averts his attention back to Tyler Storm. Blade is standing over Storm doing a 10 second photo op when Storm gets to his feet quick, putting Ryder on his shoulders.

Ruby Parvati: NO! He is setting it up.

Axel Reid: I can see THE EYE OF THE STORM!

Blade is panicking, but jumps off the shoulders of Tyler Storm. Blade puts his arm between the legs and . . .

Ruby Parvati: Schoolboy!

Jerry Heisenberg: THE WINNER via pinfall RYDER BLADDDEEEE!

“Chipmunk” blasts through the PA as Ryder Blade scurries through the ropes, his body guards step in front of him handing the Xcellent Championship to a smiling Ryder Blade as he walks up the ramp.

Ruby Parvati: THE STREAK IS ALIVE! Ryder Blade will do whatever it takes to win Axel. That is what makes him a champion. That is what makes him the Xcellent Champion, and that’s what will keep him that championship.

Axel Reid: He barely escaped with a win here Ruby. Tyler was putting the boots to him, he needed a low blow to change the momentum. This punk will never make s fan out of me.

Storm is to his feet and kicks the bottom rope hard, he shakes his head in disappointment knowing his mind may have been somewhere else tonight. Focused on a different champion. Tyler lifts his face with a glowing smile now. He steps through the ropes, walking up the ramp as optimistically as he can as our scene fades...

Main Event Tag Team Match

The Requiem (Heath Williams & Tyron Bickerton) vs. The Orphanage (Casanova English & Matt Robinson)

Fireworks explode at the top of the entranceway, and shoot from pods down the ramp as "Critically Disdained" by Bowling For Soup kicks in. Heath and Tyron step out from behind the curtain, displaying the heavy metal devil horns to the crowd. Heath walks down the left side of the ramp while Tyron strides the right, slapping the fans' outstretched hands as they pass. Their manager Missy Chick follows their lead, holding a clipboard to her suited side which obviously has strategies and points of interest written down.

Jerry Heisenberg: Ladies and gentleman the following contest is a Tag Team Match scheduled for one fall, and it is your MAIN EVENT of the evening! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by their manager, Missy Chick, at a combined weight of 482lbs… HEATH WILLIAMS AND TYRON BICKERTON… THE REQUIEM!!!

Ruby Parvati: At least Heath is dressed for action now instead of impersonating Casanova English. He looks better this way, after all.

Axel Reid: There were numerous sources that led us to believe that in the run-up to this match tonight, both Heath Williams and Tyron Bickerton parodied Matt Robinson and Casanova English. You have to wonder if they were just being a comedy duo, or if that was purposefully designed to get under their skin and get them angry enough to make mistakes.

Ruby Parvati: Well they do say impersonation is the sincerest form of flattery, and God knows that Tyron will do anything to be just like Robinson and English.

Axel Reid: Was that a negative comment about his appearance again?

Ruby Parvati: Of course it was. I don’t care how talented Bickerton is or if he is the Zero Gravity Champion. He has to do something about that bulbous gut, and quickly!

Both men shoot off in opposite directions, climbing the nearest turnbuckle to each of them and raising their arms to get the crowd fired up. Bickerton even raises up his Zero Gravty Championship, showing the crowd his prized possession and the intensity he had to earn it. They enter the ring and perform their secret handshake as their theme dies out, doing so as Missy wanders the ringside area, checking her notes verbatim.

Axel Reid: These two men could have the ingredients needed to be a fully-functioning, compatible team. This will be their first match in VoW as a tandem, but I can see that they are already organized for battle.

Ruby Parvati: Heath is a wonder to behold, but I don’t think he’ll get anywhere with Tyron by his side. Even with Missy out there - I love her high heels, by the way - this could be a disaster waiting to happen.

"Live For This" by Hatebreed blasts out of the PA system and the fans boo heavily as "The Punisher" Matthew Robinson slowly walks out onto the stage with frustration in his eyes.

Axel Reid: Speaking of disasters, here comes a man who may have just created one for himself...

Robinson looks around at the booing fans before he begins to slowly and methodically make his way down the ramp. His usual smirk is gone, instead replaced by an expression of anger with a hint of paranoia.

Jerry Heisenberg: And their opponents… introducing first, residing in Miami, Florida, he stands at 6’5” and weighed in tonight at 245lbs… representing the Orphanage, “THE PUNISHER” MATT ROBINSON!!!

Axel Reid: After what’s been happening tonight, what do you think is going through his head right now?

Ruby Parvati: He’s probably thinking about destroying Heath and Tyron and leaving this building as quickly as possible. I don’t blame him considering the mind games Seifer has been playing. He’s a freak!

Axel Reid: He was pushed too far by Robinson’s actions, Ruby. But truth be told, I never thought Seifer would be driven this deep into madness. Robinson may deserve some punishment for what he has done, but I fear his career could be in jeopardy as a consequence of that I Quit Match at Armed and Dangerous.

Robinson reaches the bottom of the ramp and slithers underneath the bottom rope before walking across the ring to the furthest turnbuckle, he climbs it before raising his arms into the air at the booing fans before he climbs back down. Robinson stares across the ring at Heath and Tyron, who talk amongst themselves about how to take care of him in the match.

Axel Reid: One Orphanage member is present. Now we just wait for the other.

The lights go dim as the eerie voice of a former member of the notorious Manson Family rings through the arena.

"yeah, I remember her saying:
I'm already dead... I'm already dead... I'm already dead..."

Ruby Parvati: And here comes the REAL Casanova English, Axel! Not a ridiculous imposter.

The lights flicker revealing Casanova English on the stage, also standing with the Visionary World Championship. The crowd boos loudly as the voice continues.

"You're going to get up and scream. I'm already dead... I'm already dead... I'm already dead..."
You're going to get up and-
Burn an x in your head."

Pyro blasts off and the lights turn back on as Casanova English takes a long drag off his already lit cigarette, his leather jacket hung loosely over his shoulders. He scowls at the crowd before walking down the ramp slowly.

Jerry Heisenberg: And his tag team partner, residing in Toronto, Canada, he stands at 5’11” and weighed in tonight at 200lbs… also representing the Orphanage, he is the CURRENT AND TWO-TIME VISIONARY WORLD CHAMPION… “THE MODERN DAY MESSIAH” CASANOVA ENGLISH!!!

Axel Reid: When you believe you’re the most important person in this company like Casanova English does - and that’s hard to argue with when you’re the first and only two-time VoW World Champion - then I think you may find an impersonation of yourself amusing. But from what I can see, it seems Casanova simply wants to teach Heath and Tyron a lesson for their indignity.

Ruby Parvati: And I don’t blame him for that. Everyone wants to kill the Orphanage. Everyone wants to kick English off his throne. When you have that many enemies breathing down your neck, you really do start to think of how to put those people in their place. As much as I like Heath, he’s going to suffer for what he did.

Axel Reid: People seem to forget that English held this company hostage and almost killed it so that he could become World Champion and bring the Orphanage to power. There is a reason why everyone wants to destroy that foundation, Ruby, and tonight Heath and Tyron will attempt to put the first wound into the re-construction of English’s brainchild.

English stops to blow smoke in the general direction of some fans before slowly strutting up the steps onto the ring apron. He hangs his jacket on the turnbuckle before stepping through the second rope. English smirks pulling the cigarette from his lips, he blows a cloud of smoke straight up into the air and tosses his coffin nail into the crowd. English laughs as people move trying to avoid the ember, doing so as Tyron and Heath bump fists in agreement on something.

Axel Reid: This should be an interesting main event featuring two Visionary Champions. Two teams that want to make a statement are about to collide, and I have no idea what we are going to expect.

Robinson opts to start the match for the Orphanage, giving English the sort of glare that means business. Not wanting to deny his partner the satisfaction of taking his rage out on The Requiem, English nods and exits the ring, standing in his corner as Heath does the same in the opposite one.

Ruby Parvati: So lard boy is going to start off against the much-fitter Robinson? What a death wish this is…

Axel Reid: You can’t underestimate Tyron Bickerton, Ruby. This was a guy who took Brett Carson to the limit on his debut, and there is a reason why he is the current Zero Gravity Champion. If he can manage to win this match against Robinson and English with Heath, that will be quite the story to tell to their grandchildren someday.

Ruby Parvati: If Tyron even gets any, but that’s another story…

DING DING DING!!!

Axel Reid: And our Main Event is underway.

Robinson approaches Tyron, giving him a stern message about what awaits him. Tyron extends his arms, telling Robinson to bring it, and this inspires Robinson to rush in, initiating a strong lock-up. As Missy, Heath and English look on, Robinson and Tyron jockey for position, but it seems neither man can get the advantage. The two soon separate from the lock-up, causing Robinson to shove Tyron backwards in anger.

Ruby Parvati: Robinson doesn’t need to prove his strength to Tyron. He should just punch him in the face and kick him.

Tyron shrugs his shoulders and looks out at the crowd, listening to their responses before he shakes his head at Robinson. This time Tyron rushes in, grabbing a second, stiffer lock-up that Robinson nearly stumbles backwards from. The Punisher regains his footing though and composes his position, ensuring that Tyron doesn’t get the upper hand. Once again this results in a stalemate, and as they break up again Tyron shoves Robinson!

Axel Reid: There is so much testosterone present here that I think these two men could end up wanting to kill each other!

With a snarl, Robinson storms into a third lock-up with the Zero Gravity Champion, and this time there is a lot more movement. Both men growl and heave as they shove the other, and finally it is Tyron who builds momentum, moving Robinson into an unoccupied corner of the ring. Being ring savvy, Robinson raises his arms in defence of Tyron’s lock-up, and the referee starts to count Tyron down to stop cornering Robinson in this manner. Tyron eventually backs off and looks at the referee momentarily, which gives Robinson time to swing a punch at Bickerton. Unfortunately Tyron sees it coming and ducks, only to pop right back up and slap Robinson across the face to instant joy from the crowd!

Ruby Parvati: You don’t slap Matthew Robinson!

Axel Reid: Well Tyron just did, and Robinson is enraged!

Robinson immediately gets out of the corner in pursuit of Tyron, but the Zero Gravity Champion has other ideas, bringing Robinson to the canvas with a Hip Toss! Heath claps as Tyron remains on the offensive, blistering The Punisher with a chop before scooping him up and slamming him down onto the small of his back. Tyron then hits the ropes for momentum, coming off them with speed and hitting a rolling senton on Robinson to wild applause!

Axel Reid: Look at Tyron go, crushing Robinson with that rolling senton!

Bickerton gets the first cover of the match on Robinson…

But it’s far too early to win as Robinson effortlessly kicks out. Tyron brings Robinson up and guides him to his corner, where he then tags in Heath. Missy smiles as Heath gets into the ring, but Tyron is not done with Robinson, giving him an Inverted Atomic Drop that sets Heath up for a Bulldog on the Punisher!

Axel Reid: Heath and Tyron working together as a team with that seamless combination, and now Heath has the cover on Robinson!

The referee counts Robinson’s shoulders down again as English remains at the Orphanage’s corner…

ONE!

Once again Robinson kicks out early, making Heath resort to something else to keep him down with. Heath allows Robinson to stand back up, at which point Heath keeps him rocked with boxing-style jabs and hooks, showing off his boxing ability to the capacity crowd before he too scoops Robinson up and slams him down. Following this scoop slam, Heath backs off with his arms spread wide, receiving a cheer from the crowd before he jumps up and lands on Robinson with a leg drop!

Axel Reid: Robinson has yet to do any significant damage to the Requiem, and if this continues we could have victors in a short amount of time!

Ruby Parvati: That’s if you discount English helping out, which he will do.

Heath gets another cover on Robinson…

TWO!

Robinson gets his shoulders up for a third time. Heath looks over at Tyron and nods, saying he has Robinson at his mercy currently. Bringing his opponent up, Heath whips Robinson to the ropes, only for Robinson to reverse it. Heath hits the ropes but he ducks under a clothesline from the Punisher, hitting the other set of ropes in the process and jumping up for a crossbody. However Robinson catches Heath and swiftly twists him into a Powerslam, recovering from the beating he has taken thus far shortly thereafter.

Ruby Parvati: And that is why you can never give Robinson an itch. He will always find a way to counter your offence and get back on track.

Axel Reid: But Robinson doesn’t seem to be bothered about making a tag to English. It seems he wants to get some of his anger out on Heath before that happens.

Not wasting any time, Robinson hook Heath’s arms behind his head and powers him into a Full Nelson Slam. Heath hits the canvas hard, but Robinson does not let him soak in the punishment, picking him right back up and giving him a Vertical Suplex. After this, Robinson grabs Heath again and raises him onto his shoulder with a gutwrench, visibly breathing heavily before he adjusts Heath’s position and drops backwards with an Elevated Neckbreaker!

Axel Reid: What a Neckbreaker from Robinson! You know, he may be a twisted human being, but there is no denying the talent this man possesses.

Ruby Parvati: And that is why he belongs in the Orphanage, Axel. He makes a great ally when you respect him, and he has the talent to back it up.

Instead of pinning Heath right then and there, Robinson decides to lay in some boots to Heath’s head and chest, doing so before he gives him a leaping knee drop. At that point Robinson goes for the cover…

Tyron puts one leg through the ropes, wanting to help his partner…

TWO!

However Heath kicks out regardless, causing Robinson to simmer and Tyron to return to standing on the apron.

Axel Reid: Tyron thought Heath needed assistance, but Heath is a resilient individual, as we are aware from his hardcore background.

Robinson drags Heath up and headlocks him, walking him to his corner and tagging in English. The World Champion steps through and kicks Heath in the ribs, and at that point Robinson lets go of him and goes out onto the apron. English takes Heath down with a smooth Russian Leg Sweep, and afterwards he rolls backwards and seats himself near Heath’s head, whereby he sits Heath up and lays in elbows to his neck, head and chest with ruthless abandon.

Ruby Parvati: Now this is the punishment Heath SHOULD be receiving. When you dress up and make fun of someone like Casanova English, you should expect retaliation of the deadliest degree!

After unleashing a multitude of elbows to Heath, English brings his opponent up facing the other way. Casanova then bends Heath backwards, keeping his head under his arm before he drops down with an Inverted DDT!

Axel Reid: Inverted DDT connects, and that could be the difference maker in this match!

English hooks Heath’s leg for a cover…

Heath defies English and kicks-out, rolling onto his front afterwards to prevent another cover. Tyron claps Heath on, inspiring him to get back into this match.

Ruby Parvati: Clap all you want, Tyron. Heath is in the ring with the World Champion.

English punches Heath as soon as they get back up, but Heath returns one that causes English to stumble. Casanova retaliates with another punch, but Heath once again punches back! Giving Heath a knee, English avoids a third punch and whips Heath into the corner. The champion smartly moves towards Heath at pace, making sure he is not too hasty with his movements. English chops Heath’s chest several times, but Heath is tenacious, hitting English with a forearm. After Casanova regroups he moves towards Heath again, but The Hardcore Hero has other ideas, using the ropes to elevate himself over English and hooking his legs over English’s arms. Casanova tries to resist, but he is vulnerable to Heath hanging over the ropes, grabbing the World Champion’s legs and giving him a Tarantula!

Axel Reid: Look at this! Heath has English trapped in the Tarantula!

Ruby Parvati: The referee should do his job and stop this right now!

The referee is indeed telling Heath to let English go, but the referee has to stop and prevent Robinson from interfering, a man who has now moved along the apron to kick Heath’s head. Robinson argues with the referee until Heath finally lets English go, having subjected him to quite the stretch. English is still able to move around on his feet, but Heath lays in some more boxing jabs, this time on the Modern Day Messiah. Casanova tries to get his hands up but Heath changes his tactics, sweeping English over with his leg and jumping on his head with a knee drop!

Axel Reid: I can’t believe Heath has English down on the canvas, but that is exactly what we’re seeing!

Heath hooks the leg of English for another cover…

English kicks out with good energy, proving that he has enough left in the tank to survive.

Ruby Parvati: But that’s our World Champion for you. This man can not be defeated easily, for obvious reasons.

Maintaining the momentum, Heath suplexes English and then tags Tyron back in. The Zero Gravity Champion steps into the ring and jogs across the ring, squashing English with a flatback press! Tyron makes a cover!

ONE!

TWO!

English kicks out again!

Axel Reid: The fact is, Ruby, English cannot kick-out forever. Eventually he’ll succumb to Tyron and Heath, and this match will be over.

Tyron measures Casanova for a punch as the World Champion stands back up, following this up with a whip to the ropes. English comes back off the ropes as Tyron ducks down, but English boots Tyron in the face, managing to block a possible back drop and instead knocking Tyron down with a Dropkick!

Ruby Parvati: That’s if they can keep English at bay, which he just proved they cannot!

English shows signs of wear from the match, but he does not hesitate to snapmare Tyron over, keeping him in position for a running Dropkick into his face! After this English tags in Robinson, who storms into the ring and stomps on Tyron until he pulls him up and executes a Backbreaker.

Axel Reid: Robinson deciding to work on Tyron’s back, and that’s a good strategy to prevent him executing his trademark Brainbuster.

Ruby Parvati: Both Robinson and English are smart competitors, Axel. This is why The Orphanage is stronger than ever in VoW.

Robinson seems to be more confident and composed now, issuing a smirk for the first time. After giving Tyron another Backbreaker, Robinson raises Bickerton’s legs up and turns him over into a Boston Crab!

Axel Reid: Now Robinson is back to his usual self, and he has Tyron trapped in that Boston Crab!

Ruby Parvati: And this is where bulbasaur taps out! The Orphanage are about to triumph once again!

Tyron is struggling to get to the ropes, but Robinson has the move too tight. Suddenly, the arena lights start to flicker, dimming down and going brighter in quick succession.

Ruby Parvati: Huh…? What the...?

Robinson immediately lets go of the Boston Crab and looks around frantically, doing so as the lights return to normal. The crowd are abuzz as Robinson’s paranoia comes out, seeing a man losing his control as he shouts at the crowd and leans on the ropes.

Axel Reid: I’m not sure what happened then, but Robinson is convinced that Seifer was behind it!

Ruby Parvati: I bet he was! Where IS Seifer?

Meanwhile, English is ordering Robinson to calm down, but the Punisher won’t listen to him. He yells at Casanova to look for Seifer and turns around to look at Tyron, who greets Robinson with a kick to the stomach! Tyron then gives Robinson a falling powerbomb, but his back gives out during the move, resulting in both men lying on the canvas, exhausted and affected from the tag team battle!

Axel Reid: Tyron got that Powerbomb in on Robinson, but those Backbreakers did not help matters!

Ruby Parvati: Robinson needs to make a tag to English! It’s the only way he can recover properly!

Heath wills his partner on as the crowd encourage Tyron to tag him in. The Zero Gravity Champion rolls towards Heath and starts to crawl to his corner, with Robinson getting to his knees and reaching over to English. Robinson manages to tag English in first, but then Tyron leaps at Heath’s hand and tags him in to a good ovation!

Axel Reid: Both English and Heath are in, and look at Heath go!

Taking a calculated risk, Heath springs off the ropes and takes English down with a clothesline! Being a house of fire, Heath focuses on Robinson too, knocking the Punisher down with a jumping kick! The World Champion tries to grab Heath for a German Suplex, but Heath rolls over English and lands on his feet, giving English a dropkick to the back of the head! However Robinson, disobeying the referee’s orders, gets a clothesline in on Heath.

Axel Reid: Robinson should get back into his corner. This shouldn’t be 2-on-1!

With Tyron still recovering in the corner, Robinson ignores the referee and gets Heath to his feet. English joins in and both men whip Heath to the ropes, who comes right back and knocks both men down with a FLYING DOUBLE CLOTHESLINE!

Ruby Parvati: Oh now that was lucky!

Axel Reid: With Heath in the zone, it’s hard to stop him when he gets going!

Heath concentrates on English, giving him the Seven Deadly Shins as the crowd count along! Suddenly Tyron joins the fray, targeting Robinson and hitting him with a running clothesline that sends both he and the Punisher over the top rope to the floor!

Axel Reid: Now this tag team match has broken apart, and we have two different fights going on at the same time!

In the ring, Heath scales the top rope as English is down on the canvas, and the Hardcore Hero flies off with a Leg Drop that connects! Heath covers the World Champion with both legs hooked!

ONE!

THRE--- NO!

ENGLISH KICKS OUT!

Ruby Parvati: Did Heath Williams almost pin Casanova English just then?! Did my eyes deceive me?!

Axel Reid: No they did not, and meanwhile Tyron and Robinson are trading blows outside the ring here!

Tyron whips Robinson into the steel steps outside, doing so as Heath brings English to his feet and sets him up for a Suplex. But English reverses out of it and suplexes Heath instead, throwing him to the canvas quickly. Looking fatigued, English drags Heath up and whips him to the corner. Casanova charges at Heath but his opponent gets an arm up, knocking English backwards from the collision. Heath then runs out for a clothesline, but English ducks under it and moves to the corner. Stopping in his tracks before he hits the referee, Heath raises his arms and turns around, only to see English running at him for his own clothesline. Heath dodges but the referee isn’t so lucky, taking the full brunt of the clothesline and collapsing onto the canvas!

Axel Reid: Oh no! The referee just got knocked down!

Ruby Parvati: That was Heath’s fault!

Axel Reid: How could it have been? It was English that threw the clothesline!

After looking at the referee momentarily, Casanova turns back to Heath, who nails the champion with a dropkick into the corner. English starts to pull himself up, but Heath gets him with a Big Boot instead, causing English to fall forward onto the mat!

Axel Reid: This is not looking good for English! Heath has him on the cusp of defeat here!

With the crowd cheering him on, Heath pulls English up into THE FROZEN OVER… but English breaks out of it and kicks Heath in the stomach, laying him out with the English Lesson shortly thereafter! Despite giving Heath the move, English is still affected by Heath’s kicks, now residing on the mat with his opponent. The fans then decide to focus on Tyron and Robinson again, with Robinson avoiding a punch and ramming Bickerton’s back into the edge of the apron!

Axel Reid: This is just chaotic! English took Heath down with the English Lesson, but he can’t seem to regroup. Meanwhile Robinson and Tyron are still duking it out, and this is where things could get ugly!

Ruby Parvati: Well, to be honest, it can’t make Tyron any worse...

On the outside of the ring, Robinson grabs Tyron and runs him head-first into the steel barricade! The fans boo and yell at him as he shudders with violent intent, looking at them with a despicable scowl. That’s when he notices Missy in his peripheral vision, who is checking on Tyron’s condition from afar.

Axel Reid: Oh no… don’t you dare touch her, Robinson.

Following his angry thoughts, Robinson turns to Missy and walks towards her, forcing Missy to walk backwards to avoid a confrontation. Missy points a finger of warning at him, which the crowd cheer loudly at, but this only spurns Robinson on more, causing him to shove Missy down onto the floor with one hand!

Axel Reid: What a disgusting human being! Why did he do that for?!

Ruby remains silent as she looks over at Missy, who is feeling her ankle in considerable discomfort on the floor. Robinson stares down at her for a while longer before he turns around… only to get flattened by a charging SPEAR FROM TYRON that knocks them both down!

Axel Reid: I think Missy twisted her ankle after Robinson pushed her down, but then Tyron burst onto the scene with that Spear!

Ruby Parvati: Meanwhile English and Heath are getting back up in the ring, but the referee is still out cold!

English and Heath trade punches in the center of the ring, but Heath somehow gets the upper-hand. He lands a boot squarely in Casanova’s stomach and then hooks his arms, giving ENGLISH THE FROZEN OVER TO PURE DELIGHT FROM THE CROWD!

Axel Reid: FROZEN OVER ON ENGLISH! WAKE UP, REF!

The audience are going ballistic as Heath covers English, breathing heavily as the crowd chant a non-existent count for his pinfall!

Crowd: ONE! TWO! THREE!!! FOUR!!!

After the count of four, Heath finally sits up off English and looks around, noticing that the referee is still unconscious.

Axel Reid: Heath Williams could have just pinned our World Champion in the middle of the ring, but it’s not going to matter officially because the referee is still incapacitated!

Ruby Parvati: English would have kicked out if he heard the referee slamming his hand onto the mat…

Axel Reid: Oh a likely story, Ruby! Considering English never responded to the voices of this capacity crowd, I highly doubt the referee’s hand would have made much of a difference!

As Ruby and Axel have been bickering, Heath has nudged the referee with his foot a few times. Clearly frustrated by this scenario, Heath smoothes over his dried hair and looks back at English. The champion is still down on the canvas, although his leg does move, indicating he is slowly recovering from the Frozen Over DDT. Looking out at the crowd, Heath listens to their cheers before he shakes the referee and moves to his team’s corner.

Axel Reid: This is unbelievable. This match could have been over a minute ago, but now Heath has to do whatever he can to keep English down until the referee wakes up!

Scaling the ropes with some exhaustion, Heath carefully balances himself on the top rope, looking down at Casanova all the while. Before he decides to leap off, Heath raises his arms, inspiring the crowd to cheer some more.

Ruby Parvati: I wonder what he’s going to…

Suddenly, Ruby’s thought is cut-off by the appearance of Matt Robinson, who jumps onto the apron behind Heath and deliberately, with blatant intent, gives Heath an UPPERCUT BETWEEN THE LEGS!

Axel Reid: Oh what the hell?!

Immediately affected by Robinson’s forearm going into his groin, Heath loses his balance and crotches himself on the top rope as a consequence! While he clings to the rope in severe pain, Robinson leans against the ropes on the adjacent side, finally getting into the ring as Heath slumps onto the apron at his corner.

Ruby Parvati: That should put Heath out of action for the rest of the night!

Axel Reid: If that damn referee was awake, that would have been an instant disqualification! Robinson could get away with literal murder at this rate!

Before going after Heath, Robinson checks on English, beginning to help his partner up from the canvas. Suddenly the crowd cheer as Tyron rolls under the bottom rope into the ring, bearing a face of fury before he charges into the surprised Robinson with a Crossbody! Once Robinson is disposed of, Tyron makes sure to surprise English as well, giving him a Super Kick that knocks him down near the ropes!

Axel Reid: But now Tyron is back in the ring! From what we’ve been told, Robinson floored Tyron outside the ring before he took out Heath, which we unfortunately missed as we were too busy seeing what Heath was going to do!

Ruby Parvati: The problem is, Axel, bulbasaur over there is now in a 2-on-1 situation.

Axel Reid: You say that, but Tyron is the only one stood up at this point!

With everyone else down, Bickerton senses it’s time to finish the job. However, he soon realizes that he isn’t the legal man; even with the referee down, he feels it’s only right to adhere by the rules. Looking at Heath, who is unresponsive on the apron at their designated corner, Tyron notices that his partner’s hand is resting on the rope, reaching into the ring. The crowd start to buzz as Tyron looks at them, and as soon as he points at the hand, they know what he plans to do.

Axel Reid: It seems he wants these fans in Cardiff to be witnesses to the legal tag!

Shrugging his shoulders, Tyron slaps his hand against Heath’s, tagging himself in and getting pumped up as the crowd cheer!

Axel Reid: And the tag is made!

Ruby Parvati: And Robinson is getting back to his feet!

Feeling his chest and stomach, Robinson manages to get back up, although his attention is not on the Zero Gravity Champion. Tyron squats down with an intense look in his eyes, primed and ready for another charging attack. As the crowd sense a defeat for the Orphanage, Tyron rushes towards Robinson… who rears back and HARSHLY PUNTS TYRON DIRECTLY IN THE GROIN! Bickerton immediately grabs his groin and crumples onto the canvas, now handicapped as Robinson stumbles backwards into the ropes to support his loss of balance!

Axel Reid: A SECOND LOW-BLOW from Robinson! That is criminal! That is inexcusable!

Ruby Parvati: That’s called taking every advantage imaginable, Axel. With the referee out, there are no rules!

Meanwhile, English, as exhausted and weary as he is from Heath’s onslaught, notices Robinson in control and begins to tend to the referee. This time the referee stirs, responding to English’s slaps and shakes.

Axel Reid: Oh come on now, this isn’t happening. How lucky are the Orphanage at this moment in time?!

Robinson shares a look with English before he grabs the downed Tyron and stands him up. Tyron is held up by the Punisher before he is driven onto Robinson’s knees with THE TOTAL PUNISHMENT, at which point Robinson covers Bickerton despite not being the legal man!

Axel Reid: Wait a minute here… Robinson is pinning Tyron, but he was never tagged in!

Ruby Parvati: And English is pulling the referee up by his stripped shirt. He looks like a puppet on a string.

The referee, groggy and disorientated, only knows someone is being pinned as English lets go of his shirt. He therefore makes a conscious effort to do his duty, crawling into position and being to count as the crowd boo loudly and English slumps back down near the ropes!

Axel Reid: No, not like this!

ONE!

Suddenly the crowd change their mood as soon as they see Heath, crawling between the bottom and middle ropes to get back into the ring!

TWO!

Heath somehow gets to his feet, and he stumbles hastily towards the cover!

Axel Reid: COME ON, HEATH!

Heath manages to get there before English intervenes, collapsing onto Robinson and Tyron with an axe handle!

Axel Reid: Wait, the referee counted but… did Heath break up the pin in time?

English even looks unsure at what happened, even as he clubs Heath in the back of the neck as Robinson rolls away from Tyron. The referee finally gets up onto his knees and looks toward the commentary table… and as the crowd murmur, he signals for the bell!

Axel Reid: What?!

DING DING DING!!!

Ruby Parvati: That was a pinfall! It seems the Orphanage won again, Axel! Robinson successfully pinned Tyron before Heath landed on him!

Axel Reid: But realistically that shouldn’t even count! Robinson was never the legal man! This was a damn robbery!

“Live For This” by Hatebreed plays again as Robinson raises his arm towards the ceiling, doing so before he rolls out of the ring and lands on his feet. Fatigued, English does the same, joining Robinson with a smirk of gratification despite being worn down and bruised. English is handed his World Championship as both men head towards the stage, listening to Jerry Heisenberg announce the official word.

Jerry Heisenberg: Here are your winners… MATT ROBINSON AND CASANOVA ENGLISH, THE ORPHANAGE!!!

Axel Reid: Heath Williams and Tyron Bickerton should have won this match. Heath clearly had English pinned, but the referee was unable to make the count. And even with Missy suffering a twisted ankle of some kind at ringside, which one of our doctors is checking now as I speak, they still did everything they could to win this match. But it was Robinson that made the crucial difference, getting in two low-blows and making sure the Orphanage won at all costs.

Ruby Parvati: And that is the kind of loyalty English approves of, Axel. Robinson did that for the team, not just for himself. How many men do you know that will go to such lengths to succeed in order to sustain the legacy the Orphanage are crafting?

Axel Reid: There’s a lot of ruthless people I’ve seen in this world, Ruby, but the point is the Orphanage have won this match in another controversial manner. It’s as if a day never goes by without that being the case, and sadly we have just witnessed it yet again in this Tag Team Main Event.

As a doctor and his assistant finally help Missy up at ringside, offering their bodies for her to lean on and take some pressure off her foot, Heath continues to check on Tyron, who is now sat up and feeling his nose. His eyes are filled with confusion, and he asks Heath what happened. All Heath can do is shake his head and curse, informing his tag team partner that they were screwed. Eventually both men noticed Missy and join the doctors, helping her to leave the area safely as the crowd applaud the Requiem’s efforts on this cold night in Cardiff.

Valquist: A Reactionary World

Monday 26th October
Cardiff Arena, Cardiff

Patiently observing the Proving Grounds main event, Isis Derrida stands with his arms folded. There is no sign of Valquist, or any potential resemblance from Isis. In clouded grey jeans and an unbranded purple shirt with an unzipped red hoodie, Isis’s casual nature is parallel to Chris McCarthy, who is pacing around with a small silver ball in his right hand, also dressed casually in black jeans and a collared blue and white striped shirt.

Chris McCarthy: Tell me again, why can’t he be doing this?

Isis Derrida: Val’s been too close to the fire, and he ‘proved’ he’s every bit a World Champion against Winter. He needs to hear his lunacy first-hand.

Chris: I mean, what if I’m attacked? The Orphanage are just there, metres away.

Isis: It’s a blessing we know where they are.

Chris: What if I croak my lines…?

Isis: We’ve been through this, just speak from the heart. Be honest about what you’ve read, heard, saw, and experienced. Unlike Val, your education means its necessary that we throw you as far into the fire as we can.

Chris: What if this doesn’t work,” Chris says, looking down at the smoothed silver marble.

Isis: It works. It’s time for twenty minutes, and we only need a couple.

Chris: A couple minutes where I’m at risk of being attacked by the Orphans. They could come from anywhere.

Isis: Half of the thrill is that they won’t just fight you, Chris. This whole pageantry of wrestling means that if you throw a single punch they’ll go flying back against the ropes. If you get them into a submission hold, they’ll play along. We’re all well versed in the dramatic, and none so more than Val. But it won’t come to that. I’ll be here for a reason, to stop any unwanted advances. So you’ll have the floor.

Chris: I’m just unsure I want to do this without him here. Val’s earnt my trust, the real Derrida hasn’t.

Isis: The Valquist has his wish. He’s finally an ideal, and there is no better man to shepherd his words than a Chris McCarthy. Just hold the microphone a few inches from your lips, and the rest will come naturally. You’ve watched enough of these closing segments to understand what you’ll need to do.

Isis grabs Chris’s hand and squeezes the silver marble tightly. Instantaneously as Isis releases he looks up from his hand and to his face to see Valquist, in the flesh. Dressed in full orange, white, and black attire Isis turns his attention back to the match that’s concluded. Formalities appear in the ring and after half a minute of getting acquainted with hi new form, Chris is interrupted by Darius Yates.

Darius Yates: Val, you’re up.

Behind the eyes of Val, Chris has a Heads up Display with an orange text bar across the bottom that reads one short and simple phrase. Full Measures or nothing. Darius appears as a red dot on a heat map, and appears as normal when Chris turns to meet an oblivious in the eye.

Darius: You ready?

Valquist: I have to be.

Speaking as the former Visionaries World Champion, in his exact voice, Chris turns to see that Derrida was no longer in his position. Rather Val’s brother had vanished, just as he had promised to Chris before arriving in Cardiff. Following Darius directly to the curtain, Val’s theme song begins playing. We Own It by Wiz Khalifa and 2 Chainz blares for over twenty seconds, and in that time Chris observes his surroundings, seeing none of the wretched Orphans that he was lurking. Eventually Chris enters into the packed stadium, and with a very deep, British cheer, Chris doesn’t conjure up a smile for the Welsh crowd. Striding in the ring, cautious of what lied over his shoulder, Val slid into the ring with ease and then instinctively turned into the view of the camera. Chris hadn’t even rehearsed tonight, and felt empowered as the Valquist. In this moment of limelight, he better understood the attraction Val found with his transformations into Isis.

Raising up one arm to the fans directly facing the camera, Chris could feel that most were hanging off the Valiant’s every movement. Below Chris by the announce booth, the stage manager had poked a microphone into the ring and Chris calmly took it. The fading of We Own It was followed by the expected and customary pop. Having come out earlier on in the night, the cheer wasn’t as loud as Val’s entrance for his match with Winter. Doing exactly as Isis said, Chris kept the microphone a few inches from his mouth as the Cardiff Arena respected Val’s wishes to address the live crowd on live television.

‘Valquist’: A hero is more than a person, a hero is a belief. A belief that, against impossible odds, the world can be saved - and that the world is still worth saving. Heroes inspire that belief in us. They renew our faith and give us that most precious of all gifts - hope. The world needs heroes. That's why, when a true hero arrives, the world will honour him.

Val’s words are met with an eruption of cheers and noise. A ‘Robbo, Robbo, Robbo’ chant breaks out. Val eats up the applause, not for him, but for a hero of old. That chant is followed up with an all-consuming ‘UB DUB’ chant that goes on for well on for half a minute. Eventually Chris is able to dial the crowd back so he would be able to hear himself speak.

Valquist: We’re all human, and we’ve all got heroes. Robert Stevens, he was one of mine. UBW, it proved the precursor for Infinity, and the infinite city proved a precursor for my reign as a Visionary. Those words will stick with me forever, words of a hero, but perhaps so more in Cardiff and the UK where this journey truly began.

There is deep, heavy clapping following Val’s sentiment. Beyond the veil, Chris knew bringing up a sensitive subject in wrestling history, a history the Visionaries of Wrestling might not fully understand, would get the crowd on Val’s side.

Valquist: It has been through the storms of this federation that I’ve found myself washed up on shore, alone. My alarming emptiness tells the whole story. After all I said with my words, and performed with brutal actions I believe there is no other way of wording failure except for just putting its bitter taste out there. The poison of losing has followed me like a plague, even as Visionaries World Champion, and I’ve held my hands up to each occasion. But against English, I’ll not bow to the whim that the federation expect. They’re expecting me to keep my mouth quiet and stay as a true professional, but in light of the storm, the needs of my purpose have changed, and Valquist can no longer stray in the shadows and let a wider collective fill the gratification of a man and an Orphan that doesn’t deserve his acclaim.

Chris’s uncensored and untrained expressions meant that Val’s facial movements felt realistic and frustrated, just as Chris had been prior and following Val’s defeat to Casanova English in the main event of Armed and Dangerous.

Valquist
“To justify the changing of the guard, I find myself back at square one. We all do. Lost amongst the shuffle against a foe such as Winter Pine that was trying to stay afloat with a fifty pound anchor wrapped around her feet. ”

Chris’s temper was threatening to overtake the moment, with the Brooklyn native forcing himself to calm down, even though every member of the audience could see how much that title meant to Valquist.

Valquist: In a raw truth, speaking purely from my gut, this occasion was always going to be the same. It never truly mattered about the journey or the capability of the wrestlers. Reality now lies in the delusion that this was all planned, from the very start. To reinstate the champion that they want, to an audience that at times craves nothing more than the simplicity that one Casanova supplies. To make it happen, they must feed him a man misunderstood and underappreciated. A man far superior, both in terms of quality and substance, that’d be the catalyst for underlying the point that it doesn’t matter how good one can be, and how far he goes, we can all fall. We can all learn to be humble, even when we should be angered and enraged...

There are plenty of wrestlers in the backstage area that’d be terrified of such confrontation, of challenging the very judgement of an institution that provided a man such as myself with a second chance. We’re told on a regular basis that if we don’t like it, we know where the door is. This path towards enlightenment, it doesn’t have to happen here, there, or anywhere.

I say enough.

There is a slight turning of the crowd on Val after he declared that people can sometimes can be a little bit susceptible to believing in idiocy. Nonetheless, Chris felt empowered and still saw that he had over fifteen minutes of time left before reality would resume.

Valquist: It’s time to stop living every moment of every day as a reaction. It’s time to stop being reactionary people and reactionary wrestlers, allowing sub-standard reactions win. In the age of enlightenment, it’s time to cut the cord that we must tow any line, and be one of a few people. There are too many similarities, and not enough people that can distinguish between a reaction and an action.

Is this truly what you crave as the summit of your ambitions? Casanova English and his Orphans as that action? English as the Visionaries World Champion, and for what other reason than being an artless reaction? Every time Valquist has taken action, by addressing all of you, English reacts. Val puts a class cube in the middle of the ring, English attempts to shatter the glass. Val writes the word ‘Enlightenment’, English reacts by saying ‘Entitlement’. Val wins the World Championship, and English reacts by going out of his way to perpetuate a story moulded in his design. But now that he has won the belt back, where is his action? Where is his story? Once again it has been left down to true Valiance to initiate and to show the flock of orphans the path to their pen.

We were all so close to real history. So close to having English expelled from the reaches of the title that he does not deserve. One he is not good enough to hold, physically or morally. Yet, it is I, Valquist, that stands alone in this moment, questioning. Longing for answers, and plagued by an uncertainty that there is no tomorrow.

The Visionaries World Championship has been reduced to the cinder block of its creation. Reduced to a simplicity of expression. Generic and obvious phrases such as ‘it’s good to be champion’ and ‘here I am again, king of the castle’.

In truth, that’s all he deserves. No, he doesn’t deserved to be spoon-fed praise on every podcast in the land, and no he doesn’t deserve more than my criticism, because by the very nature of what has become of the Visionaries, people such as a Valquist should take action against the notion that men such as Casanova are primed to be the absolute pinnacle in any federation. Good men will no longer satisfied until there is a change in the overall expression, that we can be more than just a select template of a wrestler and as a human.

That we can all be the first and last of ourselves.

Val’s reaction is overwhelmingly positive, and Chris’s sweaty hands can tell that the nervousness to such moment has passed. Now all he can feel is the heat of the spotlight, and how to stay cool in such a defining moment that is about to forever change Val.

Valquist: This time, at Darkest Hour, I’m not giving my disgraced opponent any other option. I’m not engaging with him in any form or fashion, and every reaction from this moment will be just that. Nothing more than I expect. I’ll lower myself only to pull the beloved World Championship out of the mud that desecrates its golden eagled surface.

I am not asking anything of English, not this time. I will not force the issue that he must abandon his Orphans should he lose, or that he must be stricken from his path. He is already on course for damnation. My offering is more symbolic of the future, and what this company wants to be. I’ve been forced with a choice, not only by Isis, but by myself, that I can no longer be a part of this unless we stop living in the realm of reactionary. If there is no clarity to what I’ve been saying, and how I’ve been saying it this entire time, then it’s simple. The Visionaries of Wrestling does not deserve a Valquist. It will only deserve those holding your head in the mud. An English or a Carson.

Darkest Hour is my inevitability. My end or yours. Real change or nothing. Full Measures or an eternal existence living as a reaction. The Winter Pine has already flaked, and I’ll give English the chance to do what he has done to so many others. Provide finality. If I lose, my path is complete. If English loses, he isn’t worthy of a rematch. I’ll refuse it. This isn’t going to be match for Valquist against English. It’ll be a match against Infinity and everything.

Be something more, or something less.

A path golden, or a path broken.
