Visionaries of Wrestling United Kingdom Tour has been a great success so far and that success looks to continue as we roll into Cardiff, Wales for Breakthrough. It's going to be a special Proving Ground edition of Breakthrough as several young, hungry rising stars get their chance to go up against some of the established veterans of VoW. This afternoon, VoW.com has a special announcement for fans attending the Cardiff show. In attendance for a preshow meet and greet will be legendary Welsh wrestler Steve Llewellyn.
Steve Llewellyn is a name that needs no introduction to hardcore fans of the mat game. He's one of the last great European technicians, making his living first as an in ring competitor for companies all over the world and then going on to train several successful champions himself. Currently residing in Calgary, Alberta Mr. Llewellyn has become one of the leading historians of the wrestling business with appearances for CNN, MSNBC, Sports Illustrated and ESPN. This is a once in a lifetime chance for UK fans to pick the brains of one of wrestling's greatest minds.
“I haven't been home in years.” Llewellyn said via a conference call Sunday “It's a chance to get back to my roots, personally and professionally. There's a lot of fans of UK wrestling who, with the American products becoming so much more popular, could use a reminder of how things used to be.”
Of course, there's speculation from the fans that he has other reasons for attending Breakthrough. Llewellyn was the trainer of the new number one contender to the Zero Gravity Championship: Kincaid. Kincaid's made no secret of being dissatisfied with his career so far in VoW even though he's riding an undefeated streak toward a title shot. Could we see a confrontation between Student and Teacher in Cardiff?
“Oh, well, wouldn't want to ruin the surprise would we?” Llewellyn commented.
Tune in to Breakthrough to see what happens!
