Everyday people have secrets that they keep. Secrets that could either hurt a certain individual or mold an individual. Either way, keeping a secret from the ones that you love could lead to a damaging situation later on down the line. The only question you should ask yourself is are they worth it.

A week ago, Valerie and Todd drove down to California as her good friend Zoey was in the hospital. As she was visiting her friend, Todd would get a phone call. It's wasn't unusual for him to get phone calls since he is Valerie's agent as well as guardian but this phone call in particular was one he never expected to receive. "Hello," he whispers into the mouthpiece as he tries not to disturb the hospital staff. "Hello, I am looking for a Todd Willingham," replies a voice from the other end. "You're speaking to him," he replies back while keeping an eye on Valerie. "I see, well I hope you are doing okay today Mr. Willingham," responds the voice as Todd tries to turn his torso away from the window.
"I am doing alright. May I ask why you are calling? he responds back. "I am calling on behalf of Larry Kinsberg," answers the voice as Todd glides his hand over his bald head. "What does Larry want?" asks Todd. "He wants to go over your case again. A new development has popped up and he wants to discuss with you," answers the voice. "What new development? I thought it was an open and shut case," replies Todd as he slowly begins to pace back and forth.
Valerie notices this as she is talking to Zoey about things happening with her. "What is he doing?" she asks herself as the nurse looks over at her. "Im sorry ma'am did you say something," she asks as Valerie shakes her head. "No, I'm just talking to myself," she answers while returning to her conversation with Zoey.
Meanwhile, Todd is getting very upset with the conversation he is having on the phone. "I am sorry sir, I can't share that kind of information with you," says the voice as Todd's eyes are filling up with tears. "What the hell does that mean? You just said there is a new development with my divorce case now I want to know what that development is, replies Todd who is visibly shaken up by this news. "I am sorry Mr. Willingham but under these circumstances, I can't divulge anything more over the phone," responds the voice as Todd slides his hand over his head again. "No, I won't accept that answer. You are going to tell m...," midway through Todd's verbal response the phone clicks on the other end as Todd looks at his phone. "Hello," he says once into the receiver but gets nothing. "Hello," he repeats as he still gets nothing. "Dammit!" he shouts as three members of the hospital staff look over at him.
He he puts his hand up while mouthing "I'm sorry" too them while shoving his phone into his pocket. After doing this, he takes a few minutes to collect his thoughts before making his way towards Zoey's room. When he walks back inside, he can see Valerie and Zoey having a good laugh as Val is gripping Zoey's hand. He stands there few a more minutes before clearing his throat. That sound causes Valerie to whip her head around to see Todd standing there. "Todd, I didn't even see you come back inside," says Valerie as she continues to hold Zoey's hand. "I know. I didn't want to interrupt your conversation. I know you two have become very close in a short amount of time," replies Todd as he leans up against the wall.
Valerie takes a minute to listen to how Todd was speaking as she quickly rose to her feet. "Is everything okay Todd?" asks Valerie as the question short of catches him off guard. "Yes, everything is just peachy," answers Todd as the terminology he just used raises more of a concern for Valerie. "Are you sure?" she asks again. "We gotta go," is how he answers as the tone even catches Zoey by surprise. Valerie takes a second to look back at her friend then back at Todd. "What is going on Todd?" asks Valerie again as she takes a few steps closer toward him. "We just got to go home," he vaguely answers while walking out of the room.
Valerie stands there with her hands outstretched toward the sky while looking back at Zoey. She gives her a hug before walking out of the room. The scene slowly begins to fade as Todd is back on his phone as Valerie looks on.
