Jerry Heisenberg: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Now introducing....

The arena turns black. On the screen, scenes of post-apocalyptic landscapes haunt the darkness. Over the speakers an eerie synth-pad sets the mood as a deep, raspy voice begins speaking.

“The car's on fire and there's no driver at the wheel and the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides and a dark wind blows."

Jerry Heisenberg: Hailing from Tampa, Florida, she stands at 5'7" and weighed in at 130lbs...

"The government is corrupt and we're on so many drugs with the radio on and the curtains drawn. We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death. The sun has fallen down and the billboards are all leering and the flags are all dead at the top of their poles."

Jerry Heisenberg: DATURA!!!

A chorus of string instruments begins to play a melancholic tune as a pale spotlight rushes to the top of the stage. There, it falls on Datura, dressed in a pair of tight dark jeans and a black hoodie. She stops at the top of the ramp and stares out into the darkness of the crowd and the sea of boos that flood from it.

"It went like this: The buildings tumbled in on themselves, mothers clutching babies, picked through the rubble and pulled out their hair. The skyline was beautiful on fire, all twisted metal stretching upwards everything washed in a thin orange haze.”

Elizabeth makes her way down the ramp. The silhouette of hands reaching out to grab her can be seen on the outskirts of the spotlight. Datura ignores them as she makes her way to the steps.

Ruby Parvati: It's hard to pick a winner here, but with Casanova's recommendation I am going to have to get behind Winter Pin here tonght Axel.

“I said: "kiss me, you're beautiful - these are truly the last days. You grabbed my hand and we fell into it like a daydream or a fever."

Axel Reid: Well we have two woman who are lunatics going one on one; so I'll make it interesting a pick Datura here Ruby. Did you want to make a wager?

Ruby Parvati: Oh come on! You'll have to try harder than that to get me naked.

The strings slow. Datura trudges up the stairs and stands on the apron. She cracks her neck and under the top rope. She makes her way to the corner of the ring and places her hands on each side. She unzips her hoodie, slides it off, and averts her gaze to the sky... until Winter pine nearly rips head head off with a closeline. Winter looks to the ref, and he swallows hard as Datura slowly pulls herself to her feet with Pine stalking her. The ref signals for the bell albeit reluctantly.

DING! DING! DING!

Axel Reid: What a cheap shot from Winter right there.

Ruby Parvati: You know how she loves to please Axel. She heard what Casanova said before this match and she is ready to prove her worth and loyalty.

Winter is laying rights backing Datura to the corner. Pine grabs Datura and Irish whips her, but Datura reverses it Irish whipping Winter Pine into the opposite corner. Datura comes running with a splash that Winter Pine side steps. Pine headbutts Datura, then a dropkick, but she is still standing. Winter spears Datura to the mat and lays some nice shots from the top for good measure.

Ruby Parvati: Pine getting an early advantage here! Datura beter find an answer quick. OH! She is not going to find an answer on the bottom of Winter Pine's foot. She just stomped the gut of Datura hard there.

Pine pulls Datura up by the head Pine kicks Datura in the stomach and bicycle kicks the back of her neck sending Datura to the ground. Winter smirks again lifting up Datura this time a kick the the shin, now the other shin. Now the stomach, now a spinning back. . .

Axel Reid: Absolutely scouted! Datura ducks the spinning back fist and nails a back suplex that has Winter Pine surprised and laid out so Datura herself can gain some breath. These fans may not be found of either of these women, but they are on their feet for that reversal Ruby.

Datura is the first one up now and Winter gets to her knees, only to find a well placed knee to the jaw sending her back to the prior location. Datura now picks pine up and delivers a devastating devil-lock DDT. The crwod thinks that Datura is going to cover, but she doesn't. She picks up Pine and locks her in a belly to belly, she moves close to the turnbuckle though and suplex's Pine directly into the corner. Datura pulls Pine by one leg from the ropes and makes the cover.

Ruby Parvati: NO! Come on Winter you can't let English down.

Pine throws a shoulder up shortly after the count of two. Pine battles from her knees back to her feet pummeling the stomach of Datura. Datura comes back trying for a kick to the head, but it his Pine lower on the shoulder having little effect. Winter reaches an arm out and pulls Datura into her unleashing a devastating cravate suplex that sends Datura across the ring allowing Pine time to regain her stamina.

Ruby Parvati: The match is back and forth already and we have witnessed some amazing moves. It is hard to believe that here in VoW this is our opening match. It just speaks to the amount of talent we have on this roster.

Axel Reid: I have to agree with you there Ruby. The talent pool in VoW is deeper then anywhere else in the industry. Oh, here we go... Pine is grabbing hold of Datura once again.

Winter grabs Datura and now nails a superb swinging neckbreaker that ragdolls Datura. Pine looks as if she is about to go for the cover, but she heads to the top rope now. Datura holds the back of her neck and is slowly getting up.

Axel Reid: What is Winter's plan here?

Ruby Parvati: Blockbuster neckbreaker!!! That is what she was planning Axel. She is going to tear the head off of Datura here tonight and bring it back to The Orphanage as a trophy.

Winter smirks as she rolls Datura over pushing an elbow hard into her neck as she makes the pin fall....

Axel Reid: A kick out by Datura, and Pine seems to be losing it now.

Pine is stomping all over Datura who lies on the ground, Pine just keeps striking Datura who rolls up trying to defend herself. Finally, Pine backs up letting Datura get to her feet. She runs and...

Axel Reid: Another belly to belly from Datura!

Pine is sent into the corner and almost out of the ring with a belly to belly out of no where. Datura is to her feet now snapping her attention to Winter who is using the corner to get back up, that is until Datura drives shoulder into Winter Pine's gut over and over, and over. Datura cracks The Black Wolf with a few rights before helping Winter sit on the top rope.

Ruby Parvati: This is looking rather dangerous Axel. I don't know if either one of them is going to like the outcome of this.

Datura jumps up on Pine's shoulder and pulls her off the top rope with a hurricanrana. The crowd pops for the move as Pine bounces off the mat below.

“VoW! VoW! VoW!”

Axel Reid: What a contest so far Ruby.

Ruby Parvati: Come on Winter, get up. Win this for Cass and Robinson!

Pine is sitting up now shaking her head, for Datura to be heading across the ring with a knee specially deliverd. Pine lays down and Datura hits the ropes belly first surprised as she comes off she finds herself in a roll up at the hands of Winter Pine.

Ruby Parvati: Wow close on there Winter almost out smarted Datura Axel.

Both woman are to their feet again and they are exchanging lefts and rights, the lock up and Datura slips in behind Pine. Winter drops and slips between the legs of Datura now kicking her in the ass sending her forward as she comes through. Datura spins around with a haymaker, but Winter ducks pulling Datrua in for a belly to belly of her own. Datura hook the leg preventing the suplex and stomps the tow of Pine breaking the grapple. Datura hits a kick to the back of the knee and tries for a buzzsaw kick that is ducked. Pine goes for a roll up again.

Ruby Parvati: I don't think we have witnessed a more even match here in VoW Axel. This opening contest is turning into a classic. Winter just has to hang in here, she can outlast Datura I know it.

Axel Reid: Both of these woman desperately want the win here in Morgantown.

Winter and Datura are back up, but Winter is dazed. She gets pulled into it.

Axel Reid: Torn Apple Driver!

Winter gouges the eyes of Datura breaking the hold and reversing it with a move in her arsenal very similar to Datura's.

Ruby Parvati: She hit Whiteout! That is it! One more move and Datura is put away. Winter can beat Datur a get a major win, and make Casanova proud. She can show right here that The Orphanage is the most powerful entity in VoW!

Winter stalks Datura letting her get to her feet Datura uses the corner to get to her feet slolwy shaking her head back and forth and this is when Winter come basting from behind with Frostbite. At the very last second Datura ducks and Winter hangs herself up on the second rope pad. Datura grabs a handful of hair taking full advantage of the situation and drops Winter with an inverted DDT!

Jerry Heisenberg: Here is your winner... DATURA!!!

Axel Reid: Wow! What a win for Datura and what a way to start Breakthrough #49.

Ruby Parvati: It could have gone either way really, but Winter should have put Datura away!

The camera focuses in on the look of disappointment that washes over Winter Pine's face as she looks on in disdain at Datura's hand being raised. Datura then steps around Winter and exits the ring, leaving the Orphanage member to simmer in defeat just before the scene changes...

We return to the backstage area, coming to the main private exit of the building. As seen moments before after her brief conversation with her friends in Casa De Kami, Zahara wasn't her usual smiley self. While she managed a wave or two toward people who greeted her as she moved through the backstage area, the magician was lost in her own thoughts. The amount of people moving about thinned out as she neared the exit of the arena, perhaps preparing to take her leave of the place for the night seeing as how her friends' match had already taken place.

?: Leaving so soon, buttercup?

Axel Reid: Oh, anyone but this woman...

Zahara stops in her place to the familiar voice from someone who makes her blood curdle, turning around and finding standing behind her with a hand on her shoulder being the lady of The Orphanage, Winter Pine. The magician's golden eyes turn to the hand, then back to the woman it was connected to. Her jaw sets and with a jerk of her shoulder she shrugs the hand off.

Ruby Parvati: Zahara better watch herself with this woman. She's dangerous. Part of her charm.

Zahara Matisse: What do you want, Winter?

Winter Pine: My... testy little girl this evening. What's got your panties in a bunch? All that cheer you usually possess... I can't even smell it on you for once.

Zahara Matisse: And why would you care anyway? Let me make something clear to you, Pine...

Turning all the way around, Zahara takes a step closer to the Black Wolf, her stare narrowing sharply.

Zahara Matisse: ...this is a REAL bad time to be taunting me. And I won't be responsible for what I do if you push me too far. People think they can say or do whatever they want and I'll just smile and dance and let it slide. Well... that time is over.

Winter Pine: Oh, on the contrary. I actually DO care in this instance, sweetie. My heart isn't that black. If it was I'd have killed that little raven-haired skank of a friend when I had the chance. Let's chat away the trouble. Talk to your good buddy Winter.

Axel Reid: 'Good buddy'? Is this woman for real?

Ruby Parvati: Ya got me. I can't imagine what sense there is in spending more than a few seconds with this magician myself.

She snorts. She can't help it. What Winter said in that moment was patently hilarious.

Zahara Matisse: Good buddy? Are you serious?

It was a faint shadow of a smile and it didn't last longer than a few moments... but it was there.

Zahara Matisse: Seeing what you've done since you arrived here, I have a lot of trouble believing you want to be anyone's friend that isn't already in the Orphanage or is about to be. Sorry, but I'm going to have to decline.

The magician turns to walk away.

Winter Pine: The blonde stole something from you, believe it or not you and I are more alike than you think you simple minded brat. The difference is, you just still give a crap about it all, where as I have coped with the pain for years dear Zahara. So tell me again I don't care when I go though all this trouble just to say that when I could just not bother and go be with my King.

Stopping in her tracks, Zahara turns enough to look over her shoulder.

Zahara Matisse: ...talk, then.

Winter Pine: I just did, I'm waiting for you to share now. I want to know more about why you are this way, and maybe give you advice no one else is brave enough to give you.

Zahara Matisse: Y'know what? Fine.

Turning around fully, Zahara faces Winter again.

Zahara Matisse: Zelda DID take something from me. Something I can never have back. And I'm angry about that. Angry enough that for a moment I became a monster and did something I can never take back. Ever. Any idea what that's like?

Winter closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, then opens them back up to Zahara.

Winter Pine: Fully, or at least, a mixed bag of that. Your little blonde shit you girls defend so much, that whore stole my heart, she stole my ability to comprehend what love is because of the way she broke it as such a young age, and with that I made a lot of mistakes. I misjudged love, I misjudged how it works, it even messed with my ability to comprehend grief. Because of that, there was a time I screwed up and could have lost Matthew, I became a monster and betrayed him. And not only that, I have to live each and every day as the woman you see now, the evil being you all label me as. I have to do the things that yes, from time to time, fill me with regret and I know I can't take those actions back. But the blonde, she broke me...she breaks everyone she loves eventually, she even managed to break Tyler, he was lucky to get out before it got worse.

Winter slowly approaches Zoey again and strokes her hair, smiling devilishly.

Winter Pine: She will have no problem whatsoever betraying your trust again...and before you know it, everything you love will be but a distant memory of pain. It starts with her. The raven tramp will follow, as will the former Saint City child and the poly whore. Then the twinkle of the Falsified Chaos babies... your love... she will leave, and with that you are forced to start over.

Zahara Matisse: ...no.

Grabbing Winter's wrist before it retreats from her hair, Zahara shakes her head sharply from side to side, staring hard at the Black Wolf in front of her.

Zahara Matisse: I will not lose Katalina. You don't know what you're talking about when it comes to her.

Winter Pine: I know what I speak of because I was what you are now! It all dominos down...maybe at some point, you will suffer the same fate as I, watching your everything riding the opposite sex like the little whore I know women of her profession are. You will cry, beg even, and yet you wish it can still be worked on. But it can't be, she will defy your trust permanently, I mean this with the blonde is only the beginning! And when all is said and done...you are going to wish you listened to this evil witch...if you are lucky MAYBE I will listen...but I think I'll enjoy more laughing at your pity and wondering why I showed care for such a stupid little hobbit like you.

Axel Reid: Oh... that might have been the wrong thing to say.

Ruby Parvati: Like Zahara has the guts to lay a hand on Winter... oh. Um... okay, maybe you're right...

Already on edge from the get, Zahara has heard enough. She shoves Winter's arm away and rears back as if to strike her, only to be cut off by the massive arm of the counterpart of the Black Wolf, Matthew Robinson, as he grabs hold of Zoey's fist and pushes her to the wall with a huge smile.

Matthew Robinson: What a shame when those plans of yours don't go smoothly, huh?

Ruby Parvati: Saved by the hunk! Whew!

Axel Reid: Figures that Robinson would be lurking around! I mean, why let Winter Pine fight her own battles?!

The Punisher easily overpowers the surprised Zahara, and she finds herself staring up at him wide-eyed for a moment or two... before attempting to wrench her wrist out of his grip.

Zahara Matisse: Take your hand off of me!

Matthew Robinson: Why, so you can lay a hand on my Queen, to try and hurt a God? This is VoW, you know the repercussions of an attack on someone, and I know you actually give a shit unlike me.

That strikes a chord and the magician's other arm, which had been cocked back to swing at Robinson, slowly lowered while she muttered something to herself in Italian that... was probably less than pleasant.

Zahara Matisse: Let go.

Winter Pine: Go on ahead, Matthew, free her. She knows better than to try and swing at me now. Plus, I don't want you scaring her too much before Heatstroke, it's going to be a busy night for us all.

Zahara Matisse: What's that supposed to mean?!

Axel Reid: What is she talking about?

Ruby Parvati: If you shut up you might hear what it's about.

Robinson finally releases Zahara, stepping away from her as Winter smiles and laughs a little under her breath.

Winter Pine: Considering how sad management is in this company sometimes, I'm not surprised you haven't heard the news. I expressed a bit of frustration with Mr. Omega earlier today, mostly to do with the fact I have not yet been scheduled for a match yet for the upcoming Pay-Per-View. And considering that I was a winner of the co-main event of the biggest event in VoW, and my future husband is just by far one of the greatest men of all time, we demanded a match and for once somebody running the show did something about it. He gave us what we wanted. At Heatstroke, Animal Instinct...

Matthew Robinson: That's us by the way, if you seem to have forgotten...

Winter Pine: Will be taking on the lovely Magician with a Pay-Per-View record that quite frankly I wouldn't write home to my mother about, and a partner of your choosing. Problem here is, knowing all the people who are going to turn their backs on you, I can absolutely guarantee you won't find a suitable partner by the time we get to the event. No worries in that regard though, as Matthew and I will have no problem asking if Ryan can go ahead and reschedule the match as a handicap match so you don't have to miss out on the fun of facing wrestling royalty.

Well, that was... worrisome. Zahara rubs her freed wrist for a moment, staring at the duo across from her, concern etched on her face. A voice then cuts in from off-camera.

Axel Reid: The temerity of these two knows no bounds! It figures they'd try to set themselves up in a two-on-one against Zahara to ensure an easy win!

Ruby Parvati: Did you forget she's on a losing streak right now, Axel? One of them would be more than enough but that's what people who are in love do. They share.

Axel Reid: Of course you're okay with this...

?: That won't be necessary.

The view pans around to show the Xcel Champion herself, Constance Chapin, walking up to the three. She stops at the side of Zahara and passes a sideways glance to the magician before turning back to a perplexed Robinson and Pine.

Constance Chapin: She has a partner, so if you want to prove your dominance so badly... well... you'll test your chance in a fair fight. If you two still remember what such a thing is.

Zahara's a bit too surprised to say anything and too careful to take her eyes off Animal Instinct for more than a second. She gets over her momentary shock after a moment, though, and locks eyes on her adversaries.

Zahara Matisse: Sounds like we have a match, then. And I think I'm going to enjoy this a lot more than I should.

Winter Pine: Oh the enjoyment will definitely be there, child, but rather from Matthew and I. It's not every day I get to not only teach a lesson to someone who doesn't care to listen to me...but also put my name in a title hunt I should already be top of the class in. Good luck finding chemistry with the woman who actually began your emotional struggles more than that blonde, just remember who kept you from your holy grail that is the Xcel Title. Matthew, we have business to attend to...

Matthew Robinson: Indeed we do, my Queen. See you two at Heatstroke... beware of the animals.

With that, Winter and Matthew make their way off, Winter taking it upon herself to squeeze in between Zoey and Constance on her way while shoving the two women. Normally that could be seen as an instigator for a fight, but the Black Wolf and Punisher are gone before the anger is fully mustered up. After this exchange has taken place and the atmosphere settles, we return to ringside.

Axel Reid: Respect meet disrespect. I think Zahara got the best partner she possibly could have in the form of Constance Chapin! But will they be able to work together well enough to take out Animal Instinct.

Ruby Parvati: Chances are... no. But I'll still enjoy watching them try.

We return to see a not so familiar locker room of the Lady Joker herself, Gwendolyn Massey. Dressed and ready for combat, she is standing there in front of the camera doing her usual shadow boxing to the fans' delight as the cheers are heard from the arena. It isn't until a hand reaches out and touches her shoulder that the fans go from cheers to wolf whistles when Gwendolyn’s lady friend, Mireya Bertinalli, comes into view with a big smile on her features.

Mireya Bertinelli: Hey you. The security team let me back stage to see you before you had your match later on tonight. Are you excited?

Gwendolyn Massey: Honestly, I don’t know how to feel at this moment. Sure, I am.. but deep down, I just want this match to be over and done with. I was supposed to be speaking with Zahara, but I believe she has her own s-bleep- to deal with... like myself. Constance is a great champion... here in VoW, she is well respected but tonight, I am going to give them something to talk about and it won’t be how I am heading into Heatstroke without the momentum that I need. Look at everyone else in the Quest For The Case Match. Some of them don’t even care anymore. I do though. I intend on making the most out of this and showing not only VoW... but the world that even the people in the main event don’t have s-bleep- on what I am about to start stirring up soon.

Mireya Bertinelli: I know. Listen, Ayana. Win or lose, you are going to do great tonight. Remember that, okay? You are going to go out in front of those people, including myself, and show the world what happens when the Lady Joker is actually serious about something. You aren’t a favorite, you are not someone that VoW is really high on right now – but you will be. Just do me a favor though?

Gwendolyn Massey: -- What’s that?

Moving closer to her, Mireya whispers something into her ear, which makes the Lady Joker’s eyes widen a little bit before she moves away from her.

Mireya Bertinelli: And have fun. You haven’t had a chance to smile in the ring like you used to. Constance is going to give you what you want, what you expect. So smile a little, yeah?

Giving Gwendolyn a hug, Mireya walks out of view and Massey just runs her fingers through her hair, smiling as she resumes her shadow boxing ritual. We then return to ringside.

Axel Reid: Constance Chapin is indeed a great champion, but the Lady Joker Herself is a great wrestler as well.

Ruby Parvati: When she gets serious, you know interesting things are going to happen. I can't wait!

In the backstage area of Stansbury Hall in Morgantown, West Virginia, the ever present Backstage Interviewer Darius Yates is rushing with a camera crew. There is a lot of cheering amongst a rabid fan base outside of the arena. Darius and his team rush to see that none other than Valquist stands in the cold, with a mass of adoring fans in his shadow. The first thing Darius does is raise a microphone below his lips, finally having a chance to encounter the vanquished wrestler.

Darius Yates: Valquist, what are you doing here? We’ve been chasing you like shadows for weeks, but you vanish quicker than you arrive. It’s a question the world has been meaning to ask. You’re supposed to be retired.

Valquist takes the microphone in a polite manner drom Darius, smiling, before he turns to about fifty Visionaries supporters, with none directly touching the former World Champion.

Valquist: The dead don’t talk, Darius. They demand the attention so they can perform action. To the world I have been nothing more than a ghost, so I have obliged and welcomed the attraction. Retirement or not, my fame is of infinite measure, and in infinite place. I’ve asked Kincaid for the respect of a match at Heatstroke, so I can help prevent his descent, but he is obstructed.

Darius Yates: So what is next for Valquist? There has been no formal announcement of a match with Kincaid. Did you really expect it to be easy to walk back in?

Valquist: Never, but we live in a business that relies on traditional principles. If a man wants to fight, let him fight. Never say never. The dead never stay buried. My only crime is commitment. This federation for a long time has been my home and my resting place. If Kincaid won’t listen, then I hope management finally do. They’re going to announce the final Heatstroke card tonight, and it is my only wish to see my name included.

Darius Yates: Just a word on your opponent, Kincaid. What has been your frustrations regarding the delay?

Valquist: Kincaid’s not scared, he isn’t the type of wrestler that runs. In fact, I think my respect for the guy has led me down this path. He could end up like me, and that is something I’m not willing other stars to endure. I’ll knock some sense into him at Heatstroke, that this fire isn’t the end of everything. I’m just imploring management to make the right decision. Book the match. Let two honest wrestlers fight, and allow a path back for The Valquist.

Darius Yates: Good luck with your endeavours, Val.

Valquist: See you at Heatstroke, Darius.

Valquist turns to face his supporters and begins signing merchandise whilst VOW’s backstage personality takes directly to the camera’s eye with an exclusive.

Darius Yates: You heard it from the man himself. Valquist has pegged for management to book his match with Kincaid at Heatstroke and he’s awaiting his presence at the close of tonight’s card. Will Val’s wish come true, or will he remain retired in the Visionaries of Wrestling?

The camera lingers on Darius for a moment before it pans to the back of Valquist, amongst his people on the outside of the arena. We then fade to another commercial break.

Ruby Parvati: Here we go, Axel! The Lady Joker Herself against Ms Brooding Serious!

Axel Reid: I believe it will be Mrs soon enough actually, Ruby.

Ruby Parvati: ... Everyone is getting married but me...

The lights begin to flicker on and off all around the arena before completely engulfing the VoW Universe in nothing but darkness. Static is heard coming from the arena speakers following the drums. The lights flicker to the beat of the instruments as the big screen follows suit, revealing a silhouette of a female with her hair hiding her facial features and a hood over her head.

Dun Dun – Dun Dun - Dun Dun Dun

The beat begins to pick up and laminated by the flickering lights is a figure which is kneeling down before the arena goes back completely black once again. The loyalist begin to go into a frenzy for the speculated person as the lights completely go off and after a moment of silence, they turn back on. The light focuses on the young woman who slowly rises to her vertical base; raising her head and her hand up before the big screen exposes the name Gwendolyn Massey across it. It is welcomed by the fans who support her who began to cheer for her as '2 Am' by Ramsey begins to play throughout the arena.

Looking all around her as a small smirk appears on her face, she looks over to her left and then to her right at the fans before removing her hood and exploded from her position – pointing towards the ring mouthing 'That is MY Asylum!!' as she begins her descent to the ring. Turning around, she extends her hands out to show off her hoodie which says 'The House of Joker - EST. 1990. Simple, Right?' As she is walking down, she stops by a couple of fans who have signs up about The Lady Joker before she nods her head and continues.

Jerry Heisenberg: The following contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, hailing from San Francisco, California... "THE LADY JOKER" GWENDOLYN MASSEY!!!

At night I discover there’s a method to this

Stopping in front of the ring, Gwendolyn looks around once again before staring down the ring. Walking towards the steps, she stands on the apron with her arms extended as she looks out towards the universe yelling out 'Second to NONE!'.

He won’t let me come down
My love is sold out
It’s 2am now run the red lights
I’m fucked up going crazy
Too young to save me
Born in the sin I deliver the night

Stepping in between the ropes, Gwendolyn heads towards the turnbuckle. Giving the fans a slight smirk as she removes her jacket and then her hood before throwing it into the crowd. She then jumps back off the turnbuckle and sits down in the corner; waiting for the bell to ring with that patented Lady Joker smirk on her features.

Axel Reid: There we see Gwendolyn Massey, a woman who has made an instant mark in VoW by nailing herself one of the spots in the Quest for the Case!

Ruby Parvati: Wouldn't put it past her to continue surprising everyone here tonight...

Axel Reid: Yes, but she has a considerable challenge on her hands...

Before Axel can complete his sentence, a familiar theme song starts up on the arena speakers:

Ain't you getting bored with these fake ass broads
I shows and proves, no doubt, how predictably so
Please excuse, if I come across rude
That's just me

As the beat plays and the rhymes flow, the crowd starts to cheer as from behind the curtain comes the apathetic hipster herself, Constance Chapin, accompanied as always by her fiancee, Emily. Constance walks toward the ring, making no rush to get there and making no acknowledgements towards the crowd. Her steps are quicker than before, moving in time to the beat; she'd be toe tapping if it wasn't such a tacky thing to do. Still she walks close to the sides, letting eager fans pat her on the shoulder or arm as she walks past them.

Jerry Heisenberg: And her opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Emily Darcy, hailing from Manchester, England... she weighed in at 148lbs... she is the current XCEL CHAMPION... CONSTANCE CHAPIN!!!

Arriving at the ring, Constance takes the steps and then steps into the ring by going through the top and middle ropes. Inside the ring as the announcer is introducing her, Constance removes a pair of black finger-less gloves that are tucked into the waist of her bottoms and slips them on, preparing herself.

Axel Reid: And there's that challenge I was talking about...none other than our Xcel Champion!

Ruby Parvati: This is one heck of a contest right here, Axel. I can't call a winner to this one.

Axel Reid: I don't think anyone in this arena can...

As the announcers speculate, the two women give each other a cautious nod of acknowledgment, though no handshake is forthcoming. No amount of wheedling from Emily can make Constance shake Gwen's hand, and 'the Lady Joker' does not seem too concerned with that fact. As such, the two eventually settle for the respect nod, before starting to circle. A moment later, they lock up, kicking off the match proper!

Almost immediately, Gwendolyn tries to take the match to the ground, but is thwarted when Constance goes behind and sets up a suplex. Gwen responds by doing the same, and goes to lift Constance, but once again, the Mancunian is quickest; she slips behind the Lady Joker and throws her over with a German suplex! The fans applaud as the two women roll through to their feet!

Axel Reid: Constance Chapin draws first blood, but that right there was an example of what we can expect from this bout!

As the two competitors stand up, Constance hangs back and waits for Gwendolyn's next move; the Lady Joker, however, gives credence to her credentials by pulling off a surprise clothesline, knocking the Mancunian down. Constance begins to get up, but is hit with another, on the rebound! Gwen bounces off the opposite set of ropes, and catches her quickly-recovering opponent with a third! This time, Constance goes down for good, but not for long; soon, Gwendolyn is picking her up again and delivering a snap suplex! She bridges it, and the referee counts the first pin of the match!

Axel Reid: Too early for a bridging pin...Constance still has plenty of stamina left to kick out of it.

Ruby Parvati: Worth a try...you never know...

The two women once again regain a vertical position, and Gwen seeks to continue her offensive momentum. Constance, however, is not about to get caught again, and slips out of the Lady Joker's grasp by way of a punch to the stomach. This rocks Gwen enough for Constance to break free and set her opponent up for a belly-to-belly suplex! It is Gwen's turn to react fast, however, and a forearm to Constance's face puts an end to the Xcel Champion's designs, and gives the momentum back to the Lady Joker!

Axel Reid: Do you see how absurdly matched these two are, Ruby?

Ruby Parvati: ...I see it...

Having halted Constance's offence and rocked her, Gwen wastes no time running in with a high knee strike! It sends the Xcel Champion reeling towards the ropes, and Gwen runs in looking to toss Constance to the outside with a big clothesline...

...only for the Xcel Champion to dodge and apply a Russian leg sweep, reversing the momentum yet again and sending Gwen sprawling forward towards the ropes! The fans' pitch rises as Constance leans in to pull Gwen back and apply her trademark Cobra Clutch!

Axel Reid: Uh-oh...Constance Clutch locked in, can she complete the mo--

...she cannot. Gwen rams a desperation elbow into her opponent's gut, and breaks the hold just long enough to regain momentum, and capitalises with a visually impressive rolling koppu kick! The crowd roars as Constance goes down, and Gwendolyn covers!

Axel Reid: Constance Chapin seemed out cold, but she was somehow able to kick out of that impressive move by Gwen Massey!

Ruby Parvati: Did you see the reflexes on that woman?

Despite the kickout, the devastating kick has given Gwen her first real opening in what has been thus far an incredibly even contest. The Lady Joker does not let it go to waste and, with her opponent already in a prone position, chooses to do what she does best: take it to the ground! The fans roar as she goes into a side mount, throws herself over the top of Constance, and applies a kimura shoulderlock!

Axel Reid: Gwendolyn Massey making use of that MMA background...

Ruby Parvati: ...which Constance doesn't have. This could mean trouble for her!

Constance may not have the MMA background, however, but she does have the intelligence and resilience to put up a fight. Feeling herself get caught in the shoulder lock, she manouevres quickly, hooking Gwen's leg with hers and shifting her body so that the Lady Joker is thrown over! In what is almost a single, swift movement, she then seeks to transition the kimura defence into her own submission, the figure-four leg lock known as Constance Sorrow!

Axel Reid: What reflexes from Constance Chapin, and could this be the decisive moment in this match?!

It is not. Though rattled by her opponent's break of the kimura, the Lady Joker is still sufficiently aware to wiggle her leg out of Constance's grip, instead connecting with a back heel kick to the Xcel Champion's face, from a semi-prone position!

Constance goes down once more, and Gwen has some time to recover her bearings. She crawls around on the mat for a moment, shaking the cobwebs, as all around her the fans erupt in applause for both women. Then, bearings regained and cobwebs shaken, she once again approaches the prone Constance, looking to wear her down with some more Mixed Martial Arts.

This time, she opts for a simple armbar, and wraps herself around Constance's left arm. The Mancunian, who is just regaining consciousness, feels it happen, and immediately starts stretching for the ropes.

Gwen, however, is not letting up, and the task proves more difficult than anticipated for the Xcel Champion. The camera closes in on Constance's strained expression as she reaches for the ropes, then to the outside, where Emily is offering loud words of encouragement. Surprisingly, Constance does not immediately rebuke her wife, as she would normally do; instead, she nods in acknowledgement of Emily's intimations, and redoubles her efforts to get to the ropes. Seeing this, Massey cinches the armbar in tighter...but just a second too late. With a mighty heave forward, Constance reaches the safety of the bottom rope! The crowd explodes in applause as the referee comes over to tell Gwen to break the hold, which the Lady Joker does only at the count of four. She then rolls to her feet, and approaches the now decidedly worn-down Constance Chapin.

Ruby Parvati: Intelligent strategy from Gwen. She knows she can't out-wrestle Constance at full power, so she's wearing her down...taking away her arm game. I've said it before, take away Constance's arms and you take away a good part of her offence.

Axel Reid: Actually, it's me who usually says that, but I'll allow it.

As the two announcers banter, in the ring, Gwen appraises Constance with an amused expression. She seems in no hurry to go on offence again, and as the Mancunian regains her bearings and stumbles away from the ropes, it becomes evident why. A swift motion sees an arm wrench transitioned into a Russian leg sweep, and from there quickly into another armbar! Now even further from the ropes than before, Constance is definitely in dire straits – but that will not prevent her from trying to reach the ropes!

Axel Reid: Gwen Massey going right back to the submission well, and in impressive fashion this time!

Ruby Parvati: That girl has lightning-quick reflexes, and Constance is struggling. That's probably her main weakness...she's used to taking her time, and a fast opponent has got to be screwing with her game plan!

Axel Reid: She's not a quitter, though! She's not giving up that easily!

Indeed, Constance does not seem willing to simply submit, and risks the health of her arm to attempt the perilous trek to the ropes. She inches her way across the mat as best she can, her progress halted at every step by Gwen Massey wrenching the hold in. Constance reaches for the ropes, but they have never seemed so far away. It looks like the Xcel Champion will not be able to make it, and the fans groan in despair as Constance gives up reaching for the ropes, and instead leaves her free hand hovering in mid-air for a moment...

...before balling it up into a fist and sending it hurtling into Gwen Massey's face!

The crowd roars as the Lady Joker, caught off-guard, flinches, and Constance directs another punch at her face! Gwen completely loses concentration, and releases the armbar. Constance is therefore able to slip free, but not before landing a third punch to her opponent's face!

Axel Reid: Constance displaying some enviable reflexes of her own! I guess she heard you, Ruby...

Whether or not that is the case is debatable; what is not debatable is that Constance has bought herself a few precious seconds. She scrambles to her feet and puts some distance between herself and Gwen, using the scant free time she has to check on the arm the Lady Joker has been working on. She wiggles it, to make sure it works, and has only just finished making sure that is the case when she is forced back into action, as her opponent has run in from behind!

The Xcel Champion is just in the nick of time to avoid Gwen's flying armbar attempt, and as a result The Lady Joker jumps into nothing, and lands back-first on the mat! Constance therefore has a few more seconds in which to recover and check on the condition of her arm, which she gratefully takes advantage of.

Axel Reid: Gwen Massey's attempt at putting One in the Chamber was unsuccessful, but the damage to Constance's arm seems well and truly done. We should see the Xcel Champion struggle from here on out...

Ruby Parvati: That could be the dealbreaker there, Axel. Gwen could shoot herself right into Constance's title picture, and all because she remembered to do her homework!

Axel Reid: For now, though, Constance is still hanging in there...

This much is true. Despite continuously checking on her arm, the Xcel Champion is still staunchly determined to continue the match, and even, as the announcers banter, going on offence. Now with the crowd firmly behind her, she picks Gwen up and goes to apply the Constance Clutch...only for the Lady Joker to counter with an elbow to the Champion's nose! Constance is rocked, but stays on her feet, and reacts quickly, setting Gwen up for a drop toe hold! The crowd roars as the move connects, and Constance begins to turn the Lady Joker over, wrapping her legs around her own!

Axel Reid: Constance Sorrow! Could this be it?!

NO! Gwen Massey manages to free one of her legs, and sends it shooting up to hit Constance in the chin! The Xcel Champion goes down like a ton of bricks, and The Lady Joker is right back in the match!

Ruby Parvati: There are those reflexes again! Gwen just saved herself!

Axel Reid: That she did. It is very hard to break out of the Constance Sorrow! That could have been it!

Ruby Parvati: Guess Gwen will have to work on Constance's legs now, too...

The crowd erupts in a chant of 'THIS IS AWESOME!' as The Lady Joker crawls on her hands and knees towards the nearest set of ropes. She hoists herself up, takes a moment to recover her bearings, then turns back around to face Constance. With her opponent still lying prone in the corner, Gwen thinks it best to play it safe, and simply drags Constance across to the center of the ring, where she covers. The refere drops down!

Axel Reid: Still some life left in Constance Chapin!

Ruby Parvati: I think that was reflexive, to be honest. She was completely out cold!

Gwen, however, does not seem too put out by Constance's resilience; on the contrary, she seems impressed. Still, she feels it is time to end the match, and begins setting up her bridging triangle choke, The Joker's Calling. Once again displaying astonishing awareness for someone in her condition, however, Constance manages to roll away, and does something highly uncharacteristical for her – she rolls to the outside!

Ruby Parvati: Constance Chapin taking a powder?! Now I've seen everything!

Axel Reid: You would too, if you had been fighting this gruelling of a match!

Ruby Parvati: ...yeah, okay, I totally would.

The fans are not too sure how to react as Constance takes a moment to recover on the outside, assisted as ever by her fussing fiancee. Once again surprisingly, Constance does not try to shoo Emily away, instead engaging in a whispered conversation with her better half as she checks on her various limbs.

They do not have long to confer, however, as a moment later, Gwen Massey displays her trademark unpredictability and launches into a moonsault plancha over the ropes. Constance, still groggy, does not see it coming, but Emily does; she pushes away her fiancee, then attempts to dive out of the way herself, but is not quick enough; Gwendolyn Massey lands directly on her!

Ruby Parvati: Oh dear, there goes the engagement...

Contrary to Ruby's assessment, however, Constance's first instinct upon getting to her feet is to limp over and check on Emily. She rolls Gwendolyn off the top of her fiancee, then helps Emily to her feet, all the while speaking to her in what is an inaudible but seemingly urgent tone. Emily, while groggy and clutching her head, seems cognisant, and nods in response to Constance's inquiries,

Ruby Parvati: Oh, so she DOES care!

...JUST manages to roll into the ring and beat the count!! The crowd roars as the referee signals that this match will continue!

Axel Reid: Constance almost cost herself a win, but this match continues!!

Ruby Parvati: I guess she was a...Lovefool! Get it?!

As Axel groans at the bad reference joke, the two women look set to continue their bout, much to the delight of the crowd. Chants of 'THIS IS AWESOME' once again begin to pervade the arena, as Constance steps towards her opponent and reaches in, bringing her to a vertical position. She then drapes her over her shoulders for...

Axel Reid: FISHERMAN'S CARRY...

...NO!!! Gwen slips off and pushes Constance off-balance! The Mancunian spins around quickly, trying to stay 'in' the match, and plays right into the Lady Joker's trap! Gwendolyn lunges forward with the rolling elbow she calls Remedy of Chaos...

...BUT CONSTANCE DODGES, spinning out of the way and popping up behind Gwen before she knows what is happening! She throws the Lady Joker over with a German Suplex and bridges! The referee drops down to count!

Constance's shoulders sag as a result of Gwendolyn's expert work on her arm, but she manages to keep the Lady Joker's down long enough for...

The crowd erupts, waiting to hear the familiar tones of 'No Diggity' and see the Xcel Champion's hand be raised at the end of another win...


...but that does not happen. Instead, the referee makes a series of confusing gestures, leaving the two women puzzled. A moment later, informed by the official, Jerry Heisenberg clarifies:


Jerry Heisenberg: Ladies and gentlemen, due to both competitors'' shoulders being on the mat at the moment the fall was counted, this match has been ruled... A DRAW!!!


An appreciative reaction ripples through the Morgantown arena as the two women, realising what has happened, shrug at each other, flashing the briefest of smirks as they do. They then share a quick handshake, in respect and appreciation of a match well fought, before each going their separate ways. The crowd, too, rewards their efforts with a rousing ovation, under which the competitors make their way to the back.

Axel Reid: The fairest of results in the closest of matches. Truly neither woman was the best here tonight, and as fate would have it, both leave Morgantown with a draw on their record!

Ruby Parvati: For once, I'm not complaining...

Axel Reid: You shouldn't. It was a heck of a match. But what's best, there's plenty more still to come here tonight, including a big tag match and an appearance by hometown hero, Seth Iser! Stay tuned, because there's plenty of action left as Breakthrough rolls on!

As Gwen and Constance digest the draw they'll now have on their records, the scene changes to a commercial break.

After the Xcel Energy sponsored advertisement, we return to see the dapperly dressed VoW General Manager Ryan Omega in the ring. Even with the stern business look, it’s hard to hide the specific concern etched on his face. The Morgantown audience is rabid though because it does mean only one thing that is coming up. Omega looks down at the table in the center of the ring with the black binder that holds the contents and the two office chairs opposite one another.

Ryan Omega: Last month... I had to make a hard decision in suspending two of the founding fathers of VoW for a show. And this is another hard decision I’ve had to make regarding two men who have an animosity that is unearthly. The lawyers, and Vincent Moretti both have looked over many details and I can say that the following match... while sanctioned for Heatstroke... this company will not hold liability for what these two men do to each other. In a Submission Only Match... and the last time you will see these two wrestle each other for over a year... we can hope... Matt Slater will go one-on-one with Seth Iser.

The audience lets out a roar of approval at the official word but there is still an uneasiness in Omega’s body language. He glances at the entrance ramp as a couple of security members walk down toward the ring and Omega just keeps a stern eye on them for a second.

Ryan Omega: God help both men for what they’ll do to each other.

As soon as Ryan speaks those final words... "Morning Glory" by Oasis plays throughout Stansbury Hall. In most places Slater would be a loud round of applause but in Morgantown he’s got a mixed reaction as he busts through the curtain with a steely expression on his face. The jeans and plain, sleeveless black t-shirt indicate how all business he is as he marches through knowing the task that is about to be at hand. He enters the ring and there is a look toward Omega as the two end up exchanging a quick handshake before Slater takes the far chair knowing what’ll happen.

Axel Reid: Matt Slater...and Seth Iser. At one point both shield and sword of The Court... now trying to stab their swords toward one another.

Ruby Parvati: Slater had every right to be suspended for interrupting Iser’s speech. Now he has to pay for his consequences.

Axel Reid: You’re forgetting that this isn’t the first time Iser has injured Slater’s neck. This is the third time. And I predict after the year is up...there’s a pretty good chance these two will end up drawn to one another.

Ruby Parvati: The ego of men is a fragile thing.

Slater waits seated, impatiently before "Gehenna" by Slipknot begins to play on the same system and what would normally be boos turns out to be mostly cheers for the hometown native. Soon enough Iser and Moretti lumber through with Moretti in a silver based suit with black around it and Iser going with the black base and a purple tie. There’s even a sign held up in the front row equating Iser to God but Iser isn’t even reacting to the people... his eyes are filled with pain and hatred toward Matt Slater as he lumbers toward the ring, pulling himself up by the ropes and the duo enter the ring. He doesn’t even look at Omega once as he takes the opposite seat and you see him put his feet on the table and moving his seat from side to side slightly. As soon as Iser settles in, Omega speaks again.

Ryan Omega: The lawyers and Moretti have all looked over the contract, gentlemen. You both know what the contents entail.

Seth Iser: One question.

Iser’s quick interjection surprises Ryan but Iser isn’t even making eye contact with the General Manager.

Seth Iser: You said it yourself. VoW can’t be sued for this. Meaning many things that are usual involving the company don’t apply. Correct?

Ryan Omega: Yes.

Seth Iser: Then the Black Magic by that definition... since you can’t be responsible for this match at the end... that would then be legal. I can’t be suspended if you wipe out consequences... right?

Ryan takes a moment to think... there is a smattering within the bloodthirsty audience that hopes for a specific answer as Iser finally moves his eyes to make eye contact with Omega and not all the history between those two men is good.

Ryan Omega: It wouldn’t be right to suspend you under that specific agreement. Those were the terms. For this match only... the Black Magic is perfectly legal.

Iser lets out a smirk as the audience roars in approval and Slater himself seems fine with the news. Iser’s eyes then turn to Slater.

Seth Iser: Before we sign our names...make ourselves richer than we already are with this contract...you need to listen to everything I have to say. And the people here also have to listen. Because this is important. Every step of the way...I’ve been right about you. This side existed long before the traumatic events of a certain someone’s passing happened. You’ve wanted to maim me in some capacity for three years now because what you think I represent to the sport when you’re no different than I am. You are just as ruthless as I am.

Slater titls his head slightly as Iser just glares right at him. Though if words could kill...the two would have already murdered each other.

Seth Iser: I found out how ruthless I was when I had two religious lunatics try to shove their God down my throat and I rebelled. They were my parents, Matt. And many people in my area...did the same thing and shunned me. They vilified me much like the audience fans vilify me today. And in a strange twist of fate the people cheering me now are many of the same people...who told me I wouldn’t make it until I had to do what I needed to in order to survive. The same survival instinct YOU have as well.

The audience moderately boos Iser’s assessment and at this point Iser breaks eye contact from Slater and turns to the hometown crowd that has started to turn on him.

Seth Iser: Hold on. You don’t like my truth speaking now that you have to confront it, right? You only cheer me because I’m from this place but I’m not like any of you people. I don’t worship a fake deity and tell people to turn the other cheek unless it is beneficial. I don’t abandon kids that think differently like you all did with me. I sure as hell am not voting for a Republican lunatic who asked why we don’t use nuclear weapons because I have more than three working brain cells and four teeth. And you all can take your bibles and put it where it belongs...in the fiction section because it doesn’t exist when you all along since the start should have kneeled at the altar of The Deity of Destruction.

Iser actually gets up on his feet as the audience begins a loud chanting of the vulgar "F-bleep_ you Iser" chant that nobody ever thought they would hear in Iser’s own hometown and this just fuels Iser even further.

Seth Iser: What a surprise...do you raise your kids with that kind of vulgarity and hypocritical attitude? Are you the ones who send those death threats to MY daughter? Hm? Is that how you people operate? Considering you put more stock in Noah’s unscientific ark and victimizing women rather than hear the truth of someone outside your bubble the culture of creating hatred starts and ends with you. And while I call Morgantown my home...I’m ashamed I have to share this town with you cretins for what you’ve done to me, to the kids, to the sport of wrestling, and to society itself.

Another loud chorus of boos as the audience has fully turned on Iser at this point and has even begun a ‘Slater’ chant in support of Slater and against Iser. At this point, Iser takes his seat back down and stares down Slater who isn’t responding too much to the audience and just glares in disgust at the man who just went on this reprehensible tirade.

Seth Iser: You’re ruthless like I am Matt when you have a goal in mind. And that goal for you has been to prove that you are a better wrestler than I am. It’s been what this has all been about for three years more than anything. I exposed what you’ve always been. I already got that. I’ve beaten you to a pulp and sent you stretchered out and I already have that and the people have seen both those things...even if they want to put a blinder to it. Just like these people put a blinder to me until I made it.

Another jab at the audience warrants an even louder chorus of boos for The Deity of Destruction and Iser just seems to relish in the hatred that he seems to have grown up in at this point. Slater raises his eyebrow at his psychologically disturbed rival.

Seth Iser: But I want something that is just between you and me, Matt. Something that you will take down to your deepest corridors when you look in the mirror and trigger the longest moments of depression you’ll ever have. And that is no matter how hard you try...no matter what you do...regardless of how many more times after our one year is up...that you are not better than Seth Iser. You are inferior to me as a wrestler. You’re inferior to me as a man. And you’re inferior to me as a father to your child.

The last comments sort of bring a twitch to Slater’s eye though he hides all of his actual emotion as the audience winces at the last sentence Iser makes.

Seth Iser: And Heatstroke is no exception. It’s going to be the longest night of your professional career because the tragedy of the former hero of Matt Slater will have yet another chapter written by the greatest author the squared circle has ever known in yours truly...Seth Iser. You’re going to experience some of the worst pain in your life...and then when you’re a bloodied mess in the hospital bed after the physical beating you’ve endured...you’ll find your son and tell him that Daddy is indeed inferior...to a man they have named The Deity.

Axel Reid: Good lord...this man is a disturbing human being.

With that last sentence Iser finally reaches for that black folder...and goes to the last page without taking his eyes off of Slater and signs the contract. Slater just stares down Iser as Iser slicks back his shortened black hair just so he can see the piercing hatred in his eyes. Slater then reaches over for the contract... a thoughtful expression on his face. Soon, for the first time since they all got there, he finally turns on the microphone.

Matt Slater: Seth. After this is all said and done... you will be the one living in reality as we know it. The audience roars in approval as you can see Iser seething and Moretti is twitching in anger for the first time as Slater signs the contract to the approval of the audience. And as an exclamation point...he throws the contract at Seth Iser! Iser just glares at the man with hatred as Moretti hijacks Iser’s microphone and Iser just looks at his manager for a second before he stomps over to get in Slater’s face and Matt pushes his chair out of the way to stand face to face with another old rival of his.

Vincent Moretti: You’re so full of s-bleep- that it isn’t even funny. You’re nothing more than a whiny coward and a bully who attacks retired wrestlers to get what he wants and whines and bitches when things don’t go as he planned. And it’s going to be funny when your sorry ass is strechered out once again by MY client, the best wrestler in the entire damn world...Seth I--

As Moretti goes to finish that statement, Slater springs into action and drops Moretti for the second time with the Raining Shadows to the approval of the audience!

Ruby Parvati: He can’t do that! He’s retired!

Axel Reid: Oh wait! Iser!

As Slater gets to his feet from the move, Iser has sprung into action himself, and right as Slater gets to his feet... one kick to the gut is enough to deter Slater, and right after that as fast as he could deliver it a Deprivation DDT follows and Slater is down in a heap!

Axel Reid: Deprivation DDT!

The audience begins to boo. Omega, being the main authority, starts waving for security right away as Iser in a rage pushes the table aside and starts to stomp to the outside. He glares at the ring announcer’s chair and Jerry Heisenberg runs for his life, startled and afraid of this mad man storming towards him.

Axel Reid: Oh God. Seth Iser has snapped! The rational man is acting on pure emotion and it’s the scariest thing you can ever see.

Ruby Parvati: A man’s ego is a fragile thing and Slater has wounded it one too many times. Get him Seth!

Iser snatches the free chair as Slater starts to stir from the DDT, but security mobs Iser and forces the chair from his hands. Omega is directing traffic from in the ring to get Iser out of the way. Moretti is being helped by other security members and while he is holding his head, loopy... he is also laughing at the misfortune of Slater as Omega is just glaring at Iser after the DDT. We do hear Iser yell very loudly without a microphone afterwards.

Seth Iser: Heatstroke Matt! No more excuses! Omega can’t protect your ass, and these security guards damn sure can’t protect your ass! YOU Matt, YOU will kneel at the altar of THE DEITY OF DESTRUCTION!

Slater tends to his neck in pain while trying to get up from the blow as fast as he can, and he can hear Moretti’s laughter even as the retired wrestler is being helped away by security. The fans even begin to throw a few things of debris at their former hometown hero, knowing he can’t retaliate with the entire army of security taking him back and away from the fallen Slater. Omega kneels by Matt and summons some helpers, who approach the ring and look after the former Silver Knight.

Axel Reid: The scariest thing I’ve ever seen, Ruby, was the look in Iser’s eyes. The man is so rational, so intelligent... but he’s lost his mind. He’s acting irrationally... emotionally. And he’s unstable. Nobody is safe at Heatstroke. Ruby... in a situation like this there might be a man who gets their hand raised... but at the end of this type of fight... there IS no winner. Again... nobody is safe from this type of rage.

Ruby Parvati: Most of all, Axel... Matt Slater is not safe at all at Heatstroke. It will end, Axel... but it may end permanently for him.

With Slater being treated for a possible neck injury, the scene changes to another commercial.

Jerry Heisenberg: The following contest is scheduled for one fall!

The drums of “Never Turn Back” by Crush 40 begin to play throughout the venue, alerting the fans that the next match is about to begin and causing them to cheer at the recognition of the song.

“Whoa, YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-AAA-AAAAAAAH!”

With much gusto, Katie Moicelle pops out from behind the curtain with a genuine smile on her face, beaming with confidence, with her future wife, Claire, trying to keep up right behind her.

Jerry Heisenberg: Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Claire Daniels... hailing from Crossville, Tennessee, she stands at 5’4” and weighed in tonight at 117lbs... “The Cumberland Jet…” KATIE MOICELLE!!!

“It’s been a long, rough road, but I’m finally here. I move an inch forward, it feels like a year. Everything I feel seems so unreal, is it true? Is it true?”

The couple walk down the aisle, slapping high fives with everyone in the cheering crowd that they possibly can. As soon as Katie gets to ringside, she runs and slides into the ring face-up under the bottom rope. She gives the crowd a thumbs-up as “Never Turn Back” fades out and she awaits her opponent.

“The Pride” by Five Finger Death Punch then pulsates from the speakers. A solitary figure in what appears to be two flannel shirts, one on and the other tied around her waist, appears at the entry. She carries a pair of drumsticks, which she holds over her head making an ‘X’. She begins a walk to the ring to the beat of the song, head and shoulders back.

Jerry Heisenberg: And her opponent... hailing from the Isle of Palms, South Carolina, standing at 5’5” and weighing in at 130lbs... JESSICA E. MATHIS!!!

Upon arrival at ringside, she pauses to drum a few moments on the ring apron before hopping up and rolling under the bottom rope. Jessica gets to her feet and looks first at the referee, then out to the crowd. She shrugs, indifferently, and unties the shirt at her waist, revealing silver shorts with pink trim. Next, she removes the top shirt, revealing a vest design top in matching silver with pink trim and pink laces tying the vest top together across her upper body. Her boots are silver with pink soles, the letters ‘J E M’ running front to back on the outsides of the boots, the letters in black trimmed with pink.

The two women stare at each other for a few moments, sizing each other up before the referee calls for the bell to start the match.

DING! DING! DING!

In a gesture of sportsmanship, Jessica extends her hand to Katie. Katie ponders for a moment before responding to the gesture by shaking her hand. Suddenly while still holding onto her hand Mathis whips Katie around applying a hammerlock. Moicelle swings her free elbow back hitting Mathis in the face, allowing her to reverse the hold into a hammerlock of her own.

Axel Reid: Reversal there by Katie Moicelle.

Ruby Parvati: She wouldn’t have had to reverse anything if she hadn’t been dumb enough to shake hands, Axel. I mean, how many times has that backfired?

Axel Reid: A fair point, I suppose...Mathis executing a snapmare then...ouch! Hard kick to Katie Moicelle’s spine!

Moicelle clutches her back after the spinal tap but makes it back to her feet. Jessica whips her into the ropes, Katie ducks under a clothesline attempt from Mathis bouncing off of the other rope then taking a hip toss from Jessica that sends her to the mat once more.

Axel Reid: Nice hip toss by the rookie Jessica E. Mathis. Not sure where the Visionaries scouts found her, but she looks to be a gem.

Ruby Parvati: Lame pun was lame, Axel. Next you’re gonna start talking about holograms or something…

Axel Reid: Well…

Ruby Parvati: Shut up, Axel.

Katie gets up and the two women begin trading punches. Jessica once again gets the upper hand, whipping Katie back into the ropes. This time, however, Katie comes off and hits Mathis with a Lou Thesz press that sends her to the mat, following it up with several punches to her face while in a mounted position.

Axel Reid: Katie’s fighting back!

Ruby Parvati: Yeah, isn’t that what you’ve said the last like three matches she’s had, Axel? And what did she do? She lost like each one of them. She’s a loser. Always has been, always will be.

Axel Reid: She is a former Zero Gravity Champion!

Ruby Parvati: Keyword, Axel. Former. What has she done lately?

After a few punches, the referee forces Katie off of Jessica. Mathis gets back to her feet and is met with a hard kick to the face by Moicelle that returns her to the canvas. Katie uses this as an opportunity to climb the turnbuckle, the fans cheering her on.

Axel Reid: Katie Moicelle looking to go high risk here...450 splash off the top rope...and nobody’s home!

Ruby Parvati: Mathis moved out of the way at the last second and The Cumberland Jet crashed and burned. Hard.

With Katie clutching her abdomen in pain after the failed high risk maneuver, Jessica sees an opportunity to finish her off. She applies a Cobra Clutch to her while wrapping her legs around Moicelle’s already pained midsection.

Axel Reid: Jessica Mathis with a move she calls The Misfit applied to Katie Moicelle. This could be it, folks!

Ruby Parvati: Good...finish off this loser so we can move on. We’ve got real stars to see here tonight, like Ryder Blade...

Axel Reid: Hey! Katie Moicelle IS a star! A bright star at that, having held the Zero Gravity title not only for the second longest reign in its history but also returning it to prominence. I mean, just listen to this crowd! They’re cheering her on, almost willing her to make it to the ropes!

Katie tries to break herself free to no avail, but does manage after a few moments and with the crowd behind her to place her foot upon the ropes forcing the hold to be released. Mathis gets back to her feet, looking to take advantage of a downed Katie but Moicelle delivers an unexpected drop toe hold.

Axel Reid: And now Katie Moicelle with a submission of her own...the Muda Lock!

Mathis screams as Katie wrenches the submission, but unfortunately Mathis is quickly able to reach the ropes to break the hold. Jessica clutches her ankle in pain as Katie gets up.

Axel Reid: Jessica Mathis looks like she may be injured, Ruby.

Ruby Parvati: Well, that’s what happens when you let losers like Katie Moicelle in the ring instead of professionals…

As the referee appears to check on Jessica, Katie looks on concerned. She moves towards her to attempt to assist when suddenly Mathis grabs a hold of her and executes a small package…

Axel Reid: A near fall after that unexpected small package! Jessica Mathis almost scored the win there, Ruby. She was playing possum the whole time!

Ruby Parvati: Is playing possum something they do here in Morgantown? Is that like code for something cousins do...

Axel Reid: N...Nevermind. Just nevermind.

Both ladies make it back to their feet. Having been deceptively manipulated into almost losing the match a visibly upset Katie Moicelle starts unleashing a rapid flurry of punches to Jessica’s head, while yelling repeatedly what has become a familiar phrase which the Visionaries crowd chants as well along with her.

Katie Moicelle/Crowd: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!!!!!

She executes her increasingly popular Hokuto No Ken on Mathis, the duration of which is a bit longer than normal, before following up the assault with a springboard roundhouse kick that sends Mathis to the canvas.

Axel Reid: You Wa SHOCK! It could be all over here!

Ruby Parvati: Quick, send something or someone out here to distract her! Hurry!

Wasting no time, Katie gets down to the canvas and hooks Jessica’s leg for a pinning attempt…

Axel Reid: Mathis kicking out at just the very last second there, but the question is does she have anything left in the tank?

Ruby Parvati: Jessica’s got plenty left in the tank, Axel. She’s just biding her time until little loser Katie wears herself out like the whiny two year old she truly is.

Axel Reid: Don’t call Katie a loser again Ruby or I’ll be more than happy to finish calling this match by myself.

Ruby Parvati: Ugh, whatever. Fine. Have it your way, Axel.

Katie shows surprise towards the referee that Mathis was able to kick out, as Jessica struggles to get back to her feet. With Mathis on all fours, Katie tries to attempt her running curb stomp she calls the Chaos Drive, but Jessica moves out of the way and returns to a standing position. Mathis takes advantage of Katie’s failed maneuver to grab a hold of her.

Axel Reid: Jessica whips Katie into the turnbuckle...wait...Katie rebounds off of the turnbuckle and hits Jessica Mathis with the Star in the Night!

The corkscrew senton sends both women to the canvas. Moicelle gathers her bearings and makes her way over to Mathis, draping her hand over Jessica’s body with both of her shoulders to the mat…

Katie slowly gets back to her feet as the referee raises her hand in victory.

Jerry Heisenberg: Here is your winner... KATIE MOICELLE!!!

Claire joins Katie in the ring as they celebrate her win, which should give her the confidence and determination to overcome Ace Watson at the PPV.

Axel Reid: She did it! Katie Moicelle has won here tonight!

Ruby Parvati: Great, her losing streak’s over. Big whoop. She’ll choke in her next match at Heatstroke. Watch. Ace Watson will make her have a sad lonely expression on her face.

Axel Reid: It was a hard fought match by both women though, that’s for sure. I think Jessica Mathis really impressed some people. And as for Katie Moicelle, it looks like she’s built up a little bit of momentum going into Heatstroke.

Ruby Parvati: She’s gonna need it.

As “Never Turn Back” continues playing from the speakers, Katie makes her way back to the back with Claire following behind her. The scene then changes to a commercial.
