Certainly it was a matter of missing Summer, but if they were going by just that Zoey had missed her the moment she left. Still, the young maid was trying hard at her new home and sounded quite happy and none could fault her for that, so the magician was as supportive as possible. Nevertheless, she leapt at the chance to speak with the girl even via simple video chat, practically humming to herself as she set up Skype on her laptop. The call was quick to go through and Zoey’s smile went up by degrees when Blink appeared on-screen. As did the maid’s for that matter.
And… we do me hop in a figurative sense. Zoey still wasn’t allowed out of bed. Stupid knee.
Blink: Hello, Miss--Oh! Oh no, your knee! Is it still hurt?
Zahara: Yeah… at least until Monday or Tuesday. Maybe the doctor will offer me a reprieve for being good and staying in bed all week. How are you, sweetie?
Blink: Wishing I was there right now… I mean, I’m fine! I’m sorry.
Blink laughs a little prior to clearing her throat into her hand. Zoey can’t help but smile, letting Blink have her little faux pas without pointing it out directly.
Blink: We’re still setting up, thank-ful-ly we had enough time to do so but now Ariel is advising I need to start getting ready for my match with Miss. Katie.
Summer's impediment on her speech strikes again... It's nothing physical, more psychological. She lacks the confidence to recite bigger words. Silly, but living the abused life she has you don't walk out with a whole lot of it unfortunately.
Zahara: Yes, Katie can be quite a challenge as I’ve seen. Never gone against her but we did team once. It’ll be nice to see two people who wrestle clean have a match with one another for once.
Scooting back against the stack of pillows, Zoey stretches slightly and adjusts the laptop.[/i]
Zahara: So, tell me: is Nathaniel really as adorable as the pictures on Twitter show?
Blink: He’s a bit of a handful, but this is what I’ve been training the past few months over. Though it only makes it a little easier.
Almost as if on cue there’s a little crying in the background taking Summer’s attention away before an “Got it!” comes out from Ariel, Summer’s wife, rushing over to aid letting Blink keep the conversation going. She looks a little torn about it but gives her former Mistress a smile.
Blink: I heard you teamed with Miss. Katie. Against Mistress and Miss. Talon, correct?
Zahara: It was months ago, but yeah. Except Katie took a bit of a spill when she went high-risk and ended up taking herself and Talon out of the match. Then it was just me and Katalina. That got… interesting.
Not the good kind, either, as Zoey recalled. The other Katie, of the Klein variety, had talked Katalina into having her as a second at ringside and took it upon herself to send Zoey tumbling from the top rope near the end. Banged up her knee pretty good. Same one as now, in fact. The thought made her leg involuntarily throb and brought a wince to Zoey’s face briefly.
Blink: I remember. Mistress wasn’t very pleased after the match. Well, I’m glad the two of you got over it..even if you’re hurt again. You haven’t...thought maybe...you should…
There’s a word there Blink doesn’t want to use in fear of how Zoey would feel. But, unfortunately, it’s already been implied. Zoey shakes her head with a smile, though. The maid got the feeling that had she been within reach, she’d be getting hugs right now.
Zahara: Absolutely not. I know it seems bad considering my time in bed, but I’m doing that to make sure it properly heals and doesn’t get worse. There’s no surgery, no serious issues. I just have to rest and then exercise it slowly to get back into rhythm. But I DO appreciate your concern, sweetie. That means a lot to me.
It had already been a better day for Zoey than the last several, and to be able to cap it off by getting to talk to Summer for a while had her quite pleased. It showed.
Blink: I’m glad. I’d hate for you to get even more hurt. How’s everyone else doing?
Zahara: Everyone seems to be doing pretty well here. Or that’s how it seems to me. I’m… working on trying not to be in everyone’s business so much anymore.
The magician chuckles a little to herself.
Blink: What do--
Summer quickly finds herself interrupted when Ariel pokes her head in front of the camera.
Ariel: Hey, Zoey. How are you?
Smiling, Zoey waves at Ariel.
Zahara: Just fine, dear. And how are you? You both seem to be happy in your new environment. I trust the videos and all are coming along well?
Ariel: They’re coming along great.
Ariel answers back while Summer looks a little off put on something in the background.
Ariel: We weren’t going to do one because we’re babysitting tonight, but we might do one when we get the free time again. Have you been watching?
Zahara: Had a lot of free time this week, so… yeah, I’ve been having a look.
A faint blush manifested on Zoey’s cheeks.
Zahara: I admire your devotion. Both of you.
Ariel: Aw. Thank you. Anyway, sorry for the intrusion, just wanted to say “hi”.
She giggles coming back from the laptop camera and turns kissing Summer atop the head whispering something to her. Summer nods still with the same level of concern since before her wife even came into the picture. However, she straightens herself in her seat and gives a little bow.
Blink: I’m sorry, Miss. Zahara, I guess I should be leaving now. You probably need your rest.
Zahara: I suppose I should get a little sleep. You two have fun this evening, okay?
Summer doesn’t say anything in response, she keeps her head bowed and reaches out touching a key on the keyboard. Unfortunately, it wasn’t one to stop recording.
Blink: What did Miss. Zahara mean?
Zahara: What did I mean by what?
Summer lets out a squeak of surprise and rather than say anything she reacts by closing the top of her laptop thus shutting the program off.
It's just moments after closing up her computer that Summer repeats a question similar to what she had thought she was asking herself privately.
Blink: Not being in anyone's business anymore?
Ariel: Little one's in bed. You want to record your promo now?
The blond asks giving a moment for a response, then another. By the third she leans down into her wife's line of sight startling her out of whatever trance she was in.
Ariel: Hey, just me.
Blink: I'm sorry.
Ariel: It's okay. Are you wanting to shoot your promo now? You have time. I mean if not...
Blink: No, I should. Miss. Katie deserves hearing from me sooner rather than later.
She informs as she opens back up her laptop slowly, hoping the program wasn't just put on hold. Luckily for her, the program had signed her out after putting the computer to sleep so she sighs and starts up the recording aspect of it.
Like anything that involves the little pink fuzzball, this promo starts with a bow as Blink takes a deep breath coming up with a warm smile. Almost as if the past five minutes or so never happened. No sense worrying those not involved.
Blink: Hello, Miss. Katie, and to all those watching. I'm sure that some of you right now are wondering if this promo will play out like any other would. Where I pick on a certain weakness or try and se-par-ate Miss. Katie's focus from our match. Un-for-tu-nate-ly,
Aside from needing the short breather, Summer also stops as her expression changes to that of concern.
Blink: This won't be the case. I know that in most promos it should be a must, but there isn't any point here. I'm not saying that Miss. Katie is already unfocused on our match, in fact I'm hoping it's the op-po-site.
The warm smile returns.
Blink: Not too long ago I informed Miss. Katie that it was my hope before, after, and even during our match we could remain friends. Friends who hurt each other, friends who do what they can to win, but overall friends who do not allow their in-te-gri-ty to suffer. It's my hope we start the match with a handshake and by the end of it that we see no reason not to end it on the same note.
I sense a but...
Blink: However, as I said we will be hurting one another during the match. I won't be going easy on you and I hope you return the same level of respect toward me. Because really, Miss. Katie, I do want to win this match. Not because it would just be another notch, but because of what you re-pre-sent here in Vi-si...on...ar-ies of Wrestling.
Blink swallows as she brings her hands up together in front of her looking like she's ready to be frank with Katie.
Blink: You were the Zero Gravity champion for over a hundred and sixty days! I know it might sound awful putting it this way, but you're a targeted in-di-vi-du-al. Someone who would be on any up and comer's bingo book. I know over the past few weeks since losing your title you've lost sight of this great ac-com-plish...ment,
She pauses to both smile and shake her head.
Blink: But you were shy just eleven days of becoming the longest reigning champion in that division! I know that probably stings you hearing that, but it shouldn't. Miss. Katie, looking back at your reign you should be feeling nothing but pride. You should also stop blaming others for your missteps.
Sensing she's becoming perhaps a little too passionate, Blink gives herself a moment to calm down.
Blink: I do get your frus-tra-ti-ons, Miss. Katie, I really do. In fact, I've felt it as well. The feeling you've been wronged from what was yours, in your case not even being involved in losing your belt, and you feel from there people at the top are trying to push you down. You can say it's because you weren't booked on the odd show, but that's the same for a lot of people. Since teaming with Mistress a few weeks ago I've been left off. But it's a part of the job. It's time off to recover from in-jur-ies and con-cen-trate on what your next move will be.
She pauses to let out a mild sigh.
Blink: I know some of this might come as hurtful to you, but like I said I am wanting to give you everything that I can just as I would hope you'll do the same in return. Even if you lose you after giving it all that you've got you shouldn't feel down on yourself. You should feel proud that you have no regrets in your per-for-mance. Just like your career, Miss. Katie, you should never have any regrets.
Now things are back to the warm smile once more.
Blink: When you feel you're at your lowest you turn to those you love, and then you turn to yourself and stand. You stand, you dust yourself off, and you say “Here I am, world. A little wiser, a little more prepared, and I'm ready for round two.” In cases like this, only you can ring your final bell, Miss. Katie.
Still with her warm smile, Summer gives the camera another bow as the scene cuts out to black.
And… we do me hop in a figurative sense. Zoey still wasn’t allowed out of bed. Stupid knee.
