The city of Philadelphia was bustling with life as Valerie Beasley was walking along the sidewalk just taking in the sights. This wasn't the first time she had visited this city but it would be the first time she did it without her agent Todd. She was standing out front of Indepence Hall when Matt Slater appears with heavy breathing escaping from his lungs.
"What kept you?" asked Valerie as she glances down at him as he hunches over. She was trying to hold back heavy laughter as she glanced back up at the building where two of our nations documents were penned. "can you imagine how hard it must have been for Thomas Jefferson to sit in that building and write the Declaration of Independence. I would imagine his face smothered in sweat with his hands growing red with the blood vessels being covered by his palm," she says while turning to walk further down the sidewalk.
"This city is rich with history that even history buffs don't have time to sort through it all," replies Matt as he finally leans up. His face was dripping with sweat as Valerie give a quick glance over toward him.
"I wish Todd was here," she admits while letting out a soft sigh. Slater gave a quick nod of his head while placing a hand on her shoulders. Todd Willingham had been going through some personal problems so he excused himself from the picture for the time being. Slater knew this could have an effect on her on some level but last week it didn't show at all.
"I don't know how to work in a tag team since I've done only solo matches thus far," she admits again while wrapping her arms around her chest.
"Everything will be fine. You got me to lean on for the time being and we must be on the same page in order to defeat Jessica Mathis and the pompous windbag Ace Watson," comforts Slater as he slowly runs his hand along her back.
Valerie took a moment to sharply inhale followed by a sharp exhale. She looked at Slater with a look of determination in her eyes. "I don't know who this Jessica Mathis chick is but if she thinks for a second I'm going to be just another easy mark then she has another thing coming. Yes, my knee has been injured twice but each time I returned I've been stronger than ever. The fans continue to drive me to do better and I feel as if I'm getting to that point. Last week was just the beginning of what I can do in that ring. My knee may be sore from time to time but that's not all you should be worried about when facing the likes of me," she began as Slater nods his head in agreeance with her.
"I do get the desire to want to be better than when you first debuted. I'm still trying to string victories back to back but I don't let my circumstances define who I am. When my knee was injured this second time, I worked twice as hard to get it back to where I had it before and I think it's better. Jessica shouldn't have mentioned her shoulder injury because I'm going to exploit it like you wouldn't believe. That's the worst thing you can do when facing someone who utilizes a submission based offense. I don't always need to use powerful moves or strike with such force. I will wrap you up like a human pretzel and see how far your body will go before it breaks," she continued while stopping at a chain link fence. The fence was surrounding a rundown apartment building as Slater was watching and listening to her.
"What are your thoughts on Ace Watson?" asks Slater while placing a hand in between the holes of the fence.
"Ace Watson is a scumbag who has a god complex. He believes everything in the world revolves around him but when no one talks about him then he begins to throw a tantrum. Let's take when I returned for example. He said the reaction was mild but obviously it was in his fantasy world. Because everyone was excited to see me. The night I did return, I had a swarm of fans surround me once I stepped out of the arena. When was the last time you had that happen to you Ace? When was the last time your music nearly caused the roof to be blown off the arena? If that is what you consider to be mild then you need a new definition of that word. Listening to speak is like listening to a Donald Trump speech. You both talk a shit ton but nothing you say actually makes sense.
You both talk a bunch of shit but at least you back it up somewhat. If you think carrying your tag partner is going to lead you to victory then you seriously to need to rethink your strategy. Because Slater and I have been working together for a while. Which is something you need to realize what awaits you come Breakthrough. Slater and I will bring a chemistry that will be hard to break and a determination that can't be matched. Jessica isn't taken this match seriously which will lead to your downfall Ace. You can blame her all you want but in the end. Somebody is going to tap when it's all said and done," she continues while stepping away from the fence.
Slater smiles as Valerie stops and looks over her shoulder. "It's time to break a bitch," she says while showing off a smirk before walking off. Slater follows as the scene fades.
